United Veterans commemorate POWs and MIAs

The United Veterans of St. Lucie County held its 22nd annual commemorative candlelight service in honor of POW/MIAs from all wars Sept. 19 at Veterans Memorial Park, Port St. Lucie. Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 566 hosted the tribute. Joe Lusardi, chapter commander, was
master of ceremonies, welcoming a crowd of about 70 people, each of whom was given a small battery-powered candle to hold. After the Pledge of Allegiance, an invocation was given by chapter chaplain Myles Gill. Vietnam veterans then shared poems and other readings.
