Introduction to the City of Wollongong
Our team of professionals design each study tour to meet the specific needs of the group. You can choose the study topics, cultural activities, duration of stay and accommodation that suit you. We recommend a minimum of 15 participants.
Our activities and excursion packages are designed and conducted by qualified and experienced tour managers. This component can be designed specifically for your group and can be modified according to the budget, needs and interests of the students. Activities range from on campus sports activities and university student interaction to tours to rainforest, native animal parks, beaches, shopping and Aussie BBQs.
We look forward to welcoming you to UOW College.
Students are given the opportunity to take part in a range of social and cultural activities designed to immerse students in Australia’s culture and community. You can visit our natural wonders and experience Wollongong’s history, culture and beaches.
Wollongong City is located just 90 minutes south of Sydney – close enough to be in daily reach of the Sydney CBD without the rush and expense of a big city. With a population of around 400,000, Wollongong is large enough to offer all the facilities, entertainment and conveniences of the city, yet small enough to retain the friendly, relaxed atmosphere of a coastal community. The campus lies among the foothills of Mount Keira, minutes from the broad blue waters of the Pacific Ocean.
Homestay Our homestay program is one of the most popular options for study tour students. If you prefer a family-oriented lifestyle and like the idea of living with a local family, homestay accommodation in a private home with an Australian family is likely to suit you. Living with a carefully screened family provides a safe and comfortable environment for students. Guardianship is also available for students under the age of 18. On Campus Accommodation The University of Wollongong offers dormitory facilities which are available November to February.
The Illawarra region makes the most of outdoor living and dining on the coast, the variety of cuisine reflects Wollongong’s diverse multicultural community. Wollongong is home to over 70 nationalities and offers a diverse, cosmopolitan lifestyle influenced by many cultures from all over the world. The strong community spirit of Wollongong ensures a full calendar of events and festivities throughout the year.
