MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR What a great year 2019 has been for the Vernon Public Art Gallery. We’ve had a few staff changes; Welcoming back Kelsie Balehowsky as our Learning and Community Engagement Curator and adding Carly Melvin as our part-time Communications & Marketing Assistant. The Board of Directors and staff participated in a strategic planning process that will transition us to the new cultural facility. Work has been going on behind the scenes with the development of this significant project for the North Okanagan. Most recently, Colliers International was hired by the RDNO as the management team for this phase of the project. We look forward to significant progress in 2020. This year, The VPAG was thrilled to receive a project grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. This was a big accomplishment for us as the competition for these funds is significant across Canada, and indicates to us that the caliber of our curatorial programming is worthy of federal funds. A big thank you to Lubos, and his curatorial team for working hard to create strong programming for our community to enjoy. Lastly, I’d like to thank all of our sponsors, donors, members, and volunteers who together ensured our organization is financially strong and sustainable.
This is
especially important as we grow towards our community’s vision for the future. Also, those who participated in our 1st Annual Giving Tuesday, thank you. It was a fun campaign to highlight the value of giving back to our communities on the tail of two major shopping days, Cyber Monday and Black Friday. Once again, we appreciate the generosity of our community. May you all have a happy and safe holiday season. Please join us in the New Year to experience all the VPAG has to offer in exhibitions, public programming and lifelong learning for all. Kindest Regards,
