VETERAN REPORT This last month has gone very quickly, and I missed a couple of events due to the heavy rain events on the West Coast, which meant I had to work two of the weekends. I did however manage to have a weekend away with some good mates in Invercargill to attend the Mobil 1 Classic SpeedFest at Teratonga Park – a very good event. No visit to Invercargill is complete though without a visit to E Hayes and Sons, Transport World and Motorcycle Mecca, which soaked up an entire day. It’s been many years since I’d been in Transport World, and I was thoroughly impressed by the changes there. Great to see the full complement of the veteran ‘Letter’ cars all lined up in a row in order of date, plus numerous other veteran trucks spread throughout the collection. So good to be able to see them all in one place and have plenty of time to look at them closely. The same applies to Motorcycle Mecca – a large number of veteran machines and then everything later from all corners of the world, all immaculately presented in such a great venue. By the time you read this the Annual Rally will have happened – not a great turnout of veterans entered I’m sad to report, but as I write this it’s all go and I’m sure we’ll have a good run on Saturday and then the chance to enjoy some social time on Sunday.
