Veteran Report

Hi to you all Tony and Ngaire Becker organised this trip for us. The day was perfect, we had a nice route and here is the report Tony sent me of his outing:

“ With responsibility for March 9-90s event, the challenge of fuel economy became a consideration. Ngaire and I decided to investigate close at hand venues while enjoying morning coffee at one of our favourite country spots, Templeton's Gatehouse Cafe, when inspiration hit - why not here? And so it was! From Cutler Park, around 40 vehicles short-toured local roads via Sherlin Alpacas to "Innovation Park" near Templeton Village, the 100 hectare former Templeton Hospital complex, now Mauger's Agricultural Business Park, its agricultural aspirations are still evolving. The vision of one of our late VCC very early members, Warner Mauger. His dream is already well established in these lovely grounds. When manager, Roger Westerink dropped a hint that Warner's "toys" were hidden there the venue suddenly became a must-do! From the immaculate black 1914 Cadillac Roadster to a couple of sporty home-built Austin 7's, a freshly rebuilt Oldsmobile Oleo chassis on wheels, other motors and a gorgeous little race car made for a great visit. Highlight though, was the original Stanton Special "Crop Duster" stacked with its famous Tiger Moth aircraft engine. Warner's dedicated restoration of the huge hall also impressed. Though still evolving, Maugers have widened and re-laid roading retaining much original infrastructure. Convenor, John Kuipers ran his usual raffle with typical "ribbing banter" and friendly picnic chat on the sunny day.” Thank you Tony and Ngaire for an interesting and enjoyable outing. When Annette and I sell the raffle tickets I am always

Meet at the Peg Carpark, Belfast Hotel at 9.55am NB This trip is on 4th May, one week earlier than normal. June 8th Geoff Townshend Meet at the Peg Carpark, Belfast Hotel at 9.55am again. Geoff was the lucky one to get first prize in the raffle. The committee and I needed a volunteer for the June run so we decided to combine running the June outing with the first raffle draw. Geoff gracefully accepted his prize. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon. JK and the team PS I am partially deaf so if I ignore you I haven't heard you. Don't be too shy to tap me on my shoulder. Regards, John

Letter of Thanks

To the 9-90s group. On behalf of the members of the Wolseley Car Club, I'd like to thank the 9-90s group for their very kind donation from the proceeds of their raffle when visiting our Idlewood facility on 9th February. We have put this money towards installing an artificial grassed area outside of our clubrooms, this work having now been completed. It was a pleasure to have the 9-90s group visit - whilst nowhere the magnitude of Cutler Park, our club facilities are something we're very proud of and enjoy continually improving and sharing with like-minded enthusiasts. Best regards Colin Hey, Chairman Wolseley Car Club Christchurch Branch.
