9-90’s REPORT March Run John Winchester took care of us on this day. We met at the Rolleston Community Centre where we were given clear instructions, and a rally direction’s sheet, (where to go and where to turn). 50 cars participated and up until the first destination everything went as planned. We stopped at the South Rakaia Huts Settlement, a place a lot of people, including me, didn’t know existed. If you haven’t been there go and have a look round. You’ll be impressed. I believe about 4 or 5 cars got stuck in the shingle but with a bit of manpower they managed to get going again. Then 50 cars carried on to the next stop and, believe it or not, 14 of us, including yours truly, got lost. I wish that I hadn’t got lost as I believe that it was a vegetable packing house at Lovett’s Family Farm which would have been interesting to see. But thanks to John’s experience and wisdom he had told us where the 3rd and final end point of the rally was at Trott’s Garden in Ashburton. (another place well

worth a visit) and there we had our lunch in lovely surroundings. The weather was kind to us, we had a great raffle, good banter and a lot of new faces. A good day was had by all and we got home in time to watch the America’s Cup racing. Thanks, John, for a great day from us all. 7 April Arthur Bodger is the organiser.
