COURTNEY + JOSH S E P T E M B E R 29, 2015 The bride and groom have known each other since middle school. They became best friends in high school, but never dated until a couple of years later. Courtney had always wanted a destination wedding in Hawaii and after
cutting the cake, her father surprised the newlyweds with a hula dancer (whose dance was dedicated to the couple) and a traditional Hawaiian band
singing and serenading them. They each were kissed and given a lei - a favorite
memor y of their day, which they say, was better than a destination wedding.

would stand the test of time so they chose soft neutrals paired with classic black. W ith the only real color, elegant blush, cranberr y and greens, appearing in the florals, they designed a Januar y wedding that looks fresh in all seasons.

“My aesthetic tends to run on the more polished and elegant side of the scale, even when designing within an urban or rustic space. Like many of our design processes, one element happened to steer and set the tone for the rest of the design. In this case, we sourced a custom-made napkin that featured a bold floral pattern atop a black background. I knew I didn’t want black to be a major focus, but I knew it would lend itself as a great anchor in the design to complement the exposed brick walls, raw wood beams and urban vibe of the venue. (Mara, Fuse) U TA H B R I D E B L O G | W I N T E R / S P R I N G 201 6

Designed by West End Girl, the paper goods tied in so well with the details because Fuse works so closely with their vendors and they collaborate creatively together. West End Girl used pops of dark mixed with spring colors to create intriguing contrast. The napkin fabric was scanned so she could replicate it seamlessly into the paper goods, she used it as an envelop liner and RSVP envelope. A simple + elegant design with a touch of blush hand lettering throughout to read spring + bridal.

“ W hen working with Decoration Inc. on the floral elements, we opted for anemone to pull in the black hue. Along with other white and ivor y floral blooms, I felt it was imperative to incorporate (and even overload) on greener y. For me nothing screams spring like fresh blooms and bright green leaves and grass all around. Alpine Event Rentals new farmhouse canopy made for the perfect structure to hang our greens from. The wood not only complimented the venue but helped to guide the design of the garlands and greener y, it made for a spectacular vignette. I would love to see this exact application at a wedding reception, over the head table. (Mara, Fuse)

Nothing says spring like fresh local strawberries and asparagus. This salad was inspired with seasonal spring ingredients and updated with a trendy presentation. To give the white bistro plates a pop, the pretty pink beet dijon vinaigrette is pooled on a large dinner plate. Shaved asparagus and fennel build the salad with garnishes of sliced strawberries, candied walnuts, and micro greens. A simple crusty mini baguette is elevated to “wedding dinner status by wrapping it in white parchment paper, black and white twine, and emphasizing spring with a single rose bud.
