HOW YOUR COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT: DUAL DELIVERY EDUCATION

We have developed the Careers-1st dual delivery educational model to facilitate access to your learning cohort online and on-campus. The University has applied Covid-Secure guidelines to all its campuses and has put in place a high-quality virtual learning environment and a new online portal to access all University services (Track My Future). This enables students to receive the benefits of on-campus learning (eg specialist equipment and labs; practical and performance experiences) and online learning (eg peer engagement and feedback; ability to review recorded and curated teaching material).

The UK government’s Covid-19 restrictions means that all on-campus capacity in the UK is reduced. To ensure the safety of students, teaching on-campus will be delivered to a timetable of a maximum of two days per week per course/ cohort. Six hours of on-campus timetabled events per week will be scheduled. Overall teaching and learning contact time will remain the same as pre-Covid although the balance between virtual and physical has been adapted. These six hours on-campus may include performance/practical opportunities, access to specialist equipment/labs and/or professional body vocational requirements.

On-campus timetabled events will be live-streamed and recorded and will be accessible via your Virtual Learning Environment along with the rest of the formal contact hours which will be delivered as outlined in the module/course specification. As such, if you are not directed to campus; if you have specific reasons to limit access to campus (eg health or visa restrictions); or if the University has entered a campus-based or region-based Covid-19 lockdown, you will still be able to progress in your studies through your online access.

All students are asked to attend both on-campus and online timetabled events – as appropriate. This gives students the opportunity to gain the greatest value from their course. It’s also important to note that without on-campus engagement, there may be some delays in progression/completion for some Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRB)-accredited courses.

The University’s aim is to provide all students with the best Careers1st, academic experience possible. As such the dual delivery educational model has been developed for the 2020/21 academic year and beyond. This provides the necessary academic standards and support for students to succeed for an industry 4.0 economy. To ensure you realise your potential, it is important for students to understand the commitment and engagement necessary in both online and on-campus learning modes.
