HEAD COACH DANIELLE LOWE (FINDLAY ‘06, M.A. ‘08) PHONE: 937.484.1325 EMAIL: dlowe@urbana.edu Urbana University Athletic Director Doug Young named Danielle Lowe (rhymes with "now") the softball program's newest head coach on May 11, 2010. A first-time head coach, Lowe took over the reigns of a program that enjoyed the most successful 6year run in program history under Nicole Pluger, who was promoted to the role of Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance following the 2010 season. In her first season at the helm, Lowe improved the team's winning percentage and GPA. Urbana finished the season strong, winning 9 of their final 13 games, including a 4-3 home win over 13th ranked regional foe Indianapolis. The victory was 1 of 2 against ranked opponents in 2011. Lowe's second campaign was even more successful than the first. The Blue Knights claimed the program's first post-season championship since 2007, winning the 6-team D-II Ohio Independents' Championship. Urbana outscored its opponents 24-5 over the 4 games of the OIC Tournament. Six Blue Knights made the All-OIC squad and 4 more made the national All-Independent Teams. Urbana improved its win total by 9, finishing 24-26. The 24 wins were the most at UU in over a decade (2001). For the second consecutive season, Lowe's Blue Knights finished strong, winning 6 straight to end the campaign and 10 of the final 14. Lowe came to Urbana from the University of Findlay where she spent 4 seasons as an assistant coach following 3 seasons as the Oilers' starting second baseman. She served as team captain as a senior while capturing all-academic accolades from the GLIAC conference. On the field, Lowe was named the team's top defensive player while batting .255 with 26 extra-base hits and 35 RBIs. During her time at Findlay, Lowe earned both a bachelor's and a master's degree. She received a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Mathematics AYA Education in December of 2006. Two years later, she completed her Master's Degree in Education, with a Human Resource Development Strand and an Emphasis on Leadership.

PITCHING COACH JEFF EICHELBERGER EMAIL: jeichelberger@urbana.edu Jeff Eichelberger joined the Blue Knight coaching staff in the fall of 2008, serving his first season as an assistant coach in 2009. For 2 years under Head Coach Nikki Pluger, Eichelberger's primary focus was on the pitching staff for the Blue Knights. Eichelberger retained those duties under new Head Coach Dani Lowe. This past spring, he completed his fourth season with the Blue Knight softball program. Eichelberger's top 2 pitchers, sophomores Lauren Anderson and Haley Kolmerten, each earned Second Team All-ICAA honors in their second year in the program. Kolmerten's selection was her second straight after earning First Team honors under Eichelberger as a freshman. Eichelberger has 15+ years of coaching experience in summer leagues around Ohio, and more than a decade of coaching experience at Northeastern High School in Springfield, Ohio. Jeff currently resides in South Charleston, Ohio with his wife, Jacquie. He has two daughters, Shari and Cari.

ASSISTANT COACH LARRY SPAHR Larry Spahr, or Coach "Lare-Bear" as he's known to the players, joined the Blue Knight softball coaching staff prior to the 2012 fall season. Spahr retired from the active player ranks after over 25 years in the sport. Since then, Spahr has spent several years coaching travel and high school ball. Most recently, Spahr has spent the past 5 years as the Head Softball Coach at Springfield Shawnee High School. His team at Shawnee posted an 85-42 record (.670 winning percentage) over that stretch, earning Spahr County Coach of the Year honors in 2008. Spahr's teams led the 12-team conference in hitting 4 out of his 5 seasons at the helm. Shawnee has scored over 900 runs and swiped 476 bases over Spahr's 5-year reign as Head Coach. Six of Spahr's Shawnee players earned All-Ohio recognition, but Spahr's proudest accomplishment is seeing 4 of his 5 teams place in the Top 20 academically in the state of Ohio. Twelve of his players have received the state's Scholar Athlete Award. Currently, Coach Spahr lives east of Springfield with his wife Bonnie. He has two daughters, Karlieigh (Otterbein, '08) and Kelsee, and a new son-inlaw, Andrew Seaman (Wright State, '11). BLUE KNIGHT SOFTBALL

The second-year fireballer established herself as an ace to watch upon the team's return to Ohio after finishing 2-2 in the opening week. Her miniscule ERA sits below 2.00 after her first 5 appearances. Anderson doubled the win total of her freshman season in just 6 days.
