A LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

Mi Mundo Magazine (MMM) was created over 3 years ago, however, we were only in Spanish for the first two years which limited our readership and our potential. I decided to make MMM bilingual last year so we can include our English readers and welcome them to Mi Mundo (My World). Since then, things have progressed and our readership and has grown, but our target is still the same. We are a Hispanic publication, but we are still seen as a small group. Clark County is the 16th largest Hispanic county in the country with over 660,000 people which is almost 1/3 of the total population of Clark County, so we are not that small after all. We are the only bilingual magazine with substantive content. I’m very proud of what we have accomplished so far and how we have been able to surprise those who dare to open a bilingual magazine for the first time. My priority is to change the misconception about my community and my people and to show the world how rich we are in culture and how much we love this country and how much we have to offer. As a serial entrepreneur, this is my favorite venture of all. I love creating this magazine and walking you through different topics. Our magazine is about art, culture, lifestyle, tourism, technology, and so much more, but never gossip. We make an emphasis on tourism because we want our Spanish speakers from around the globe to know where to go and why Las Vegas is a must-visit city when coming to United States. We are also including in our magazine a directory from Silicon Valley and San Diego, where we publish other editions of Mi Mundo Magazine and coming next months, Mexico!! Our team couldn’t be more multicultural. The people behind this magazine combined speak over 10 languages. And I love to see how grows every month. Love you guys! Thank you everyone! Mi Mundo Magazine fue creada hace 3 años, sin embargo, solo en español por los primeros dos años lo cual limitaba a nuestros lectores y nuestro potencial. El año pasado decidí hacer la revista bilingüe para que pudiéramos incluir a nuestros lectores que hablan inglés y darles la bienvenida a Mi Mundo Magazine. Desde entonces, las cosas han progresado y nuestros lectores han aumentado, pero nuestro objetivo sigue siendo el mismo. Somos una publicación Hispana, pero seguimos siendo clasificados como un grupo pequeño. El Condado de Clark está en el lugar 16 de los condados más grandes de habla Hispana del país con aproximadamente 660,000 personas lo cual es casi 1/3 del total de la población así que no somos un grupo tan pequeño después de todo. Nosotros somos la única revista bilingüe con contenido sustantivo, estoy muy orgullosa de lo que hemos logrado hasta ahora y como hemos sido capaces de sorprender a las personas que le dan una oportunidad a una revista bilingüe por primera vez. Mi prioridad es cambiar la idea equivocada de mi comunidad, demostrarle al mundo que tan ricos somos en cultura, que tanto amamos este país y que tanto tenemos para ofrecer. Como una empresaria con múltiples intereses, este es mi favorito de todos. Amo crear esta revista y tocar diferentes temas. Nuestra revista promueve y toca temas de arte, cultura, estilo de vida, turismo, tecnología y mucho más pero nunca de chismes o de farándula. Hacemos énfasis en turismo porque queremos que nuestros hablantes hispanos de alrededor del mundo sepan a donde pueden ir y por qué Las Vegas es una ciudad que debe ser visitada al venir a los Estados Unidos. También incluimos en nuestra revista un directorio de Silicon Valley y San Diego, donde publicamos otras ediciones de Mi Mundo Magazine y próximamente Mi Mundo Magazine México. Nuestro equipo no podría ser más multicultural. Las personas detrás de esta revista, combinadas, hablamos aproximadamente 10 idiomas. Y amo poder ver cómo crece cada mes. ¡Gracias a todos! With a career that spans more than three decades, Spanish singer, author, and actor Miguel Bosé has recorded more than 30 albums, made appearances in more than 35 films and his numerous charttopping singles, such as “Anna,” “Salamandra,” “Te Amaré,” “Amante Bandido,” “Sevilla,” “Como Un Lobo,” “Morenamía,” “Si Tu No Vuelves,” and “Morir de Amor” have made him an international pop star. His albums have received certified platinum status throughout Latin America, Spain, and Europe and he has garnered several awards, including a Latin GRAMMY for his 2001 album Sereno. Throughout his impressive career, Bosé has worked with a vibrant list of talented artists, including Gloria Gaynor, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, Malú, Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz, Shakira, Michael Stipe.

The son of Italian actress Lucia Bosè and Spanish bullfighter Luis Miguel Dominguín, Bose grew up surrounded by art and culture: Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway were close friends of the family. The film director Luchino Visconti was his godfather while Pablo Picasso was the godfather to his sister Paola Dominguin. Propelled by his famous family and their friends, in 1971, Bosé started a career as an actor, participating in various movies. He quickly won spots on the basis of his talent and good looks alone, rather than his name, and he did study serious acting as well as dancing and singing. With the assistance of Camilo Blanes (Camilo Sesto) he recorded his first singles. Between 1977 and 1982, Bosè was a major teen idol in Italy, Spain and Southern Europe in general. He had 7 top ten hits in a disco/new wave trend that earned him a secure spot in every televised song festival held in the aforementioned countries, but it was in 1985 that he became an international superstar, when his song “Amante bandido” rose to the top of the charts all over Latin America and in Spain. March 20, 2007, to celebrate his 30 years as a singer, he released Papito, an album that contains remakes of his previous songs, reinterpreted in duets with Juanes, Alejandro Sanz, Fangoria, Ivete Sangalo, Laura Pausini, Shakira, Julieta Venegas, Ricky Martin, Amaia Montero (past member of the Spanish band La Oreja de Van Gogh), and Michael Stipe from R.E.M., along with many other singers. Three singles were released off Papito: the first is a remake of his hit “Nena”, featuring Mexican superstar Paulina Rubio; the second was “Morena Mía”, with Mexican pop diva Julieta Venegas. The third single “Como un lobo” featured his niece Bimba Bosé. “Nena” was by far the most successful single off the album. It was nominated for a Latin Grammy for best song and became the bestselling download of Spain in 2007. On September 4, 2012 he released the album Papitwo, a follow-up to his successful Papito. The album contained additional remakes of well-known songs from his career, again featuring artists such as Juanes on “Partisano”, Bimba Bosé on “Shoot Me in the Back” and Alejandro Sanz on “Te Comería El Corazón”. It also included new collaborations with singers such as Pablo Alborán on “Puede Que”, Juan Luis Guerra on “Creo En Ti”, Tiziano Ferro on “Amiga”, Jovanotti on “Mirarte”, Malú on his first hit “Linda” (first single in Spain), Joaquín Sabina on “Sol Forastero”, Ximena Sariñana on “Aire Soy” (first single in the Americas) and Dani Martín on “Te Digo Amor”, among others. The Hollywood actress Penélope Cruz collaborated on the unreleased song “Decirnos Adiós”, composed by her brother for Bosé. Now Bose has hit the stage once again but on his own. His new album consists of 12 songs including an English song, “I Miss Your Face”. A song dedicated to his father, the first single, “Encanto” released on YouTube and iTunes as a preview was co-written by Bose, Lanfranco Ferrario and Massimo Grilli. The three have worked together for 20 years resulting in classics such as “Si tu no Vuelves”. Miguel Bosé was honored as the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year by the Latin GRAMMY Recording Academy, chosen for his philanthropic and professional accomplishments, Bosé received the honor at a star-studded concert and tribute gala at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. As an honoree, Bosé joined a list of past recipients that includes Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernandez, Juan Luis Guerra, Carlos Santana, Shakira, and Caetano Veloso, among many others. Over the years, Bosé has not only contributed monetarily to various charitable organizations but has also donated his time, talent and voice to various social projects and environmental causes. Through his Foundation Paz Sin Fronteras (Peace Without Borders), he fights for the right for all people to live in peace. To bring international awareness to the cause, he organized concerts with various talented artists in places such as Cúcuta (located on the border between Colombia and Venezuela) and La Habana, Cuba. In 2009, he joined the CIE Foundation and became the godfather of one of its programs, Aldeas Musicales — schools in indigenous villages that provide education and teach students Spanish, a trade and how to play an instrument. Bosé also organizes a grand gala in Barcelona to raise funds for the foundation Fight Against AIDS, an effort for which he was recognized with Aid for Aids’ My Hero Award. Additionally, he is dedicated to protecting marine life through various projects such as Oceana, the largest international organization that focuses on ocean conservation, and the campaign Hugh’s Fish Fight, which is dedicated to protecting dwindling fish stocks. In 2010, he received honorary Colombian citizenship for his efforts toward peace. In celebration of the Hispanic Heritage Month, Miguel Bose will perform at the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Resort and Casino on September 15 at 8pm part of his 2017 US concert tour. Just what Las Vegas city needed about fashion! Las Vegas, today, is the number two most exciting city on the planet, where all the most important famous fashion designer clothing stores are but until now never had a real fashion week. The American and the Brazilian Communities celebrated the grand debut of BRLV FASHION WEEK. Comedian Mario Zapata from the RadioVegas.Rocks Show, Brazilian designer Aldo Mencatto and Leo Sandes hosted a gala dinner at the Gold Coast Casino last September to celebrate the new beginning for fashion in Las Vegas with the mission of bringing fashion and art together in a unique showcase to benefit Las Vegas fashion industry and the art of fashion. It was a wonderful evening where two Brazilian fashion designers showcased a variety of exclusive designs, a brand-new swimwear collection and accessories with 25 models, including Erica Bonilla and Katia Cabada, on the runway. They delighted an enthusiastic audience gathered to welcome the first annual BRLV Fashion Week which surely will bring the difference to the State of Nevada and the city of Las Vegas.

Mat Franco has his own theater in the Linq and is celebrating his second year there. The great winner of America’s Got Talent certainly deserves a room named after him. With sellout crowds nightly, his up-close illusions amaze everyone. Young, talented and thrilled to be living in Las Vegas, we can certainly expect him to stay at the Linq for years to come. As the first and only magician ever to win NBC’s America’s Got Talent, Mat Franco takes a new approach to magic-making that’s driven by pure joy. Mat is almost entirely self-taught, with help from his grandmother. Twenty-nine years old, from Rhode Island, he started developing his own shows before the age of ten. At the ripe old age of 15, he performed on stage at the Riviera Hotel & Casino. Franco is now currently headlining his own show, Magic Reinvented Nightly. The Las Vegas Philharmonic, led by Music Director, Donato Cabrera, established its presence in Southern Nevada in 1998. The mission of the organization is to perform music that enriches and educates, helping to build a vibrant, culturally rich community. Music education and outreach are the cornerstones of the Philharmonic’s commitment to community. Their Youth Concert Series brings more than 19,000 children annually into the concert hall for a vital music education program, and the Cox Communications Young Artists’ Concerto Competition recognizes and encourages emerging talent among Nevada youth in the area of music performance. The season of concerts showcases local talents alongside stellar nationally and internationally known guest artists on the magnificent Reynolds Hall stage at the Smith Center. At the orchestra’s core are 76 contracted professional musicians, many of whom are esteemed educators who also perform in other professional productions in Las Vegas, bringing depth and variety to the organization. This will be the third season that the Philharmonic has offered the Flex Pass as an alternative to its traditional subscription packages. Flex Pass is a membership-based program that offers customization and flexibility for patrons to decide which concert(s) they want to attend at a later date. It offers 6 seats to any of the Philharmonic’s Reynolds Hall performances in the upcoming 2017-2018 season. The seats can be redeemed all at once or broken into any configuration, using up to a maximum of 6 seats. BLACKOUT- “DINING IN THE DARK,” is the newest addition to a one of a kind restaurant in Las Vegas. With all the high-end, ethnic, and celebrity chef places, no one else has ventured out into this market. It is a totally new concept in Las Vegas, though there are a few with the same idea around the country. BLACKOUT opened on July 7th on the west side in a small but perfect spot for 50 patrons. It is a multi-course culinary journey of your senses in complete darkness. Did you ever think what it would be like to taste, indulge, smell, and feel your meal without actually seeing what is served? Can you tell what you are eating by guessing a new flavor on your palette, one that is familiar but you must wonder if you are right.

BLACKOUT is totally different than anything you have experienced before. The lobby is very appealing, and they have lockers where your items are locked up. Therefore, no cheating with cell phone photos in the dining room. You are asked if you have any food allergies or preferences as you won’t know what is being served. With a prix-fixe mystery menu for lunch and dinner that will change seasonally, it is offered from four to six courses. Guests can choose from three different flavor profiles, sweet, spicy, or savory.

Each course has been beautifully designed to awaken your senses and keep you guessing. The wait staffs that are wonderfully friendly are equipped with night vision goggles and will guide and assist you to your table. They will then introduce you to your new “dark” environment. Opening this great new place are Rachel and Avi Levi, who originally opened Design & Dine “Eat, Drink Paint,” which allowed guests to eat while doing art. They were so successful that they have moved up with BLACKOUT. “Our sense of sight is so dominant that once we no longer have it, all other senses become much more intense; the way we smell, touch, and taste our food is a totally new experience,” says Rachel.

On September 9th, the award-winning Carnevino Italian Steakhouse hosted a “battle” of the dinner’s between Spain’s Anthony Sasso from NYC’s CASA MONO and LA SIRENA RISTORANT and CARNEVINO’S Las Vegas Arnold Corpuz for Italy. This was a seven-course menu with wine paring and is the newest part of the guest chef dinner series featured at The Palazzo. Sasso and Corpuz featured dishes from each of their respective countries, letting guests taste and sample each one. The menu consisted of both traditional and newly created entrees. There, of course, was dessert provided by Pastry Chef Ashley Pietrafeso. Sasso came from Spanish heritage and works mainly with local Catalan specialties, adding them in as his position as executive chef at the two New York City restaurants. The first course consisted of Camaron Crudo, vs. Ricciola Crudo. Second course, Razor Clams from both. Third course Escabeche, Spanish mackerel faces off against Pesce Scapece, Squash and grilled eggplant. Fourth course, Albondigas soup vs. Polpette a variety of veal meatballs. Fifth course, Canelones Rellenos, vs. Manicotti. Sixth course Pequeña Costilla, olive oil-poached pork belly vs Costolette, red wine braised short ribs, and finishing up with Flan, vs. Bonet, glazed figs and pomegranate. Stay on the lookout for future dinners at this wonderful steakhouse. Future guest chefs will include Nancy Silverton and Shirley Chung. Silverton along with Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich, co-owners of Osteria Mozza and Pizzeria Mozza in LA, Newport Beach, and Singapore. Chung is a former “Top Chef” contestant. Existe una conexión entre la creatividad, el equilibrio, el control y la confianza en sí misma de la mujer con su vagina. La percepción que tiene una mujer sobre la apariencia y sobre la funcionalidad de su vagina define en gran medida su esencia, su sentido del ser y su feminidad. La vagina es una ventana hacia la vida. Es la joya más preciada, un tesoro entre paredes húmedas y oscuras; es el misterio y el secreto de toda mujer, y la fuente de un placer incalculable. No obstante, hay circunstancias que opacan su apariencia y la posibilidad de obtener y de dar placer. Hay mujeres que nacen con condiciones no muy gratas “allí abajo”, con labios menores demasiado grandes, con el canal muy estrecho o demasiado ancho, con la piel que protege el clítoris demasiado pronunciada. Estas circunstancias pueden causar malestar e incomodidad y muchas veces hasta dolor al realizar actividades cotidianas. Por ejemplo, unos labios menores demasiado largos pueden generar inseguridad en la mujer cuando luce un bikini, o dolor cuando se genera fricción o aplastamiento por alguna actividad – como montar en bicicleta o montar a caballo. Esto puede conllevar a generar ampollas o quemaduras; haciendo la vida de la mujer un poco sufrida. Ni hablar de las posibles molestias durante las relaciones sexuales. Así mismo se presentan casos en los que la gravedad hace de las suyas, con el paso de los años o después de tener hijos. Algunas mujeres pierden sensibilidad, quedan demasiado anchas –en la apertura o en el canal vaginal. La vagina se torna un poco flácida –menos estrecha- y los labios mayores tienden a perder volumen. Por suerte, el mundo de la cirugía plástica estética ha avanzado hasta el punto de poder corregir estás incomodidades. Es momento del rejuvenecimiento vaginal;

Have a balanced diet and have a schedule as a routine to eat will lead to a healthy body in shape and look very good. To your diet can be added for a better nutrition and a better result, the use of supplements like proteinvitamins-minerals-amino acids among others. They have supplements that do not produce alterations, only benefit, with the right amount and enough you will have no problem. Tiener una dieta balanceada y tiener un horario de comidas, te llevara a lucir un cuerpo saludable, en forma y con muy buena apariencia. FIRST MEAL ( 5 ) Eggs white and ( 2 ) yolks ( 1 ) Cup of oats meal ( 1 ) Cup of coffee or orange juice SECOND MEAL (120) Grams of chicken breast (8oz) of rice or we can replace this meal with (3) scoops of the protein you are using with water, try do not to replace the food with the protein shake daily. THIRT MEAL (200) Grams of chicken or salmon (1) cup of rice, vegetable salad with avocado and some light drinks and water. FOURTH MEAL (8oz) of Turkey or tuna (6oz) of rice or sweet potato drink water or coffee. FIFTH MEAL (200) Grams of chicken or fish and vegetable salad with avocado drink water or light drinks before sleeping a scoop of casein. The hours and amounts depend on each person. Remember, that before training you should consume some carbohydrates and after training you consume more calories than you spent in your routine, this has the function of filling the glycogen spent during training and the protein is free to makes your muscles grow. Maybe this is the most common question among dieters. I give it to you (3) example for which you have this problem: this happens when you have lost a lot of muscle and little fat. (WHEN WE TALK ABOUT LOSING WEIGHT WE TALK ABOUT LOSING FAT). Do cardio at a higher rate then you need, this makes you burn muscles not fat, the fat burning zone is 65% of your heart capacity you can calculate so 220 minus your age times 0.65 is your burn zone. Eating (3) times a day is not enough to get the energy that your body needs, you need to make your (5) meals a day with sufficient protein.

Estamos claro que tu objetivo es perder peso, porlo cual debes cosumir alimentos de bajo indice glicemico (IG) por ejemplo : pepinos, broccoli, lechuga, almendras, tomates, leche de soya, avenade hojuelas, quinoa entre otros. 2. Para ganar masa muscular que debo hacer con respecto a la alimentacion? -Un ejemplo que les dare es una dieta que en lo personal me ha funcionado muy bien. -5 comidas diarias -Todas deben incluir proteinas -La base esencial en la nutricion y el factor clave del crecimiento de masa corporal. PRIMERA COMIDA: • 5 claras de huevos y 2 yemas • 1 taza de avena • Café o jugo de naranja SEGUNDA COMIDA: • 120 gramos de pechuga de pollo • 8oz de arroz, o podemos reemplazar esta comida por 3 cucharadas de la proteinas que este usando (con agua )*nota: trata de no reemplazar la comida por el batido diariamente. TERCERA COMIDA: • 200 gramos de pollo o salmon • 1 taza de arroz • ensalada de verduras con aguacate y alguna bebida ligera y agua. Recordemos que antes del entrenamiento debes consumir algo de carbohidratos y posterior al entrenamiento debes consumir mas calorias de las que gastastes en tu rutina. Esto tiene la funcion de rellenar el glucogeno gastado durante el entrenamiento y la proteina quede libre para hacer crecer tus musculos.

Have you ever had a moment or period in your life when you’ve felt disempowered and weren’t quite sure how to regain your supremacy and happiness? Perhaps it was the result of a narcissistic boss who undermined your worth or intimidated you through insults or bullying. Maybe a friend betrayed you or took advantage, abusing your generosity. Did a cheating and lying partner pull the wool over your eyes, making you feel less than your actual worth? There are endless forms of disrespect and emotional rape that render us doubtful, fearful and defenseless. The good news is that you don’t have to remain powerless. I am excited to share three simple steps that will embolden you to live a more authentic and liberated life where you will never be the victim or the prey again—a life in which you will assert and maintain your personal sovereignty. Empowerment is a recent buzzword that you’ve probably heard in conversation or read about on social media. According to The Oxford Dictionary, self-empowerment refers to the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life and claiming one’s rights. It’s something most of us desire, but don’t necessarily have the tools, secret code, or courage to obtain. It’s something we all need in order to live a richer and more fulfilling life. Despite being difficult to attain, the building blocks to selfempowerment are very basic if implemented effectively and strategically. The first of the three steps is to Know Thyself. This is a very complex notion that originates in Egyptian and Greek philosophy. I’ll try to it sum up in one sentence. It means to have a complete understanding of who you are, what you are, and the relationship your existence has with the universe (others). If you grasp and respect this self-awareness you are empowered beyond measure, as this is the foundation of your identity and your legacy. It can take a lifetime (or three) to comprehend who you are, the meaning of your life, and your purpose. Life is a journey that teaches us lessons that help us know and understand the who, the what, and the Why of our existence. The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho is the perfect example of that search for the self. It’s the story of a young shepherd boy, Santiago, who heads off into the desert in pursuit of his Personal Legend. He finds answers along the way, but only when he listens and is attentive. The better you Know Thyself, the more compelled you will be to travel your authentic journey and the harder it becomes for others to stray you from your path. That’s power. But wait, there’s more! The second step is self-love. If you lack self-love, it’s time to take whatever measures needed to shift that mindset.

Self-love is the foundation of your strength. Self-love leads to self-respect and authenticity. Love yourself enough to believe that you deserve all things good. The more you love yourself, the more you will honor your values. Take time to recognize and acknowledge your values. They define your character, and your character lets the world know the very essence of your being. What is important to you? What makes you happy? What are your standards and expectations? In which direction does your moral compass point? What makes you feel complete or unfulfilled? The truer we are to ourselves, the truer the world will see us and act accordingly. Painful life experiences and toxic encounters can make us doubt ourselves, feel unworthy and turn self-love into shame, guilt and self-loathing. When we lack confidence, we are disarmed and unable to defend our values. When we honor our most authentic selves, we are free and in total control of how others will treat us and how we will feel about ourselves. The third and final step is to set clear boundaries. In other words, know when to say no, and be comfortable with saying no! Know when to walk away and cut your losses if deals are broken. According to multiple studies, the top deal breakers in relationships are: untrustworthiness (lying, cheating, deceit, manipulation), abuse or anger issues, bigotry, poor hygiene (but of course LOL), and selfishness. Don’t allow a friend, partner or boss to undermine you… ever. Always be in a position of power where you can walk away from those who don’t honor you. You deserve a life of bliss, filled with people who are rooting for you, and have your dreams come true. A huge component of setting your boundaries is to not be preoccupied with what others think. We only care what others think because we are dependent on acceptance. And yes, we are social beings who need to fit in; but fitting in doesn’t mean losing or compromising our identity. I’m not condoning cold-hearted selfishness void of empathy, sympathy, and humility in order to be you. Remain humble, kind, and generous. Deep down we know what’s right and when compromise is called for. The reality is we all eat lies when our hearts are hungry for acceptance, whether at home or in the workplace. We give up our power because our boundaries are blurred and susceptible to being breached. The more confident you become the easier it is to be YOU. Some will like you and some won’t. Ultimately, everybody is looking out for himself or herself. You have that right, too. Be strong. Be brave. Be you. You’ve got this.

El tiempo corre rápido, como el agua bajo el puente, hablar de uno de los más conocidos pensadores contemporáneos no es nada fácil pues son muchas las voces que dirán yo soy la voz autorizada. Muchos leímos sus libros, otros, nos pasamos noches enteras haciendo ensayos para nuestros post-grados en ciencias humanas o sociales, pero no solo humanas uno que otro despistado de ingeniería dio por casualidad con uno de los máximos de las letras contemporáneas. Este tipo de escritor es casi único, pues, después de sus 85 años seguía escribiendo, y más allá de lo que uno puede decir es, fue y será un grande. Fue puesto contra las cuerdas hace unos años pues se atrevió a escribir sobre un asunto vetado para los intelectuales. El tema fue el amor, y fue más atrevido y dejó, que recomiendo ampliamente su libro Amor Liquido, su idioma original no sé si es el inglés pues Bauman era Polaco, pero, como a muchos nos ha tocado ver más allá de nuestras fronteras este gran escritor escribía en inglés. Pero no sé si las ediciones originales que casi nunca tenemos acceso el gran público sean en su idioma natal. Si puede ser que sus primeros trazos para sus libros iban siempre en su idioma madre, pero, este gran autor se aventuró con este tema, recomiendo ampliamente Amor líquido, no es un libro fácil de leer para nada, se debe leer y leer una y otra vez. Recuerden que cuando Bauman escribe este libro tenía ya 85 años, aunque murió en los primeros días de enero de este año 2017, pareciera ser demasiado pronto para recordarlo. Pero por qué no hacerlo, porque los Homenajes deben ser Póstumos porque acordamos cuando ya no está con nosotros y ni siquiera sabrán de ese aprecio o ese afecto que profesamos, porque dejamos todo para cuando ya no hay vuelta atrás. Si, como el amor, porque decimos todo lo que sentimos cuando ya no se puede hacer nada de nada, cuando ya no hay marcha atrás y la física infalible de las relaciones se han quebrado irremediablemente, y vamos en caída libre, cuando ya no hay más que decir: que “a Dios”. No es mi costumbre describir, ni contar o criticar, sobre cine o música, o mucho menos sobre maestros de las letras como Bauman solo les dejo la inquietud, si no lo conocen vayan a sus ensayos, fue un gran ensayista, magistral, da un poco de tristeza pues uno debe hacer el deber de leer los libros en su idioma original, pero es muy complicado, pues, como manejar más de un idioma con toda soltura y maestría, es imposible escasamente leemos en nuestro idioma y como es el caso de Bauman pues quedamos a merced de los traductores. Yo uso mucho una frase cuando por algún encargo me veo obligado a realizar, traducciones de Inglés al español. Yo uso una frase en italiano, traduttore – traditore. Que en español es Traductor – Traidor. Es muy cierto, totalmente de acuerdo con esto, cuando, por encargo, o porque se debe pasar de un idioma a otro, los que hemos hecho este ejercicio nos encontramos con una diatriba terrible y es que indefectiblemente metemos las manitos en las traducciones. Ósea que usted señor lector en realidad está leyendo algo que yo creo que se ajusta lo más fiel posible a su versión original. Entonces cuando leemos Amor liquido pues, sobre todo los lectores en Español tenemos que hacer grandes esfuerzos para comprender que es lo que este señor quiso decir, incluso pensamos que está un poco mal la tradición pero, también, hay que entender

que fue una persona con 85 años de experiencias, quien elaboró este ensayo que bebe ser uno de los ensayos más traducidos, pues el solo título, impacta por no decir que desconcierta. ¿Cómo así? Qué: Amor líquido, ¿Cómo eso? Si el amor es el amor. Como dicen los juglares Vallenatos por allá en sur América en Colombia, eso es el Amor Amor… Pues sí, a Bauman se le ocurrió este título perturbador, “Amor liquido”, ¿pero acaso el amor no es para toda la vida? “Esa mujer de caderas que me enloquece” no va estar conmigo en las buenas y en las malas. En la salud y en la enfermedad. Y todo eso que ustedes saben gracias a las novelas, el amor debe, será no para siempre, sino hasta cuando usted y yo nos aguantemos o hasta que alguno de los dos resulte con otro amor. Bien lo saben ustedes todo tiene su final, nada dura para siempre. Un resumen ejecutivo de “Amor liquido”, si, el amor es imposible de retener como el agua entre las manos, es imposible de contener, de detener, de capturar; el amor es libre como el viento como el mar. Pero, eso lo puede leer más en profundidad si consulta ese gran ensayo Amor Liquido. Amor gaseoso también podría decirse. O amor Facebook, en las próximas décadas si Facebook sigue en furor muchos van a decir hasta que Facebook nos separe. Gracias Facebook por destrozar miles de relaciones, miles de matrimonios. Gracias Facebook. Hasta podría ser el título de una telenovela de Telmundo, “Hasta que Facebook nos separe” no faltará la actualización de amor líquido, aunque amor liquido ya fue escrito hace varios años atrás, hasta ahora se estaban sintiendo las Redes Sociales, es una lástima que el Autor del ensayo no hizo, la actualización a 2017 pues, lamentablemente el ciclo de la vida, como todos sabemos llega a su fin. Pero bien puede ser un buen momento para recordar, al gran sociólogo, filosofo, Escritor polaco, podríamos decir ¿por qué dejar para el final? Alguien pensó, es que acaso los grandes de las letras en este caso Bauman podía dejar de existir, y donde están los homenajes, en vida. Es una gran pérdida, hoy recordando, parte de su obra, y una vez más la invitación para que vayan a este texto incluso en Youtube están unas conferencias que el mismo Bauman dejó sobre amor líquido, y es impresionante la visión a futuro de este autor. Tenga mucha paciencia cuando se enfrente a este libro, pues, lo puede perturbar, pues, lo tiene que leer varias veces incluso llegar a Baunman debe tener cierto proceso, entender que, su obra fue más que llegar a las ciencias sociales, o a las ciencias humas, o incluso a la ingeniería. Tenga paciencia cuando este leyendo sus páginas, los escritores no son personas fáciles de entender es más ni ellos mismo se entienden, pero tratan de hacer grandes esfuerzos por desenredar sus pensamientos en las hojas o con letras, muchos incluso, poseen escazas habilidades sociales. Así que vaya despacio, y disfrute de Zygmunt Bauman.

Una historia de “amor”. Capítulo VI: ¿un clavo saca a otro clavo?

There is a very common phrase that says: Like cures like, for taking advantage of that phrase, and tired of Roberto appearing every now and then, I decided to install one of those applications to meet people, one that is called “My half orange,” or something like that. Once the application was installed on my cell phone, I uploaded my profile. I called myself Pamela, since I know it’s not good to give all the real data because you do not really know what kind of crazy people you’ll get in touch with. From putting “X” to each alternative, I finally found one that fit my tastes and seemed reliable. Shortly after giving approval to the individual, I received a message. Between exchanges of greetings and basic information we decided to meet in person. So far, I only knew that he was an architect and amateur photographer - another photographer, NO, PLEASE! The appointment was agreed at a cinema near my house. At the end of the day, Emilio – it was his name - came to the cinema about half an hour before me. When I went up the stairs and entered the cinema area, I saw someone totally different from the one that appeared in the photos published in his “My Half orange” profile, but he seemed to be nice. He was already there, no way to leave without being rude. The first impression I had was of someone who was well-mannered or rather delicate. It was at this very moment that I remembered a phrase that a friend of mine once said to me, “Most architects are rather delicate, never go out with one,” but I preferred to ignore that advice and let things flow. Once in line to buy the tickets, he kindly bought mine and did not let me pay. He bought popcorn and two sodas. The truth, I do not remember which movie we saw. What I do remember is that I had so much in mind the phrase of the “well-mannered architect,” that I did not stop watching his gestures. I was intrigued to confirm or not the veracity of that belief. In the end, I decided not to think about it. If he likes women and is well-mannered, well that’s the way he is. It was nice, but not so much my taste either. After a few more dates, to be exact, six times more, he told me that he liked me and that he wanted to try to have a relationship with me. I had my doubts, not to say a lot, because my heart and mind kept thinking of Roberto, but seeing that the blessed skinny gave no sign of greater interest, I chose to accept Emilio. I cannot deny that he was too attentive, very respectful. But what started to annoy me a little was that he wanted to see me almost daily, and I wanted my space. A space that I am used to having.

Hay una frase muy común que dice: “Un clavo saca a otro clavo”, pues valiéndome de esa frasecita, y cansada de que Roberto aparezca de vez en mes; decidí instalar una de esas aplicaciones para conocer gente, una que se llama “Mi media fruta” o algo así. Una vez instalada la aplicación en mi celular, subí mi perfil. Me puse de nombre Pamela, ya que sé que no es bueno dar todos los datos verdaderos, porque en realidad no se sabe con qué tipo de personas o locos te pondrás en contacto. De tanto poner “X” a cada alternativa, finalmente encontré uno que calzaba con mis gustos y parecía confiable. Al poco rato de darle aprobación al perfil del individuo, me llegó un mensaje. Entre intercambios de saludos e información básica; decidimos conocernos en persona. Hasta el momento solo sabía que él era arquitecto y aficionado a la fotografía – otro fotógrafo más, ¡NO, POR FAVOR! -. La cita se pactó en un cine cerca de mi casa. Llegado el día, Emilio – así se llamaba – llegó al cine como media hora antes que yo. Cuando yo subí las escaleras, y entré al área del cine, vi a alguien totalmente distinto al que salía en las fotos publicadas en su perfil de “Mi media fruta”, pero igual parecía ser agradable. Ya estaba ahí, ni modo de hacerle un desplante. La primera impresión que tuve, fue de alguien algo amanerado o mejor dicho delicado; fue en ese preciso instante que recordé una frase que un amigo ingeniero me dijo una vez: “La mayoría de arquitectos son algo delicados, nunca salgas con uno”, pero preferí hacer caso omiso a ese consejo, y dejar que las cosas fluyan. Una vez en la fila para comprar las entradas, él, amablemente, compró las mías y no dejó que yo pague lo que me correspondía. Compró pop corn y dos refrescos. La verdad, ni recuerdo que película vimos. Lo que sí recuerdo es que tanto tenía en mente la frase esa del “arquitecto amanerado”, que yo no dejaba de observar sus ademanes. Me intrigaba confirmar o no la veracidad de esa creencia. Al final, decidí no darle vueltas al asunto; si le gustan las mujeres y es amanerado, pues así es y ya. Era simpático, pero tan de mi gusto tampoco. Luego de unas cuantas salidas más, para ser exactos digamos que seis veces más; él me dijo que yo le gustaba y que quería intentar tener una relación de pareja conmigo. Tenía mis dudas, por no decir hartas; pues mi corazón y mente no dejaban de pensar en Roberto, pero al ver que el bendito flaco no daba señales de mayor interés, opté por aceptar a Emilio. No puedo negar que era demasiado

Emilio added my friends to his Facebook. I no longer had privacy, horror! The boy was already invading my life very fast. I will not deny that he kissed well, but I did not feel that affinity I needed to continue with him. The drop that overflowed the glass was when after a couple of weeks, he told me that he loved me. I, as you will understand, was not on the same frequency, and I did not feel the same but my mistake was to say to him “me too” because it gave me some nostalgia to see his face with the sadness and uncertain expression when I did not respond in the same way. I was being empathetic since I had already passed this situation with Roberto and, for sure, I did not want Emilio to feel that from me. I did not want to be “Roberta” and he “Antonello”, ha ha ha! Three weeks passed and I was still frightened by the feeling that came from him. He introduced me to his mother at a lunch he coordinated on a weekday. I went, I had nothing to fear. Perhaps knowing his mother, the doubts were going to fade, but it did not happen that way. On the contrary, in the midst of the pleasant conversation that we were having, she - Emilio’s mother - told him that it was time to introduce me to his grandparents to make it more formal. It was there, at that right moment, when several images appeared in my head: ironing, washing, cooking, crying babies, with my loose scabs and gaining weight. So, without thinking twice, rather, I thought three times, and I decided to end this strange relationship. That is, the only thing I wanted now was to finish this thing that was going too fast and, in short, I was not going to get along with his family, and less with him. I was not totally attracted to his physique and adding to that, his family already wanted him to formalize, which surprised me, because they did not even know me well. Whatever, after the fourth week, I talked to him and told him that I did not love him, that I had never felt that, except that I had told him like a mirror, because I do not want him to feel rejected. Finally, came what I deserved. Emilio told me a few anger and impotence words, which I had caused. Simply by wanting to “like cures like.” By that time, Roberto, remained intact. He was still the only one that I wanted that physical-spiritual contact with. Instead of being freed from a burden, I filled myself with a much more negative one. Now, I was carrying Emilio’s bad feelings. Believe it or not, those negative energies that I provoked in him, they returned as karma to me. So, be careful with hurting people. At the moment, I read a lot of these subjects and I believe that I would never again hurt someone, just to make me feel good. Really, I never knew if that delicacy and well-mannered way to be were for another reason. I will not know either. I never had the courage to ask. After this turbulent month, Roberto let himself be seen, at last he gave signs of life. Of course, I agreed to go out with him again, knowing that a future pain was coming. Women are stubborn, when friends tell us that something is not good, there we are. Impossible to deny the undeniable. I was blinded by that cosmic connection that only Roberto could provoke in me. According to him, the same connection he felt with me. His verbiage was: “When I am with you, I perceive your peace, your tranquility, and your sweetness, all that causes you to kiss and hold you. I could fall asleep next to you for days”. Now, I realize the subliminal message that phrase had. Really, the bottom of the message was, “when I am with you, I feel loved and that’s what I like. I do not love you, but my ego fills up when I feel that you do love me. I could fall asleep by your side for days so that you will pamper me and take care of me, but not for life. “ That’s the way things are, human beings are too complex to understand. We know we are doing something wrong but we always look for excuses to continue with it. Roberto and I continue to have appointments. I, knowing the truth, he thinking that I was just as free and practical as far as feelings were concerned. It will continue in Chapter VII: I keep trying to love.

atento, muy respetuoso; pero lo que empezó a fastidiarme un poco, era que quería verme casi a diario, y yo quería mi espacio. Un espacio al que ya me había acostumbrado tener. Emilio agregó a mis amigas a su facebook; yo ya no tenía privacidad, ¡horror! El muchacho ya estaba invadiendo sumamente rápido mi vida. No voy a negar que besaba bien, pero yo no sentía esa afinidad que se debía tener para continuar con él. La gota que rebalsó el vaso, fue cuando luego de un par de semanas, me dijo que me amaba. Yo, como comprenderán, no estaba en la misma frecuencia, y no sentía lo mismo; pero mi error fue decirle “yo también”, pues me daba algo de nostalgia ver su rostro con la expresión de incertidumbre y tristeza, cuando yo no le respondía de la misma manera. Estaba siendo empática, ya que yo ya había pasado esta situación con Roberto, y a ciencia cierta, no quería que Emilio sintiera eso de parte mía. No quería ser “Roberta” y él “Antonello”, ¡ja, ja, ja! Pasaron tres semanas y yo seguía asustada por el sentimiento que de él provenía. Me presentó a su mamá en un almuerzo que él coordinó, un día de semana. Yo fui, no tenía nada que temer. Quizás conociendo a su madre, las dudas se iban a desvanecer, pero no sucedió así. Al contrario, pues en medio de la conversación amena que estábamos teniendo los tres, ella – la madre de Emilio -, le dijo que ya era hora de presentarme a sus abuelos para que la cosa sea más formal. Fue ahí, justo ahí, cuando en mi cabeza se presentaron una serie de imágenes; yo planchando, yo lavando, yo cocinando, yo cuidando bebés, yo con las greñas sueltas, yo subida de peso; y sin pensarlo dos veces, bueno no, lo pensé tres veces, y decidí acabar con esta relación extraña. Es decir, que lo único que ahora quería era finiquitar esto que estaba yendo demasiado rápido y, que en definitiva, no iba a congeniar con su familia, y menos con él. No me sentía totalmente atraída por su físico, y agregando a eso, su familia ya quería que él formalice, cosa que me sorprendió, porque ni siquiera me conocían bien. En fin, luego de la cuarta semana, hablé con él y le dije que yo no lo amaba, que jamás había sentido eso, solo que se lo había dicho cual espejo, para que él no se sienta rechazado. Finalmente, se vino venir lo que yo me merecía. Emilio me dijo unas cuantas palabras llenas de cólera, impotencia, ira, que yo había causado; simplemente por querer “sacarme un clavo con otro clavo”. Para ese entonces, el clavo llamado Roberto, seguía intacto. Seguía siendo el único con el cual yo quería ese contacto físico-espiritual. En lugar de haberme liberado de una carga, me llené de otra mucho más negativa. Ahora, estaba cargando con los sentimientos nada buenos de Emilio. Crean o no, esas energías negativas que yo provoqué en Emilio, se regresaban cual karma hacia mí. Así que ojo con hacer daño. Actualmente, leo mucho de esos temas y créanme que jamás volvería a dañar a alguien así, únicamente por el hecho de sentirme bien yo. Realmente, nunca supe si esa delicadeza y amaneramiento, eran por otro motivo. Tampoco lo sabré. Nunca tuve el valor de preguntarle. Luego de este mes, algo turbulento, Roberto se dejó ver; por fin dio señales de vida. Como era de suponer, yo, tontita, accedí a salir nuevamente con él; sabiendo que un dolor futuro se veía venir. Las mujeres somos tercas, cuando nos dicen que algo no es para nosotras, ahí estamos. Imposible negar lo innegable; yo estaba cegada por esa conexión cósmica que solamente Roberto podía provocar en mí. Según él, la misma conexión que él sentía conmigo. Su palabrería era: “Cuando estoy contigo, percibo tu paz, tu tranquilidad y tu dulzura, todo eso provoca besarte y abrazarte. Me podría quedar dormido a tu lado por días”. Ahora me doy cuenta del mensaje subliminal que esa frase tenía. Realmente en el fondo el mensaje era: “Cuando estoy contigo me siento amado, y eso me gusta. No te amo, pero mi ego se llena cuando siento que tú sí me amas. Me podría quedar dormido a tu lado por días, para que me mimes y me cuides; pero no para toda la vida”. Así son las cosas, los seres humanos somos demasiados complejos de entender. Sabemos que estamos haciendo algo mal, pero siempre buscamos excusas para continuar con ello. Roberto y yo, continuamos saliendo. Yo, a sabiendas de la verdad; él pensando que yo era igual de libre y práctica en cuanto a sentimientos se trataba. -¡Ya era hora de vernos! Replicaste en tu andar conmigo sin la prisa que sueles tener de costumbre. Te mire de soslayo y con la cara al piso, seguí tus pasos. -¿Sabes lo mucho que te has perdido todo este tiempo a mi lado? Preguntaste sin tanta recriminación y, sin palabras, cobardemente asenté un no con la cabeza. En mis adentros sin confesártelo aún, no cabían tantas emociones que a medio esconder, dejaba escapar por mis ojos y el par de suspiros cortantes que apenas quería dejarlos audibles a ti. -Creo que estoy perdido. Respondí con orgullo. -Y ¿Me has buscado solo para escucharte? Replicaste velozmente. -No sabía a quién buscar, conteste… Y sin tantos rodeos solo dijiste: -yo lo sé y eso es triste… -Perdona pero si alguien conoce perfectamente la vida desordenada que llevo, esa eres tú y por más que quiera darte las explicaciones que mereces por tanto abandono desde la última vez de nuestro encuentro, sé que nada podrá resarcir el tiempo y las escusas que he tenido para no verte pero, cada vez que pienso en verte a los ojos siento miedo de no volver a ser yo de nuevo, me gusta mi vida y la comodidad de mis defectos que no quiero me exijas a cambiar. Ya sé que no lograremos entendernos nunca porque así es esto. Yo soy lo que quiero ser sin ti y tú quieres lograr conmigo algo para lo que no estoy preparado... -Bien- asentaste. Y con la paciencia que admiro de ti y el silencio que solo tú sabes darme mientras hablo, no cuestionaste más mi regreso. -Entonces te escucho. Respondiste pasivamente y el tiempo siguió su curso mientras caminábamos por el lago y el fresco amanecer que solía atraparnos en la llovizna de un día gris en el cielo. A lo lejos vi a un par de chiquillos jugando y la felicidad que emanaba sin forcé de querer mostrarla como he solido hacerlo yo. Me miraste y sin mirarte, me seque las lágrimas que a escasa distancia deje correr por mis mejillas. -No quiero sentir que muero por dentro. Añadí al silencio que embargaba la caminata de ese lunes. -No estas muriendo. Respondiste. - Solo estas pasando por los momentos que son necesarios pasar. Dejaste el trabajo

porque no necesitabas estar más ahí, mejores tareas tenías que hacer antes de seguir en la rutina. - ¿y tus amigos? Siempre te dije que eran unos imbéciles, añadiste riéndote con la hermosa sonrisa que provoca reír contigo. -Ellos no están porque sencillamente no los necesitas. A demás ¿para qué quieres gastar dinero y tiempo en ellos? Pese a que lo hagas, nunca terminaras de satisfacer lo que ellos necesitan y créeme, debes aprender que en el mundo nadie es esencial para nadie, ni siquiera tú para ellos y hay que vivir con eso aunque suene egoísta. Sé que estas triste y que te sientes una mala persona, un mal amigo y sin derechos de exigir a la vida lo que crees merecer, pero sabes cariño, rosaste mi mejilla con tus cálidas manos. ¡Tú vales mucho más de lo que imaginas! Por algo Dios se apiado de tu genética y ¡vualá! Estas aquí respirando… Quizá mañana seas una huella imborrable en este mundo y hasta ese entonces recuerdes este momento. Pero, se aguerrido, hoy y siempre aunque todo vaya en caída libre y, te equivocas en creer que quiero cambiarte, yo solo quiero... guardaste un desolado silencio... ser siempre ese alguien que en momentos como estos, pueda sonreírte y decirte que todo estará bien. -Sé que pocas veces me has querido en tu vida y no te culpo porque se reconocer las muchas veces que te he hecho llorar hasta exprimirte el alma. Pero, a pesar de ello, y con lo mucho que no me necesites en medio de tus triunfos y tus momentos más felices yo siempre estaré ahí para ti cuando lo necesites, para eso somos amigos. ¿No? Me miraste tiernamente y con un suspiro hondo me abrazaste tan fuerte que sentados en esa aislada banca, sentí paz, hasta la última fuerza que me dejo sentir tu amor mientras desaparecías y tus intangibles manos tomaban mi rostro para encontrarlo con el sol radiante que ya se asomaba. Para cuando vi que ya el reloj marcaba las once de la mañana, sonreí ante la magia que puedes hacer cada que vienes cuando te llamo. -Si soledad. Susurre suspirando. Siempre seremos amigos. -¿Quién mejor que tú para entenderme?...

WHAT TO PACK FOR A SAFARI?

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to embark on an experience of a life time! My family and I went to South Africa! When packing for such an amazing trip, I couldn’t help but ponder on what to bring. Was South Africa really like in the movies or a downplayed version where you can let you hair down and not worry about a single care in the world? I knew I had to pack light, the weather was a factor but style, style was a must! Another reason why I had to pack light was because I couldn’t possibly pass up shopping in Cape Town. They have some of the same stores as in the States but the fashion trends are so different and to die for! I knew a couple of safari’s were in the itinerary but I had also planned to explore the town and learn about the different cities I was visiting. My favorite part about visiting South Africa was that there was so much history and so many places to go. As I rumbled through every fashion site, blog, and pin from Pinterest, I put together some cute outfits I thought would work for city and for the games, (that’s how safaris are called) from super casual to over-the-top, so I could be prepared for any activity. I knew that even if I printed out outfits or put together pieces, chances were I would go by the vibe of the environment or how I was feeling. So I brought some key pieces, accessories and one or two night outfits just in case. I want to show you guys a few of my outfits and how I pieced them together for the different places we went, while reusing a lot of them. On a side note most of the safari camps have laundry services so that made it easier to recycle some pieces. On one of the days in Cape Town, our amazing tour guide took us to the mountain side, where the vineyards are and the air is crisp. We had chocolate and wine at Waterford Wine Estate and then we had the opportunity to visit the stunning Delaire Graff Estate for lunch, overviewed by the slopes of the Botmaskop Mountain Peak. A must see place if you have the time!

Hace unas semanas tuve la suerte de embarcarme en una experiencia que recordare toda mi vida! Mi familia y yo fuimos a Sudáfrica! Cuando empacas para un viaje tan increíble, no podes evitar pensar en qué llevar ¿Es Sudáfrica realmente como en las películas o una versión menospreciada en la que una puede dejarse el cabello suelto y no preocuparse por nada? Sabía que tenía que llevar un equipaje ligero, el clima era un factor pero el estilo, estilo era importantísimo! Otra razón por la que quería empacar ligero era porque no podía pasar la oportunidad de hacer compras en ciudad de Cape Town. Tienen algunas de las mismas tiendas que en los Estados Unidos, pero las tendencias de la moda son muy diferentes y para morirse! Son una tentación!!! Sabía que un par de safaris estaban en el itinerario, pero yo también tenía planeado explorar la ciudad y aprender sobre los diferentes pueblitos que estaba visitando. Mi parte favorita de mi visita a Sudáfrica fue que tenia mucha historia y tantos lugares para ir. Mientras buscaba a través de cada sitio en de moda en la internet, blogs y pin de Pinterest, reuní algunos trajes lindos que pensé funcionaría para la ciudad y para los juegos, (así se dicen a los safaris) desde super casual hasta over-thetop (mas elaborados) asíestaría preparada para cualquier actividad. Sabía que incluso si imprimía trajes o conjuntos, lo más probable seria que terminaría cambiando de opinion dependiendo de como me sentiría. Así que me lleve algunas piezas clave, accesorios y uno o dos trajes de noche por si acaso. Quiero mostrarles algunos de mis atuendos y cómo los combiné para los diferentes lugares que fuimos, reutilizando muchos de ellos. En una nota aparte les quería mencionar que la mayoría de los campamentos de safari tienen servicios de lavandería lo que hizo más fácil reciclar algunas piezas. En uno de los días en ciudad de Cape Town, nuestro guía turístico nos llevó a la montaña, donde están los viñedos y el aire es fresco y puro. Probamos chocolate y vino en el Waterford Wine Estate y luego tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar el impresionante Delaire Graff Estate para el almuerzo, con vistas de las laderas del pico de la montaña Botmaskop. Un lugar de visita obligatoria si tienes tiempo!

That day I wore a black floppy hat, leather jacket, an off the shoulder bodysuit, high waisted jeans, and my lace up bootie. The hat came in handy for most of those rainy days in the city as well as the leather jacket. It was easy to wipe off the water droplets from my shoulder (Picture#1)

The diversity in Cape town allowed me to challenge my imagination. On our last day we visited the colorfully quarters! One of my favorites places, not only for the history but the amazing photography opportunities available in each little street. The colorful walls makes you feel so alive and giddy! It’s always been a dream of mine to have pink colored house, so I was a happy girl! That day I decided to go a little out of my comfort zone. I had been wearing my black high waisted denim very frequently, they are comfortable and easy to pair different pieces with, so to change up the look a bit I wore my gingham bell sleeve top and a pair of vans for comfort and I am glad I did as there was a lot of walking that day! To top my outfit I put on my red lipstick. This was one the tops I bought at the Cape Town mall in Zara.

La diversidad en ciudad Cape Town me permitió desafiar mi imaginación. En nuestro último día visitamos la ciudad colorida! Uno de mis lugares favoritos, no sólo por la historia, sino por las increíbles oportunidades de fotografía disponibles en cada pequeña calle. ¡Las paredes coloridas te hacen sentir tan viva y energetica! Siempre ha sido mi sueño tener casa de color rosa, por lo que ahi fui una niña feliz! Ese día decidí ir con un conjunto un poco diferente. Yo había estado usando mi denim de alta cintura negro con mucha frecuencia, son cómodos y fáciles de emparejar con piezas diferentes, así que para cambiar un poco la imagen lo combine con mi gingham de mangas de campana y tenis. Felizmente que lleve mis tenis pues ese día caminamos mucho. Para completar mi estilo me puse mi lápiz labial rojo.

3 morning, then around lunch time, early afternoon it would be fairly warm, and at night it would be chilly again. We have two game drives planned a day which allowed me to change my outfit two or three times a day. In the morning I would cover up a lot more and dress for comfy. My only concerns for the morning drives were being warm and making it easy to drop my pants lol…some of this rides can be long and my bladder didn’t give me much breaks after so many coffee and tea breaks. You know what I mean? (Picture #3) In the afternoon it was easier to dress cute. Layers were so important! Best thing I learn on this trip…Layer up and layer down, depending on the weather. I have to confess that more than once I felt like Margot Robbie in the movie Tarzan, especially when the breeze of fresh air blew through my hair. Really there is nothing like it.... I was definitely channeling that character throughout my time in Mala Mala and Singita. We were so inspired we shoot a couple of pics for our Holiday card! There is never a dull moment with my family, got to love them! The outfit I wore for our photo shoot was my beige fedora hat, a tan bodysuit, a sheer button up tied in the front, I reused my black high waisted jeans again, and my lace up booties. (Picture#4) All together it was a wonderful experience. Nothing you pack or expect can prepare you for South Africa, so go with the flow, get creative and have fun! This was just a taste of the adventures I had during my vacation, I will be posting more about my trip on my blog soon. 4 Cuando llegamos a Mala Mala para nuestro primer Safari, el clima fluctuaba un poco. En la mañana hacia mucho frío, luego alrededor de la hora del almuerzo, temprano por la tarde estaba mas caliente, y por la noche frío de nuevo. Teníamos dos juego planeados cada día lo que me permitió cambiar mis atuendos dos o tres veces al día. Por la mañana me encubriría mucho más y me vestiría cómoda. Mi única preocupación por en la mañana era estar abrigada y poder bajarme los pantalones sin apuro jajajaja ya que algunos de estos paseos pueden ser muy largo y mi vejiga no me dio muchos descansos después de tantas pausas de café y té. Si me entienden? (Foto # 3) Por la tarde era más fácil vestirse linda co con mas estilo. ¡Las capas de ropa fueron muy importantes! Lo mejor que aprendí en este viaje fue ... Capasde ropa encima y capasde ropa abajo, dependiendo del clima. Tengo que confesar que más de una vez me sentí como Margot Robbie en la película de Tarzán, especialmente cuando sentía la brisa de aire fresco hacer volar a mi pelo. Realmente no hay nada como esa sensación de liberta ... Definitivamente estaba canalizando ese personaje todo el tiempo que estuve en Mala Mala y Singita. Estábamos tan inspirados con la naturaleza que decidimos tomarnos un par de fotos para nuestra tarjeta de Navidad! ¡Nunca hay un momento aburrido con mi familia, los amo! El traje que usé para nuestra sesión de fotos fue: mi boina de color beige, una maya enteriza beige, un blusa transparente amarrada en la cintura, volví a usar mis pantalones vaqueros de talla alta negros y mis botines de pasadores. (Foto # 4) Todos el viaje fue una experiencia maravillosa. Nada que puedas embalar o que puedas esperar de Sudáfrica se compara con la realidad, así que déjense llevar, sean creativos y diviértanse! Esto fue sólo una muestra de las aventuras que tuve durante mis vacaciones, voy a publicar más sobre mi viaje en mi blog pronto. Mi Curso de capacitación profesional en “Training Course on Food Processing and Preservation Technology for Developing Countries”, gracias a la Oficina Comercial Chino Panameña y al Colegio de Periodistas de Panamá. Un grupo de aproximadamente de 74 personas de diferentes países como Panamá, Afganistán, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Dominica, Granada y una gran mayoría de África como Mozambique, South Sudan, Camerún entre otros estuvimos participando en el curso completamente en el idioma inglés del 14 de junio hasta el 11 de julio. La oportunidad para mí ha sido única e inigualable, es la primera vez que viajaba tan lejos porque ni siquiera conozco Europa, hicimos escala en Ámsterdam luego de 10 horas de vuelo desde el aeropuerto de Tocumen hasta ese país, luego 10 horas más hasta Beijing en China. El cambio de horario entre Panamá y Ámsterdam es de 7 horas de diferencia y en China son 13 horas, en Panamá usted está despertando y en China casi anochece, (allí anochece a las 8:30p.m., amanece a las 4:00a.m.) en Panamá un cambio drástico. Fue una jornada agotadora a penas llegamos sin descanso iniciamos el curso, después esa misma semana nos trasladamos a seguir el mismo en provincias en China como Hangzhou (6 horas en el famoso tren bala a 305km por hora que ni se sienten) y Shanghái (2 horas en tren bala) para conocer el desarrollo y manejo de empresas de procesamiento de alimentos como quesos, vino, granos, aceites, especias, lácteos, productos de origen animal, entre otros. La experiencia fue increíble, pude ver que Panamá es un país con muchas ventajas en el sector alimenticio, el clima es favorable y contamos con frutas, vegetales casi todo el año, con agua potable y aún podemos tomarla del grifo sin problema, en China es prohibido tomar agua del grifo, el agua se toma embotellada o hervida, uno pide un vaso con agua y se la dan caliente, y ni se le ocurra pedir algo con hielo porque eso es una misión imposible ni sueñe una Coca Cola con hielo porque todas las gaseosas y bebidas se toman a temperatura ambiente a menos que las compre en el mismo lugar y se lo tome de una vez.

Algo que me llamó la atención es que hay una ley que prohíbe desperdiciar el agua por ende en China no existen lava autos y es difícil ver un auto limpio, hasta los de lujo los llenos de polvo, si va a lavarlo debe hacerlo con permiso y usar la menor cantidad de agua posible, no hay lavanderias como en Panamá, allá llevas la ropa al lugar ellos te cobran por lavar cierta cantidad de piezas, lavan, secan y planchan por unos 120 a 150 yuanes entre unos 15 a 23 dólares, en Panamá por un dólar usted lava y por 1.25 usa la secadora, en China las cosas son muy controladas por la cantidad de personas en el país más poblado del mundo, con más de 1300 millones de habitantes. El curso en su totalidad se desarrolló en Beijing con clases teóricas sobre el tema de alimentación y preservación de los alimentos pero se incluyó como explique visitas a otras provincias, nuestra ciudad principal fue Beijing, su población aproximada unos 21.5 millones habitantes, luego fuimos a Hanzoug con 9.188 millones y Shangai 24.15 millones muchas más personas que en la misma capital. Una vez culminaban las extensas giras como parte del curso también se visitó lugares turísticos como el Museo del Té y una Granja de Tecnología el Zhenjiang Providence Agriculture Hightech Demostrate Park donde pudimos conocer cómo se cultivan vegetales, y se ve el proceso de siembra de algunas plantas, flores, vegetales su conservación, su preservación. La primera provincia que visitamos como parte de las clase teóricas/practicas fue Hangzhou es la capital y la ciudad más grande de la provincia de Zhejiang en la República Popular China, a mí en lo personal me encantó esa provincia, su gente, sus calles, su trato fue genial. Visitamos la fábrica Hangzhou Weiquan Food especialista en lácteos, jugos y yogurt, Wahaha Group una compañía de bebidas más grande de China, llamo nuestra atención sobre todo por la explicación de la maquinaria o zona de procesamiento ubicada allí mismo que permite ver de primera mano hasta como se elabora el envase de los productos.

Estuvimos también aunque con una intensa lluvia al China Wet Land Museum un majestuoso complejo tipo resort de la cadena de Hoteles Sheraton, hermosos paisajes, mucho verdor, allí conocimos dentro del museo países con su historia, el museo está situado al lado del Parque Nacional Xixi de Humedales de Hangzhou, pudimos ver un centro de negocios con paisajes perfectos. Como es el edificio emblemático del parque nacional de humedales de Xixi, el complejo principal del edificio del museo está enteramente cubierto en verde y se mezcla perfectamente en las montañas artificiales circundantes para complementar su ambiente. En Hangzhou estuvimos como unos cuatro días, de allí rumbo a Shanghái, la ciudad considerada como un destino turístico por excelencia por sus monumentos como el Bund, el Templo del Dios de la Ciudad, los rascacielos del Pudong y como centro cosmopolita de la cultura y el diseño, es una de las cuatro municipalidades de la República Popular China administradas directamente por el gobierno central del país, allí visitamos la fábrica Qingmei Food, Tamy Food empresa líder en productos hechos a base de soya sobre todo los lácteos, Jiali Food Industry productos alimenticios especializados en condimentos y especies, Yihay Kerry Oils and Grains. Shanghái posee una maravillosa vista desde cualquier ángulo, sus paisajes, su centro de compras muy conocido, la calle comercial peatonal Nanjing donde a bajo costo encuentras la copia carbón de carteras, bolígrafos, relojes y hasta maletines de reconocidas marcas a precios accesibles que el original seria impagable. La visita al centro bancario y la emblemática ciudad de las luces atrae cada día a miles de turistas de diferentes partes del mundo que no dejan pasar la oportunidad de apreciar en un viaje en un bote cargado de luces (imagine un Fantasía del Mar de Panamá) con luces, bar a bordo paseando por el río que permite tomar fotos y filmar videos de tan majestuosa vista, visitar su centro financiero deja a cualquiera sin palabras. El clima subtropical húmedo no impidió que siguiéramos la visita a las fábricas, allí conocimos Yili Dairy Bread una empresa que ofrece un pan delicioso y es fábrica de

chocolates y de la famosa gaseosa Polar, fue una experiencia única, de casi 8 días de una jornada intensa de visitas y aprendizaje. Baños en el suelo, prohibido ofrecer una propina a nadie, no se paga impuesto sino lo exacto, respeto a los ciclistas, allá hay bicicletas por todos lados, usted como no es residente no puede tomar una porque se debe ingresar un código de barra a través de su celular se registra el código a la bicicleta que se desbloquea y la toma por una hora a un yuan (15 centavos), nadie se roba nada, mucho respeto y honestidad por parte de los chinos. El sistema de transporte es envidiable, tren bala, tren común, monorriel, metro bus, 15 líneas de metro, bus, taxi y por supuesto aquel que puede tiene su vehículo, yo calcule que la velocidad normal a la que iba un auto era de 60 a 70km por hora, allá los bebes van en las motos con sus padres, nadie usa casco, me llamo la atención que los espacios para estacionar la moto o bicicleta es respetado y está bien señalizado, cebras pintadas, semáforos con tiempo y nadie cruza sino está en verde, que manera de respetar las señales de tránsito, los taxis con medidor, te entregan tu tiquete al finalizar la carrera, la verdad un país que no me alcanzaría el tiempo para escribir lo mucho que vi de China. Me llamo mucho la atención ver un país altamente contaminado pero predomina su arborización a lo largo de las vías y la creatividad pues les dan forma a los árboles para que se vean atractivos. Al regreso a Beijing tuvimos la oportunidad de aprender con expertos graduados de prestigiosas universidades de China y otras partes del mundo temas como el proceso y elaboración del pan, del queso, el arte del vino, el proceso y elaboración de productos de soya y también el proceso de cortado y la tecnología de los vegetales frescos y la preservación de los mismos y una experiencia maravillosa aprender lo básico a escribir en mandarín y el corte de papel para realizar hermosos detalles en papel. Hubo visitas turísticas para conocer las diferentes ciudades y lugares emblemáticos que quedaran no solo en mi memoria sino en la de todos mis compañeros del curso, un examen final una ceremonia de clausura muy emotiva y nuestro regreso a Panamá con mil historias, anécdotas y agradecimiento a aquellos que hicieron posible que pudiera ir a este maravilloso país, la experiencia sorprendente.

Proposed trails are located along the eight-mile 215 beltway and along ﬂood control channels in Summerlin and are designed for multiple non-motorized uses. Regional trails are being constructed as a public/private partnership of Clark County and the City of Las Vegas in cooperation with The Howard Hughes Corporation.

The question is: do you know when you need professional help? Sometimes, it is simple to realize that when you are dealing with a lot of people, your time is limited and there are many details to coordinate. You surely need help. When you are hosting a social event like a birthday party, a wedding, a baby shower, etc., you probably would like to be part of the planning and development of the event. Your personal touch is important to you, as is your available time and how comfortable you feel handling everything in order to have a wonderful event. However, in the business world, an event needs to be handled with a clear objective, a budget, and a specific time frame. To accomplish these 3 elements, the selection of a competent professional is important for the success of the event. Some of the skills an event planner should have are: communication, organization, time management, social and teamwork abilities, and to be creative, detail oriented, and patient. The list can go on and on when describing a role model and leader. On the other hand, a MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) specialist must have a broad cultural knowledge, speak different languages and have the flexibility to learn and understand while working on a large scale event dealing with people from different backgrounds.

There are 2 distinct characteristics needed to fulfill this career, one is to be a problem solver. In the event industry, you can have everything planned, but unexpected things can happen and the planner should be able to make decisions and resolve issues. Even though we must have our risk plan ready, minor situations can change the agenda and create negative consequences. Problem solving allows us to work under pressure, the second characteristic needed to be a good event planner. These two skills work together because if we know how to manage stress, we can analyze the best options in a critical moment. Remember that when everything is running smoothly and on time everybody is happy. The challenge will be to overcome a problem, fix it, and continue with the show. So, make sure you hire a professional to help you to deal with unpredictable situations. This can be a rewarding career for those who enjoy working around people, learning new things, and exploring ideas and ways to do your work more effectively.

1. STAY AT THE SITE Never leave the scene of an accident unless a medical emergency requires you to. Usually it is preferable to wait for an ambulance or qualified medical people to arrive. You should stay in place until you give your full name and address to a police officer, or at least to the other driver. You should not leave the scene of an accident in which you have been involved, as it may lead to criminal charges. 2. HELP Call 911 if necessary to report where the accident happened, and whether or not people were injured. This way, the appropriate emergency responders can be called. 3. ATTEND TO OTHERS Take care of the medical needs of others if you can. Do not move anyone unless it is necessary to avoid more serious injuries. Only take basic emergency measures involving bleeding and breathing if you are qualified to provide such assistance. 4. NOTIFY OTHERS Take immediate action to prevent further injury. First, advise other drivers of the accident and second, move the vehicles, but only if this is necessary. If you cannot do it due to your injuries, or because you are helping others, ask someone to signal other vehicles from a safe position. Use light signals, reflectors or even car lights, particularly at night. 5. REPORT THE ACCIDENT Provide a responding police officer with your full name, address, and other identifying information and show your driver’s license and insurance card. That is all there is to do in most cases, although depending on the situation, it may be convenient to detail the accident and any injuries. Never admit guilt over the accident to the police or talk about the case with anyone else. Even a simple statement of “Sorry” can be interpreted as an admission of guilt. Do not sign any paper at the scene of the accident, except those promising to go to court if you are issued a subpoena. 6. GET ACCIDENT INFORMATION Apart from that basic information, you should write down a detailed description of how the accident happened, so that you can refer to it later if you forget some details. Pay attention to what each driver did wrong and also include a map of the crash site detailing the direction of the vehicles before the crash and their positions after impact. Take pictures of the place, vehicles and people involved. 7. TOW DAMAGED VEHICLES If your car can not be driven, you will have to have it moved. The police will normally call a tow truck, but it is your responsibility to pay for this service. Check with your towing company for the cost and ask the driver where your car will be. Never sell your vehicle if you are considering a personal injury claim. 9. DOCTOR See a doctor as soon as possible if you have any minor physical discomfort. The longer you spend between the accident and medical care, the less chance your physician will make a connection between the accident and your complaints. If you still experience symptoms despite receiving medical treatment, it may be necessary to see a medical specialist. 10. CALL AN ATTORNEY Call your lawyer, Victor Cardoza before talking to anyone else about the accident. He will answer all your questions, and give you valuable information at your first free legal consultation. Otherwise, you may lose important evidence, there may be unnecessary admissions, or the insurer may put you in a tough negotiating position. 11. DON’T PAY ANYTHING Do not pay anything unless your lawyer tells you to. A payment can be interpreted as an admission of guilt, and without receiving a waiver of return rights document; it will not relieve you of your legal liability.

AVISE A OTROS Tome medidas inmediatas para evitar otras lesiones. Primero avise a otros conductores del accidente y segundo, mueva los vehículos, pero solamente si esto resulta necesario. Si usted no puede hacerlo por sus lesiones o porque está ayudando a terceros, pida a alguien que haga señales a otros vehículos desde una posicion segura. Utilice señales luminosas, reflectores o inclusive las luces del auto, particularmente si es de noche. 5. REPORTE EL ACCIDENTE Facilitele al oficial de policía su nombre y apellidos completos, dirección, y otros datos de identificación, y muéstrele su licencia de manejo y tarjeta de seguro. Eso es todo lo que hay que hacer en la mayoría de los casos, aunque dependiendo de la situacion puede que sea conveniente detallarle el accidente y cualquier lesión. Nunca admita culpa por el accidente a la policía ni hable sobre el caso con nadie más. Hasta una declaración sencilla de “Lo siento” puede interpretarse como admisión de culpa. No firme ningún papel en el lugar del accidente, salvo la promesa de ir a la corte si se le emite una citación. 6. OBTENGA INFORMACIÓN SOBRE EL ACCIDENTE Aparte de esa información básica, debería de apuntar una descripcón detallada de como sucedió el accidente en la que puede apoyarse luego si se le olvidan algunos detalles. Preste atención a lo que hizo mal cada conductor, además incluya un mapa del lugar del accidente detallando la dirección de los vehículos antes del choque y sus posiciones después del impacto. Saque fotos del lugar, los vehículos y la gente, o pida que alguien se las saque. 7. REMOLQUE LOS VEHÍCULOS DAÑADOS Si su auto no se puede conducir, hay que moverlo a otro lugar. La policía normalmente llamará a una grúa pero es responsabilidad suya pagar por este servicio. Infórmese con la compañía de grúa el costo, y pregunte al conductor a donde llevará su auto. Nunca venda su vehiculo si usted está considerando un reclamo por daños personales. 9. VAYA CON UN MÉDICO Vaya a un médico lo antes posible si tiene alguna molestia física por menor que sea. If you are feeling dissatisfied at work or in your current career path, then you’re not alone. Americans today are thinking more and more about how they can pursue professional development and education to open doors to more satisfying career options. In fact, only one-third of working adults in the U.S. say they are very satisfied with their current professional position and just two in five are very satisfied with their current level of education, according to a survey by University of Phoenix. As a solution to help increase employee satisfaction, some companies are offering career development programs. These include tuition reimbursement, on-site training and professional development seminars, among others. Despite these efforts, the survey found that employees lack confidence in their employer’s offerings and the majority see higher education as the best route to greater career enhancement and satisfaction. While higher education can lead to improved career fulfillment and satisfaction, a number of obstacles can stand in the way: a full-time career, a family, intimidation or a lack of experience with current technology, to name a few. Online degrees can provide flexibility to help navigate hectic schedules, but individuals who are unprepared to return to school could ultimately decrease educational outcomes rather than enhance them. Before committing to years of education, it may be best to sample courses in a degree program to determine if it is the correct path for you. This can be done through shorter professional development offerings, such as certificate programs and workshops, which allow individuals to learn skills in shorter, more concentrated timelines. Unlike degree programs, these pathways provide opportunities to quickly augment a skillset without dedicating years to education. The competencies learned in these programs can provide an education foundation that can then be parlayed into a higher education degree in the future. At University of Phoenix, we see this aspect of professional development as a piece to the larger puzzle that is the future of education. Of course, higher education degrees will continue to exist and play a large role at the University, but today’s workers are seeking more convenient and timesensitive avenues for career enhancement. Hurricane Irma is barrelling across the Carribbean into Florida as a record-setting Category 5 storm just after Harvey hit and drenched Texas and Louisiana. Scientists warn that with global warming, there will be many more such storms in the future. Economists estimate the losses will top several billions of dollars and recovery will depend on the strength of the pre-existing economy. The destruction and recovery from the two storms will strain even the closest-knit communities, magnifying social and economic inequities.

DISASTER AFFECTS MANY – BUT INEQUITABLY “One of the things that must be kept in mind is that environmental disasters like hurricanes and floods really don’t affect people in identical ways. If you looked at the news coverage of Harvey, for example, you tended to see more people of color, and the reason for that is they are less likely have the financial resources to deal with something like this. For example, they are less likely to have flood insurance, and they are less likely to be able to evacuate to unaffected areas. They have fewer resources to rebuild in their own neighborhoods. These disasters are as much a social justice issue as they are an environmental issue. “People who already are experiencing mental and behavioral health problems or who experienced similar disasters like Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Rita or Hurricane Katrina are at an increased risk for traumatic symptoms, depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. In Louisiana, Vietnamese fishermen were particularly affected by Katrina in 2005 because they had gone through the trauma of the war in Vietnam. Children will exhibit more disruptive behaviors in school and at home. Older adults who are less mobile are also particularly vulnerable. So, not everyone is affected equally. Whether it pertains to race or ethnicity or socioeconomic status, we as individuals and as communities possess a number of characteristics and experiences that determine how vulnerable or how resilient we might be during and after a disaster. Lawrence Palinkas is an expert on mental health aspects of natural and manmade disasters, extreme evironments and situations. Palinkas is a professor of social policy and health, preventive medicine and anthropology at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, and he is a co-leader for the “Grand Challenges Initiative” by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare. PREPAREDNESS SHOULD INCLUDE URBAN DEVELOPMENT “These catastrophes are too often understood only as ‘natural disasters,’ which implies that we are powerless in the face of the magnitude of the event. In fact, they are human-natural disasters. We need to focus on how we have become more vulnerable to them. In the case of Hurricane Harvey, critical attention should focus on the process of urban development in flood-prone areas, as well as the failure to account for climate change in calculating the likelihood of a catastrophic storm. “Political response too often focuses only on the short term: rescuing survivors, providing aid in recovery. These are, of course, important. However, preparedness for these kinds of disasters requires a longer term reflection on mitigating vulnerabilities again, this includes how we build in cities, but also dealing frankly with the increasing climate risks we continue to generate.” Andrew Lakoff is an expert on the politics of disaster response. BIGGER STORMS MEAN MORE RAIN - THE REAL THREAT “Harvey and Irma are the kinds of storms that we expect more of as the globe warms under the influence fossil fuel burning. While there has always been – and will always be – weather, the emerging science of weather attribution suggests that this kind of event is more likely as a result of human activities. The reason is that a warmer atmosphere can hold more moisture, which is released by storms in a violent manner, overcoming the capacity of natural and man-made land surfaces to absorb the rain; the result is flooding of historic proportions. With Harvey’s financial impacts already estimated upwards of $40billion, it’s hard to argue, as the current EPA leadership has, that there is no social cost to carbon emissions. Even as the government refuses to acknowledge this fact, the insurance industry does.” “Harvey also highlights that wind isn’t always the greatest threat a hurricane brings. True, storm categorizations are made on the basis of wind speeds – or equivalently, central pressure. By this account, Harvey briefly reached the strength of a Category 4 hurricane, but its biggest damage occurred a few days later, while it was Category 2 or 1, and it was from the rain that fell over the Houston area, which shattering records for how much water fell in single storm. The rain damage continued over Louisiana, though Harvey barely registered as a tropical depression. It’s an important reminder that, destructive though winds can be, the largest damage due to tropical cyclones is actually water-related: either rainwater falling from the sky or seawater surging inland; often both.” Julien Emile-Geay is an expert in climate science and global warming whose recent work included an update to a global database tracking the earth’s increasing temperatures since 1 A.D. It has been an eventful week for the NHL’s newest team. On Wednesday, the Las Vegas Golden Knights (VGK) concluded their rookie training camp with a victory over the Los Angeles Kings’ rookie team. The official training facility of the VGK, City National Arena, is ready to host training camp beginning next Friday, September 15th. The first practice open to the public is Monday, September 18th, at 11 am, in the new facility which is located at 1550 S. Pavilion Center Drive in Downtown Summerlin. The training camp roster includes 14 NHL veteran forwards, 8 NHL veteran defenseman, and features all-star and 3-time Stanley Cup champion goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. The VGK have only seven preseason games to prepare for their inaugural NHL season, the first of which is in Vancouver on September 17th. As the VGK look toward the season opener on October 6th at Dallas, they have some significant decisions that must be made. For example, while the team has 4 veteran wingers with experience scoring goals in the NHL, they do not have a veteran Center to set up the goal scorers. They also need to decide which of the eight veteran defenseman will make the 20-man roster for the season opener. The next three weeks will definitely be exciting to watch as the VGK have their training camp, play seven preseason games, set their 20-man roster, set their lines, select a captain and alternate captains, all leading up to their first NHL regular season game on October 6 in Dallas against the Stars.

Conor McGregor empezó con el pie derecho dictando la acción de Showtime con un boxeo medio raro pero bien ordenado, hasta se dio el lujo de contragolpear a Mayweather quien diría más tarde que ese fue el plan a seguir desde el principio, dejarlo que se emocionara y cuando estuviera agobiado hacerle pagar hasta las que no debía. Pero las cosas parecían complicársele a Mayweather que cambiaba de postura que se acurrucaba en una esquina neutral donde corno le pegaba a sus anchas y esa fue la historia de los tres primeros asaltos donde el Irlandés debutando en el boxeo se daba el lujo de hasta darle coscorrones al catalogado como el mejor de todos los tiempos. Todo parecía estarle funcionando a McGregor y Mayweather al parecer no le detectaba la punta del estilo para poner autoridad de una vez por todas y los papeles se empezaron a intercambiar al ver que Mayweather afinaba su puntería para aminorar el ímpetu de su rival, que con su extraño estilo de combate solo le falto darle de nalgadas a Mayweather y yo creo que ganas no le faltaron porque hubo un momento que si le asesto un golpe más al sur de la tolerancia y al ver Floyd que el referí puso oídos sordos le pago con la misma moneda y de pilo le daba con el antebrazo. El asunto es que Mayweather no se cansa y si no le aguantan el ritmo se les acaba el corrido y tan tan. McGregor tuvo la intensión de darle a Mayweather un buen costalazo y hasta recurrió al abrazo del oso pero se miraba sin más gas sin opciones a retornar con nuevos bríos el referí se interpuso y sanseacabó en el décimo asalto. Mayweather dijo que sabía que después de los 25 minutos

que está acostumbrado McGregor a durar en el UFC se pondría flojo y como diría Juan Gabriel, así fue. Mayweather aparte de sus $100 millones se fajo el cinturón del Dinero diseñado con esmeraldas, zafiro y oro especialmente para esta ocasión y todo quedo como se dijo durante toda la promoción ¡dinero, dinero y dinero! Esa misma noche del 26 de agosto pero en Los Angeles Miguel Cotto estelarizo la velada de HBO en pelea de título superwelter OMB ante Yoshihiro Kamegai que resultó ser un verdadero Kamakase, que fue motivo de granizada sin tregua pero no se achicopalo y duro las 12 rondas. El boricua se fue espectacular con su plan de atacar y desaparecer en el acto, dejando sin brújula al japonés quien se pegaba como sanguijuela apresuraba el paso para entrar en la zona donde las guantadas estaban al por mayoreo. Todo dio fin como en un principio Kamegai en vez de pedir paz apuraba el paso para recibir más guantadas y Cotto como todo un guerrero lo complació hasta el último tlin tlin. Ahora a esperar Canelo-GGG el 16 de septiembre.
