Perfomances

SUPERBLOCK

The main objective of this project is to revive the district of St. George and connect it with the city centre. It is proposed to create a superblock with an internal pedestrian friendly network. More specifically, the woonerf system will be applied in the area, the continuous curb will be eliminated and traffic calming solutions will be implemented. This method views the street as a social space and strengthens the identity of the neighbourhood. The open spaces of the superblock will be transformed into themed pocket parks that will function as new public spaces. A new urban furniture will be placed in the pockets parks that will allow the users to explore it. The railway tracks that surround the district isolated it by the rest of the city. New train crossings will be created that will connect the districts. Across the railway tracks, an outdoors gallery and a vertical garden will be placed that will function as a landmark of the superblock.

• The main objective is to create a new public space for the residents of the village

• The open space in front of the church is preserved for activities

• A new monument installation is placed

• New urban equipment (pergola, benches, lighting fixtures)

• Sustainable materials create a contrast between the new and the old
