A LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER Welcome to Mi Mundo. So, let me introduce our magazine to you. Mi Mundo Magazine San Diego (MMMSD) was created a few months ago; however, we have another 2 sister magazines. Our first issue was based in Las Vegas; it was only in Spanish for the first two years, which limited our readership and our potential. I decided to make Mi Mundo Magazine (MMM) bilingual last year so we can include our English readers and welcome them to Mi Mundo (My World).

Since then, things have progressed and our readership and has grown, but our target is still the same. That is how MMMSD was born because we understood that we needed to be in San Diego where we share a border with my beautiful country of Mexico. We are a Hispanic publication that promotes substantive content. Our publication is a free, monthly bilingual magazine. Our magazine is about culture, entrepreneurship, lifestyle, tourism, technology, and so much more, but never gossip. I’m very proud of what we have accomplished so far and how we have been able to surprise those who dare to open a bilingual magazine for the first time. We make an emphasis on tourism because we want our Spanish speakers from around the globe to know where to go and why San Diego is a must-visit city when coming to the United States. We highlight entrepreneurship because that is something I strongly believe in. MMMSD includes a directory from Silicon Valley and Las Vegas, where we publish other editions of the magazine. Coming in November our Mexico edition! My priority is to change the misconception of my community and my people and to show the world how rich we are in culture and how much we have to offer. Maybe in the process we will encourage other people to read and educate themselves with anything they find in the magazine. Reading is such a powerful tool and can open your horizons. As a serial entrepreneur, this is my favorite venture of all. I love creating this magazine and walking you through different topics and encouraging you to go out there and break a leg while doing something you love. In this issue, Ciara Brown graces the cover. Ciara is a very young entrepreneur and founder of The Diamond Hanger. She won the EBAY’S Young Entrepreneur of the year! My type of girl! I love promoting and reading stories like hers that prove that we can accomplish anything we want at any stage of our lives. I’m a firm believer that we are the architects of our destiny, no one else. If we work on a solid foundation, we will create an empire. We just need to understand that failure is part of the process and embrace it because that will help us to become stronger. When you understand that, nothing will stop you. I hope you enjoy her story as much as I did. And don’t forget that Rome wasn’t built on one day! Our team couldn’t be more multicultural. The people behind this magazine speak over 10 languages. And I love to see how it grows every month. The time is getting shorter, life is faster and attention is scarce. The cellphones, the television and videogames threat one of the most important and enriching exercises of human beings, the habit of reading. A hectic life has typecast us in a form of virtual communication and messages like ads. The expression is limited to pictures. Detailed words and conscience – those words with diligence of other times – are disappearing. In some form this means to go back to the last period before writing, the era of hieroglyphics. These days the attention to written language is centered in the news of the press, short mails, or emoticons of WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook or email. Each time there are less cards written with dedication and less books read, with the exception of some imposed by the academy or by the job. The new generations are being digitalized between articles of technology, with sublanguages each time more coded and short. The classic child tales are in way of extinction, as are master pieces of literature in ink and paper. We’re not only losing the written memory of humanity but also one of the fundamental activities of mental development. Reading is understanding and understanding implies to predict, infer, categorize, analyze, synthetize and imagine. The text allows to experiment all the senses with the direct exposure of stimuli. It opens the

Los celulares, la televisión y los videojuegos atentan contra uno de los ejercicios más importantes y enriquecedores para el ser humano, el hábito de la lectura. La vida agitada nos ha ido encasillando en una forma de comunicación virtual y de mensajes tipo anuncios publicitarios. La expresión se limita a imágenes. Ya las palabras detalladas y a conciencia -aquellas cartas con diligencias de otros tiempos- van desapareciendo. En cierta forma esto significa devolverse al periodo anterior a la escritura, a la era de los jeroglíficos. Hoy en día la atención al lenguaje escrito está centrada en noticias de prensa, correos cortos o emoticones de WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook o email. Cada vez hay menos cartas escritas con dedicación y menos libros leídos, salvo por algunos impuestos por la academia o por el trabajo. Las nuevas generaciones se están digitalizando entre artilugios de la tecnología, con sublenguajes cada vez más codificados y escuetos. Los cuentos infantiles clásicos están en vía de extinción, así como las obras maestras de la literatura en tinta y papel. No solo estamos perdiendo la memoria escrita de la humanidad sino también una de las actividades fundamentales para el desarrollo mental.

possibility to have a vision of the world. Reading is flying between strokes of knowledge and dreaming awake. Is living a story or topic with the possibility of fulfilling with our own imaginary space. The tales, novels, poetry, essays, and magazine articles constitute the human interpretation of the universe are windows to knowledge, fantasy and pleasure. Reading is one of those activities that differentiate us from other alive beings. It’s the way through man begin receiving formal knowledge, nothing less than the process we call education. I don’t propose to stop or critic technology. It goes without saying all the virtues that virtual communication bring us. I just pretend to recover the interest of written word with time and conscience, both for good mental development as for pleasure. It’s the duty of parents and teachers to encourage reading in kids. Further from school obligations, is about teaching them to enjoy, so that they don’t relate reading with work or something boring. It’s necessary to motivate them with ludic and fun topics, arouse their curiosity and the interest for letters. Tales are, for example, the ideal way to introduce the young public to the world of books; they can be classics or modern ones, the subject of preference according to the individual, about the movies of the moment, of cartoons, of superheroes or a thousand topics with which they can identify and empathize. Maybe later they’ll be interested by novels, historical books and scientific essays. The children that read will understand the world better, the reality, its time and space. They will be better human beings. They will learn to differ between god and evil. They will reach a logical thinking. It will be easier for them to access scientific topics and appreciate literature. They will understand a little more about life, death and love; the forces that move the existence. The reading children will have imagination, creativity, memory, analysis capacity, adaptation to the environment, and likewise, will be a little happier. They will be men with reflective capabilities, and reflective men will form better societies.

Leer es comprender y comprender implica predecir, inferir, categorizar, analizar, sintetizar e imaginar. El texto permite experimentar todos los sentidos sin la exposición directa a los estímulos. Nos abre la posibilidad de tener una visión del mundo. Leer es volar entre los trazos del conocimiento y soñar despierto. Es vivir una historia o un tema con la posibilidad de completarlo con nuestro propio espacio imaginario. Los cuentos, las novelas, la poesía, los ensayos y los artículos de revistas constituyen la interpretación humana del universo. Son ventanas al conocimiento, a la fantasía y al placer. Leer es una de aquellas actividades que nos diferencian de otros seres vivos. Es la manera mediante la cual el hombre comienza a recibir el conocimiento formal, nada menos que el proceso que llamamos educación. No propongo frenar ni hacer critica de la tecnología. Sobra decir todas las bondades que nos trae la facilidad de la comunicación virtual. Solo pretendo que recuperemos el interés por la palabra escrita con tiempo y a conciencia, tanto por el buen desarrollo mental como por el placer. Es un deber de padres y maestros volver a incentivar la lectura en los niños. Mas allá de la obligación escolar, se trata de enseñarles a disfrutar, para que no asocien la lectura con trabajo o con algo aburrido. Es necesario motivarlos con temas lúdicos y divertidos, despertarles la curiosidad y el interés por las letras. Los cuentos, por ejemplo, son una manera idónea para introducir al público infantil al mundo de los libros; pueden ser clásicos o modernos, de los temas de preferencia según el individuo, sobre las películas del momento, de los dibujos animados, de superhéroes o mil temas con los cuales ellos logren identificarse y empatizar. Más adelante quizá se interesen por novelas, libros históricos y ensayos científicos. Los niños que lean entenderán mejor el mundo, la realidad, su tiempo y espacio. Serán mejores seres humanos. Aprenderán a discernir entre el bien y el mal. Alcanzaran un pensamiento lógico. Se les facilitará acceder a los temas científicos y apreciaran la literatura. Comprenderán un poco más sobre la vida, la muerte y el amor; las fuerzas que mueven la existencia. Los niños lectores tendrán imaginación, creatividad, memoria, capacidad de análisis, adaptación al entorno, y así mismo, serán un poco más felices. Serán hombres con capacidad de reflexión, y hombres reflexivos conformarán mejores sociedades.

WHY ESTABLISH YOUR PRIORITIES AND SHIFT THEM WHEN NECESSARY

Porque establecer tus prioridades y saber cambiarlas cuando sea necesario By~Por: Ana E. Gaeta

There are times that, no matter how much we want something, it is hard to reach. There are times that regardless of how hard we work, we cannot do what is necessary to achieve what we want because maybe at this precise moment, we simply cannot give it our all. There are things that have to be postponed but not forgotten. The key is to always remember our priorities, no matter how much we struggle. I recently heard about the death of a famous violinist. She loved her hands as these were the most important parts of her talent as a violinist and she took very special care of them. She even had her hands insured for a large amount of money. One day she stumbled near a stair case and fell down the stairs. The first thing she thought of was protecting her hands so she didn´t react like a normal person would by putting out her hands and stopping the fall. Instead, she tried to cushion the fall with her head and back, but this killed her. As I remembered this the other day, I realized the importance of establishing the right priority in different situations. There are times when we have to sacrifice what we most want for what we need now. That may mean taking care of things that need immediate attention and postponing our long-term plans. Maybe it means attending something that is almost life or death instead of clinging to something we really want to do but that is less of a priority. For example, I find it hard to accept that I have to sleep instead of working so much, but when I get sick I realize that the body is charging me a high price for not meeting my basic needs. Sometimes, we have to do just enough to survive so that later on we can have the opportunity to truly reach bigger goals and meet our long term plans. You may want to start a project now, you may have goals and dreams that you are anxious to achieve, but if the circumstances at this time do not allow it, don´t obsess about what you can´t have, instead focus on what you can work on now. It does not mean that you must forget what you want, only that you must focus on the moment and what your priorities should be at this stage of your life. Your priorities can change, and

Hay veces que por más que deseamos algo, no lo logramos. Hay veces que por más que quisiéramos obtener lo que queremos, no podemos hacer lo necesario para obtenerlo porque en este preciso momento simplemente no se puede. Claro, sabemos que cuando queremos algo luchamos por obtenerlo. Sin embargo, también es necesario comprender que hay cosas que se tienen que posponer pero no olvidar. Lo más importante es recordar siempre lo que es prioridad y entender que las prioridades pueden cambiar en base a eventos en la vida. Hace poco escuche sobre la muerte de una violinista famosa. Amaba sus manos, ya que estas eran la parte más importantes para su vida como violinista y las cuidaba muchísimo. Hasta había asegurado sus manos por mucho dinero. Un día se tropezó y cayó por las escaleras y por no lastimarse las manos no las uso para detenerse, en ves quiso amortiguar la caída con la cabeza y la espalda, pero esto la mato. Al pensar en esta historia, me di cuenta de la importancia de saber cambiar de prioridad en el instante correcto. Hay veces que tenemos que sacrificar lo que más queremos por lo que necesitamos en este momento. Eso tal vez signifique ocuparte de cosas que necesitan inmediata intención y posponer nuestros planes de largo plazo. Tal vez signifique atender a algo que es casi de vida o muerte en vez de aferrarnos a algo que realmente queremos pero que es de menos prioridad. Por ejemplo, a mí me cuesta mucho aceptar que tengo que dormir en vez de trabajar tanto pero cuando me enfermo me doy cuenta que el cuerpo me lo está cobrando caro el no atender a las necesidades básicas por darle prioridad a otros aspectos, que aunque son importantes no son esenciales para sobrevivir. Puede que tú estés queriendo emprender un proyecto, tengas metas y sueños que quieres lograr pero si las circunstancias en este momento no te lo permiten, no te agobies. No significa que debes olvidar lo que quieres, solo que debes enfocarte en el ahora y que es lo que es realmente tu prioridad en esta etapa de tu vida. Tus prioridades pueden cambiar, y normalmente lo hacen

Think about everything you want and what you really HAVE to do and pick 5 things that are really your priority, and write why. Then put them in order from the most important to the least important on your list of priorities and keep them in mind every time you have to make a tough choice. Maybe your number one priority is your family or your health, or maybe your number one is your job. No matter what, don´t let others define your priorities, those are yours and only yours to establish. If your greatest priority is your job or your career and after reevaluating all your priorities you realize that truly is what you want as your top priority, then great, don´t feel ashamed. However, it is important to understand that when something is your top priority this means that you are willing to sacrifice other things in order to maintain that as your top priority. This doesn´t mean you can´t change your priorities but you have to set them straight to have some guideline as to what you want to do with your life.

Piensa en todo lo que quieres y en lo que tienes que hacer. Escoge 5 cosas que son realmente tu prioridad y escribe porque. Después ponlos en orden de lo más importante a lo menos importante en tu lista de prioridades y mantenlas en tu mente cada vez que tengas que tomar una decisión difícil. Tal vez tu prioridad número uno es tu familia o tu salud, tal vez tu número uno sea tu trabajo. Tus prioridades nadie más las debe de definir, son personales. Si después de valorar tus prioridades decides que la más grande es tu trabajo, está bien, pero debes entender que cuando algo es prioridad se sacrifica todo lo demás para seguir dándole el lugar a esta. Esto no significa que nunca puedes cambiar de prioridades pero sí que necesitas claramente establecerlas para lograr enfocar tus tareas y esfuerzos correctamente. Si después te das cuenta que tu prioridad es tu salud o tu familia tal vez sea tiempo de reorganizar tu agenda y comenzar a decir ¨no¨ a cosas que quieres pero que por el momento no son tan importantes como estas.

If you realize your true priority is your health or your family, but all this time you have been acting as if your career is your top priority, it may be time to reorganize your agenda and start saying “no” to things you want but that are not allowing you to make your health or family the number one priority. Consider and analyze what your current priorities are and what you want them to be, then adjust your lifestyle and choices to make them congruent. Be honest with yourself because at the end of the day you will have to live with your decisions and face the consequences of the actions you take. Do not bury your goals and dreams but work with what you can right now without losing sight of what you want in the long run, even if it takes a while to get there.

Considera y analiza cuáles son tus prioridades actuales y cuáles quieres que sean, después ajústalas y apégate a ellas. Asegúrate de ser honesto contigo mismo, porque al final de cuentas tú tendrás que vivir con tus decisiones y con consecuencias de las acciones que tomes. No olvides tus metas ni sueños pero trabaja con lo que puedes en este momento sin perder de vista lo que quieres lograr aunque tardes en llegar.

His works ‘Los heraldos negros’ (1918) and ‘Trilce’ (1922) published in Lima were avant-garde of his time and deep in a personal sense.

In 1923 published ‘Escalas’ his narrative work and during that year he left to Europe to never return to his homeland.

En 1923 publicó ‘Escalas’ su obra narrativa y durante ese año partió a Europa para no retornar a su patria. En el viejo continente vivió en París; aunque estuvo en Madrid y otras ciudades, trabajo como periodista y docente.

In the old continent he lived in Paris; although he was in Madrid and other cities, he worked as a journalist and teacher. During the last stage of his life he didn’t publish poetry; but poems of him are known that came out after his death. He published works in prose, books like ‘El tungsteno’, ‘Crónicas en Rusia’ (both in 1931) and his, very famous tale ‘Paco Yunque’ that would come to light posthumously. His poetic works were titled ‘Poemas humanos’ and ‘España, aparta de mí este cáliz’, of a social cut and published after his death for his loved wife Georgette Vallejo. For many in the world, said poems lead to obtain the qualifier of “Universal Poet” As in which he is usually known over there. The Peruvian poet also wrote essays and theater, he wrote translations and more. He died in Paris as he wrote, on April 15th, 125 years ago. Inspirational for modern poets, it transcended with his notable works and is considered the best and most influential poet of Peru.

The existence of so many make-up products: moisturizers, primer, tonics, bases, correctors, etc. It gives us some confusion when it comes to knowing what order to apply them. That is why, today, I am going to explain the ideal order in which you should use your facial products.

1. First, you should apply a facial cleanser to remove all impurities from the face. There are facial cleansers in cream, gel, biphasic, etc. Look for the ideal one for your skin type and as a daily ritual always do it before bed. Never sleep with makeup on. This step is not necessarily only at night, but also in the day. Then wash your face.

2. Second, apply a tonic, micellar, or thermal water. Many do not know what facial tonic is needed for and obviate this very important step. The facial tonic and the micellar water help to balance the face skin PH. We may have very dry skin that can result in premature wrinkles or super-oily skin that leads to granites. Preferably, use those that do not contain alcohol. 3. Third, apply a moisturizing facial cream. This will help keep your skin healthy. 4. Fourth, use the Primer or Prebase. This helps the base you wear and all the makeup, in general, will last longer. I recommend applying Primer only when you have a social meeting, which merits being with the makeup intact for hours.

5. Fifth, makeup base. This product is found in a variety of presentations. Choose the one that suits your skin type (dry, mixed or greasy) and your tone.

6. Sixth, concealer. Also, like the base, there are different presentations. Please note the following: - Green concealer: to neutralize the redness. It is ideal for rosaceous skin. - Purple concealer: to neutralize yellow spots on the skin. - Orange concealer: for dark circles with blue coloration. - Yellow concealer: to neutralize the areas with purple o violet coloration. - Salmon concealer: corrects any minor discoloration. - Coffee concealer: used for contouring. - White concealer: used to give light and add volume.

La existencia de tantos productos de maquillaje; cremas hidratantes, primer, tónicos, bases, correctores, etc.; nos produce cierta confusión a la hora de saber en qué orden se deben aplicar. Es por ello, que hoy te voy a explicar el orden idóneo en el cual debes usar tus productos faciales.

1. En primer lugar, debes aplicar un limpiador facial, para sacar todas las impurezas del rostro. Existen limpiadores faciales en crema, en gel, bifásicos, etc. Busca el ideal para tu tipo de piel y, como un ritual diario, hazlo siempre antes de acostarte. Jamás duermas con el maquillaje puesto. Este paso no necesariamente es solo en la noche, sino también en el día. Luego lava tu rostro. 2. En segundo lugar, aplícate un tónico, agua micelar o termal. Muchas no saben para qué es necesario el tónico facial, y obvian este paso muy importante. El tónico facial y el agua micelar, ayudan a balancear el PH de la piel del rostro. Podemos tener una piel muy reseca que puede resultar en arrugas prematuras o una piel súper grasosa que nos lleva a tener granitos. De preferencia usa los que no contengan alcohol. 3. El tercer paso es aplicar una crema facial hidratante. Esto ayudará a mantener tu piel lozana. 4. En cuarto lugar está el uso del Primer o Prebase. Esto ayuda a que la base que vayas a usar y todo el maquillaje, en general, te duren más tiempo. Yo recomiendo aplicar Primer solo cuando tengas una reunión social, que amerite el estar con el maquillaje intacto por horas de horas. 5. El quinto puesto es para la Base de Maquillaje. Este producto lo encuentras en diversidad de presentaciones. Elige la que se adecue a tu tipo de piel (seca, mixta o grasa) y a tu tonalidad.

As a research institution, USC has scientists from across disciplines working to find a cure for cancer and better ways for people to manage the disease. The Keck School of Medicine and USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center manage a state-mandated database called the Los Angeles Cancer Surveillance Program, which provides scientists with essential statistics on cancer for a diverse population. Researchers from the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center have found that drinking coffee lowers the risk of colorectal cancer. But drinking piping hot coffee or beverages probably causes cancer in the esophagus, according to a World Health Organization panel of scientists that included Mariana Stern from the Keck School of Medicine.

After 25 years of labeling coffee a carcinogen linked to bladder cancer, the World Health Organization last year announced that drinking coffee reduces the risk for liver and uterine cancer. “Some people worry drinking coffee can be bad for you because it might increase the risk of heart disease, stunt growth or lead to stomach ulcers and heartburn,” Setiawan said. “But research on coffee have mostly shown no harm to people’s health.” COFFEE BY THE NUMBERS Setiawan and her colleagues examined the data of 185,855 African-Americans (17 percent), Native Hawaiians (7 percent), Japanese-Americans (29 percent), Latinos (22 percent) and whites (25 percent) ages 45 to 75 at recruitment. Participants answered questionnaires about diet, lifestyle, and family and personal medical history. They reported their coffee drinking habits when they entered the study and updated them about every five years, checking one of nine boxes that ranged from “never or hardly ever” to “4 or more cups daily.” They also reported whether they drank caffeinated or decaffeinated coffee. The average follow-up period was 16 years. Sixteen percent of participants reported that they did not drink coffee, 31 percent drank one cup per day, 25 percent drank two to three cups per day and 7 percent drank four or more cups per day. The remaining 21 percent had irregular coffee consumption habits. Over the course of the study, 58,397 participants — about 31 percent — died. Cardiovascular disease (36 percent) and cancer (31 percent) were the leading killers.

For the second part of our article about Millennials, we had the pleasure to interview a nominee for the Ebay Shine Awards, Ciara Brown. Native of North California, raised in Colorado, and now living in San Diego, Ciara went from selling Dollar store erasers and Slinkys to her neighborhood friends creating her own business to supplement her volleyball scholarship while in college, becoming an entrepreneur at 22 years old! She started her clothing business almost by accident when she was 20 years old. She went home one summer and her mother told her she needed to clear out some of her clothes so she thought of Ebay. She didn’t really know much about it, but once she learned to sell, “I was addicted,” she told us. What she knew then as much as she knows now is her passion for fashion. Raised by a single mother she grew up on a tight budget. “My mom really loves clothes. When we were younger she would take us to the mall and teach us how to read properly the sale signs and coupons. We never bought anything full-price.” she said. At the beginning, she was selling her own stuff, she sold a pair of pre-owned designer jeans for more than what she bought them for, then other things she owned and so on. She started learning more, so she began purchasing other people’s clothes. Her first listing sold in one day, so she listed 40 items the next day, and the rest is history, what started as a hobby in her college bedroom soon enough became a full time job. First, she moved her inventory to her mother’s extra bedroom, then to her garage parking spot, then to two 300 sq. ft. storage units and now she has a 1,000 square foot warehouse. “Focus on your goals because dreams do come true! I truly believe that with passion, hard work, discipline, and dedication you can do anything… never give up” Self-taught, she told us she gained knowledge by going to seminars and watching every episode of Shark Tank, as well as reading motivational books. One of her favorite books is “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.” Google has also taught her things, from learning how to take measurements to writing a business plan. Ciara has fully funded her business on her own. She built the business from scratch, first working by herself, then hiring a first employee, and eventually a bookkeeper and CPA. At the beginning, she was just looking for extra income to supplement her volleyball scholarship. She was very disciplined with her scholarship money and re-invested what she had left over to purchase inventory and before she knew it she was an entrepreneur. CLAUDIA NORIEGA-BERNSTEIN: What was the first “diamond” (valuable item) you found, where did you find it, and how did you know it was a great find? CIARA BROWN: My favorite diamond would be a Mandalay dress that I purchased in Los Angeles. It was a gorgeous satin dress that laced up on both sides. I knew it was worth

Comenzó este negocio en el dormitorio de su colegio, luego trasladó su inventario al dormitorio extra de la casa su madre, luego al garaje, luego a dos unidades de almacenamiento de 300 pies cuadrados que fue su primer almacén y de ahi a los 1.000 pies cuadrados que tiene ahora. “Enfócate en tus metas porque los sueños se hacen realidad! Realmente creo que con pasión, trabajo, disciplina y dedicación puedes lograr cualquier cosa… nunca te des por vencido”. Ciara es autodidacta, nos dijo que ha aprendido mucho yendo a seminarios y viendo cada episodio de Shark Tank, así como al leer libros de motivación. something, but it did not have a tag on the back of the neck, so I almost passed up on it. I kept looking at the detail and decided to turn the dress inside out and found the brand near the fabric tag. I bought it for $10 and sold it for just under $400. CNB: You were very young when you started, was it difficult to get the department stores and other businesses to take you seriously? CB: Working with a lot of large businesses like department stores is difficult, especially when you have to meet in person. Being a young entrepreneur always raises a flag to others, but it’s also exciting at the same time because people really enjoy hearing my story and offer advice. “I realized this was my career when I sold my first 100 dresses in a month and was in desperate need of hiring my first employee.” CNB: How do you determine the real value of an item? CB: We typically price items 60-90% off of retail price. When pricing we also consider things like material content, style, and size. When I find a unique piece, I do a lot of research online to try and get the most accurate price point. CNB: Have you had anyone reaching out to find a specific item? How were you able to help them? CB: We don’t go out and look for a specific item but our clients find unique items on our website and sometimes

they are items they were looking for a long time, we carry a lot of items that customers weren’t able to get their hands on. I have had customers find and purchase items that they have searched years for. Most of our customers come to us because they are looking for unique pieces to wear for special occasions. CNB: Do you have a mentor? Who inspires you? CB: I currently do not have a mentor. I am pretty much selftaught when it comes to my business. If I could choose any mentor, it would be Sophia Amoruso the owner of Nasty Gal. I learned about her from a friend when I was a year into my business. When I read her book, I couldn’t believe how identical her story was to mine. CNB: What would be your advice to young people with dreams and no resources? CB: I have had to work for everything I have. As a young girl, my goal was to play Division 1 volleyball. I knew my family did not have the money to pay for my college so I focused solely on getting better at my sport. I would sell my clothes at garage sales and knock door to door for fundraising to play club volleyball. I want every child to know that as long as you are passionate about pursuing a dream you can do it. As long as you stay focused and disciplined, you can accomplish anything you put your mind to! There are creative ways around everything! CNB: If you could go back in time, what would you do differently? CB: If I could go back in time, I wouldn’t change a thing. I believe that there are a lot of things I could have done differently, however, every mistake has come with a valuable lesson. My mistakes have molded me into a well-rounded young entrepreneur. I have learned so much from my mistakes that I wouldn’t go back and change anything. CNB: Where do you see yourself in 5 years? CB: My goal in the next 5 years is to be on Forbes 30 under 30. I hope to open a warehouse in every major city. I am excited about exploring new categories and adding more to the vintage collection. I have so many cool ideas, the next 5 years are going to be some of most memorable! After all her hard work, Ciara is proud of her achievement and she can finally tell other people she had a legitimate business and prove to her family that owning her own store is actually a real job and that dreams do come true. Every time I step out into the busy streets of Los Angeles, I see people in frayed bottom jeans or bare butt jeans and I am tempted to stop and ask them, “Where did you get your jeans?” I can never find ripped jeans that fit just right. After contemplating whether I should muster up the courage to walk up to one these people and as... I asked! and guess what? ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!

Cada vez que salgo a las calles de Los Ángeles veo a la gente con pantalones vaqueros deshilachados o rotos y me siento tentada a detenerme y preguntarles: “¿De dónde sacaste tus vaqueros?” Nunca puedo encontrar jeans rasgados que me queden bien y si me quedan bien no tiene hoyos. Después de contemplar si debería tener el coraje para caminar hasta una de estas personas y preguntarles... ¡me pregunté! ¿y adivina qué? “¡PEDI Y SE TE DARÁ!”

The reason I haven’t found them yet is because they didn’t buy them like that. They were “homemade,” which honestly took me by surprise. I mean these jeans looked professional! I guess if you want something done right and the way you want it... you got to do it yourself... am I right or am I right? Anyways, I am going to take you through the fascinating DIY experience of making your own one of a kind ripped Jeans and for all you DIY denim virgins out there, I suggest you don’t start chopping up your favorite pair of jeans! I think it is better to practice on a pair you kind of like, but don’t mind ruining, just in case. Or, maybe get an inexpensive pair of jeans and practice with them before you touch the ones you love. They have some good pairs of jeans at Forever21, Zara, or H&M. This way you won’t have to stress about being perfect on your first try! The other positive thing about “DIY denim” is that you’re in charge of how cropped you want them to be or how high or low you want the holes to be. You’re basically like a barber but for your jeans! SOOOO much less pressure if you mess up because jeans can’t talk or ask for their money back. (; You’re in the clear! So don’t be a-frayed and have fun with it! HERE WE GO… 1.THE 4 MAIN THINGS YOU WILL NEED! • Fabric scissors or regular scissors • A pair of jeans • Washer & dryer • Your Imagination!!!!! 2. LET’S DO THIS! • When you’re cutting make sure to keep the denim fabric pulled tight! This will keep the trim as straight as possible on the first try. If you need to use a ruler and a pencil to draw a straight line, do so! When cutting, keep in mind how cropped you want to go, less is always more. Maybe start at the bottom seam and work your way up to the desired length! Also remember it will look shorter after you are done. 3. LAST BUT NOT LEAST! • You can either damp the part of the cut section or just throw them in the washer. This is an important step to get the results we want. • After you wet them, throw them in the dryer to get the full fray effect! Next month I will teach you how to give them a stressed look with a disposable razor! For now, let’s master the scissors. Pues esos jeans parecería que son hechos ¡por profesionales! Supongo que si quieres algo bien hecho, y de la forma que a ti te gusta... tienes que hacerlo tú mism ... ¿si o no? Así es que te voy a llevar a través de la fascinante experiencia de hacer tus propios vaqueros rasgados y para todos ustedes DIY (que en Ingles es Do It Yourself) denim vírgenes por ahí, te sugiero que no comiences a cortar tu Jeans ¡favorito! Creo que es mejor si practicas con un par que te quede bien, pero no te importe arruinar, por si acaso o tal vez conseguir un par de jeans baratos y así practicas con ellos antes de tocar tus favoritos. Forever21, Zara, o H & M tienen pantalones vaqueros muy económicos. De esta manera usted no tendrá que preocuparse en tener un resultado perfecto en tu primer intento. La otra cosa positiva acerca de “DIY denim” es que usted está a cargo de cuanto deseas recortar y del estilo que quieres, si deseas que sean cortos o largos o si deseas que los agujeros sean grandes o pequeños. ¡Tu serás básicamente quien los diseñara como un peluquero tu pelo, pero para tus vaqueros! Asi no hay presión, pues los jeans no pueden hablar o pedir su dinero de vuelta. ;) ¡Así que a deshilachar y a divertirse con él! AQUÍ VAMOS… 1. LAS 4 COSAS PRINCIPALES QUE USTED NECESITARÁ. • Tijeras de tela o tijeras regulares • Un par de vaqueros • Lavadora • Secadora ¡¡¡¡¡ Y tu imaginación!!!!! 2. ¡HAGÁMOSLO! • Cuando estés cortando asegúrate de mantener la tela de mezclilla estirada. Esto mantendrá el recorte tan recto como sea posible en el primer intento. Si necesitas usar una regla y un lápiz para dibujar una línea recta, ¡hazlo! Cuando cortes, ten en cuenta que tan cortos los quieres, menos es siempre más. ¡Comienza quizá en la costura inferior y trabaje hasta lograr el largo deseado! También recuerda que se verá más corto después de que hayas terminado. 3. POR ÚLTIMO, ¡PERO NO MENOS IMPORTANTE! • Puedes humedecer la parte de la sección cortada o simplemente meter el pantalón a la lavadora. Este es un paso importante para obtener los resultados que queremos. Después de mojarlos, mételos en la secadora para obtener el efecto de flequillo ¡completo! El próximo mes te enseñaré cómo darles un estilo “estresado” o gastado con una cuchilla de afeitar desechable! Por ahora vamos a dominar las tijeras. This time my mom and I had a blast visiting 6 parks in 5 days!

Todos sabemos que los parques temáticos de Orlando son lo mejor para vacaciones familiares, pero no necesitas la excusa de “llevar a los niños” para pasarla increíble. ¿Qué pueden hacer ahí un par de señoras maduras? ¡Más de lo que puedas imaginar! He ido varias veces sola porque me encantan y quiero ver y disfrutar todo sin interrupciones. ¡Esta vez mi mama y yo la pasamos fabuloso visitando 6 parques en 5 dias!

The first day we started early at Disney‘s Magic Kingdom, I had to ride the new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and it is awesome! It follows a winding path through the Enchanted Forest and a rocky tunnel up a steep hill; at the summit, the cart navigates hairpin turns around the mountain through a verdant countryside and deep into a mine shaft teetering back and forth. During the ride you can see lots of colorful jewels, views of Fantasyland, a waterfall, and Snow White’s cottage. After a quick visit to Fantasyland to admire all the new princesses and additions, we ran to Tomorrowland to take a double ride in my all times favorite Space Mountain, mom did not ride it so I used her Fast Pass to go twice, on both trains, the difference with Disneyland’s is that here it is double. My heart starts pumping as it glides through an energy tunnel pulsating with blinking lights and ascend a 180-foot high mountain to be launched from the top into the remote blackness of the dark universe filled with sounds of space and galactic music surrounded by stars on a thrilling space ride with passing shooting stars, satellites, comets, and meteors and feeling the push and pull of gravity as you soar into a swirling wormhole on an amazing flight in space.

El primer día empezamos temprano en Disney’s Magic Kingdom, tenía que conocer el nuevo Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, ¡Esta fantástico! Sigue un sinuoso camino cuesta arriba a través del bosque encantado y un túnel; en la cima, navegas en pronunciadas vueltas alrededor de la montaña por el campo hasta entrar en la mina. Se ven muchas joyas multicolores, vistas de Fantasyland, una cascada y la casita de Blanca Nieves. Después de visitar Fantasyland para admirar a las princesas y nuevas atracciones, corrimos a Tomorrowland para subirme dos veces en mi favorita Space Mountain, mi mama no se subió así que use su Fast Pass para pasear en ambos trenes, a diferencia de la de Disneyland, esta es doble. Empieza a latir fuerte el corazón desde que pasas el túnel de brillantes luces al subir a la montaña de 180 pies para ser lanzado en la remota obscuridad del universo lleno de sonidos espaciales y música galáctica y rodeado de estrellas en un veloz viaje espacial con estrellas fugaces, satélites, cometas y meteoros sintiendo la gravedad en un sensacional vuelo espacial.

In the afternoon we took the Monorail to EPCOT where we entered the iconic geosphere for a look at the landmark moments that made today’s communication technology possible. Lifelike Audio-Animatronic displays and the soothing tones of narrator Dame Judi Dench give you an inspiring history lesson on this leisurely, 16-minute Omnimover-style ride. Then, we took a flight on a breezy, airborne adventure as we hang-glided in “Soaring’ Around the World!” above some of the most breathtaking wonders the world has to offer like the Great Wall of China, the Iguazu Falls in South America, Australia’s spectacular Sydney Harbor,

We rode the cars in the Test Track circuit, which is the same as Radiator Springs in Carsland at Disney’s California Adventure park but with a different theme; and felt like an astronaut in Journey to Mars in the X-2 Deep Space Shuttle at the International Space Training Center (ISTC). You get goose bumps as you arc around the moon and then attempt a precarious precision landing on the Red Planet’s alien surface. After so much adventure we relaxed visiting the 11 countries of the World Showcase. We traveled through ancient and modern China while watching a 14-minute Circle-Vision 360° film screening in the China Pavilion; met Snow White in Germany, Mulan in China and Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, in France to end at the Mexico Pavilion which exhibits Mexican arts and crafts, typical candies and tequilas! And has one of the best attractions, a boat ride with “Los Tres Caballeros” showcasing touristic attractions in Mexico. Just before the evening show at the lake, we had the most spectacular dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel, owned by the San Angel Inn in Mexico City, and believe me, it is excellent. Not often I give 5 stars, but I have been at many Disney parks and this is one of the best restaurants we have tried...loved it! Their Mexican cuisine and premium margaritas are served with old world hospitality, they have

Después de tanta aventura nos relajamos visitando los 11 países del World Showcase, viajamos por la antigua y moderna China viendo la película de 14 minutos en Circle-Vision en 360º en el pabellón de China; conocimos a Snow White en Alemania, a Mulan en China y a Belle, de la Bella y la Bestia, en Francia para rematar en el pabellón de México que exhibe artesanías, dulces típicos y tequilas mexicanos y tiene una de las mejores atracciones, un paseo en bote con “Los Tres Caballeros” mostrando atracciones turísticas de México. Justo antes del show nocturno en el lago, disfrutamos la cena más espectacular en La Hacienda de San Angel, de los mismos dueños del San Angel Inn de México, y créeme, es excelente. No doy 5 estrellas fácilmente, pero he estado en muchos parques de Disney y este es uno de los mejores restaurantes que he probado… ¡Me encanto! Sirven su cocina mexicana y fantásticas margaritas con ancestral hospitalidad, ofrecen vibrantes sabores de regiones de México bajo coloridas lámparas de globo y linternas de

vibrant flavors from regions around Mexico under colorful globe lamps and star lanterns, it is beautiful, with lots of windows out onto the lake and the menu is great. We really felt like we might have been in Mexico. Corn tortillas and fresh salsas are house-made; all of their ingredients are either locally sourced from smaller growers or imported from Mexico. The guacamole, zesty appetizers, main dishes, avocado margaritas, and desserts are to die for. The staff is very friendly and extremely attentive, but not overbearing, just enough to make you feel great. Our table overlooking the lake was the best spot in the house to enjoy the view of the World Showcase Lagoon where EPCOT’s fireworks are on each night. We even invited a British family to share it with us so they could see it better. It was a magical night! Huge thanks to Chef Jerry Gonzalez, our servers, and the rest of the team for making it a memorable experience. But the evening was not over, after the magnificent dinner and show, we went back to the Magic Kingdom just in time to catch the fabulous show that brings the Cinderella Castle to life with projections of Disney scenes and characters in an Evening of Fairytales cleverly projected onto the palace with a dazzling mix of special effects and moving music, lasers, lights, and fireworks hosted by Mrs. Potts and Chip that take you on an unforgettable journey that captures the heart, humor and heroism of many favorite Disney animated films. And to top it all, we enjoyed the beautiful lighted parade on Main Street! The next day we had a more relaxing but very interesting experience at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Cape Canaveral. It is organized into Mission Zones where attractions and tours are grouped chronologically. From the dawn of space exploration to current and ongoing missions, you can get an up-close, hands-on feel for the story of humans in space. We visited the Rocket Garden, the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, and saw the authentic Atlantis Space Shuttle. There is so much to explore, they have great theaters and showrooms, some on 3D, animation, and very nicely narrated exhibits like the launch of the first crewed NASA mission to orbit the moon in 1968 aboard the massive Saturn V rocket; the Apollo 11 moon landing and the wonder and excitement of the Apollo era. We saw a lot of modules, rovers, moon rocks, spacecraft, rockets, and lots of historical moments. And the next best thing to an actual space shuttle launch! Of course, I experienced the simulation of the space shuttle’s ascent into orbit! Just like an astronaut, you can learn to pilot the space shuttle in a high-tech simulator that brings to life the complex systems and components behind the engineering of the space shuttle orbiter. It is worth the visit! We could not miss a delicious dinner of fried shrimp with ice cold, tap beer in a very nice beach front restaurant in Cocoa Beach, home of the I Dream of Jeannie TV show. Uff! Too much for now…will continue with the rest of my ultimate vacation on next issue.

Las tortillas de maíz y salsas son hechas en casa; todos sus ingredientes proceden de pequeños proveedores o son importados desde México. El guacamole, los aperitivos, platos principales, margaritas de aguacate y postres son exquisitos. El staff es muy amigable y atento sin presionar, solo lo suficiente para hacer sentir bien. Nuestra mesa frente al lago con la mejor vista del World Showcase Lagoon era la mejor de la casa para disfrutar el show de fuegos artificiales de EPCOT. Hasta invitamos a una familia británica para que pudieran verlo mejor. ¡Fue una noche mágica! Gracias al Chef Jerry Gonzalez, nuestros meseros, y a todo el equipo por tan memorable experiencia. Pero no acabo ahí la noche, después de la magnífica cena y el show, regresamos al Magic Kingdom, justo a tiempo de alcanzar el fabuloso show sobre el castillo de Cenicienta con proyecciones de escenas y personajes de Disney en una Noche de Cuentos de Hadas fantásticamente proyectados en el palacio con efectos especiales, música, lasers, luces y fuegos artificiales narrado por Mrs. Potts y Chip que te llevan en un viaje inolvidable que capta el corazón, humor y heroísmo de muchas películas animadas de Disney. Y para rematar, vimos el hermoso desfile iluminado en la Main Street. El siguiente día fue más relajado pero una experiencia muy interesante en el Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex en Cabo Cañaveral. Esta organizado en Mission Zones con atracciones y tours agrupados cronológicamente. Desde el inicio de la exploración espacial a actuales misiones, puedes recorrer de cerca la historia de la humanidad en el espacio. Visitamos el Rocket Garden, el U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, vimos el auténtico Atlantis Space Shuttle. Hay tanto que explorar, tienen muy buenos teatros, algunos en 3D, animación y exhibiciones amenamente narradas como el lanzamiento de la primera misión tripulada de NASA a la órbita lunar en 1968 en el enorme rocket Saturn V; el alunizaje del Apollo 11 y la emoción de la era de los Apollos. Vimos muchos módulos, rovers, rocas lunares, naves espaciales, rockets y momentos históricos. Y lo mejor, lo más cercano a un lanzamiento espacial. ¡Por supuesto experimente la simulación del ascenso del Space Shuttle! Tal como un astronauta, puedes aprender a pilotearlo en un simulador de alta tecnología que da vida a los complejos sistemas y componentes detrás de la ingeniería del Space Shuttle Orbiter. ¡Vale la pena la visita! No podíamos perdernos una deliciosa cena de camarones empanizados y helada cerveza de barril en un lindo restaurante frente a la playa en Cocoa Beach, donde hacían Mi Bella Genio. Uff! After February 14th, 2015, say better, February 15th in the morning, I knew for certain that I was in love. Surely, you will wonder, how could I fall in love with someone I just met? To my surprise too, it was the first time that I had such an absurdity. I always believed that it was not possible, but thanks to the “skinny guy,” I learned that one can fall in love with the first, or rather the second, ha ha ha ha! A few weeks passed and I began to write many poems dedicated to him. Inspiration flowed smoothly. Every time I wrote a new poem, I sent it to him and he gave me his appreciation. It was nice to know that he had a certain interest in what I wrote. As well as who does not want the thing, months passed, until arriving at a year. We were two free people who shared nice moments, no strings attached. That perhaps on another occasion, I would not have admitted it, but what led me to continue with this subject was something that I cannot even understand. There were days that I woke up determined to cut from this strange relationship. It is necessary to clarify that until that moment, there was no other type of intimacy! Rare, right? I decided to cut it, then I feel regret and I did not follow through. Every time we saw each other, he was going to pick me up at the house. Luego del 14 de febrero del 2015, digamos mejor, 15 de febrero en la madrugada; supe a ciencia cierta que estaba enamorada. Seguro se preguntarán ¿cómo me pude enamorar de alguien a quien recién conozco?; pues para sorpresa mía también, era la primera vez que me sucedía tal absurdo. Yo siempre creía que no era posible, pero gracias al “flaco” aprendí que uno puede enamorarse a la primera, o mejor dicho a la segunda, ¡ja, ja, ja, ja! Pasaron unas semanas, y comencé a escribir muchos poemas dedicados a su persona. La inspiración fluía sin problemas. Cada vez que escribía un nuevo poema se lo enviaba y él me daba su apreciación. Era lindo saber que él tenía cierto interés en lo que yo escribía. Así como quien no quiere la cosa, pasaron meses, hasta llegar al año. Éramos dos personas libres que compartían momentos lindos, sin ataduras ni más. Eso quizás en otra ocasión, yo no lo hubiese admitido; pero lo que me llevaba a seguir con este tema, era algo que ni hasta ahora puedo comprender. Había días que me despertaba decidida a cortar con esta relación extraña. ¡Ojo que hasta ese momento no hubo otro tipo de intimidad! ¿Raro, verdad? Me decidía a cortarlo, luego me arrepentía y no lo hacía. Cada vez que nos veíamos, él me iba a recoger a la casa. Yo siempre le decía que me esperase en el parque a espaldas de mi casa; pues los vigilantes de la cuadra y los vecinos

Hugs were very intense, but even if it’s hard to believe it was not the evil of lust, but on the contrary, it was the sweetness of wanting to know how two souls that have so much connection can become a physical and spiritual unity. I knew he wanted some more intense contact, but he did not dare to say it, or maybe he did not want me to go away thinking that it was only the reason he was there. I, on the other hand, did not want to mention the subject either, so as not to put it in compromise, nor to show the great attraction, affection, and emotion that I was getting whenever I imagined that moment. We both respect each other, something rare in these times, when there are people who do not know each other, just go out on a date and have intimate relationships. Which I do not say is wrong, but in my case, and also in his, we needed to have a much stronger connection than a few dates. I think he and I we were waiting for the right time to give ourselves not only in body, but also in soul. As the title of this chapter says, “Me or you. I do not understand,” we were both. Es por ello, que le pedía que no me buscase directamente en la puerta de mi casa. Claro que hubo algunas ocasiones en las que era inevitable que él lo haga, pero en la mayoría de veces yo trataba que no fuese así. Dicen que las mujeres solemos ser muy reservadas, en cuanto a dejarnos ver desarregladas; pero era tanta la confianza que había logrado tener en él, que hasta en pijama salía a darle el encuentro. Yo no tenía vergüenza. Sin embargo, pensándolo bien, él, fotógrafo publicitario, siempre tenía contacto con mujeres bellas, esbeltas y siempre bien arregladas; algo que valgan verdades, no me importaba mucho, pues si él me buscaba era porque yo le gustaba. A continuación voy a describirme para que sepan cuál es mi apariencia. Soy algo andrógina, diría yo. Mido 1.70 cm, peso 53 a 54 kilogramos, tengo el cabello corto, muy corto; tez trigueña, aunque como soy mezcla de china con morena, tengo algo de amarilla, ja, ja, ja; ojos color negro (aunque dicen que los ojos negros no existen, solamente hay pardos oscuros), me gusta vestir de negro, una mezcla entre femenino y masculino; es decir, si uso una falda de cuero negra, me gusta combinarla con una chaqueta algo masculina; cosas así. Bueno, creo que fue por eso que él, también, atrapó mi atención; pues su apariencia es algo misteriosa y sexy al mismo tiempo. Pasaban las semanas y cada vez que nos veíamos, la tensión entre los dos, en tener algún tipo de contacto más allá de la línea, era algo que se percibía en el ambiente. Los besos eran dulces, pero la sensación de querer conocernos más era muy fuerte. Los abrazos eran muy intensos, pero aunque sea difícil de creerlo, no era esa malicia de lujuria; sino muy por el contrario, era la dulzura de querer saber cómo dos almas que tienen tanta conexión puedan llegar a ser una unidad física y espiritual. Yo sabía que él quería un contacto algo más intenso, pero no se atrevía a decirlo, o quizás no quería que yo me alejase por pensar que solamente eso era lo que él buscaba. Yo, por otro lado, tampoco quería mencionar el tema, para no ponerlo en compromiso, ni tampoco evidenciar la gran atracción, cariño y emoción que me suscitaba cada vez que me imaginaba aquel momento. Sé que ustedes los lectores, quieren que llegue a relatar esa situación de intimidad, pero les haré la espera más larga; puesto que hasta esa fecha, no pasó nada de nada. Ambos nos respetamos, algo raro en estas épocas, en donde hay personas que sin conocerse, simplemente salen en una cita y ya tienen relaciones íntimas; lo que no digo que esté mal, pero en mi caso, y también en el suyo; teníamos que tener una conexión mucho más fuerte que unas cuantas salidas. Creo que tanto él como yo, estábamos esperando el momento idóneo para no solamente entregarnos en cuerpo, sino también en alma. Así como dice el título de este capítulo “Soy yo o eres tú. No comprendo”, éramos los dos. Simple y llanamente, los dos, que sin querer sabíamos que el momento llegaría; pero aún nos faltaba compenetrarnos más. They headed to the same place. Talked about endless things. Then, from there, they walked through the city aimlessly. For him it was amazing to see that abnormal girl, enjoy every simple thing they did together, including the demonic heat that they had in the city. A sun ray, the wind, a pebble in the ground… Yes, that girl apart from dressing extravagantly she belonged to a very uncommon kind of female in the city and to date the prettiest and weirdest that he’s met in his life. He had to recognize that her company gave him grateful moments that he didn’t think He would live in his last years in the city. The simplicity of the stuff began giving color unrelated to the few he knew and with no doubt, he began liking this weird effect. THE DAYS… Passed as simple and pretty like that, each going back home and meeting again the next day. In the same place, same hour, always at ten. Every afternoon, He still looked with pleasure his Pentobarbital and it would be tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow, the day when He would finally do it. But tomorrow concluded in more days and there was still no definitive date. While, this girl shared stuff with him daily. The days ended and others began. Those were days full of light, light of life to him. The dark colors of his wardrobe were beginning to be replaced with whites, blues, reds and more. His black hair was in view of the people. The smiles kept began going out without being forced. The better days of his life he felt he was living them; he could feel the air while he breathed deeply, he closed his eyes and extended his arms facing an open field. One day, like all previous he arrived to the same place but, she was not in that bench. He waited for her, looked at his clock and nothing. Only the calmness of the city that announced a common morning.

Se encaminaron al mismo lugar. Hablaron un sinfín de cosas. Luego de ahí, caminaron por la ciudad sin rumbo alguno. Para él era muy asombroso ver a esa chica poco normal, disfrutar de cada cosa simple que hacían juntos, incluido el calor demoniaco que había en la ciudad. Un rayo de sol, el viento, una piedra en el suelo… Si, esa chica aparte de vestir extravagante pertenecía a una clase de féminas poco común por la ciudad y hasta la fecha lo más bonito y raro que había conocido en su vida. Tenía que reconocer que la compañía de ella le brindaba gratos momentos que no pensó haber vivido en sus últimos años en la ciudad. La simpleza de las cosas empezaban a dar coloridos ajenos a los pocos que conocía y sin duda alguna, ese efecto extraño empezaba a gustarle. LOS DÍAS… Pasaron así de simples y bonitos, cada uno regresando a casa y volviendo a encontrarse al día siguiente. Mismo lugar, misma hora, siempre las diez. Cada tarde, él miraba aún con agrado su Pentobarbital y sería hasta mañana, mañana, mañana, el día en que por fin lo haría. Pero el mañana concluyo en varios días y no había aun fecha definitiva. Mientras, esta chica compartía cosas con él a diario. Los días terminaban y otros más empezaban. Eran días llenos de luz, luz para la vida de él. Los colores oscuros de su guardarropa empezaban a sustituirse por blancos, azules, verdes, rojos y demás. Su pelo negro ya estaba a la vista de las personas. Las sonrisas guardadas empezaban a salir sin ser forzadas. Los mejores días de su vida sentía estarlos viviendo; el aire ya podía sentirlo mientras respiraba hondo, cerraba sus ojos y extendía sus brazos frente a un campo abierto. Un día, como todos los anteriores llegó al mismo lugar pero, ella no estaba en esa banca. La esperó, miró su reloj y nada. Sólo la tranquilidad de la ciudad que anunciaba una mañana cualquiera.

He, his world and his tears were overflown… He took impulse to run fast through the lonely avenue and go out that place as soon as possible; his heart accelerated was about to explode, and only dictated him to run faster and faster until he stopped feeling that emotion that gnawed his soul, that adrenaline that he couldn’t contain. And he ran, ran, and ran through that abandoned street, he ran crying until exhaustion and sustaining his panting body in his knees. With the crying afloat and warmth of the sun as witness of his sorrow, he closed his eyes until he listened only to the silence and his accelerated breathing. Pasó una hora y seguía sin aparecer. Diviso la iglesia, la cual jamás en su vida había visitado. No creía que Dios existiera pero en sus adentros con burla se decía a si mismo que si existía, quizá debería estar en “su santuario” así que para matar tiempo, emprendió la caminata hacia la catedral. Cruzó la calle y al otro extremo un vendedor de globos lo miró e inevitable fue que este le tendiera una incrédula sonrisa. Entró al templo. A lo lejos había un hombre vestido con túnicas largas y un crucifijo en las manos, también había una pared repleta de cuadros la cual llamó su atención. Caminó por los asientos, pasó por la enorme cruz que sostenía a un cristo tendido de brazos hasta que llegó lentamente hasta la pared. Observó con cautela cada cuadro, los colores, las fechas, hasta encontrarse con el rostro de una mujer que le parecía particularmente conocida en medio de todos aquellos. Se acercó lentamente al marco hasta tocarlo cuidadosamente con la yema de sus dedos. Era una mujer muy bella, con una sonrisa angelical y ojos oscuramente hermosos. Su cara… sus ojos… eran tan conocidos hasta que… - ¡Mierda! Susurró entre dientes. Una emoción sacudió terriblemente todo su cuerpo. Sentía miedo y una confusión enorme se albergó en su cabeza. Una voz vieja y ronca lo interrumpió mientras su mirada clavada en la imagen, permanecía sin parpadeo alguno. -¿Te puedo ayudar en algo hijo? -Sí - Respondió titubeante ¿Quién es ella? Jake lo mirò con indiferencia pero no le contestó nada y apresuró sus pasos para salir y descargar la emoción que oprimía su pecho. Un par de lágrimas recorrieron sus mejillas y por su mente, miles de escenas pasaba: soló ella, su sonrisa y los días pasados. No sabía qué pensar, qué decir, ni a dónde ir. Se sentó en la misma banca, volteó a todos lados y aun con recelo, no la encontró por ninguna parte. Era increíble pensar que le estaba sucediendo esto a él. Era horrible saber que ayer, el motivo que lo impulsó a levantarse hoy ya no estaba… La ciudad, los carros, los ruidos, todo seguía avanzando. El, su mundo y sus lágrimas estaban desbordados…. Tomó impulso para correr a prisa por la solitaria avenida y salir de ese lugar lo más pronto posible; su corazón acelerado a punto de estallar, soló le dictaba correr más y más aprisa hasta dejar de sentir esa emoción que le carcomía el alma, esa adrenalina que no podía contener. Y corrió, corrió, corrió por esa abandonada calle, corrió llorando hasta cansarse y sostener su cuerpo jadeante en sus rodillas. Con el llanto a flote y la calidez del sol que atestiguaba a su pena, cerró los ojos hasta sólo escuchar el silencio y su acelerada respiración. El sollozo era casi eterno pero pasando los minutos logro un poco de serenidad hasta retomar nuevamente fuerzas. No había nadie a su alrededor, seco sus lágrimas, respiro tan hondo hasta sentir que el mismo oxigeno abrazaba su alma. Portugal se fue al frente por medio de Quaresma, Chícharo lo igualó al entretiempo, y Cédric hizo el 2-1 a cuatro minutos del final. Cuando todo parecía perdido, Moreno hizo la igualada en el agregado para poner cifras definitivas en un empate que sabía a victoria. En Sochi, México chocaba con NZ, nuevamente contra las cuerdas. Wood marcaba al entretiempo, pero al complemento, el Tricolor se llevó los tres puntos con los goles de Oribe Peralta y Raúl Jiménez. Sumaban el primer triunfo, pero daban de qué hablar debido a las 8 rotaciones respecto al debut. Nuevamente en Kazán, México ahora se media al anfitrión. Los rusos se iban al frente al 25’ por medio de Samedov, tercera ocasión “iniciando perdiendo”. El repunte inmediatamente llegó por medio de Néstor Araujo e Hirving Lozano. Ya en semifinales, Alemania era el siguiente rival en Sochi. Osorio modificó en su once, se guardó a Carlos Vela y de inmediato lo padecería, ya que los teutones tenían el partido en la bolsa con tan solo ocho minutos jugados. Desconcentración y errores en la parte baja pusieron en jaque a México. Todavía los germanos holgarían el marcador en par de ocasiones y Fabián marcaría el de la honra, pero México ya estaba eliminado, no podía dar ese paso trascendental. La burla ya era total hacia México, sus defensas y el propio Osorio, pero Memo Cantú le deba el espaldarazo. Lo peor de lo peor llegaría en el juego de consolación por el tercer lugar. Portugal nuevamente era el rival. El Tricolor tenía el duelo en la bolsa con autogol de Neto provocado por Chícharo, pero en el agregado y con grave error de Layún, Pepe, mandó el duelo a los tiempos extra. De poco sirvió la gran actuación de Ochoa que atajó hasta un penalti. En tiempos extra, Layún redondeó su pesadilla, metió la mano en área chica y el penalti era un hecho. Adrien hizo la diferencia y México ni alcanzó la cuarta plaza. TECATE Todo inició mal, cerca de viajar a Europa, Jesús “Tecatito” Corona era baja por problemas personales, al momento nadie entendía las causas, Rusia 2017 prometía con él, pero otra vez la FMF y el Tricolor daban de qué hablar. Oportunidades y facilidades por estar en Europa, sirvieron para que Carlos Salcedo e Hirving Lozano recibieran un partido especial para que viajaran a Holanda y firmaran su nuevo contrato con sus flamantes clubes. Algo poco entendible cuando lo importante era la concentración en el Tricolor en plano desarrollo de la Confederaciones. LESIONES Carlos Salcedo y Diego Reyes fueron los lesionados más graves del Tricolor, el “Titán” tuvo que incluso romper la concentración y regresar a México para ser operado. Reyes permaneció en el grupo en los últimos dos duelos, pero ya no tuvo acción. Mucha falta le hizo a la zaga defensiva porque ya sin ellos daban complacencias. DEFENSA DE AGUA La zaga baja fue la peor zona de México, es cierto que sufrieron por las lesiones y bajas, pero solamente Araujo y Moren estuvieron más cerca de la concentración, ya que Alanís y Miguel Layún la pasaron mal, muy mal. Al final, el Tricolor marcó esa numeralía, recibieron más goles de los que recibió. Diez goles en contra, 8 a favor. RESCATABLE Dentro del seleccionado y la aventura rusa pocos fueron los que sudaron la gota gorda como en el caso de Ochoa, Chícharo, Jonathan, Aquino y Vela, ellos sí marcaron diferencia. LO QUE VIENE El Tricolor ya deba cambiar de chip, pues en unos días les harán frente a la Copa Oro, la continuación del Hexagonal y una posible gira a Europa.

And so he came in with his whole body, putting his elbow to defend himself, moorings and shoves, hooks to do rabbit punches and the head ahead as an extra weapon. ““Pacman” put his warning of danger with a bold left-hander who found lodging again and again, Horn’s face began to show the ravages because Manny who protected himself with two hands, in addition, he hit the nail on the head, in a fight that became interesting despite the wiles of the Australian to whom we give the credit of his delivery. Manny llegó con una sonrisita de oreja a oreja y se postró como todo buen cristiano en una esquina neutral para orar por la salud tanto propia como la de su rival al final de la contienda. “El Avispón” se vio eficiente durante el primer asalto, comandando la ofensa a conciencia de saber contra quien se estaba enfrentando y por eso entraba con todo el vuelo del cuerpo, poniendo codo de por medio, amarre y empujón, candado para dar golpes de conejo y con la cabeza por delante como arma extra. “Pacman” ponía su aviso de peligro con una zurda intrépida que encontraba alojamiento una y otra vez y el rostro de Horn que empezaba a mostrar los estragos porque donde Manny que se protegía a dos manos donde ponía el ojo ponía la guantada en una pelea que se tornaba interesante a pesar de las artimañas del australiano al cual le damos el crédito de su entrega. Para la mitad de la pelea Horn quien aguantó vara todo lo que se le recetó seguía dando guerra con su estilo callejero, haciendo valer su tamaño y su alcance, después vinieron los cabezazos donde Pacquiao salió más perjudicado con boquetes en el cuero cabelludo a cada lado, pero no disminuyó su faena y seguía saliéndole al toro por los cuernos. En el noveno asalto todo indicaba que Manny haría de las suyas cuando hostigaba a su rival que no hallaba donde esconderse para no sucumbir y al lograr vencer el reloj, Pacquiao le lanzó una sonrisa como diciéndole “Te Salva La Campana”. Los asaltos siguientes fueron muy competitivos pero a leguas se miraba que la brújula de “Pacman” le daba la ventaja de la puntería, más al final del día, lo que vale es la voz de los jueces presentes que le dieron la victoria unánime a Jeff Horn que mantiene lo invicto con 17-0 un empate y lo más importante, queda su nombre en el mapa del reconocimiento con el triunfo ante el astro filipino que si contesto que le gustaría la revancha, pero sin mucha emoción por la contrariedad que le ha seguido en algunas peleas de impacto. Teddy Atlas y otros comentaristas estaban que echaban humo hasta por los sobacos por lo que consideran un robo descarado y los números del boxeo computarizado los respaldan ya que en todas las categorías Manny le dobló la cantidad a “El Avispón” quien con los ojos de mapache siente que fue un veredicto honesto y que con gusto bailara otra vez el oso contra Pacquiao quien dijo que quiere lo que le dijo el ganso a la gansa… ¡Ven-ganza!
