Organic design is often overlooked due to the difficulty to create and the material waste which comes with it. Expert designers have come up with a minimal waste design. Rethinking what it means for furniture to be sustainable. Essential art has dedicated its efforts realize designs that have minimal waste but all the benefits of forms inspired by nature. Using a modular deign with organic lines which can be reproduced in a batch production. Combining function with form to create evocative friendly designs.

ONE SCREEN = TEN TABLES
Once a screen is purchased and four sheets of the best quality birch ply is sent to the warehouse for cutting with a CNC machine. Organic shapes are cut into the wood, then the design is hand sanded to perfection by skillful local carpenters. These pieces are partially assembled and then sent to you.
Meanwhile, ten unique and handcrafted coffee tables are created using the organic off cut shapes and sold separately to other consumers to reduce waste while still creating beautiful organic designs.
All items are sent in a flat pack to reduce space during the shipping process and reduce waste and environmental impact. The furniture is designed to be conveniently set up and moved around as needed in your own home.

Tokugawa
One of the most influential Japanese artists, Tokugawa, was born in 1539 and lived until 1610. A six panel folding screen, the Pine trees, is a provocative example of how Byōbu can create a meditative atmosphere. He uses the concept of Yohaku which refers to the use of empty space. He used negative space to create an atmosphere of mystery and an opportunity for individuals to wonder. It focus on the potential of white space and a emphasises a curiosity of what is behind.

Kunst By Karimoku
Founded in 1940, KUNST, is a furniture design studio focusing on creating handcrafted high tech furniture made in Japan. Well versed in wood processing and painting techniques they use organic lines to create ergonomic forms which are present for users. The chairs they create have organic varying arm thickness which follow the grain of the wood and showcases a seamless combinations of fabric with wood. Each chair carries a unique form that creates timeless furniture with a touch of luxury.
Architect Inspiration
Antoni Gaudi
Living from 1852 to 1926, Antoni Gaudi, was a Catalan architect who’s work still inspires many today. Gaudi’s work is characterised by elegant curves, freedom of form and organic unity which are all part of the Art Nouveau Modernist movement. Colour, texture and line are also crucial to his works which create decorative and organic patterns and forms that convey rhythm and repetition. Inspired by organic matter the structures he creates appear to be living or remnants of the natural landscape.
