Acting Chairman’s Report

Many of you will know that I have been co opted by the Branch Committee as Caretaker/Acting Chairman for the immediate future, following Ross standing down due to his ill health. In accordance with the Branch Constitution a Special General Meeting has been called (see elsewhere) to elect a Branch Chairman until the next Annual General Meeting when nominations for all Branch Committee members will be called for. (Please note –that “the position of Chairman shall be open to any member of the Committee and any person who has served one full term on the Branch Committee.”) We are indebted to Ross for his many years of holding office in the Branch. He has been Secretary, Delegate and Chairman (serving these terms at several different times) and we thank him for this. Our thoughts and warm wishes are sent to him. At the last Branch Committee meeting (the first following our AGM) we welcomed Robyn Cox as our treasurer. The Branch Committee has co opted Graham Evans as Vintage Convenor. (Our thanks are given to Mike Milne for his time on the committee.) Graham is well used to committee work and will be an asset to us. Mark Drury has volunteered to be responsible for the Annual Vintage Rally this year and will liaise through Graham to the committee. Katryna Shaw has been elected as Club Captain after serving as a general member on the committee. The Motorcycle Section has appointed Paul Ainsworth as their representative on the Branch Committee. Welcome Robyn, Graham and Paul, we appreciate that you have made yourself available for these important tasks. The sub committee organising the Club’s Executive/AGM on behalf of the branch, has been beavering away to ensure its success. They invited me to their recent meeting and I was very pleased with what is planned. I am looking forward to seeing a good turnout from our members at the AGM on Saturday 14th August at the Rydges Hotel. It doesn’t cost anything to attend the meeting, but numbers are required (should you wish to partake) for the complimentary morning tea. (See last month’s Hub and Beaded Wheels for further information.) Members may also attend the Executive Meeting, but may not “speak” to the meeting. Please see Rod Thrower (our delegate) should you wish for an item to be brought up for discussion. Leigh
