In March, Canon reached a cumulative total of 110 million EOS Series interchangeable-lens cameras, marking a significant testament to their legacy. The 110 millionth EOS series camera, an EOS R6 Mark II released in December 2022, symbolizes Canon’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of photography and innovation.

Additionally, in May, Canon celebrated the production of 160 million RF/EF series interchangeable lenses, showcasing their unwavering commitment to excellence. The 160 millionth interchangeable lens, an RF 100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM released in July 2021, represents the pinnacle of optical engineering and precision.

Nokia and Red Hat Collaborate to Introduce Cutting-Edge Telecommunications Solutions

Nokia and Red Hat, Inc., the world’s leading provider of open-source solutions, today announced that they have reached an agreement to tightly integrate Nokia’s core network applications with Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift. As customer cloud strategies evolve, Red Hat and Nokia will support a smooth transition path for customers who choose to migrate to Red Hat’s platforms.

As service providers explore the opportunities with 5G, including core network, open RAN, multi-access edge computing (MEC), application modernization and more, they require greater flexibility and options

to deploy applications and services on the infrastructure and location of their choice. This means integration and interoperability amongst the ecosystem is critical. With this move:

 Nokia will adopt Red Hat as its primary

cloud infrastructure platform to develop, test and deliver Nokia’s core network applications;

 Nokia will continue to support its core network applications on the Nokia NCS and CBIS platform offerings;

 Nokia’s core network applications will be tightly integrated with Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift, the leading hybrid cloud application platform powered by Kubernetes;

Samsung’s Foldable Smartphones: Driving Demand and Securing Market Dominance

The smartphone market has been witnessing a flurry of phone launches in recent months. In light of this, we conducted an interview with Rishi Padhi, Research Principal at Gartner, to gain insights into Samsung’s phones and his perspective on the foldables market. Here are his views on these subjects.

What role new smartphones can play in attracting more customers towards Samsung?

Currently the share of foldable devices within smartphones is small but is expected to grow out compared to overall smartphones. In our 5-year forecast, we expect foldables to grow at nearly 49% CAGR which when compared to the rest of smartphones being flat or slightly positive is a definite good sign for Samsung in terms of demand to come. The most popular category within foldable smartphones is the flip design and with lowered cost of production, the flip design being priced close to normal flagships is an added benefit that puts Flip devices as an attractive proposition for consumers.

How will the foldable smartphone market will play out in the future, and will Samsung’s dominance be challenged anytime soon?

The competition for Samsung is mostly from vendors which have limited global penetration and Samsung benefits in terms of having a strong market presence as well as being the only foldable option in some markets helping them maintain their lead over others. However, the market for foldable smartphones is still very small compared to overall smartphones and hence, vendors are mainly looking to create their own userbase rather than competing for share.
