OPEN EVENINGS

Society is a complicated machine with many moving cogs. The big, complicated issues just keep geting bigger. War, displacement, justice, natural resources – it seems the more globally connected we become, the greater the need for new strategies to truly understand ourselves.

If you want to stay up to date with the latest politics, feel passionately about the refugee crisis, want to make a change in the world then this is the place to start.

You can make a difference - we’ll give you the skills; you just decide what to do with them. Our graduates are improving lives across the UK and the world - as teachers, researchers, or experts advising governments, charities and major corporations. Work at the United Nations, international think-tanks, or even start your own non-governmental organisation (NGO) to work directly with people in need – the possibilities are endless.

Accredited

Our Masters of Science NGO and Development Management course is one of only two in the UK accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Global Development Studies and Research.

Research

From researching the everchanging challenges of today’s global world, our diverse academics are world-renowned experts. Giorgia Dona, whose research focuses on conflict and displacement is one of our experts.

Careers

Our students have secured jobs at sector-leading organisations such as Medecins Sans Frontieres, the British Red Cross, the Refugee Council and the World Health Organisation (WHO) after graduating.

Diverse Expertise

Our researchers specialise in everything from European politics and policies to urban deprivation in Mumbai. They contribute new material to their fields and are keen to share their knowledge and connections.

We work on collaborative research projects with local organisations and across the world, and all our postgraduate students are welcome to become part of our vibrant research community.

The University of East London has been home to the Refugee Council Archive for over a decade - one of the largest collections of materials on refugees and forced migration, in existence. We have connections with major European and international community sector bodies and Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) like UNICEF,

World Vision and Amnesty International. You can get involved in work-based learning placements or internships with local and international organisations as well as taking part in civic engagement projects at the University of East London

Whilst benefitting from being situated in one of Europe’s largest regeneration areas, our staff also have regional expertise and excellent contacts in Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Europe and the Western Balkans.
