Florida’s veterans are finding hot jobs in solar energy. “It’s a high-growth industry right now,” said Bobby Carbonell, executive director of Veterans Florida On May 1, Indian River State College, Fort Pierce, is launching a five-week certificate program for solar-industry jobs. Florida Power & Light plans to put in 2.5 million panels at eight new solar energy centers in Florida by 2018. “We’re helping them spread the word to veterans in the state and surrounding states,” Carbonell said. “They’re hiring over 1,000 people to build solar fields throughout the state.” FPL has announced plans to build 2,100 megawatts of new solar capacity Solar installer on roof.
