Veteran Report
Another quiet month for veterans, given the time of year, so not a lot to report.

The Veteran Car Club held their AGM on Saturday 24th July – a good turnout considering some of us were at Cutler Park to attend the memorial service for Evan Perrin. It was nice to see a number of Ford T’s present there, (including his ‘as found’ 1918 and recently completed 1920 Tourers).
As mentioned last month, the Annual Veteran Rally date has been locked in as Sunday 26th September on the branch calendar, and planning is well in hand. The finish destination is the Racecourse Hill homestead. The run will start in Darfield, and maybe stop at another place of interest on the way. There is going to be an open day at the Homestead and our cars will be parked nearby as an added attraction, so with that and some fun field tests, it will be an interesting day. Entry forms are in this Hub (see Page 38) and of course on-line, so fill it in now while you remember. Other club eligible vehicles are welcome too, but won’t be able to take part in the field tests or be eligible for any of the awards.
Other events to consider include the Daffodil Rally on Sunday 22nd August (see page 31) if we get reasonable weather, and the VCC display at the Hororata Highland Games on Saturday 6th November which Malcolm McGibbon is busy organising.
For those of us who also belong to the Veteran Car Club (and for Veteran owners who don’t) – there is a garage visit/noggin at our place (34 Rossington Drive, West Melton) from 7.00pm on Tuesday 10th August. Please bring your own preferred beverage unless you prefer OJ or soft drinks. Supper provided. In the meantime, enjoy your time tinkering in the shed.
Regards Colin Hey (Veteran Convenor)
