Secretary’s Report
SECRETARY and DELEGATE’S REPORT
I, along with Banks Peninsula Branch Delegate, South Island Club Captain and some members of the National committee attended the Executive meeting at National Office on 12th March held by zoom around the country. There were a number of branches unable to log in which was disappointing. It was an interesting exercise and extremely well run by our President Diane Quarrie. Personally I am not in favour of the zoom style of meeting with this number of attendees as I feel it lacks the personal interaction and discussion between the members during breaks, although in these times of covid probably the best option. Logo Voting. The President called all branches individually to state their branch’s preference and the result was quite strongly against the change. As a result of Canterbury’s in house vote, Canterbury voted against. Remit: On Branches being able to change their name to reflect the range of vehicles. (Remit withdrawn) Branches can already use a marketing name subject to the Club’s approval but must not include this in the wording of the Name of the Club which must remain as is.

This will affect our branch to some degree so will be discussed at our next Branch committee meeting. In a Nut Shell it follows these lines. People will still be able to join though the Branch Secretary, but for the younger jet set they will be able to join instantly on line and
become a prospective member by paying to National office the required amount. Single $100 Joint plus $20 Junior $50 GST inc. The Branch will then be notified automatically with all the details. The Branch will then arrange the Proposer and Seconder and approve the application though the committee. Following this it will go back to National office who will process it and send out the Welcome letter and membership card. Our Levy will then be sent to us as usual once a month. There cannot be a joining fee involved with this process though National Office and each Branch will need to decide if they wish to continue with this, which would require us to advise and invoice the new member on top of what he has believed to be the cost of joining. National Day: The $300 Subsidy to branches is available again this year.
