Cooper Landing Gem Newsletter- January 2025

Page 1

Happy New Year to all of our Members,

It is great that we are gaining daylight every day now. Soon the sun will be over the mountain. If the warm weather continues for the rest of this winter, our construction season will be underway sooner than later.

Please look in your emails. Your membership bills and requests to update your information have been emailed to you. We are working on a new website and want to have it up and contain the information you want your potential customers to review. Please send in any updates.

What would you like to see from your Chamber to support your business? We currently have a limited number of board members. We have already reached out to our members for support for the board and are waiting to hear from you. Knowing that there are limited hands instead of many for getting the work accomplished, what do you want from the Chamber?

Please reach out to us to serve on the board or any ideas you might have. Looking forward to a prosperous 2025!

Thank you,

Cooper Landing, Alaska 99572

Cooper Landing Trails

• The new Cooper Landing Trails website is still under development but is now open for viewing. Please see: https://cooperlandingtrails.org/. If we ever get enough good snow, we’ll have grooming reports for snow trails on the new website. Check it out.

• Once the snow is deep enough, we will groom Quartz Creek Road beyond the power line to the Crescent Creek trailhead and the Devil’s Creek snow trails to the right and north of the regular trailhead. Recall that CLT won’t be allowed to groom the Russian River Campground again this winter due to construction scheduling for the improvements there. You may still hike, snowshoe, or ski on your own once the construction is ended which we understand was December 20th.

• The new snow trails equipment has started arriving! These items were made possible by a grant from the Recreational Trails Program of the Alaska State Department of Natural Resources. If you are curious you may read more about RTP at the following website: https://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/grants/trails.htm

• We held a CLT meeting at Sunrise on December 2nd. See the our website for the notes. An update of our activity was given and volunteers signed forms for work done on USFS lands.

• CLT officers, David and Janette, continue to meet monthly with Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) to work on how to advance our CLTRPPP. This month a representative of Kenaitze Tribe joined our meeting where drafts of the new Pitch Deck and Story Map were presented.

• For other details please see the notes of meetings posted on our website “News” page. https://www.walkcooperlanding.org/news

• If you’re interested in volunteering with CLT contact us. See information below.
