Micro Apartments PHILADELPHIA, USA

SQUARE ONE CAPSTONE - SPRING 2018 PROFESSOR SUSAN SEIP

OBJECTIVE:

To create a home and community for recent graduates or people going through transitional phases in their life. INTENTION:

Located in the city (which can be considered the new “American Dream” for young adults) this complex is inspired by natural transitions and aspects of nature which brings different types of people together in one, beautiful place. menagerie: varied group of people symbiosis: the living together of two dissimilar organisms metamorphosis: profound change in form between stages evolution: any process of formation or growth; development

DESCRIPTION:

Since the beginning of human history, people have lived in small dwellings within a community such as igloos, wigwams, and caves. It is very recently that people have become materialistic and believe “bigger is better”. With over population on the rise, micro apartments targeted towards young adults are a vital solution to help sway the population back to the ideas of living more simply while still being surrounded by community.

Global Warming Museum PHILADELPHIA, USA

HIGH TIDE DESIGN 7 - FALL 2017 PROFESSOR JEFFREY ZARNOCH

OBJECTIVE:

To create an educational museum that can inform the public about the potential dangers of global warming and the various parts of the world that are affected. INTENTION:

Located on a school campus in Germantown Pennsylvania, this building was originally a gymnasium and has been converted into a two-story museum with a focus educating the public about water pollution. The museum contains a cafe, interactive exhibits, and a space to invite guest speakers to talk about activism. DESCRIPTION:

The lobby of this space is very clean, crisp, white, and refreshing to really give the visitor an intital feel that water is beautiful and has not been harmed. Then once the visitor enters the exhibition rooms, they are greeted by spaces that really show the harm that humans have placed on water and how this natural resource is taken advantage of. The main exhibits are water pollution, rising water, coral bleaching, and lack of potable and clean drinking water for 1/7th of the worlds population. This museum is meant to allow people to take a step back and truly realize how water is not a resource that always going to be plentiful.

Fashion Showroom ROME, ITALY

MOSCHINO DESIGN 5 - FALL 2016 PROFESSOR FRANCESCA RICCIARDO

OBJECTIVE:

To create an Italian fashion showroom for a well known Italian fashion house.

SHOWROOM PLAN

SHOWROOM SECTION

INTENTION:

This fashion showroom is located right next to the Spanish Steps and is replacing the Valentino showroom. It is a very old building and much of the architecture could not be changed for the sake of historic preservation. The idea is to make it a high end showroom that really emphasizes the concepts that go into the brand’s fashion designs. DESCRIPTION:

Moschino is completely different than any other fashion designer and is considered very quirky and controversial. When observing his designs in the most recent fashion shows, I noticed a lot of contradiction and juxtaposition went into them so I put that into my design as well. What stood out the most was that his designs turned out to be such unique art pieces that I did not want my design to distract from what he has created, so I went with a very simple black and white scheme with the pops of color being his clothes and accessories. I created a custom shelving unit that acts as if it is framing the product making it stand out as the art piece that it is.

Advertising Agency PHILADELPHIA, USA

SHIFT DESIGN 6 - SPRING 2017 PROFESSOR LISA PHILIPS

OBJECTIVE:

To create a sustainable advertising agency for a specific type of advertsing. This agency specifically, has an all around and generalized focus. INTENTION:

After visiting a few advertising agencies in the city and doing research, I realized that the advertising industry is a fast paced and constantly changing industry. To account for this, I wanted to create a space that can be movable and adaptable based on any projects that the company is currently working on at that point in time. DESCRIPTION:

The main idea for my concept was having movable pieces and rooms. The main focus is in the conference room which is located in the middle of the space and when ultimate privacy is needed or they want to impress clients, a scissor-lift system lifts the entire room onto the roof for privacy and nature views. Other features are LCD panels on the ceiling of the waiting area that can project images of past projects or a client’s logo upon entering to personalize the space for them. There are also brainstorming rooms that move in and out of the building over top of koi ponds where there is a glass floor. “Shift” allows for ultimate personalization for both clients and workers in order to provide amazing advertisements and a great work environment.
