STUDENT SUPPORT
Think we leave postgraduate students to just ‘get on with it’? Think again. At the University of East London, we’re consistently supporting you. We listen to your specific needs and recommend practical solutions to help you manage your studies.
Student Support
We won’t let worry get in the way of your ambitions. Whether you need support for dyslexia, advice about money, or guidance on mental health, we’re here for you. On both campuses you’ll benefit from support services in the Student Hub. Here we have different teams who know exactly how to help you solve and manage specific problems.
You will be surrounded by a support network throughout your university experience. You’ll be part of a diverse community on campus; including mature learners, international students and parents who are all fully represented at the University of East London. Many of our students spark lifelong friendships while they’re here and become ambassadors for the University for many years after they graduate.
Your Academic Success
Postgraduate study is designed to challenge you and broaden your expertise, but if you ever need support with your studies, you can turn to us for academic advice. With small teaching groups, you can always ask questions and talk to your lecturers one to one.
Our Disability and Dyslexia Service provides support and advice for disabled students and those with specific learning difficulties. We’ll help you to identify and break down barriers infringing on your education so that you can make the most of your course.
The help I got from the school and the University of East London was amazing. I don't think I'd have finished the course if it wasn't for the support they gave me.
Your Mental Health
Achieving the right balance between study, work and other commitments can appear tricky at first. But we believe your mental health should always be a priority.
You’ll always have someone to turn to when you need support. However big or small your problem, our Student Wellbeing Service offers the support you need:
■ Daily drop-in advice sessions at both the Docklands or and Stratford campus
■ Confidential counselling services
■ An online mental health and wellbeing service
Your Finances
Concerned you can’t afford postgraduate study? You might be surprised when you hear how much support is available. Our Student Money Advice and Rights Team (SMART) provide advice on all aspects of government and university funding. The team also run workshops on studying as a parent, trust funds, charities, and more.
They can also advise you on personal financial situation and provide tips on budgeting and managing any debts.
