URBANA UNIVERSITY ounded in 1850, Urbana University is proud to offer a liberal arts education in a small college environment emphasizing student learning through individual attention, excellence in instruction, career-oriented programs, and critical reflection on moral and ethical values. Urbana is a private, liberal arts university nestled in Urbana, Ohio, on a small but growing campus that is small enough to foster close connections between faculty and students, and large enough to provide cutting-edge programs. Our vibrant 128-acre campus in west central Ohio is a blend of modern and traditional architecture. Comprised of 16 buildings and 5 residence halls, our campus offers the safety of a small town with the convenience of being less than an hour from the major metropolitan areas of Columbus and Dayton. Urbana University students are a diverse mix of men and women from Ohio, 18 other states, and 8 foreign countries. It was the second institution of higher education in Ohio to admit women and the first in the state to offer a nontraditional degree completion program. Dr. David George
ENGLISH PROFESSOR RENOWNED SHAKESPEAREAN SCHOLAR
Dr. David George, professor of English, College of Arts and Sciences, is known on campus for many things. For some, it may be his English accent; for others it may be his regular bike rides to his campus office. He is also likely to be remembered for his high standards in the classroom and the love of Shakespeare, whose works he has researched for almost three decades. He regularly contributes to the literary world and is professionally engaged in his craft. A renowned Shakespearian scholar, he is one of the most widely published scholars at UU.

Nate Wigal NBA SUPERSTAR
“Dear God, please let me get to the NBA”, are the words that Urbana University senior Nate Wigal would pray every night before he went to bed. His dream was to reach the highest level one can reach in the game of basketball, the National Basketball Association. In fact, it was basketball that attracted Nate to Urbana University; he never anticipated that Urbana would lead him off the court but still guide him on a path towards the NBA. In May 2012, Nate began an internship with the NBA’s Detroit Pistons. He worked within their group sales department and lived in Lake Orion, Michigan. There are a lot of connections and opportunities presented through UU that can lead to achieving career dreams.

FROM HUMANITIES TO MATHEMATICS TO SCIENCES, The College of Arts & Sciences helps students hone their creative and analytical skills. “Because of Urbana, I grew into a man. UU nurtured me. Humanities students can choose from communication arts, English, philosophy & religious studies, and liberal studies. Clubs and organizations such as The Lancer student newspaper and Blackbox Theatre give students a chance to learn outside of the classroom. Undergraduate degrees in sciences include: biology, chemistry, or prehealth professions. Students learn in and out of the lab through classroom lectures, lab sessions, and on-site observations.

OUR BUSINESS PROGRAMS PROVIDE A LEARNING EXPERIENCE that extends beyond the classroom, with opportunities to explore and experience real workplace critical thinking issues important to employers in west-central Ohio, the Midwest, and nationally. TEACHING OTHERS TO TEACH CREATIVELY, passionately, and extraordinarily is what the College of Education is all about. By providing programs of study for prospective teachers, the College instills a lifelong desire to continue learning, thinking, and understanding. The teacher education program is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and offers majors in early childhood (PK-3), middle childhood (4-9), adolescence to young adult (7-12), and intervention specialist (K-12) majors.

THE COLLEGE OF NURSING & ALLIED HEALTH offers nursing completion programs for RNs, as well as athletic training for undergrads. The athletic training program combines classroom education with clinical field experience to prepare students for a career in the allied health profession of athletic training. Students who pass the Board of Certification exam will qualify for employment as certified athletic trainers in a variety of settings, such as sports medicine clinics/ hospitals, secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports organizations, and industrial settings.

The College educates students in criminal justice, human service, civil service, health care, and business. Basic subject matter for a career in teaching the social sciences can also be earned. Dr. Isaac Hampton
SOLDIER OF KNOWLEDGE
Dr. Isaac Hampton had one goal: to give voice to the unrecorded history of African American officers during the Vietnam era. Although Hampton graduated from Urbana University in 1994, his ties to UU date back to his aunt, the first African American woman to graduate from UU in 1935. “My time at UU was my first experience where the professors really took an interest in me and my academic development. I never felt like I was just a number.� Dr. Hampton is the Command Historian at U.S. Army South and is an adjunct professor at San Antonio College. He is also a part of an academic consortium in conjunction with the Houston Metro System that researched the effects of the Civil Rights movement on Houston, Texas.
