Description NBAA Charities and the family and friends of Lawrence Ginocchio annually award $4,500 to each of five undergraduate students enrolled at NBAA/University Aviation Association (UAA) member institutions. The Lawrence Ginocchio Aviation Scholarship was created in 2001 by NBAA Charities and the family and friends of the late Lawrence “Larry” Ginocchio to honor his outstanding personal contribution to the business aviation community. Named for a remarkable man whose strength of character inspired a high standard of caring in the aviation community, this scholarship recognizes those individuals who have demonstrated honesty, integrity and selflessness in their dealings with others. These individuals should possess a passion for aviation, as Larry Ginocchio did, and utilize their interest or involvement in business aviation to enhance the lives of others. Scholarship Criteria Full-time undergraduate students enrolled or accepted into an aviation management program at an NBAA/UAA member school; rising sophomore or higher standing, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Head (Ret.) flew both fixed wing and rotary wing during his twenty year career in the U.S. Army. After his retirement from the Army he continued his flying for both fun and, on and off, as a commercial pilot. He passed on a great love of aviation to his two sons, both of whom have pilot certificates. Bill was continually on a quest for knowledge in whatever field caught his fancy at the time, and it is in this vein that his family wishes to help someone follow their quest to fly, whether for fun or for occupation (or maybe both).

Scholarship Criteria Students are eligible to apply if their parent/guardian is an employee of Hudson Group (across all departments and functions) in North America. The employee must have been employed for at least one year for their child to be eligible. Under this program, “children” are defined as natural or legally adopted children, stepchildren and legal wards supported wholly by the guardian, who is an employee of Hudson Group. Recipients must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time course load at an accredited two- or four-year college/ university or vocational/technical school, in any course of study. All awards are non-renewable, but applicants may reapply each year as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria.

Pioneers of Flight Scholarship

By making scholarships available, NATF’s ultimate goal is to foster and promote careers in the general aviation industry. Scholarship Criteria College students, sophomore or junior year; Enrolled in a full-time aviation degree program at an accredited four-year college or university; GPA of 3.0 + on a 4.0 scale; Able to demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in general aviation. Payment of Scholarships The Pioneers of Flight Scholarship checks will be made payable jointly to the recipient and their college/university (and must be endorsed by both). The scholarship checks will be mailed to each recipient’s address stipulated on the scholarship acknowledgement form. Obligations Recipients are required to supply copies of pertinent records and to notify NATF of any changes of address, school enrollment or other relevant information. Except as described here, no obligation is assumed by NATF, members of its scholarship selection committee or the National Air Transportation Association. Tax liability, if any, will be the sole responsibility of the recipient.

Scholarship Requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the scholarship: Applicants must be officially enrolled in an accredited college or university in a program leading to a career in the airline industry at the time of application and award. Applicants will be considered from other programs/majors, if the applicant’s goal of a career in airline management can be demonstrated through work experience or the personal essay; Applicants must possess a minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at the time of the application. A transcript reflecting grades through the previous academic year at high school, college or university must accompany the application. Because of the application deadline, applicants may submit transcripts through fall or winter term 2020/2021; A resume outlining the applicants work experience, extracurricular and/ or community activities; A career essay, up to 350 words, describing the applicant’s interests in the airline industry; A faculty recommendation must accompany the application. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States.

Vertical Flight Foundation

Washington St. Alexandria, VA 22314 www.vtol.org Usual Deadline February Amount(s) Awarded $1,000 up to $6,000 Description Each year, Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarships are awarded to college students demonstrating an interest in pursuing engineering related careers in vertical flight technology. The Foundation scholarship awards are made possible solely by tax deductible donations that have been established and contribute to an endowment. Scholarship Criteria A student does not need to be a member of the Vertical Flight Society, but we encourage you to explore the many benefits student membership can provide. High school students are not eligible. At the time of application (February 2022) applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student in a relevant engineering degree program at an accredited university. Technical disciplines relevant to complex aeronautics engineering or aviation systems, even if not considered vertical lift engineering, will receive equal consideration. A student can receive an award once an Undergraduate, once a Master’s student, and once a Graduate student. In order to qualify for consideration of the scholarship, an applicant must demonstrate a detailed interest and appreciation on the importance of affordability and how it might be improved within the vertical flight community. Affordability information should be highlighted via an applicant’s narrative and resume.

Barden Aviation Scholarship, NBAA Charities annually awards a minimum of $1,000 to each of five undergraduates studying aviation-related curricula at NBAA and University Aviation Association (UAA) member institutions. This scholarship is named for the late Janice K. Barden, who was active in the aviation community for decade. She served as chair of the NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition Local Committee eight times, more than any other person in NBAA history. Scholarships will be awarded for one academic year, and checks will be made payable to the school. Awards will be made to U.S. citizens or permanent residents without regard to sex, race, religion or national origin. Scholarship recipients must use the funds by the end of the academic year or risk forfeit of the award.
