Pittsburgh on the short list for Amazon H2 Pittsburgh is ready to be primed along with dozens of other cities. Amazon has to pick between 19 U.S cities and one Canadian city. This will benefit the city with jobs and more opportunities. Maybe even bring more people to Pittsburgh. Officials expect visits from Amazon and tough questions about public transportation, affordable housing and workforce development. They said the package the city put together to the company is flexible. Amazon has said its second headquarters will bring with it $5 billion in investment. So will we be primed? By: Marcia Hill

Fitness tracking App Maps Pittsburgh most active areas
Runners or bicyclists have logged and mapped nearly every block in some Pittsburgh neighborhoods, according to a popular fitness tracking app. Strava released an updated map showing where people using the app went on runs or rode bikes in November, but it received a lot of attention Monday as the U.S. military realized the map also showed the locations of soldiers working out, sometimes in not-so-well-known locations In Pittsburgh, bright lines trace what looks like the full street grid throughout the Golden Triangle, Strip District, South Side, Lawrenceville and East End. Strava compiles data and sells it to cities through its Strava Metro service. The company claims the data can help make cities better for riding, running and walking. More than 70 cities, states and departments of transportation use Strava data, according to the company's website. Pittsburgh does not have a contract with Strava for the data, according to the city's online contract database.

North Korea vs. South Korea Written By: Taylor Dotson
North and South Korea were once one nation. They grew apart and the country divided into two countries, which is now North Korea and South Korea. North Korea´s president is Kim Jong‐un and South Korea´s president is Moon Jae‐in. The two presidents haven't talked to each other in quite some time; however, since tension between North Korea and America has been becoming increasingly aggressive, the two leaders are starting to communicate again. Only time will tell if these talks will be beneficial to helping bridge the peace between the USA and North Korea. President Moon Jae‐in will try to deescalate the often “hotheaded” Kim Jong‐un. South Korea will also be hosting this year's Winter Olympic Games. If you want to know more about the Olympics, then read my sports article.
Sports and Clubs Pirates’ fans show their displeasure with Ownership Some Pittsburgh Pirates fans are signing a petition to express their frustration following the team's decision to trade star outfielder Andrew McCutchen to the San Francisco Giants and top starting pitcher Gerrit Cole to Houston, shedding the organization of $20 million in salary in the process. As of Wednesday, more than 28,000 fans signed a petition on change.org asking Major League Baseball to force Pirates owner Bob Nutting to sell the team. By; M. Hall
Penguins will work to keep up the momentum in hopes of a strong playoff push The Penguins pushed their season off the brink by going 8‐3‐0 in January. January's resurgence coincided with a return to a fast, aggressive style of play for the Penguins, one reminiscent of the one they used to scorch the playoff field en route to the 2016 Stanley Cup championship. Despite their successful January, the Penguins aren't home free in the Eastern Conference playoff race. They hit the All‐Star break with 57 points, tied with Columbus for second place in the Metropolitan Division, six points behind first‐place Washington. The Penguins play 17 of their 32 remaining games at home, and they have to leave the Eastern Time zone only once, for a two‐game trip to Dallas and St. Louis next month. Seven of their last 12 games are against teams not currently in a playoff position.
Super bowl LII (52) On February 4, 2018 in Minneapolis Minnesota the New England Patriots will be taking on the Philadelphia Eagles in this year’s Super Bowl. New England will represent the AFC after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 24‐20 in the AFC championship game. Philadelphia will represent the NFC after beating the Minnesota Vikings 38‐7 in the NFC championship game. This game will be a rematch from the 2005 Super Bowl where the Patriots came out as the winning team by a score of 24‐21. The Eagles will look to avenge that loss and dethrone the Champions from last year. Storylines to be aware of as game day approaches are, the health of Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski who left the AFC championship game with what appeared to be a concussion, Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, who has 12 stitches on his throwing hand, and the play of Nick Foles, the Eagles backup Quarterback who has been starting these playoffs. The game will be played at U.S Bank Stadium, the home field of the Minnesota Vikings. This year’s Super Bowl halftime show will be headlined by Justin Timberlake.

Student & Staff Submissions I, Too I, too, sing America. I am the darker brother. They send me to eat in the kitchen When company comes, But I laugh, And eat well, And grow strong. Tomorrow, I’ll be at the table When company comes. Nobody’ll dare Say to me, “Eat in the kitchen,” Then. Besides, They’ll see how beautiful I am And be ashamed— I, too, am America. Catch a little rhyme Once upon a time I caught a little rhyme I set it on the floor But it ran right out the door I chased it on my bicycle But it melted to an icicle I scooped it up in my hat But it turned into a cat I caught it by the tail But it stretched into a whale I followed it in a boat But it changed into a goat When I fed it tin and paper It became a tall skyscraper Then it grew into a kite And flew far out of sight.. Lift Every Voice and Sing By James Weldon Johnson Lift every voice and sing, till earth and Heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of liberty; Let our rejoicing rise, high as the listening skies, Let it resound loud as the rolling sea. Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us, Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us; Facing the rising sun of our new day begun, Let us march on till victory is won. Stony the road we trod, bitter the chastening rod, Felt in the days when hope unborn had died; Yet with a steady beat, have not our weary feet, Come to the place for which our fathers sighed? We have come over a way that with tears has been watered, We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered; Out from the gloomy past, till now we stand at last Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast. God of our weary years, God of our silent tears, Thou Who hast brought us thus far on the way; Thou Who hast by Thy might, led us into the light, Keep us forever in the path, we pray. Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee. Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee. Shadowed beneath Thy hand, may we forever stand, True to our God, true to our native land.
