Doctor of Architecture Thesis, “Redefining a Street’s Purpose: A Shared Space (woonerf) Concept for Pauahi Street”, University of Hawai’i at Manoa, 2008 The thesis investigates “woonerf street design” in cities across the world to develop shared spatial and geographical commonalities. These commonalities are applied to as an evaluation lense to urban Honolulu to recommend ideal streets. The last phase is a design proposal for Pauahi Street in Chinatown. Co-Editor, “Exploring Hawai’i’s Transit Oriented Future”, School of Architecture, University of Hawai’i at Manoa, 2008 A summation of the works created as a class over a semester-long design studio. Responsibilities included preparing a template for use by the students to assemble their various works in a readable, aesthetically pleasing and consistent manner and working with the publisher.

“Fashion Temples of Omotesando”, CSI Honolulu Research Travel Scholarship, 2007 The travel study investigates the architectural design phenomenon of fashion design epicenters in Omotesando Tokyo and its architectural manifestation of building skins to reflect the retailers values and branding as extension of its clothing. “Greenroof Design”, Thompson Ventulett Stainback Architects, Technical group, 2006 Technical ‘how-to’ document on Green Roof case study design, best practices to serve as a resource for future projects within the office. “A Wallflower in Barcelona: an Urban Design Study”, HonBlue Incorporated Research Travel Scholarship, 2005 The travel study is an urban design comparative analysis of the major public spaces in Barcelona including plazas, streetscape types. The study looks at spatial and program relationships and observation to understand why certain public spaces are more inviting than others.

Ithaca firmCrawl 2016 Envisioned a program, the first of its kind in the region for a firm crawl of Ithaca architectural, planning, landscape, and engineering firms as a way for the professional community to network and reach out to the public. I was charged with organizing the event, graphics, social media, and public outreach. Seven offices in the Ithaca area participated and an estimated 200 people attended. Chapter Website Revamp Responsible for revamping the chapter website from the ground up to meet National accreditation requirements. Communications Practices Improve communication between the board and members by sending monthly newsletters to members and friends of upcoming events and opportunities, providing a simple email that sends to all board members to make quicker decisions and keep all board members appraised of the latest news. Chapter Documents Updating the chapter documents, including letterhead, emails, sponsorship package levels to provide a consistent digital face to the chapter.
