THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!

It is a great joy and an enormous responsibility to celebrate the first edition of Mallorca by UTMB®. An event which we hope will leave an indelible memory in our hearts. Therefore, first of all, we would like to thank the volunteers, collaborators, suppliers, institutions and all the people involved for their contribution to making Mallorca by UTMB® a reality.

UTMB® World Series arrives in Mallorca with the firm conviction of leaving a positive mark on the island, both in the sporting, social and environmental spheres. Beyond offering a unique trail running experience to the participants, we are committed to sustainability and the preservation of our natural environment, especially the emblematic Serra de Tramuntana.

An example of this commitment is the recent signing of an agreement between the race management and the Fornalutx Town Council, through the UTMB® Cares Foundation, to restore the historic Portell de sa Costa path. As well as restoring the path, this action is a symbol of the commitment of the UTMB® Group to the island of Mallorca, promoting the conservation and improvement of natural spaces.

On the other hand, as part of our effort to contribute to the local community, runners wishing to support solidarity projects have had the possibility of purchasing a series of Solidarity Bibs for the 2024 event. Through the UTMB® Cares foundation, the funds raised will go to selected initiatives promoting solidarity, health, inclusion and the environment. The beneficiary organisations of these donations are ASPANOB, which supports children with cancer and their families, and ACCIÓ SOCIAL SÓLLER, which works to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable in the valley of Sóller and ARRELS MARINES, a non-profit organisation that works for the marine regeneration of the Balearic Sea. With this initiative, we invite all runners to add their efforts to these noble causes, demonstrating that sport can be a powerful tool for social change.

From Mallorca by UTMB® we want to promote generosity and unity through sport. To build together an event in which the human aspect is at the centre of our demands and our commitments. To celebrate together the values that this extraordinary sport promotes such as personal improvement, solidarity and respect. And, above all, to share and enjoy the great moments that these unforgettable experiences offer us.

¡Welcome to Mallorca by UTMB®!

AN EXPERIENCE THAT YOU HAVE TO LIVE

UNA ISLA, INNUMERABLES TESOROS

She is one of the best trail runners in Spain. But in addition to competing, Àngels Llobera combines the international circuit with her work as a physical education teacher and caring for her daughter. Born in Pollença, she is undoubtedly a great ambassador for the island where she was born, Mallorca.

“You have to experience in situ what the Serra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is like. The runner will get to know the limestone rock, run along cliffs overlooking the sea... These are aspects that make this event different.

Mallorca, unlike other Balearic Islands with less mountainous areas, has an altitude of up to 1,300 metres, and a very characteristic terrain. However, Mallorca is not only the Serra de Tramuntana, it is also its beaches. Combining land and sea in a race is a marvel.

On the other hand, Mallorca’s gastronomy is spectacular. There are very typical dishes such as the Mallorcan tumbet, made with potatoes, red peppers, aubergines and tomato sauce, and serves as an accompaniment to fish and meat. Another typical summer dish is trampó, with vegetables such as tomato, green pepper, and onion, cut in their natural state, with olive oil, which is usually eaten with Mallorcan bread, which is a little thicker than normal bread. And we also have well-known products such as sobrasada and ensaimada.

In Mallorca we speak Mallorcan, which is a dialect of Catalan, we have our own language, and in many villages we maintain traditional festivals that come from the past, which gives the island a singularity.

I hope that Mallorca by UTMB® will serve to make Mallorca a reference point in the world of trail running at an international level. I think it is very important for Mallorca and for the Mallorcans to feel that we have a race on our island that is as recognised as a UTMB® World Series event.”

UTMB® FOR THE PLANET is the name of the UTMB® Group’s sustainability strategy, the fruit of our commitment to create a positive impact on the world, because we are aware of the importance of our role in shaping a sustainable future for our sport, our communities, and our planet.

UTMB® FOR THE PLANET is a promise to our stakeholders, our participants, and our communities that we will strive to make a difference. We are involved in the preservation of the landscapes in which we run, leaving a constructive legacy in the territories we touch, guaranteeing the well-being of each runner who joins us on this journey.

The strategy is based on three fundamental pillars:

Environment

Which includes initiatives that aim to support the regeneration of our mountain ecosystems and minimise our impact on the environment.

Territory

Which aims to leave a positive legacy at each destination of the UTMB® World Series.

People

In order to ensure that all runners are welcome, and to protect their well-being at UTMB® events.

ALL ATHLETES ARE WELCOME TO THE UTMB® WORLD SERIES

As part of its commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion in trail running, the UTMB® Group has developed a Disabled Athletes Policy. An initiative which aims to facilitate participation and provide support for athletes with disabilities.

The new policy promoted by the UTMB® Group has been created after a long process in which the opinion of numerous groups of athletes with disabilities has been taken into account. Among them is Amy Winters, a professional athlete with a below knee amputation, who holds 13 world records in different endurance events. She has completed the Western States™ 100 Endurance Run and also participated in the UTMB® 100M race on the HOKA UTMB® Mont-Blanc.

“UTMB® is committed to inspiring others to do their best and strive for a more ambitious goal. The creation and implementation of this policy is an important step that will surely evolve into something better, and give more opportunities for those who think they can’t run in the mountains”, said Amy Winters.

This new disabled athlete policy details eligibility criteria that includes athletes with varying levels of permanent visual impairment, intellectual disability, or physical or neurological movement disability.

In this way, each athlete will have the option to run with their chosen guide, who will receive a free race bib. And while the adapted athletes must be able to physically complete the course on their own, the guide runners will accompany them for all or part of the race to help them reach their goals safely.

UTMB® WORLD SERIES SUPPORTS MOTHERS

AND FATHERS RUNNERS

From the beginning of 2023, the UTMB® World Series has launched an initiative to support mothers and their partners by introducing a new policy concerning pregnancy.

This policy is aimed at pregnant athletes and athletes whose partner is pregnant, as well as athletes in the process of adoption or surrogate motherhood, in countries where it is permitted, making it easier for new parents to return to the trail in a safe environment and within a sufficient period of time after the arrival of a child.

The features of this new policy are as follows:

Full reimbursement for pregnant women, and priority access within five years for 50K, 100K and 100M category races, and within two years for 20K category races.

The possibility for couples, parents in the process of adoption, or involved in surrogacy, to choose between postponing their registration for two years or receiving a full refund.

For transgender and non-binary people there are numerous projects and initiatives in development.

For events with a draw such as HOKA UTMB® Mont-Blanc, Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB®, and Eiger Ultra Trail by UTMB®, the policy states that athletes will receive a full refund and priority registration which can be used within five years for 50K, 100K and 100M category races, and within two years for 20K races. In this way, the UTMB® World Series demonstrates its efforts to encourage the participation of women in mountain races and its commitment to equal opportunities.

SOLIDARITY BIBS

With the aim of contributing to the local community, Mallorca by UTMB® has put on sale 34 Solidarity Bibs for the 2024 event, an initiative which has been running for years at HOKA UTMB® Mont-Blanc.

With practically all the distances having been sold out for months, runners have been offered the option of accessing a series of Solidarity Bibs and in this way supporting a series of local projects related to solidarity, health, inclusion and the environment. Through the UTMB® Cares foundation, the funds raised will be allocated to a series of carefully selected initiatives. The beneficiary organisations of these donations are: ASPANOB, ACCIÓ SOCIAL SÓLLER, ARRELS MARINES.

The donations are collected by UTMB® Cares, a non-profit foundation created by the UTMB® Group. A global initiative to unite the worldwide trail running community and create positive change by supporting local social and environmental causes in the race destinations of the circuit. Rooted in the values of solidarity, respect, inclusion, authenticity and humility, UTMB® Cares uses the global platform of the UTMB® World Series to influence local positive change by focusing on three main pillars: people, the environment, and communities.

With this initiative, we invite all runners to add their efforts to these noble causes, demonstrating that sport can be a powerful tool for social change.

ASPANOB, which supports children with cancer and their families.

ACCIÓ SOCIAL SÓLLER, which works to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable in the Sóller valley.

ARRELS MARINES, a non-profit organization that works for the marine regeneration of the Balearic Sea.

SERRA DE TRAMUNTANA

UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE

The Serra de Tramuntana is the main mountain range in the Balearic Islands, and one of the most visited tourist attractions in Mallorca. It is a natural landscape with a surface area of 63,084 hectares, of which 1,123 are marine. It stretches along the northwest coast of Mallorca and is characterised by its impressive landscapes, which include rugged peaks, deep valleys and hidden coves.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Cultural Landscape category on 29 June 2011, the Serra de Tramuntana Natural Site is one of the best examples of the perfect integration of the human footprint with nature, offering as a result an interesting blend of culture, heritage and nature.

Its 90 kilometres are made up of 20 municipalities, from Andratx to Pollença, with picturesque towns such as Sóller, Fornalutx, Deià, Valldemossa, Banyalbufar, Estellencs, Sant Elm or Galilea, which show in countless details what life is like in the surroundings of this mountain range.

The Serra de Tramuntana offers a variety of incredible landscapes, and its extraordinary views, with peaks of more than 1,000 metres, surprise all those who venture along its cobbled paths.

HOW TO GET THERE

Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands, an archipelago located in the westernmost Mediterranean. The most comfortable way to travel to the island is by air, since Palma’s international airport offers great connectivity with other Spanish or European cities. But there are many more options. Because Mallorca is a very well connected island.

IF YOU TRAVEL BY BOAT

Mallorca has two ports intended for passenger traffic, the port of Palma, the main port of the island, and the port of Alcúdia. Three companies currently connect Mallorca with other Spanish ports (Barcelona, Valencia and Denia), in addition to linking with the rest of the Balearic Islands (Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera). It is also possible to reach our island by sea from France (Toulon).

PORT OF ALCÚDIA

The Port of Alcúdia is located on the north coast of Mallorca, in the bay of the same name. It is a very popular summer resort for the Mallorcan population and one of the busiest tourist areas.

PALMA PORT

Palma is connected to Barcelona, Valencia and Denia. The journey to the Peninsula lasts between six and eight hours, depending on the destination and type of boat.

IF YOU TRAVEL BY PLANE

The most comfortable and fastest way to get to the island is by plane, since Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI), also known as Son Sant Joan International Airport, is the third largest airport in Spain and is one of the airports with the greatest air connectivity in the Mediterranean. Destinations and airlines HERE

More than 70 airlines operate at the airport. The main European capitals are less than 3 hours away by flight, Madrid is 1 hour away, and Barcelona is approximately 30 minutes away.

GETTING AROUND MALLORCA

You have several options for getting around Mallorca!

Public transport (bus or train) or private transport (vehicle rental).

IF YOU TRAVEL BY BUS

Getting around Mallorca by bus is an option, but only to connect important cities. Mallorca has a public transport network managed by Transport of the Balearic Islands (TIP), which links Palma with the main population centers of the entire island.

Check schedules and rates HERE.

On race days, the organisation will provide bus transportation to those runners staying in different areas of the island.

IF YOU TRAVEL BY TRAIN

The island has three major train lines and all of them depart from the Palma de Mallorca Intermodal station, which is located in Plaza de España.

• T1 is the line that ends in Inca Estació and runs through a good part of northern Mallorca.

• The T2 reaches Sa Pobla, one of the most important towns in the east of Mallorca.

• T3 heads towards Manacor, a town that serves to explore the south of Mallorca.

Sustainable Transport Plan TRANSPORT TO AND FROM THE START AND RETURN FOR RUNNERS

Use public transport to save the environment!

Mallorca by UTMB® has set up a transport plan which offers a collective solution for the travel of runners to the START and return to their place of origin.

Tickets must be purchased on the registration platform through your runner area. Tickets are for runners only, not for supporters. Prices vary according to the stripe (information at the time of registration). You can buy a return ticket or a one-way ticket. They are separate tickets. The tickets you purchase will be indicated on your bib number, so when you board the bus, your bib number will be checked. No tickets will be sold during the event or in the Ultra-Trail Village

Prices include VAT and Compulsory Travel Insurance. The transport is operated by a specialised company.

The two departure points, Sóller and Valldemossa, have very limited public parking facilities. We therefore recommend that you book your trip in advance. We cannot guarantee that you will be able to park your car in the departure towns.

Cities from which we depart or stop are as follows:

DEPARTURES - SÓLLER (M5000,SDT Y ETM):

• Palma de Mallorca

• Pollença

• Port de Sóller

• Bunyola

• Inca

DEPARTURES - VALLDEMOSSA (CDA):

• Palma de Mallorca

• Pollença

• Port de Sóller

• Bunyola

• Inca

• Sóller

Runners must book their bus seat PRIOR to the race, on their registration page.

In Mallorca by UTMB® we are committed to minimising our impact on the environment, and for this reason we have implemented a transport plan which promotes sustainability and respect for the natural environment. With this initiative, we seek to significantly reduce the number of vehicles circulating around the island during the event, minimising the inconvenience to the local population and reducing the ecological impact.

MORE MOUNTAINS, MORE LIFE

From Mallorca by UTMB®

we want to propose a series of good practices so that our dream, your dream, remains a reality.

Thank you for your collaboration!

THE MOUNTAIN HAS ITS LAW

Have fun while practicing sports, but always respect the regulations of the area. Try to follow the routes marked in advance, and avoid shortcuts that cause unnecessary erosion of the terrain.

The Serra de Tramuntana is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a protected natural area, so you must comply with a series of rules to travel through it. Learn more about the Serra de Tramontana HERE

EVERY DROP COUNTS

Don’t waste water. Buy only what you need and avoid single-use plastics and disposable materials.

REUSE YOUR DROP BAG

If you have already participated in a race of UTMB® World Series and you keep your life bag, give it a second chance and reuse it in. Be sustainable.

SEPARATE GIVES LIFE

Deposit waste in the authorized selective collection containers. Outside of the aid stations, carry them with you in your backpack to the nearest trash can.

HYGIENE IN NATURE

Do not pollute fountains and streams with your biological waste. Make sure your feces are well covered and away from trails and water areas. Use as little toilet paper as possible to reduce waste, and remember to take it with you and deposit it in the designated containers. In the envelope along with your bib number you will find a bag for this purpose, but it doesn’t hurt to carry another one.

YOU LOOK, BUT YOU DON’T TOUCH

While you run or walk, do not disturb the fauna and flora, especially in the mountains.

THE BEST SOUND IS THAT OF NATURE

Noise pollution can bother both people and native species. Avoid unnecessary noise and commotion so as not to disturb, especially in mountain areas.

PURE MOUNTAIN AIR

Avoid unnecessary CO2 emissions. Use public transportation when traveling within the island, if possible. If you need to use your vehicle, park it in the parking spaces provided for this purpose.

THE MOUNTAIN IN OFF

When you are not driving, always turn off the engines.

WE TAKE CARE OF PEOPLE

Help boost rural economies by using local services and consuming local products.

BE AWARE OF WHERE YOU GO

When passing through a barrier or gate, always leave it closed. And remember, if you pass through private lands, do not pick fruits from the trees without authorization from the owner.

MY HOUSE IS YOURS

Take care of the natural environment and leave it as it would be if you had not passed through there.

REMINDERS

REMEMBER !

You must have contracted accident insurance that you must upload on your registration page, or purchase the one offered by the race organisation on the registration platform. The bib will not be given to those runners without accident insurance loaded on the registration platform. It is the rider’s responsibility to have adequate insurance. The organisation will only verify that the runner has insurance and it is current.

REMEMBER !

Book your appointment to pick up your SDT, M5000 and M5000 Relleus, ETM, and CDA bib on your registration page if you have not already done so.

REMEMBER !

It will not be possible to change the runner’s shirt that we will give you along with the bib.

REMEMBER !

If when you arrive in Spain you have contracted a mobile phone line, remember to communicate your new phone number to the organisation. You can modify it by entering your registration page, or request the change in the bib collection.

REMEMBER !

Download the free application for tracking and information: LIVETRAIL.

REMEMBER !

During the race, keep in mind that when passing through a checkpoint you must leave it before the deadline set by the organisation (regardless of the time you arrived).

RELEVANT INFORMATION

ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATION

Participation in the Mallorca by UTMB® races implies the express and unreserved acceptance of the regulations published on the web page mallorca.utmb.world and of any instructions given by the organiser and his team to the participants. It also implies the acceptance of the basic rules of companionship and help between runners and of measures of eco-responsibility.

PREVIOUS APPOINTMENT FOR THE BIBS

To avoid crowds and unnecessary waiting times, a PRIOR APPOINTMENT must be requested to collect bibs. Runners can reserve the time slot that best suits their needs to collect their bib through their registration page. Bibs will not be delivered without having a PRIOR APPOINTMENT.

DELIVERY OF BIBS

For bib collection, which will take place at the Ultra-Trail ® Village, in Sóller, it will be mandatory to present ID, supporting document or PASSPORT.

In addition, runners must have uploaded their accident insurance on the registration platform prior to the event, or have purchased the insurance proposed by the organisation.

NO BIB BIB WILL BE GIVEN TO A RUNNER WITHOUT ACCIDENT INSURANCE.

The collection of bibs will be personal. No bib number can be collected by a third person for security reasons. We must verify the veracity of the data in person and each of you will be given the runner’s bracelet that gives access to the race services.

The bib number must be worn on the chest or belly and must be visible permanently and in its entirety throughout the race. It must always be positioned above any garment and, in no case, can it be fixed on the backpack or a leg.

The bib number is the necessary pass to access buses, aid stations, infirmaries, storage areas, or bag recovery... Except in the case of refusing to obey the decision of a race official, the bib number is never withdrawn, but in case withdraw is deactivated and checked.

CONTROL

Each runner will be given 2 electronic chips (front bib and backpack bib) except Escales del Calvari, en la CDA y la PDS - Joves Promeses, and an identification bracelet. Some checkpoints will be automatic and others manual. There will be other surprise checkpoints carried out by the organisation.

Runners who are not in possession of their chips and bracelet will be penalised.

The use of the chip is very important to be able to control your times.

You must place the chip in your race backpack, visibly, with a clip which you will find in the envelope of your bib number.

DROP BAGS

For logistical reasons, UTMB® World Series events only accept UTMB® World Series drop bags, which are distributed at the bib delivery. These bags are reusable, so we ask runners who have already received one of these bags to reuse it each time they participate in a UTMB® World Series event.

SDT:

At the time of bib delivery, each participant receives 3 30-liter bags. After filling them with those clothes and utensils that the runner considers, they will deposit them in a place close to the departure. One of the bags will be transferred by the organisation to the POLLENÇA aid station, another to the BUNYOLA aid station, and another to PORT DE SÓLLER. When the runner arrives at said aid stations, he or she will be able to pick up the bag. When the runner leaves the aid station, the runner in person will have to deposit the bag in the area indicated for this purpose. The organisation will return the bags to PORT DE SÓLLER.

M5000:

At the time of bib delivery, each participant receives 2 30-liter bags. After filling them with those clothes and utensils that the runner considers, they will deposit them in a place close to the departure. A bag will be transferred by the organisation to the LLUC aid station. The second bag will be taken to the finish line in POLLENÇA. When the runner arrives at the aid station, he or she will be able to pick up the bag. When the runner leaves the aid station, the runner in person will have to deposit the bag in the area indicated for this purpose. The organisation will return the bag to POLLENÇA.

ETM and CDA:

At the time of bib delivery, each participant receives 1 30-liter bag. After filling it with those clothes and utensils that the runner considers, he will deposit it at the starting line. The organisation will transfer the bag to PORT DE SÓLLER.

RECOVERY OF THE BAGS

Runners, or their relatives, will be able to collect the bags upon presentation of their bib number. They must be rcollected at the finish line no later than two hours after the close of the race. The organisation ensures the return of the bags of runners who have abandoned, provided that the abandonment has been registered.

The return time of the bag will depend on logistical needs. The organisation does not guarantee the return of all bags in Port de Sóller / Pollença before the end of the race.

Only the bags provided by the organisation will be transported. Poles cannot be transported in bags. The contents of the bags will not be verified, and no complaints about their contents will be entertained.

It is recommended not to deposit valuable objects. We recommend that you have spare clothes and hygiene products in the arrival areas.

GLASS AND PLATE

In order to avoid the waste of disposable plastic cups, plates and cutlery during the race, everyone must bring their own, with a minimum capacity of 15 cl.

Attention!

Canteens or containers with lids are not accepted in place of glasses.

BYOU “BRING YOUR OWN UTENSILS”

The organisation will not distribute any type of disposable tableware (cutlery, glasses, bowls) at the life bases or aid stations. The organisation will not distribute any type of disposable tableware (cutlery, glasses, bowls) at the life bases or aid stations.

BYOU

ARE YOU SPONSORED?

Perfect, but you can only show it on the clothing or material used during the race. Any other advertising accessory (flag, banner...) is prohibited at any point along the route, including the finish line.

ENVIRONMENT

Help us preserve natural spaces. Don’t throw your waste on the routes! We all share the responsibility of keeping our playing field clean. Don’t forget to bring a bag to transport your waste between two points equipped with trash cans.

Remember: The Serra de Tramuntana is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a protected natural area, so you must comply with a series of rules to travel through it. Learn more about the Serra de Tramontana HERE.

RESPECT FOR THE RULES AND RACE MARSHALS

Volunteers are there to help you, but also to ensure respect for the rules. Among them, the race marshals will have precise orders, especially with regard to the immediate application of penalties in real time in case of not respecting the Regulations.

Downtime penalties apply during the race. Specifically, this penalty entails a regression in the classification for those who are at the head of the race, and the risk of not passing the time barrier for those who are in further back positions.

The race marshals are authorized to control the mandatory material at the start and at various points along the route. The absence of an element of the mandatory safety material implies immediate disqualification.

To know the penalties applied you can read the complete Regulations in: mallorca.utmb.world The most important cases will be analyzed in coordination with the career direction.

AID STATIONS

All races are carried out on a semi-autonomous basis and, therefore, runners will also have to provide their own reserves. Runners must be able to organize their own survival between two aid stations. For this reason, at the departure of the aid station, only liquids may be provided.

The organisation will provide liquid and solid provisioning along the routes. The organisation provides mineral water or energy drink to refill the obligatory liquid bags and individual cups. It is the responsibility of the runner to have, when leaving the aid station, the necessary amount of drink and food to reach the next aid station.

Only runners wearing a visible race bib on their chest or belly and their wristband will have access to the aid stations.

The organisation will only provide water or energy drinks to fill the flasks or hydration bags. Other drinks must only be consumed at the aid stations.

There will be 3 types of supplies: Drinks only. Full supply. Hot food supply (SDT - M5000).

TIME BARRIERS AND CONTROLS

These time barriers are calculated to allow participants to reach the finish line in the maximum time imposed, making eventual stops (food, rest...). To be authorized to continue the race, participants must leave the checkpoint before the posted cut-off time (regardless of the time of arrival at the checkpoint).

Participants will have to pass through the checkpoints that will be clearly visible and that, for the most part, coincide with the aid stations. At each checkpoint there will be staff from the organisation who will verify the passage of the runners. Participants are responsible for ensuring that the controller has verified their passage through each checkpoint .

A broom team from the organisation will do the route closing the races. The instructions of the organisation and security personnel must be followed at all times. No runner may leave a checkpoint behind the broom team.

MARKING

For better night vision, the beacons are equipped with a part made of reflective material that reflects the light from the front.

ATTENTION

If you don’t see markers, turn back!

*Out of respect for the environment, no type of paint is used on the trails.

WITHDRAW AND SECURITY

Except in the case of injury or accident, a participant may not abandon the race except at an aid station set up for withdraw.

In case of withdraw, you must notify the organisation staff as quickly as possible at the nearest aid station or, if not, by calling the Race Control Center (CECOR) telephone number found on the race number. In this case, the number will be marked as “withdraw”. The runner will keep his/ her bib as it is the passport to access buses and other services.

The participant will also have to inform the aid station how he/she will return to his/her place of origin, or if he/she needs transport to the departure point or to the nearest point with public transportation service. All runners who have withdrawn will be evacuated to the finish line or to a point with public transportation service (free for runners). Of course, it must be taken into account that the logistics in these cases are complicated and the runner may have to wait a while before transportation. We ask for your understanding.

Runners who withdraw at another point on the route, or at an aid station where no possible transportation is planned, but whose health status does not require evacuation, must reach the nearest transport/return point as soon as possible, and by their own means.

In case of unfavorable weather conditions that justify the partial or total suspension of the race, the organisation ensures the runners’ return to the finish line in the shortest possible time.

In case of withdraw due to injury or accident that prevents the approach on foot to the nearest checkpoint, the participant must report the situation to the event’s emergency center, whose telephone number will be found on their bib number (Race Control Center Emergency Telephone +34 973 643 651) , or to112.

Emergency telephone

CECOR

+34 973 643 651

112 Emergencies

We recommend saving these numbers in your contact book as “ aaMLL ” to make it easier to find them if necessary.

Solidarity among participants is key for these cases. Collaboration must take precedence over competitiveness. Respect and camaraderie between runners will be crucial in this type of situation.

PERSONAL ASSISTANCE

Personal assistance is allowed only at some aid stations. The aid stations where assistance is allowed are: SDT POLLENÇA AND BUNYOLA M5000

LLUC (except in the relay version where attendance is not allowed).

Access by private vehicle to most of the aid stations is not allowed. Please consult the Companion Guide starting from page 104.

ASSISTANCE IS NOT ALLOWED AT THE REST OF THE DISTANCES .

Aid stations with assistance allowed :

SDT

AID. 4 POLLENÇA (KM. 45)

AID. 10 BUNYOLA (KM. 108)

M5000

AID. 5 LLUC (KM. 46)

Only one person will provide assistance, in the area specifically reserved for this use, after identifying themselves by means of a “SUPPORTER – Number BIB” accreditation and at the discretion of the head of the supply station (the rest of the supply station is strictly reserved for the runners). SUPPORTER accreditations are delivered at the time of bib collection. The runner is free to give them to the people he/she considers.

Your assistance only has the right to access with a hand bag (maximum 30 liters) to transport the necessary products (food, clothing...). Assistance provided by professionals, or any medical or paramedical professional, is strictly prohibited. This measure is a guarantee of equity between runners. Naturally this does not prevent your family and friends from supporting you throughout the race.

In order to ensure that everything runs smoothly and harmoniously, please ask your assistants to respect the instructions of the aid station manager.

COMPANY ON THE ROUTE

Always in order to ensure equality between competitors, whatever their level, it is prohibited for an unregistered person to accompany you in any part or all of the race, outside of the clearly identified tolerance zones near the aid stations. This authorizes small family walks at confluence sites, but prohibits “hares.”

There will be race marshals at various points along the route and they will be able to impose penalties in real time if the Regulations are not respected.

RELEVANT INFORMATION

NEUTRALISED SECTIONS

It is the will of the UTMB® Group to protect and cause the least possible impact on the paths along which our races take place. For this reason, and by express indications of the management of Paratge Natural de Serra de Tramuntana, there will be two neutralised sections in some of the races:

In the SDT 100M distance, at km. 70 aprox. and M5000 / M5000 Relleus distance, at km. 30 aprox. With the aim of protecting this historic pass, this stretch of around 600 metres, which will be signposted, will be neutralised.

What does neutralised section mean?

In these two sections, which will be signposted at the start and finish, the runner cannot run, overtake or use poles. They may only walk. Any runner who does not comply with the ban on running in these sections may be penalised with a minimum of 30 minutes penalty to be served at the next aid station. There will be Referees from the UTMB® World Series and Environmental Officers from the Government of Mallorca who will apply, indistinctly, these penalties, and even the prohibition to continue in the race.

Section of the distances SDT 100M, at km. 128 aprox. and CDA 20K, at km. 8 aprox. A singular section with a high degree of erosion. It is a downhill section of 250 metres.

FOR THE GOOD OF THESE TWO NATURAL SPACES WE ASK FOR YOUR MAXIMUM COLLABORATION.

Reminder about the use of poles:

We remind you that according to the environmental regulations of the Paratge Natural de Serra de Tramuntana, the use of walking poles is authorised as long as they have rubber tips, and the runner also carries a spare pair of rubber tips in case the first ones are lost.

Canaleta de Massanella.

SHARED MOUNTAINS

Trail running races are held in open areas, in the mountains, and in villages. Spaces that we share with other people. As runners, we do not have exclusive use of these trails, so we must respect other users, whether they are cyclists, walkers, horse riders... We all have the right to enjoy this spectacular natural environment, and we must all respect it, and respect each other.

Mallorca by UTMB® is held thanks to the generosity of numerous private estate owners. Many of these are only allowed to be used during the races. Respect the owners and do not enter private properties without authorisation. Close the cattle control gates as you pass through. We will provide the Gpx files a few days before the race, so you can upload them to your watch. This does not generate rights of way for the rest of the year.

The roads, streets and tracks are open to vehicular traffic. As a runner you have no right of way and must comply with the traffic rules for pedestrians. Road crossings will be marked with signs. Before crossing, make sure that there are no vehicles in traffic.

SECURITY

METEOROLOGY

The Mallorca by UTMB® races take place in the middle of nature, in mountainous areas, in isolated areas (far from the main road networks, telecommunications...), with weather that can change very quickly and become adverse.

Instructions to keep in mind during the race:

• Don’t stop in high areas.

• If you lose the beacons, turn around to look for the last one.

• Stay on the roads.

Tips for dealing with complicated weather:

• Anticipate extreme heat and cold.

• Don’t wait until you are shivering to get warm.

• Don’t change exposed in the wind: Anticipate or wait until you are under cover.

• Protect yourself from the sun.

POLES

Be careful with the poles, especially in the first part of the race, where the density of runners is particularly high. Do not use the straps during descents since, in the event of a strong fall, the straps prevent proper recovery with the hands (injuries to the shoulders, wrists, forearms..., or head).

NUTRITION AND HYDRATION

Hydration and energy intake must be adapted to the weather conditions, and enriched with salts throughout the effort. Maintain a good balance between slow sugars and fast sugars.

TIREDNESS AND CONCENTRATION

At the aid stations there are places provided to rest. We recommend that runners rest at the aid stations set up for this purpose.

Every runner must stay on the marked path, even when sleeping. If you need to sleep on the way, it is highly advisable to use the “sleep bib” provided by the organisation (SDT). This number allows you to indicate that you want to get some sleep without being disturbed. It can be dangerous to stop alone in nature to sleep.

Tiredness and lack of concentration can be the cause of an accident. Run according to your possibilities in order to reserve energy to overcome a difficult situation, such as a sudden change in weather.

Any runner who voluntarily leaves the marked path is no longer under the responsibility of the organisation.

MANDATORY INDIVIDUAL INSURANCE

In order to take the departure, we remind you that every participant must be in possession of individual accident insurance that covers rescue and evacuation expenses in the mountains, in Spanish territory, up to at least 1,500 meters of altitude, as well as probable expenses of hospitalisation

The insurance must cover the practice of trail running and participation in long-distance mountain races. The insurance can be subscribed from any organisation, federation, or insurance company of the participant’s choice as long as it meets the REQUIREMENTS INDICATED ABOVE.

Verify with your insurance company or federation that your insurance meets the requirements.

IT IS THE RUNNER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE APPROPRIATE INSURANCE. THE ORGANISATION WILL ONLY VERIFY THAT THE RUNNER HAS INSURANCE AND IT IS CURRENT. IN THE EVENT OF NOT COMPLYING WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS, IT WILL BE THE RUNNER THEMSELVES WHO WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE MEDICAL AND RESCUE EXPENSES.

However, the organisation makes available to runners who do not have insurance that meets the requirements, or wish to expand coverage, the possibility of purchasing one by going to the registration platform. Highly recommended for all runners.

The bib will not be given to those runners who have not uploaded their accident insurance on the registration platform or, if they do not have it, who have not taken out the insurance offered by the organisation. Having accident insurance is a requirement to run in Mallorca by UTMB®.

Medical evacuations by helicopter and periods of hospitalisation may be chargeable. The choice of an evacuation depends exclusively on the organisation, which will systematically prioritise the safety of the participants. The choice of the means of evacuation and the place of hospitalisation depends only on the decision of the lifeguards and official doctors. The expenses resulting from the use of exceptional relief or evacuation means will be borne by the person assisted, who must also ensure their return from the place where they will have been evacuated. It is the exclusive task of the runner to present a dossier or open a file to his personal insurer within the corresponding period after evacuation and medical treatment

The organisation will take out Civil Liability insurance in the name of each runner (already included in the registration price), according to the regulations of the competent authority in each case.

SECURITY

TIMING AND CHECK POINT

LiveTrail will be used for the timing and tracking of the runners. The bibs will incorporate a single-use chip attached to them (which must not be returned), as well as an additional chip that each runner must place in their backpack.

At the checkpoints (identified on the map) you must pass the chip control, which will be carried out manually by a duly identified volunteer, or it will be automatic by radio frequency.

Each participant must make sure to pass the chip, and assists in its control, at all checkpoints established by the organisation. Failure to pass a timing checkpoint will result in the DISQUALIFICATION of the participant.

The identification of the runner at the checkpoints depends on the chip control and not on the passing judges.

LIVETRAIL

It is a reference application for your safety, providing important race information (real-time monitoring of your race and that of your friends). In case of SOS, there is a function that allows you to send your GPS position directly to the organisation by SMS. This represents a vital time saving for the rescue.

The smartphone is mandatory during the race, it must have a battery, and be operational. Under no circumstances should you use airplane mode as we may have to contact you before, during, and after the race.

Smartphones are required to use the LiveTrail® application. It is essential for your safety. For runners who will spend more than 15 hours racing, it is advisable to carry an external battery.

Check that the number you have indicated us as an emergency contact number is the person you wish to be contacted in case of problems.

Very important: To avoid aggravating circumstances in case of accident, make sure that your information is correct on the registration platform. You can update it until the beginning of your race.

Attention!

In no case should it replace a call to the Race Control Center (CECOR).

AID AND MEDICAL SERVICES

There are several help and control points along the route. These points are connected by radio or telephone with the Race Control Center (the Control Center number, CECOR, +34 +34 973 643 651, will be printed on the bib), where there will be a medical team throughout the race.

The help points are intended to provide assistance to anyone with the organisation’s own or public resources.

It is the responsibility of a runner in difficulty to ask for help:

• Reporting to the help point.

• Calling the Control Center (CECOR).

• Asking another runner to request assistance.

• Using the SOS feature of the LiveTrail app .

Every runner must assist anyone in difficulty and ask for help. In addition, he/she must remain next to the runner in distress until the arrival of the organisation’s staff.

If it is impossible to contact the Race Control Center, +34 973 643 651, it is possible to call the emergency services directly (particularly in areas where only emergency calls are possible) by calling the telephone number 112.

We must not forget the difficulties of all kinds, linked to the environment and the race, which can make you wait for help longer than expected. Safety will then depend on the quality of the material carried in the backpack.

Before you start, be sure to register the emergency numbers on your mobile phone !

COMPANION

Because you are that essential encouragement to cross the finish line. Because without your help and support, we would not have made it this far. Because your presence is just as important as that of those who have decided to add more kilometres to their running shoes.

For all of these reasons, at Mallorca by UTMB ®️ we have prepared this Guide for the Companion. So that you can live this experience and enjoy all the possibilities that this magical island offers you.

ATTENDANCE

PERSONAL ASSISTANCE- SUPPORTER

Assistance to the runner is allowed only at some aid stations. The aid stations where assistance is allowed are: POLLENÇA, BUNYOLA and LLUC. Assistance must be provided by a single person, in the area specifically reserved for this use, after identifying themselves as a “SUPPORTER” through their accreditation, and at the discretion of the aid station manager (the rest of the aid station is strictly reserved for runners). “SUPPORTER” accreditations are provided at the time of bib delivery. The runner is free to give the accreditation to the person he or she considers.

Assistance only has the right to access with a hand bag (maximum 30 liters) to transport the necessary products (food, clothing...). Assistance provided by professionals, or any medical or paramedical professional, is strictly prohibited. This measure is a guarantee of equity between runners. Naturally this does not prevent families and friends from supporting the runner throughout the entire route. Respect the instructions of the head of the aid station.

No assistance is allowed at any point for the ETM, M5000 RELLEUS and CDA races.

REMEMBER!

You can encourage and accompany your runner by following the established rules.

COMPANY ON THE TOUR

Always in order to ensure equality between competitors, it is prohibited for a non-registered person to accompany a runner in part or all of the race. It is only allowed in areas close to the aid stations. This authorizes small family walks at confluence sites, but prohibits “hares”. There will be race marshals at various points along the route and they will be able to impose penalties in real time if the regulations are not respected.
