Come and be a Maths Detective for the day! This workshop encourages pupils to use their investigation skills to solve a range of mathematical problems with a focus on codebreaking. We will explore, analyse and break a range of codes from historical to modern day times, and consider a range of everyday contexts for their use. Emphasis will be placed on working collaboratively to share ideas and ‘sift through clues’. Pupils will also be encouraged to analyse what makes a good cypher, and to generate their own codes for others to solve.
• Create coded messages and decipher others’ messages
• Work collaboratively as a team to race to break a series of ‘Top Secret’ coded messages.
