Arts & Entertainments Shostakovitch’s Mighty Concerto is the name of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s concert at Poole’s Lighthouse Theatre on Wednesday April 27. The evening will see Alexander Shelley conducting Nikita BorisoGlebsky playing the Violin concerto No1, as well as Scriabin’s Rêverie and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.4. Praised for his ‘deep musical thinking, impeccable technique, elegance and instinctiveness’ BorisoGlebsky makes a return to the region with this concerto, which is a real tour de force and calls on everything in the violinist’s technical arsenal. Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony is a truly thrilling work brimming with energy and tension which forces the orchestra to bend to its language. Meanwhile, Scriabin’s

Meanwhile, on May 4, the Brilliant Mendelssohn concert at the same venue will feature four well-loved pieces, including the overture from Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte as well as Mendelssohn’s
Violin concerto in E Minor. The performance will mark the BSO debut for violinist Kristóf Baráti. Tickets for this event can be found here: bsolive.com/ events/brilliant-mendelssohn/
