Hello! ¡ Olá! ¡ Hola! Welcome to the 9th edition of ¡VAMOS! Festival, a celebration of Spanish and Portuguese speaking cultures. Spanning two weekends and two weeks we have an amazing line up of high quality acts across all art forms! Flamenco, Samba Dance, Mexican Wrestling plus the launch of our Mardi Gras project working with hundreds of children across the North East, a cutting edge conference with the best exponents of new literature genres in the Hispanic world and we unveil a new ¡VAMOS! pavilion with its fresh designs created exclusively for the festival by artist Flavio Morais.
With live performances, games and special Latino street food look out for the ¡VAMOS! pavillion over the three weekends of the festival!
None of this is possible without the generous support of our funders and partners. We are grateful to Arts Council England, Newcastle University, The Mexican Embassy and Instituto Cervantes for their continued support and faith in the ¡VAMOS! project. We would also like to thank all the artists from the region, national and abroad who inspire us so much and finally and most importantly we want to give our thanks to our diverse and enthusiastic audience! Nikolas Barrera, Patricia Oliart and Sara Lourenco
“¡VAMOS! is a truly universal festival for us and the unique experience it provides our staff, students and the wider public with which we seek to engage, is hugely valuable to Newcastle University.” Professor Ella Ritchie, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Newcastle University
