MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR Spring has sprung here at the VPAG! Not only do we have some exciting programming on the horizon, but work is going on behind the scenes for our new cultural facility. Through the months of April and May we’d like to express our gratitude to our members for supporting us through what has been one of the most uncertain years that the gallery has ever faced. Until the end of May, when VPAG members bring a friend with them on their next visit to the gallery, we will provide them with a complimentary General Membership so that they can share the gift of art with a friend/family member! Thank you for choosing to be part of the VPAG community! We recognize and appreciate each and every one of you! I’m thrilled to see how this year’s Okanagan Print Triennial exhibition has come to life! This year’s show features 28 printmakers from around the world. New to the OPT 2021 is the artist talks we are streaming live, enabling you, the viewer, to interact with these artists in the safety of your own home as we explore their work. Upcoming in May will be four new exhibitions. I am happy to welcome Sean Caulfield back to the Gallery as he and Susan Colberg present their new body of work: Infodemic which examines the impact of misinformation around health issues in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are also excited to host our annual exhibition featuring the soon to be BFA Graduates from UBCO in an exhibition called Emergence. We are featuring a community based project by the youth at the Teen Junction Youth Centre called Through Our Eyes. Finally the VPAG will be presenting a component of the Legacy of Hope Travelling Exhibition which deals with the history of the Residential School system in partnership with SD. No.22’s Aboriginal Education department. Fast approaching is our annual fundraiser, Midsummer’s Eve of the Arts, on July 21, so mark your calendars! We are hopeful that we will be able to host a live event in some form in keeping with the current health regulations at that time. If you would like to volunteer or donate artwork or packages to this year’s MEA please contact us at the gallery. Thank you for your patience and support as we all transition through this challenging time. See you at the VPAG! Dauna Kennedy, Executive Director

Family Saturdays take place on the last Saturday of each month with an art project suitable for little kids and big kids alike. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate and create their own piece of art as well. All materials for the workshops are supplied. Suggested ages 5 years old and up. Sign up online at www.vernonpublicartgallery. com/family-saturday

Join us on the last Monday of every month for a diverse exploration of art-making materials and art processes through age-appropriate art activities. We invite parents and guardians to bring their little ones under the age of 5 to explore art making with non-toxic materials in this fun and social program that encourages creative self-expression while developing fine and gross motor skills and sensory awareness. All are welcome to create, and make sure you dress for mess! Parents must accompany children for the duration of the session. Admission is by donation.
