The time is getting shorter, life is faster and attention is scarce. The cellphones, the television and videogames threat one of the most important and enriching exercises of human beings, the habit of reading. A hectic life has typecast us in a form of virtual communication and messages like ads. The expression is limited to pictures. Detailed words and conscience – those words with diligence of other times – are disappearing. In some form this means to go back to the last period before writing, the era of hieroglyphics. These days the attention to written language is centered in the news of the press, short mails, or emoticons of WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook or email. Each time there are less cards written with dedication and less books read, with the exception of some imposed by the academy or by the job. The new generations are being digitalized between articles of technology, with sublanguages each time more coded and short. The classic child tales are in way of extinction, as are master pieces of literature in ink and paper. We’re not only losing the written memory of humanity but also one of the fundamental activities of mental development. Reading is understanding and understanding implies to predict, infer, categorize, analyze, synthetize and imagine. The text allows to experiment all the senses with the direct exposure of stimuli. It opens the possibility to have a vision of the world. Reading is flying between strokes of knowledge and dreaming awake. Is living a story or topic with the possibility of fulfilling with our own imaginary space. The tales, novels, poetry, essays, and magazine articles constitute the human interpretation of the universe are windows to knowledge, fantasy and pleasure. Reading is one of those activities that differentiate us from other alive beings. It’s the way through man begin receiving formal knowledge, nothing less than the process we call education. I don’t propose to stop or critic technology. It goes without saying all the virtues that virtual communication bring us. I just pretend to recover the interest of written word with time and conscience, both for good mental development as for pleasure. It’s the duty of parents and teachers to encourage reading in kids. Further from school obligations, is about teaching them to enjoy, so that they don’t relate reading with work or something boring. It’s necessary to motivate them with ludic and fun topics, arouse their curiosity and the interest for letters. Tales are, for example, the ideal way to introduce the

La vida agitada nos ha ido encasillando en una forma de comunicación virtual y de mensajes tipo anuncios publicitarios. La expresión se limita a imágenes. Ya las palabras detalladas y a conciencia -aquellas cartas con diligencias de otros tiempos- van desapareciendo. En cierta forma esto significa devolverse al periodo anterior a la escritura, a la era de los jeroglíficos. Hoy en día la atención al lenguaje escrito está centrada en noticias de prensa, correos cortos o emoticones de WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook o email. Cada vez hay menos cartas escritas con dedicación y menos libros leídos, salvo por algunos impuestos por la academia o por el trabajo. Las nuevas generaciones se están digitalizando entre artilugios de la tecnología, con sublenguajes cada vez más codificados y escuetos. Los cuentos infantiles clásicos están en vía de extinción, así como las obras maestras de la literatura en tinta y papel. No solo estamos perdiendo la memoria escrita de la humanidad sino también una de las actividades fundamentales para el desarrollo mental. Leer es comprender y comprender implica predecir, inferir, categorizar, analizar, sintetizar e imaginar. El texto permite experimentar todos los sentidos sin la exposición directa a los estímulos. Nos abre la posibilidad de tener una visión del mundo. Leer es volar entre los trazos del conocimiento y soñar despierto. Es vivir una historia o un tema con la posibilidad de completarlo con nuestro propio espacio imaginario. Los cuentos, las novelas, la poesía, los ensayos y los artículos de revistas constituyen la interpretación humana del universo. Son ventanas al conocimiento, a la fantasía y al placer. Leer es una de aquellas actividades que nos diferencian de otros seres vivos. Es la manera mediante la cual el hombre comienza a recibir el conocimiento formal, nada menos que el proceso que llamamos educación. No propongo frenar ni hacer critica de la tecnología. Sobra decir todas las bondades que nos trae la facilidad de la comunicación virtual. Solo pretendo que recuperemos el interés por la palabra escrita con tiempo y a conciencia, tanto por el buen desarrollo mental como por el placer. Es un deber de padres y maestros volver a incentivar la lectura en los niños. Mas allá de la obligación escolar,

young public to the world of books; they can be classics or modern ones, the subject of preference according to the individual, about the movies of the moment, of cartoons, of superheroes or a thousand topics with which they can identify and empathize. Maybe later they’ll be interested by novels, historical books and scientific essays. The children that read will understand the world better, the reality, its time and space. They will be better human beings. They will learn to differ between god and evil. They will reach a logical thinking. It will be easier for them to access scientific topics and appreciate literature. They will understand a little more about life, death and love; the forces that move the existence. The reading children will have imagination, creativity, memory, analysis capacity, adaptation to the environment, and likewise, will be a little happier. They will be men with reflective capabilities, and reflective men will form better societies.

Los cuentos, por ejemplo, son una manera idónea para introducir al público infantil al mundo de los libros; pueden ser clásicos o modernos, de los temas de preferencia según el individuo, sobre las películas del momento, de los dibujos animados, de superhéroes o mil temas con los cuales ellos logren identificarse y empatizar. Más adelante quizá se interesen por novelas, libros históricos y ensayos científicos. Los niños que lean entenderán mejor el mundo, la realidad, su tiempo y espacio. Serán mejores seres humanos. Aprenderán a discernir entre el bien y el mal. Alcanzaran un pensamiento lógico. Se les facilitará acceder a los temas científicos y apreciaran la literatura. Comprenderán un poco más sobre la vida, la muerte y el amor; las fuerzas que mueven la existencia. Los niños lectores tendrán imaginación, creatividad, memoria, capacidad de análisis, adaptación al entorno, y así mismo, serán un poco más felices. Serán hombres con capacidad de reflexión, y hombres reflexivos conformarán mejores sociedades.

Once wrote the great Peruvian poet, who we commemorate this year the 125 years from his birth in his home city Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad, in March 16th 1892.

Escribió alguna vez el gran poeta peruano, de quien este año se conmemoran 125 años de su nacimiento en su natal Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad, un 16 de marzo de 1892.

Cesar Abraham Vallejo Mendoza, is considered the maximum exponent of Peruvian poetry and at the same time, is considered by many, as one of the big innovators of the XX century.

César Abraham Vallejo Mendoza, es considerado el máximo exponente de la poesía peruana y a su vez, considerado por muchos, como uno de los grandes innovadores del siglo XX.

His works ‘Los heraldos negros’ (1918) and ‘Trilce’ (1922) published in Lima were avant-garde of his time and deep in a personal sense. In 1923 published ‘Escalas’ his narrative work and during that year he left to Europe to never return to his homeland. In the old continent he lived in Paris; although he was in Madrid and other cities, he worked as a journalist and teacher. During the last stage of his life he didn’t publish poetry; but poems of him are known that came out after his death. He published works in prose, books like ‘El tungsteno’, ‘Crónicas en Rusia’ (both in 1931) and his, very famous tale ‘Paco Yunque’ that would come to light posthumously. His poetic works were titled ‘Poemas humanos’ and ‘España, aparta de mí este cáliz’, of a social cut and published after his death for his loved wife Georgette Vallejo. For many in the world, said poems lead to obtain the qualifier of “Universal Poet” As in which he is usually known over there.

Sus obras ‘Los heraldos negros’ (1918) y ‘Trilce’ (1922) publicadas en Lima fueron vanguardistas para su época y profundas en el sentido personal. En 1923 publicó ‘Escalas’ su obra narrativa y durante ese año partió a Europa para no retornar a su patria. En el viejo continente vivió en París; aunque estuvo en Madrid y otras ciudades, trabajo como periodista y docente. Durante su última etapa de vida no publicó poesía; pero se le conocen poemas que salieron a relucir después de su muerte. Sí publicó obras en prosa, libros como ‘El tungsteno’, ‘Crónicas en Rusia’ (ambas en 1931) y su, muy famoso cuento ‘Paco Yunque’ que saldría a la luz póstumamente. Sus trabajos poéticos fueron titulados ‘Poemas humanos’ y ‘España, aparta de mí este cáliz’, de corte social y publicados tras su defunción por su amada esposa Georgette Vallejo. Para muchos en el mundo, dichos poemas lo llevaron a obtener el calificativo de ‘Poeta universal’ como en el que suele conocerse por allá. El poeta peruano también escribió ensayo y teatro, realizó traducciones y demás.

WHY ESTABLISH YOUR PRIORITIES AND SHIFT THEM WHEN NECESSARY

Porque establecer tus prioridades y saber cambiarlas cuando sea necesario By~Por: Ana E. Gaeta

There are times that, no matter how much we want something, it is hard to reach. There are times that regardless of how hard we work, we cannot do what is necessary to achieve what we want because maybe at this precise moment, we simply cannot give it our all. There are things that have to be postponed but not forgotten. The key is to always remember our priorities, no matter how much we struggle. I recently heard about the death of a famous violinist. She loved her hands as these were the most important parts of her talent as a violinist and she took very special care of them. She even had her hands insured for a large amount of money. One day she stumbled near a stair case and fell down the stairs. The first thing she thought of was protecting her hands so she didn´t react like a normal person would by putting out her hands and stopping the fall. Instead, she tried to cushion the fall with her head and back, but this killed her. As I remembered this the other day, I realized the importance of establishing the right priority in different situations. There

Hay veces que por más que deseamos algo, no lo logramos. Hay veces que por más que quisiéramos obtener lo que queremos, no podemos hacer lo necesario para obtenerlo porque en este preciso momento simplemente no se puede. Claro, sabemos que cuando queremos algo luchamos por obtenerlo. Sin embargo, también es necesario comprender que hay cosas que se tienen que posponer pero no olvidar. Lo más importante es recordar siempre lo que es prioridad y entender que las prioridades pueden cambiar en base a eventos en la vida. Hace poco escuche sobre la muerte de una violinista famosa. Amaba sus manos, ya que estas eran la parte más importantes para su vida como violinista y las cuidaba muchísimo. Hasta había asegurado sus manos por mucho dinero. Un día se tropezó y cayó por las escaleras y por no lastimarse las manos no las uso para detenerse, en ves quiso amortiguar la caída con la cabeza y la espalda, pero esto la mato.

are times when we have to sacrifice what we most want for what we need now. That may mean taking care of things that need immediate attention and postponing our long-term plans. Maybe it means attending something that is almost life or death instead of clinging to something we really want to do but that is less of a priority. For example, I find it hard to accept that I have to sleep instead of working so much, but when I get sick I realize that the body is charging me a high price for not meeting my basic needs. Sometimes, we have to do just enough to survive so that later on we can have the opportunity to truly reach bigger goals and meet our long term plans. You may want to start a project now, you may have goals and dreams that you are anxious to achieve, but if the circumstances at this time do not allow it, don´t obsess about what you can´t have, instead focus on what you can work on now. It does not mean that you must forget what you want, only that you must focus on the moment and what your priorities should be at this stage of your life. Your priorities can change, and they usually do in different stages of life. Which is why you need to constantly reevaluate them. For example, when your children were small you had different priorities than now if they are now married. Think about everything you want and what you really HAVE to do and pick 5 things that are really your priority, and write why. Then put them in order from the most important to the least important on your list of priorities and keep them in mind every time you have to make a tough choice. Maybe your number one priority is your family or your health, or maybe your number one is your job. No matter what, don´t let others define your priorities, those are yours and only yours to establish. If your greatest priority is your job or your career and after reevaluating all your priorities you realize that truly is what you want as your top priority, then great, don´t feel ashamed. However, it is important to understand that when something is your top priority this means that you are willing to sacrifice other things in order to maintain that as your top priority. This doesn´t mean you can´t change your priorities but you have to set them straight to have some guideline as to what you want to do with your life. If you realize your true priority is your health or your family, but all this time you have been acting as if your career is your top priority, it may be time to reorganize your agenda and start saying “no” to things you want but that are not allowing you to make your health or family the number one priority. Consider and analyze what your current priorities are and what you want them to be, then adjust your lifestyle and choices to make them congruent. Be honest with yourself because at the end of the day you will have to live with your decisions and face the consequences of the actions you take. Do not bury your goals and dreams but work with what you can right now without losing sight of what you want in the long run, even if it takes a while to get there.

Al pensar en esta historia, me di cuenta de la importancia de saber cambiar de prioridad en el instante correcto. Hay veces que tenemos que sacrificar lo que más queremos por lo que necesitamos en este momento. Eso tal vez signifique ocuparte de cosas que necesitan inmediata intención y posponer nuestros planes de largo plazo. Tal vez signifique atender a algo que es casi de vida o muerte en vez de aferrarnos a algo que realmente queremos pero que es de menos prioridad. Por ejemplo, a mí me cuesta mucho aceptar que tengo que dormir en vez de trabajar tanto pero cuando me enfermo me doy cuenta que el cuerpo me lo está cobrando caro el no atender a las necesidades básicas por darle prioridad a otros aspectos, que aunque son importantes no son esenciales para sobrevivir. Puede que tú estés queriendo emprender un proyecto, tengas metas y sueños que quieres lograr pero si las circunstancias en este momento no te lo permiten, no te agobies. No significa que debes olvidar lo que quieres, solo que debes enfocarte en el ahora y que es lo que es realmente tu prioridad en esta etapa de tu vida. Tus prioridades pueden cambiar, y normalmente lo hacen en cada etapa de la vida, es por eso que necesitas revalorarlas constantemente. Por ejemplo, cuando tus hijos eran pequeños tenías diferentes prioridades a las que tienes ya que están casados. Piensa en todo lo que quieres y en lo que tienes que hacer. Escoge 5 cosas que son realmente tu prioridad y escribe porque. Después ponlos en orden de lo más importante a lo menos importante en tu lista de prioridades y mantenlas en tu mente cada vez que tengas que tomar una decisión difícil. Tal vez tu prioridad número uno es tu familia o tu salud, tal vez tu número uno sea tu trabajo. Tus prioridades nadie más las debe de definir, son personales. Si después de valorar tus prioridades decides que la más grande es tu trabajo, está bien, pero debes entender que cuando algo es prioridad se sacrifica todo lo demás para seguir dándole el lugar a esta. Esto no significa que nunca puedes cambiar de prioridades pero sí que necesitas claramente establecerlas para lograr enfocar tus tareas y esfuerzos correctamente. Si después te das cuenta que tu prioridad es tu salud o tu familia tal vez sea tiempo de reorganizar tu agenda y comenzar a decir ¨no¨ a cosas que quieres pero que por el momento no son tan importantes como estas. Considera y analiza cuáles son tus prioridades actuales y cuáles quieres que sean, después ajústalas y apégate a ellas. Asegúrate de ser honesto contigo mismo, porque al final de cuentas tú tendrás que vivir con tus decisiones y con consecuencias de las acciones que tomes. No olvides tus metas ni sueños pero trabaja con lo que puedes en este momento sin perder de vista lo que quieres lograr aunque tardes en llegar.

Every time I step out into the busy streets of Los Angeles, I see people in frayed bottom jeans or bare butt jeans and I am tempted to stop and ask them, “Where did you get your jeans?” I can never find ripped jeans that fit just right. After contemplating whether I should muster up the courage to walk up to one these people and as... I asked! and guess what? ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE!

Después de contemplar si debería tener el coraje para caminar hasta una de estas personas y preguntarles... ¡me pregunté! ¿y adivina qué? “¡PEDI Y SE TE DARÁ!”

The reason I haven’t found them yet is because they didn’t buy them like that. They were “homemade,” which honestly took me by surprise. I mean these jeans looked professional! I guess if you want something done right and the way you want it... you got to do it yourself... am I right or am I right? Anyways, I am going to take you through the fascinating DIY experience of making your own one of a kind ripped Jeans and for all you DIY denim virgins out there, I suggest you don’t start chopping up your favorite pair of jeans! I think it is better to practice on a pair you kind of like, but don’t mind ruining, just in case. Or, maybe get an inexpensive pair of jeans and practice with them before you touch the ones you love. They have some good pairs of jeans at Forever21, Zara, or H&M. This way you won’t have to stress about being perfect on your first try! The other positive thing about “DIY denim” is that you’re in charge of how cropped you want them to be or how high or low you want the holes to be. You’re basically like a barber but for your jeans! SOOOO much less pressure if you mess up because jeans can’t talk or ask for their money back. (; You’re in the clear! So don’t be a-frayed and have fun with it! HERE WE GO… 1.THE 4 MAIN THINGS YOU WILL NEED! • Fabric scissors or regular scissors • A pair of jeans • Washer & dryer • Your Imagination!!!!! 2. LET’S DO THIS! • When you’re cutting make sure to keep the denim fabric pulled tight! This will keep the trim as straight as possible on the first try. If you need to use a ruler and a pencil to draw a straight line, do so! When cutting, keep in mind how cropped you want to go, less is always more. Maybe start at the bottom seam and work your way up to the desired length! Also remember it will look shorter after you are done. 3. LAST BUT NOT LEAST! • You can either damp the part of the cut section or just throw them in the washer. This is an important step to get the results we want. • After you wet them, throw them in the dryer to get the full fray effect! Next month I will teach you how to give them a stressed look with a disposable razor! For now, let’s master the scissors. Pues esos jeans parecería que son hechos ¡por profesionales! Supongo que si quieres algo bien hecho, y de la forma que a ti te gusta... tienes que hacerlo tú mism ... ¿si o no? Así es que te voy a llevar a través de la fascinante experiencia de hacer tus propios vaqueros rasgados y para todos ustedes DIY (que en Ingles es Do It Yourself) denim vírgenes por ahí, te sugiero que no comiences a cortar tu Jeans ¡favorito! Creo que es mejor si practicas con un par que te quede bien, pero no te importe arruinar, por si acaso o tal vez conseguir un par de jeans baratos y así practicas con ellos antes de tocar tus favoritos. Forever21, Zara, o H & M tienen pantalones vaqueros muy económicos. De esta manera usted no tendrá que preocuparse en tener un resultado perfecto en tu primer intento. La otra cosa positiva acerca de “DIY denim” es que usted está a cargo de cuanto deseas recortar y del estilo que quieres, si deseas que sean cortos o largos o si deseas que los agujeros sean grandes o pequeños. ¡Tu serás básicamente quien los diseñara como un peluquero tu pelo, pero para tus vaqueros! Asi no hay presión, pues los jeans no pueden hablar o pedir su dinero de vuelta. ;) ¡Así que a deshilachar y a divertirse con él! AQUÍ VAMOS… 1. LAS 4 COSAS PRINCIPALES QUE USTED NECESITARÁ. • Tijeras de tela o tijeras regulares • Un par de vaqueros • Lavadora • Secadora ¡¡¡¡¡ Y tu imaginación!!!!! 2. ¡HAGÁMOSLO! • Cuando estés cortando asegúrate de mantener la tela de mezclilla estirada. Esto mantendrá el recorte tan recto como sea posible en el primer intento. Si necesitas usar una regla y un lápiz para dibujar una línea recta, ¡hazlo! Cuando cortes, ten en cuenta que tan cortos los quieres, menos es siempre más. ¡Comienza quizá en la costura inferior y trabaje hasta lograr el largo deseado! También recuerda que se verá más corto después de que hayas terminado. 3. POR ÚLTIMO, ¡PERO NO MENOS IMPORTANTE! • Puedes humedecer la parte de la sección cortada o simplemente meter el pantalón a la lavadora. Este es un paso importante para obtener los resultados que queremos. Después de mojarlos, mételos en la secadora para obtener el efecto de flequillo ¡completo! El próximo mes te enseñaré cómo darles un estilo “estresado” o gastado con una cuchilla de afeitar desechable! Por ahora vamos a dominar las tijeras. Get started with fashion feels. I love the cooperation between dressing well and speaking a foreign language. The great thing about developing a sense of style is this, it’s not something you need to be born with, it’s a skill like any other that can be learned. All it takes a little practice. If you are a total beginner, it may seem like a natural eye for fashion is needed, but in reality they’ve just been practicing for longer then you have. Also, so many men and women have already discovered their own style in their own skin. It’s not only getting dressed up, first of all you need to know your own skin inside the fashion world. Also, what personality type and what body type, the WHO ARE YOU. What are your favorite colors? What type of music what gets your attention? if you are lost in this aspect of yourself, you need to start paying attention to everything you see and everything you wear, CATCH UP on living in your own skin. What are your goals at this stage? It should be all about observing your own desires to develop a better understanding for the different aspects of an outfit and how they all work together. Then, get the feeling for what kinds of things you are personally drawn to. Don’t worrying too much, just try going with your feelings. Wait until you feel confident about putting together your outfits and have awareness of what kind of things you like the most. One thing you can do to improve your sense of style is to train your eye to look at how other people are doing it, what type of pieces are they wearing and what the principal look is. What’s the primary color? What shoes are they wearing? Then try thinking what that moment represents to you. La idea de este último viaje con amigos, fue ir únicamente a La Merced – lugar ubicado a unos 751 m.s.n.m., a 75 km al este de Huancayo y a 220 km al noreste de Lima, la capital del país. Existe una carretera asfaltada de 305 km que une a Lima con La Merced. Es la única ciudad que tiene descendientes Italianos. Es una ciudad de abundante vegetación. Luego de algunos cambios, la ruta final también nos llevó a Oxapampa. Lugar que nos dejó sorprendidos por la belleza de su gente, paisaje, pueblo y de su indiscutible, buen, aromático y delicioso café orgánico.

We all know that the theme parks in Orlando are the best for a family vacation, but you do not necessarily have to use the excuse of “take the kids” to have an unforgettable time. What can two senior ladies do there? More than one can imagine! I have even gone by myself several times because I love them and want to see and experience everything without interruptions. This time my mom and I had a blast visiting 6 parks in 5 days!

Todos sabemos que los parques temáticos de Orlando son lo mejor para vacaciones familiares, pero no necesitas la excusa de “llevar a los niños” para pasarla increíble. ¿Qué pueden hacer ahí un par de señoras maduras? ¡Más de lo que puedas imaginar! He ido varias veces sola porque me encantan y quiero ver y disfrutar todo sin interrupciones. ¡Esta vez mi mama y yo la pasamos fabuloso visitando 6 parques en 5 dias!

The first day we started early at Disney‘s Magic Kingdom, I had to ride the new Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and it is awesome! It follows a winding path through the Enchanted Forest and a rocky tunnel up a steep hill; at the summit, the cart navigates hairpin turns around the mountain through a verdant countryside and deep into a mine shaft teetering back and forth. During the ride you can see lots of colorful jewels, views of Fantasyland, a waterfall, and Snow White’s cottage. After a quick visit to Fantasyland to admire all the new princesses and additions, we ran to Tomorrowland to take a double ride in my all times favorite Space Mountain, mom did not ride it so I used her Fast Pass to go twice, on both trains, the difference with Disneyland’s is that here it is double. My heart starts pumping as it glides through an energy tunnel pulsating with blinking lights and ascend a 180-foot high mountain to be launched from the top into the remote blackness of the dark universe filled with sounds of space and galactic music surrounded by stars on a thrilling space ride with passing shooting stars, satellites, comets, and meteors and feeling the push and pull of gravity as you soar into a swirling wormhole on an amazing flight in space.

El primer día empezamos temprano en Disney’s Magic Kingdom, tenía que conocer el nuevo Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, ¡Esta fantástico! Sigue un sinuoso camino cuesta arriba a través del bosque encantado y un túnel; en la cima, navegas en pronunciadas vueltas alrededor de la montaña por el campo hasta entrar en la mina. Se ven muchas joyas multicolores, vistas de Fantasyland, una cascada y la casita de Blanca Nieves. Después de visitar Fantasyland para admirar a las princesas y nuevas atracciones, corrimos a Tomorrowland para subirme dos veces en mi favorita Space Mountain, mi mama no se subió así que use su Fast Pass para pasear en ambos trenes, a diferencia de la de Disneyland, esta es doble. Empieza a latir fuerte el corazón desde que pasas el túnel de brillantes luces al subir a la montaña de 180 pies para ser lanzado en la remota obscuridad del universo lleno de sonidos espaciales y música galáctica y rodeado de estrellas en un veloz viaje espacial con estrellas fugaces, satélites, cometas y meteoros sintiendo la gravedad en un sensacional vuelo espacial.

Then, we took a flight on a breezy, airborne adventure as we hang-glided in “Soaring’ Around the World!” above some of the most breathtaking wonders the world has to offer like the Great Wall of China, the Iguazu Falls in South America, Australia’s spectacular Sydney Harbor,

We rode the cars in the Test Track circuit, which is the same as Radiator Springs in Carsland at Disney’s California Adventure park but with a different theme; and felt like an astronaut in Journey to Mars in the X-2 Deep Space Shuttle at the International Space Training Center (ISTC). You get goose bumps as you arc around the moon and then attempt a precarious precision landing on the Red Planet’s alien surface. After so much adventure we relaxed visiting the 11 countries of the World Showcase. We traveled through ancient and modern China while watching a 14-minute Circle-Vision 360° film screening in the China Pavilion; met Snow White in Germany, Mulan in China and Belle, from Beauty and the Beast, in France to end at the Mexico Pavilion which exhibits Mexican arts and crafts, typical candies and tequilas! And has one of the best attractions, a boat ride with “Los Tres Caballeros” showcasing touristic attractions in Mexico. Just before the evening show at the lake, we had the most spectacular dinner at La Hacienda de San Angel, owned by the San Angel Inn in Mexico City, and believe me, it is excellent. Not often I give 5 stars, but I have been at many Disney parks and this is one of the best restaurants we have tried...loved it! Their Mexican cuisine and premium margaritas are served with old world hospitality, they have

Justo antes del show nocturno en el lago, disfrutamos la cena más espectacular en La Hacienda de San Angel, de los mismos dueños del San Angel Inn de México, y créeme, es excelente. No doy 5 estrellas fácilmente, pero he estado en muchos parques de Disney y este es uno de los mejores restaurantes que he probado… ¡Me encanto! Sirven su cocina mexicana y fantásticas margaritas con ancestral hospitalidad, ofrecen vibrantes sabores de regiones de México bajo coloridas lámparas de globo y linternas de

vibrant flavors from regions around Mexico under colorful globe lamps and star lanterns, it is beautiful, with lots of windows out onto the lake and the menu is great. We really felt like we might have been in Mexico. Corn tortillas and fresh salsas are house-made; all of their ingredients are either locally sourced from smaller growers or imported from Mexico. The guacamole, zesty appetizers, main dishes, avocado margaritas, and desserts are to die for. The staff is very friendly and extremely attentive, but not overbearing, just enough to make you feel great. Our table overlooking the lake was the best spot in the house to enjoy the view of the World Showcase Lagoon where EPCOT’s fireworks are on each night. We even invited a British family to share it with us so they could see it better. It was a magical night! Huge thanks to Chef Jerry Gonzalez, our servers, and the rest of the team for making it a memorable experience. But the evening was not over, after the magnificent dinner and show, we went back to the Magic Kingdom just in time to catch the fabulous show that brings the Cinderella Castle to life with projections of Disney scenes and characters in an Evening of Fairytales cleverly projected onto the palace with a dazzling mix of special effects and moving music, lasers, lights, and fireworks hosted by Mrs. Potts and Chip that take you on an unforgettable journey that captures the heart, humor and heroism of many favorite Disney animated films. And to top it all, we enjoyed the beautiful lighted parade on Main Street! The next day we had a more relaxing but very interesting experience at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Cape Canaveral. It is organized into Mission Zones where attractions and tours are grouped chronologically. From the dawn of space exploration to current and ongoing missions, you can get an up-close, hands-on feel for the story of humans in space. We visited the Rocket Garden, the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, and saw the authentic Atlantis Space Shuttle. There is so much to explore, they have great theaters and showrooms, some on 3D, animation, and very nicely narrated exhibits like the launch of the first crewed NASA mission to orbit the moon in 1968 aboard the massive Saturn V rocket; the Apollo 11 moon landing and the wonder and excitement of the Apollo era. We saw a lot of modules, rovers, moon rocks, spacecraft, rockets, and lots of historical moments. And the next best thing to an actual space shuttle launch! Of course, I experienced the simulation of the space shuttle’s ascent into orbit! Just like an astronaut, you can learn to pilot the space shuttle in a high-tech simulator that brings to life the complex systems and components behind the engineering of the space shuttle orbiter. It is worth the visit! We could not miss a delicious dinner of fried shrimp with ice cold, tap beer in a very nice beach front restaurant in Cocoa Beach, home of the I Dream of Jeannie TV show. Uff! Too much for now…will continue with the rest of my ultimate vacation on next issue.

Pero no acabo ahí la noche, después de la magnífica cena y el show, regresamos al Magic Kingdom, justo a tiempo de alcanzar el fabuloso show sobre el castillo de Cenicienta con proyecciones de escenas y personajes de Disney en una Noche de Cuentos de Hadas fantásticamente proyectados en el palacio con efectos especiales, música, lasers, luces y fuegos artificiales narrado por Mrs. Potts y Chip que te llevan en un viaje inolvidable que capta el corazón, humor y heroísmo de muchas películas animadas de Disney. Y para rematar, vimos el hermoso desfile iluminado en la Main Street. El siguiente día fue más relajado pero una experiencia muy interesante en el Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex en Cabo Cañaveral. Esta organizado en Mission Zones con atracciones y tours agrupados cronológicamente. Desde el inicio de la exploración espacial a actuales misiones, puedes recorrer de cerca la historia de la humanidad en el espacio. A Wisconsin company is the first in the US to offer implanted chips for opening doors and logging in to computers. Employees of Three Square Market, a vending machine technology company in River Falls, Wisconsin, won’t have to worry about forgetting their employee ID cards at home anymore. Starting next month, a voluntary program will offer company employees the chance to get an RFID chip implanted in their hands. The tiny chips will use NFC (near-field communication) technology to allow employees to unlock doors, make vending machine purchases, log in to computers and access office tools like photocopiers, all with a wave of the hand. In a report that aired on CBS This Morning earlier today, I commented that the plan could raise privacy concerns, asking: “Do you want someone to know every time you enter or leave a room? There’s a degree of autonomy that’s lost with this person to person, oneto-one tracking. You can never leave it behind. You can’t really turn it off.” In a press release, Three Square said the program is strictly voluntary, but that it expects about 50 employees to accept the implant

Lost luggage, rainy days, no cell service are probably headaches that you experience on summer vacation. While these annoyances can put a damper on summer fun, many of us overlook the most potentially damaging concern we face during summer travel data security. According to a survey by the University of Phoenix® College of Information Systems &Technology, nearly half of registered voters responding to the survey said having their personal information hacked or stolen was their top worry while on vacation this summer. Surprisingly, the majority of respondents feel the need to use personal devices like cellphones and laptop outweighs the risk of hacking and data breaches when traveling. Additionally – and more worrisome – most survey respondents said they do little to keep their devices secure when they travel. Chances are you went on vacation during the past three months, which bodes the questions: Was your personal data at risk? The short answer is yes, but that doesn’t mean you should quit travelling. Unfortunately, we live in a time when our data can easily be breached, whether we’re on vacation or at home, but knowing how hackers attempt to steal information and use it against us can help make sure we stay secure. Let’s first take a look at the methods hackers use when attempting to steal personal information. For many of us, vacations are the time when we let down our guard, which exposes us to potential dangers. Targeting unsuspecting tourists is an easy way to steal personal data. It’s important to note that hacking isn’t always highly sophisticated. Hollywood often portrays hackers as master coders, but there are myriad ways our data can be compromised. Methods can be more sophisticated, like monitoring social media for information to decipher passwords, or sending emails to friends and family members asking for money to help you get back home. Hackers can also take simple approaches, like pickpocketing, snatching unattended cellphones at popular tourist locations or adding viruses to public computers in hotel lobbies. If you use a public Wi-Fi network, access a public computer, or post your location online, then you may be putting yourself at risk. While your information is most likely safe, it is smart to keep an eye out for any unusual activity. When it comes to protecting your personal information, there is no foolproof way to stop hacking from occurring, but being aware of the tricks and methods hackers use can be the best defense. Now that we know how hackers are targeting our information, let’s look at what exactly they are trying to steal. Data can be a difficult concept to grasp in regard to what information could be used by hackers. While we know that money, credit cards, I.D.s and other important personal items should be

In fact, mundane information can be some of the most valuable to hackers, for it often leads them to more advanced information. Hackers will often try birthdays and pets’ names from social media to decode passwords. If they see your photos from a snorkeling excursion, they may attempt to send a phishing email disguised as a survey from the company that contains a virus. The end goal is to compromise your account to either hold it ransom for cash or attempt to use their breach to access bank information and drain your account or make fraudulent purchases.

Other seemingly innocuous information that hackers look for includes locations visited, and tagged friends and family members. If you receive an email from a trusted friend or company that seems slightly off, call them instead of replying. Never share personal information over the phone unless you are talking with a trusted, vetted individual. The final step is knowing what you can do to defend yourself from hacking attempts. Try to refrain from sharing any personal information, or if you do, make sure you know how to keep it away from hackers’ hands. Instead, we have to understand how to keep that information out of hackers’ hands. Updating antivirus, using virtual proxy networks (VPNs) and avoiding public Wi-Fi are the first steps to staying secure. Other methods include locking devices and websites with strong passwords and, ultimately, being conscientious of what you post online. We should not be afraid to travel, but today’s connected world means we must be more aware. Whether you know it or not, you are fighting a daily battle to keep your personal data secure. Knowing how hackers attack, what they’re looking for and how to stop them is your best defense in today’s digital world.

The pioneering software paved the way for YouTube and countless games, but Adobe will kill Flash in 2020. Here’s what it means for you.

The Flash Player has been there for you all along, inside your browser, making it possible for you to play online games, stream radio station music and watch YouTube videos. But after a two-decade run, Adobe is killing it off.

Countless nails have been hammered in Flash’s coffin in recent years, most notably by Apple’s Steve Jobs and also by Adobe itself. Now, though, there’s a date for the funeral: Dec. 31, 2020. Flash has been a website workhorse -- online gaming site Kongregate has more than 100,000 Flash games -- but don’t fret over the demise of the pioneering software. It’s more appropriate to rejoice, since the software today is a security risk and major source of browser crashes. “I am glad Adobe is ending Flash’s life. It has honestly made the web a worse place for more than a decade,” said Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin. Indeed, Adobe’s move is momentous enough that the biggest names in web tech -- Apple, Google, Facebook, Mozilla and Microsoft -- coordinated announcements to tell us what’s going on and to reassure us all that it’s going to be fine. WHAT’S IT MEAN FOR ME? For the time being, you’ll have to jump through some hoops to play Crush the Castle. In the coming months, depending on what browser you use and how it’s configured, the Flash phase-out could be anything between no biggie and a serious problem. Some games will stop working. Schools and businesses that rely on Flash-based instruction modules will have to move into the future. Some websites, especially old ones that are no longer updated, might stop working. Today’s workarounds all will break on mainstream browsers by the end of 2020. Here’s a rundown of what you can expect: • Chrome: Google’s browser began asking us for permission to run Flash on some websites last year, and it’ll do so more often and later disable Flash by default. “We will remove Flash completely from Chrome toward the end of 2020,” Google said. • Firefox: Mozilla’s browser will start asking you in August which sites you want to enable Flash on, it’ll disable Flash altogether by default in 2019, and there will be lingering support through the end of 2020 only in Firefox’s less frequently updated Extended Support Release. • Edge: The newest version of Microsoft’s browser uses a click-to-run option that asks if you want to run Flash on a website, a policy that will continue through mid-2018. The company’s older Internet Explorer browser won’t give you any grief. In mid-2018, Edge will be more aggressive about

“Few technologies have had such a profound and positive impact in the internet era,” Balakrishnan said. FLASH’S DOWNSIDE But Flash came at a cost. The fact that it could run full-fledged programs exposed browsers to a large number of security vulnerabilities. It was responsible for a sizable percentage of browser crashes, too. It used battery power that became precious as we moved from plugged-in desktop computers to laptops and then phones. And importantly for Jobs’ decision to ban Flash from iPhones and iPads, it was born in the era of PCs with keyboards and mice, not phones with touch-screen controls. Apple’s iPhone ban broke a key Flash advantage:

If you really want it, you can re-enable it on websites that offer to download Flash, an action Safari notices and that will give you an offer to run Flash for the site. • Facebook, which hosts lots of Flash-based games, urged programmers to get with the program so ordinary folks don’t have to suffer through any of these problems. “While games built in Flash will run on Facebook until the end of 2020, we strongly advise developers to follow the timelines set by browsers,” Facebook said in a blog post. • Countdown to 2020 • In three and a half years, Adobe will stop developing and distributing Flash, said Govind Balakrishnan, vice president of product development for Adobe’s Creative Cloud Ecosystem. Browser makers have been pushing hard to eject Flash, but Adobe couldn’t move any faster because web standards weren’t mature enough and Flash developers in education, gaming, streaming video and other industries need time to retool and rewrite their software, Balakrishnan said. • “We feel the standards have arrived, and now is the right time to announce our intention to pull the plug,” Balakrishnan said. • Flash exploded into popularity shortly after Microsoft’s Internet Explorer won the early browser wars of the 1990s. IE was the default browser in the world’s most widely used operating system, but Microsoft left the software mostly dormant. Filling the void was Flash creator Macromedia, acquired by Adobe in 2006. • Flash brought animation technology that was good for games, interactivity that let people build features like photo galleries, the ability to use webcams for video chat and multimedia features that wiped out an earlier confusing array of options. People installed Flash in their browsers, programmers didn’t need to worry about differences between IE, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and other browsers, and lots of advanced web features just worked.

universality. Until the iPhone arrived, developers could count on Flash running on most computing devices in our lives. Cutting Flash out of what Jobs called our “post-PC” future sent the message that Flash is a relic from a bygone age -and that developers shouldn’t bother buying Adobe’s Flash Professional tools.

THE BEGINNING OF THE END But the first death knell came three years before the first iPhone arrived. In 2004, three browser makers -- Mozilla, Apple and Opera Software -- launched a group to try to advance HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and other core technologies used to build websites. These browser makers wanted industry standards instead of relying on proprietary alternatives like Flash. Unfortunately for them, the top web standards group, the World Wide Web Consortium, wasn’t interested in their proposal at the time. So they struck off on their own and formed the Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group(WHATWG). The resulting rift has been slowly healing, but for years, Flash was the only game in town. Now, though, web standards are surging ahead -- especially after the arrival of Google’s Chrome browser. WebGL brings hardware-accelerated 3D graphics. HTML5 makes webbased audio and video almost as easy to build into a website as text and photos. SVG helps with vector graphics like logos and stock charts. Most recently, browser makers allied around Web Assembly, which stands to dramatically speed up web software like games. “Most of the great games this year are HTML5,” online game site Kongregate said in a blog post. HTML won -- at least compared to Flash. When it comes to challenging mobile apps written to run natively on Google’s Android or Apple’s iOS, web technologies face plenty of challenges. But that’s another story.

While smartphones, laptops and wearables have become common fixtures of travel, few people take the proper steps to ensure they remain secure throughout the journey. Traveling with technology presents a unique set of cybersecurity considerations that are often overlooked. According to a recent University of Phoenix survey, nearly half of registered voters worry about cybersecurity risks while on vacation, yet the majority feel the need to use personal devices outweighs the risk, and most do little to keep their devices secure. Fifty-four percent lock devices with passwords when not in use, but less than half take other security measures, such as hiding devices when away, updating antivirus or disabling Bluetooth and location services. The lack of security measures would be less consequential if personal devices weren’t such an important travel necessity. The same survey found that three-fourths of registered voters bring their smartphones and 44 percent bring their laptops with them while travelling. Additionally, half of respondents admit to checking their devices at least once an hour while on vacation, often times on unsecure, public Wi-Fi networks. The trick to staying secure is not leaving these devices at home, but rather taking the proper measures to keep your personal information safe. Below are common cybersecurity mistakes people make while travelling and steps you can take to avoid them. ACCESSING PERSONAL INFORMATION ON PUBLIC WI-FI One of the biggest mistakes people make is accessing sites that store personal information – like bank information, passwords and social security numbers – while on public Wi-Fi that is accessible to anyone. The easiest way to protect your data is to limit your access to these sites while in public places. Although this may be more difficult than when you’re at home, since secure data can be limited, and public coffee shops are often the only options in a pinch, it is best to be aware of the risks. Hackers often frequent these places, waiting to steal passwords or other information. A way to avoid this is to wait to access the internet or apps until you’re in a more secure location, like your hotel room, or when you’re back home. If you have to access the internet in public, use your phone’s hotspot or, at the very least, avoid sites that house your most important data, like online banking. According to the University of Phoenix survey, stolen bank information is top concern for registered voters when travelling. Posting photos from faraway places or updating statuses about flight delays or travel information is a sign to hackers that your home is unoccupied and open to theft. The best step is to wait to post photos or information from trips until you’ve returned home. If you feel the need to post photos or share updates, try to avoid posting information about flights, hotels, lengths of stay or other information that tells hackers how long you will be away. TAKE AN OLD SCHOOL APPROACH TO SECURITY Antivirus software, virtual proxy networks and firewalls are all great tools to protect data, but taking an old school approach is another simple way to keep devices secure. Hacking isn’t always a sophisticated endeavor: grabbing unattended devices or installing viruses on public computers are just a few of the offline approaches hackers use. When travelling, make sure devices are accounted for at all times. Keep phones in front pockets or in hand rather than in purses, backpacks or back pockets, where they are easier targets. If you leave a laptop or device in the hotel room, lock it in a safe or hide it under clothes so it is not visible. Invest in a privacy screen and be aware of your surroundings in public to keep information safe from curious eyes. Additionally, avoid public computers at all costs. These computers aren’t often updated, making them more vulnerable. Hackers can install software or viruses on these computers that store your data. When trying to manage flight delays, sunburns or sand in your shoes, following these security steps can help give you peace of mind when traveling this year.

Let me answer it for you; “Yes”, all at some point in our lives, we have said or heard these words, whether from a relative, a friend, etc. Regularly come from older people, although, in these times, you can find it where you least expect it, but, what if I told you, that today, you can literally live, play video games? That’s the world of e-sports. Existen muchos y diversos tipos de deportes electrónicos o e-sports, así como existen muchos deportes convencionales, tales como Basketball, Football, Volleyball, etc. Es decir, “para gustos y colores”, en el mundo de los e-sports, puedes encontrar desde juegos de carreras - ¿que padre no se emocionó junto a su hijo mientras jugaban su primer videojuego de carreras juntos?- juegos de disparos, conocidos dentro de este mundo como FPS (First Person Shooter), juegos de estrategia en todas sus versiones; así como juegos de deportes convencionales, entre muchos tantos otros. Pero, seguro te estarás preguntando, ¿cómo puedes ganar tú algo, jugando algo?, la idea es simple, y funciona tal y como lo hacen los programas de televisión; es decir, entre mas gente los vea, más dinero generan, y entre más generan dinero, más invierten para que más los vean. Es un círculo con muchos ganadores, y así como los actores,

Existen muchos clubes deportivos importantes queriendo meter sus manos en el mundo de los e-sports. Equipos como Real Madrid, C.D América, y deportistas como Ronaldo entre muchos tantos otros, ya han comenzado a comprar equipos, por lo cual se espera que el mundo de los e-sports explote en cualquier momento, llevando a los Gamers a ser las próximas super estrellas del mundo. Quizá, para la próxima, deberás pensártelo dos veces antes de decirle a tu hijo “¡Ya deja de jugar!”, ya que, deberás entender, que así como tú tienes tus pasatiempos; las cosas que a ti te distraen, las cosas que haces por gusto o por amor, él también los tiene, no creas que, porque a ti te dan 2000 dólares por trabajar al mes, es mucho más importante o difícil que tomar clases que no vas a ver en tu vida, y quizás pienses, trabajo con maquinaria, !¿qué comparas eso?!; pero no por ello, vas a menospreciar el trabajo de tus hijos diciendo: “es su deber ir a la escuela”; porque recuerda que también “es tu deber trabajar”. Entonces, cuantas veces te has quejado por cuestiones de tu trabajo, de tus compañeros, y, por si no has entendido, tus hijos, tus amigos, tu familia, también tiene presión. Sea a lo que sea que se dedique, también hace cosas que no debería al igual que tú, también son juzgados, también tiene obligaciones, y sobre todo, también tienen que dar resultados, así que, la próxima vez que te diga tu hijo: “¿cómo te fue en el trabajo papi-mami?”, tómate aunque sea 10 minutos, de hablar y sobre todo escuchar, sobre los gustos de tus hijos, sea cual sea, danza, música, pintura, videojuegos, deportes, etc. Nunca olvides, que un hijo, no viene a seguir nuestros pasos, viene a ser mejores que nosotros.

Deconcentration and errors in the lower part put Mexico in check. Still the Germans would enjoy the score a couple of times and Fabian would score the honor, but Mexico was already eliminated, could not take that momentous step. The mockery was already total towards Mexico, its defenses and the own Osorio, but Memo Cantú give them the back. The worst of the worst would come in the consolation game for third place. Portugal was again the rival. The Tricolor had the duel in the bag with Neto’s autogol triggered by Chícharo, but in the aggregate and with serious error of Layún, Pepe, sent the duel to extra times. Little he served the great performance of Ochoa who saved a penalty. In extra times, Layún rounded his nightmare, he reached his hand in small area and the penalty was a fact. Adrien made the difference and Mexico neither reached the fourth place. TECATE Everything started badly, close to traveling to Europe, Jesus “Tecatito” Corona was out because of personal problems, at the moment no one understood the causes, Russia 2017 looked good with him, but again the FMF and the Tricolor makes the headlines. Opportunities and facilities just for being in Europe, served for Carlos Salcedo and Hirving Lozano to receive a special party to travel to Holland and sign their new contract with their new clubs. El debut ruso tuvo su dosis de emoción. Sufrimiento y dramatismo acompañaron al Tricolor contra los de Cristiano Ronaldo. Portugal se fue al frente por medio de Quaresma, Chícharo lo igualó al entretiempo, y Cédric hizo el 2-1 a cuatro minutos del final. Cuando todo parecía perdido, Moreno hizo la igualada en el agregado para poner cifras definitivas en un empate que sabía a victoria. En Sochi, México chocaba con NZ, nuevamente contra las cuerdas. Wood marcaba al entretiempo, pero al complemento, el Tricolor se llevó los tres puntos con los goles de Oribe Peralta y Raúl Jiménez. Sumaban el primer triunfo, pero daban de qué hablar debido a las 8 rotaciones respecto al debut. Nuevamente en Kazán, México ahora se media al anfitrión. Los rusos se iban al frente al 25’ por medio de Samedov, tercera ocasión “iniciando perdiendo”. El repunte inmediatamente llegó por medio de Néstor Araujo e Hirving Lozano. Ya en semifinales, Alemania era el siguiente rival en Sochi. Osorio modificó en su once, se guardó a Carlos Vela y de inmediato lo padecería, ya que los teutones tenían el partido en la bolsa con tan solo ocho minutos jugados. Desconcentración y errores en la parte baja pusieron en jaque a México. Todavía los germanos holgarían el marcador en par de ocasiones y Fabián marcaría el de la honra, pero México ya estaba eliminado, no podía dar ese paso trascendental. La burla ya era total hacia México, sus defensas y el propio Osorio, pero Memo Cantú le deba el espaldarazo. Lo peor de lo peor llegaría en el juego de consolación por el tercer lugar. Portugal nuevamente era el rival. El Tricolor tenía el duelo en la bolsa con autogol de Neto provocado por Chícharo, pero en el agregado y con grave error de Layún, Pepe, mandó el duelo a los tiempos extra. De poco sirvió la gran actuación de Ochoa que atajó hasta un penalti. En tiempos extra, Layún redondeó su pesadilla, metió la mano en área chica y el penalti era un hecho. Adrien hizo la diferencia y México ni alcanzó la cuarta plaza. TECATE Todo inició mal, cerca de viajar a Europa, Jesús “Tecatito” Corona era baja por problemas personales, al momento nadie entendía las causas, Rusia 2017 prometía con él, pero otra vez la FMF y el Tricolor daban de qué hablar. Oportunidades y facilidades por estar en Europa, sirvieron para que Carlos Salcedo e Hirving Lozano recibieran un partido especial para que viajaran a Holanda y firmaran su nuevo contrato con sus flamantes clubes. Algo poco entendible cuando lo importante era la concentración en el Tricolor en plano desarrollo de la Confederaciones. LESIONES Carlos Salcedo y Diego Reyes fueron los lesionados más graves del Tricolor, el “Titán” tuvo que incluso romper la concentración y regresar a México para ser operado. Reyes permaneció en el grupo en los últimos dos duelos, pero ya no tuvo acción. Mucha falta le hizo a la zaga defensiva porque ya sin ellos daban complacencias. DEFENSA DE AGUA La zaga baja fue la peor zona de México, es cierto que sufrieron por las lesiones y bajas, pero solamente Araujo y Moren estuvieron más cerca de la concentración, ya que Alanís y Miguel Layún la pasaron mal, muy mal. Al final, el Tricolor marcó esa numeralía, recibieron más goles de los que recibió. Diez goles en contra, 8 a favor. RESCATABLE Dentro del seleccionado y la aventura rusa pocos fueron los que sudaron la gota gorda como en el caso de Ochoa, Chícharo, Jonathan, Aquino y Vela, ellos sí marcaron diferencia. LO QUE VIENE El Tricolor ya deba cambiar de chip, pues en unos días les harán frente a la Copa Oro, la continuación del Hexagonal y una posible gira a Europa.

Manny arrived with a little smile from ear to ear and fell like every good Christian in a neutral corner to pray for his own health and that of his rival at the end of the fight. “The Hornet” was efficient during the first round, commanding the offense in the knowledge of knowing against who was facing. And so he came in with his whole body, putting his elbow to defend himself, moorings and shoves, hooks to do rabbit punches and the head ahead as an extra weapon. ““Pacman” put his warning of danger with a bold left-hander who found lodging again and again, Horn’s face began to show the ravages because Manny who protected himself with two hands, in addition, he hit the nail on the head, in a fight that became interesting despite the wiles of the Australian to whom we give the credit of his delivery. For half of the fight, Horn, who endured all the blows hard, continued to resist his street style, asserting its size and reach, then came the headbands where Pacquiao came out most injured with gaps in the scalp on each side, but that did not diminish his work and continued taking the bull by the horns. In the ninth round everything indicated that Manny would make his own when he harassed his rival, who had nowhere to hide to avoid succumbing and manage to beat the clock, Pacquiao gave him a smile as saying “Saved by the Bell”. The following rounds were very competitive but at leagues it was seen that the compass of “Pacman” gave him the advantage of the aim, more at the end of the day, what counts is the voice of the present judges who gave the unanimous victory to Jeff Horn that maintains the unbeaten with 17-0 a tie and most importantly, his name remains on the map of the recognition with the triumph before the Filipino star that if I answered that he would like a rematch, but without much emotion because of the annoyance that has followed him in some impact fights. Teddy Atlas and other commentators were extremely angered by what they consider an outrageous robbery, and computerized boxing numbers back them up because in all categories Manny doubled the amount to “The Hornet” who with raccoon eyes feels he was an Honest verdict and would gladly dance the bear against Pacquiao who said he wants only one thing…Re-venge!

Para la mitad de la pelea Horn quien aguantó vara todo lo que se le recetó seguía dando guerra con su estilo callejero, haciendo valer su tamaño y su alcance, después vinieron los cabezazos donde Pacquiao salió más perjudicado con boquetes en el cuero cabelludo a cada lado, pero no disminuyó su faena y seguía saliéndole al toro por los cuernos. En el noveno asalto todo indicaba que Manny haría de las suyas cuando hostigaba a su rival que no hallaba donde esconderse para no sucumbir y al lograr vencer el reloj, Pacquiao le lanzó una sonrisa como diciéndole “Te Salva La Campana”. Los asaltos siguientes fueron muy competitivos pero a leguas se miraba que la brújula de “Pacman” le daba la ventaja de la puntería, más al final del día, lo que vale es la voz de los jueces presentes que le dieron la victoria unánime a Jeff Horn que mantiene lo invicto con 17-0 un empate y lo más importante, queda su nombre en el mapa del reconocimiento con el triunfo ante el astro filipino que si contesto que le gustaría la revancha, pero sin mucha emoción por la contrariedad que le ha seguido en algunas peleas de impacto. Teddy Atlas y otros comentaristas estaban que echaban humo hasta por los sobacos por lo que consideran un robo descarado y los números del boxeo computarizado los respaldan ya que en todas las categorías Manny le dobló la cantidad a “El Avispón” quien con los ojos de mapache siente que fue un veredicto honesto y que con gusto bailara otra vez el oso contra Pacquiao quien dijo que quiere lo que le dijo el ganso a la gansa… ¡Ven-ganza!

The NFL year has one dead period during the course of the year. We are currently enduring that period right now, which usually extends from mid-June until early August, or to the latter half of July. Football fans are wishing these beautiful summer days of July would hurry up and end. One recently interesting development has been the appreciation and praise that has been showered down on the 49ers first-round draft pick, Solomon Thomas. The adoration of Thomas has been prompted by his driving ambition to improve as a player. Thomas recently pursued the help of Hall of fame candidate Demarcus Ware, who was a former member of both the Dallas Cowboys and most recently the Super Bowl 50 champion Denver Broncos. Ware and the Broncos were victorious at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara over the Carolina Panthers. Ware was an incredible performer. Thomas sought his instruction while making it clear to Ware that he had idolized him for a long time. Thomas will be wearing number 94 to start his career with the 49ers as a tribute to Ware. The eventual Hall of Fame candidate was be-yond flattered, and has been working hard with Solomon Thomas for several weeks. The will to learn and seek instruction from the one of the legends of the game has had a ripple effect seemingly across the entire league of Hall of Fame de-fensive football players. Since Ware got involved with Thomas, he has also gained tips from a list of famous players that looks like the “who’s who” of defensive lineman. A Super Bowl winner and teammate of John Lynch,

Warren Sapp, also added his support. Sapp and Lynch won Super Bowl 2002 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sapp has had nothing but praise for Solomon Thomas, while spending valuable time with him as well. 49ers and Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman, Charles Hayley, wanted to lend his expertise to a young man who is smart enough to look towards the gods of the game for direction as well. It has been unfortunate that Solomon Thomas has been unable to join his teammates in Santa Clara for the early sea-son preparations. That was due to the fact that, as a Stanford University student the quarter system extends far into June. The NFL rule stipulates that students may not exit campus to join teams they’ve been drafted by until the spring quarter session has ended. Thomas may have missed time learning the 49ers defensive schemes and bonding with his teammates, but he has a wealth of knowledge accumulated from some of the best of the best. We’ll find out in the weeks ahead if Thomas’s football education will be visible on the field of play.

It is a very exciting time here in Las Vegas as the Golden Knights prepare to officially compete in the upcoming NHL season. Their first game as an NHL team will be in Dallas against the Stars on October 6th. It will be a very exciting time at the T-Mobile Arena for the inaugural home opener which will take place on October 10th at 7 pm against the Arizona Coyotes.

After a public nomination process, and a vetting of nominations by the PHOF Governing Council, the finalists list eligible for induction into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2017 has been determined. It will now be up to the current 27-member Hall of Famers and an 18-person blue ribbon panel of media members to determine who actually does join this exclusive club. The following represents the finalists: 2017 POKER HALL OF FAME FINALISTS DAVID CHIU MORI ESKANDANI TED FORREST THOR HANSEN PHIL IVEY MIKE MATUSOW MAX PESCATORI MATT SAVAGE HUCKLEBERRY SEED Two new candidates have been nominated, and the seven others are previous finalists. The new candidates are: Mori Eskandani and Phil Ivey. Three of last year’s finalists return -- Max Pescatori, and Matt Savage plus five previous nominees –David Chiu, Ted Forrest, Thor Hansen, Mike Matusow and Huckleberry Seed, once again find themselves in the Top 10. The above list of names will be submitted to the 27 living Hall of Fame members and an 18-person media panel later this month for voting. Only these 45 individuals cast votes for induction. The criteria they will consider in their vote are as follows: A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition Be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination Played for high stakes Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers Stood the test of time Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results. The 2017 Class of the Poker Hall of Fame will be inducted as part of the World Series of Poker Main Event final Table Festivities in Las Vegas. Below for a brief about each of this year’s finalists for the Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2017, listed in alphabetical order. DAVID CHIU Born in China, David Chiu moved to the United States when he was an 18 year old exchange student. Originally a restaurateur in Colorado, Chiu first started in poker as a dealer before transitioning into one of the most successful tournament players in poker history. The 56-year-old is a fivetime WSOP gold bracelet winner with wins in Limit Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, and Omaha Eight or Better and cashes in 70 WSOP events. Chiu’s most recent bracelet victory came in 2013 at a stacked $2,500 Stud final table where he defeated the likes of Michael Mizrachi, Frank Kassela and Scott Seiver to earn his fifth bracelet. Chiu’s success extends beyond the WSOP though, and also includes a memorable victory over Gus Hansen in the 2008 WPT World Championship. That win earned Chiu an impressive $3.3 million and, over the course of his career, Chiu has raked in more than $8 million in career tournament earnings since he first started playing tournaments back in 1996. MORI ESKANDANI You may not know the name, but you definitely know the work. Eskandani, 61, is the man in charge of Poker Productions, the poker television production company that has produced many of the game’s most noteworthy television content. The current producer of World Series of Poker telecasts for ESPN, Eskandani also is responsible for Poker After Dark, High Stakes Poker, the National Heads-Up Championship and plenty more poker content. Eskandani was also a noted high stakes cash game player upon moving to Las Vegas in the 1980’s. While he may be too busy these days to get many hands at the table in, it’s certain he’s left his mark on poker for the various television productions he’s produced. TED FORREST A six-time WSOP gold bracelet winner, Forrest captured his latest bracelet by slaying Phil Hellmuth heads up to win the Seven Card Razz event at

But if that wasn’t a coming out party, it only took two days longer to cement his name in poker circles. He went on to win Events 12 and 13 too – incredibly winning three WSOP gold bracelets in three consecutive events in three variants of poker – the first and only time that has occurred in WSOP history. Forrest’s resume is littered with success in every major variant of poker, and he’s captured a WPT and National Heads Up title. He’s also a noted cash game player, even taking part in the famed high stakes heads up cash games with Andy Beal. THOR HANSEN Since starting in poker in the late 1980s, Norwegian poker pro Thor Hansen has cashed in more than 195 tournaments, racking up more than $2.9 million in career earnings. His list of cashes is certainly long and includes some notable highlights like two WSOP gold bracelets, won in 1988 and 2002 , and an appearance at the $50,000 HORSE final table at the WSOP in 2007. Known in Europe as the “Godfather” of Norwegian poker, Hansen is one of the earliest supporters of the now-thriving European poker scene. In addition to his extensive tournament results, the 70 year-old Hansen is also an accomplished cash game player who was notoriously backed by Larry Flynt to play in high stakes cash games in the 1990s. PHIL IVEY Ivey burst onto the poker scene in Atlantic City in 1998, when as a 21-yearold won a customer appreciation invitational tournament at the Tropicana. He won his first WSOP gold bracelet in 2000 at the 31st annual tournament, achieving his first six-figure tournament score in Pot-Limit Omaha. From there, he seemed to win non-stop, including three WSOP gold bracelets in a 21-day span to become the youngest WSOP player to reach four WSOP gold bracelets. (Age 25). To date, he’s cashed in 151 poker tournaments around the globe, including wining $3,582,753 – his largest tournament poker score – at the Aussie Millions in Melbourne, Australia in 2012. He’s a ten-time WSOP gold bracelet winner, a WPT champion who has made nine WPT final tables and recorded cashes on four different continents. Ivey is also a renowned cash game player, travelling far and wide to participate in the biggest cash games around the globe. Perhaps the most-feared player of his generation, Ivey is always willing to sit down with anyone at the poker table, and usually ends up on the right side of the results. While tournament poker hasn’t seen too much of Ivey in recent years, you could even say he is doing the players a favor. Anytime Ivey shows up to play he is a favorite to run deep. He turned 40 this year and became first-time eligible. MIKE MATUSOW Mike “The Mouth” Matusow has plenty to talk about when it comes to his poker accomplishments. The 49-year-old is a four-time bracelet winner with more than $9 million in career tournament earnings. A poker dealer turned poker pro, Matusow has final tabled the WSOP Main Event twice in 2001 and 2005, made 14 other WSOP final tables, and appeared at five WPT final tables. Never one to bite his tongue, Matusow developed a reputation of being a tough player and a tough talker, as he frequently speaks freely at the tables. The Mouth is a four-time WSOP gold bracelet winner and has also won the NBC Heads Up Championship. MASSIMILIANO “MAX” PESCATORI Italy’s Massimiliano “Max” Pescatori, with lifetime earnings up over the $4.4 million mark to go along with four career WSOP gold bracelets. Pescatori, 46, began his poker tournament career in 2002, and has been a steady and consistent performer ever since, with a well-rounded game that includes success in multiple disciplines. The Milan resident known as the “Italian Pirate”, Pescatori is also a noted poker author, having written two books in Italian on poker, to help strengthen and grow the game in his home country. MATT SAVAGE When you think of non-players in poker, perhaps there is no more wellknown figure than tournament director Matt Savage. Known for his playerfriendly, feet on the floor style, Savage, 48, has directed tournaments all over the globe and for all different tournament series and casino companies and handled his duties with aplomb and style. One of the inaugural founders of the Tournament Directors Association, Savage has tirelessly advocated for standardizing poker tournament rules and has been one of the foremost innovators in terms of tournament offerings and formats. The San Jose, California native is the current tournament director at the Bay 101 Casino in San Jose as well as the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, in addition to being the Executive Tour Director of the World Poker Tour. Savage has had a front row seat to the incredible growth poker has undergone this century and has been one of the most influential men in helping the game grow and evolve to what it is today. HUCKLEBERRY SEED It isn’t just Huckleberry Seed’s tall frame that helps him stand out among his competition at the table. The California native and Caltech alum is a four-time bracelet winner with $7.6 million in career tournament earnings. There is truly nothing Seed can’t play at the tables, as his varied list of results include bracelets in Razz and PLO, a victory in the NBC HeadsUp Championship, two final table appearances in the $50K Poker Players Championship, a win in the WSOP Tournament of Champions in 2010, and, of course, winning the WSOP Main Event in 1996. Since Seed first started playing tournament poker back in 1990, he has posted six-figures worth of results in 22 different years.
