Why do we choose to drive Corvettes? Why We Drive, it’s an individual’s desire to dream to discover and explore. And of course, seeking a life outside our daily routine and sharing those moments with other motorsport, enthusiasts is also part of the charm too! Connecting with others who share your interests! It’s also, how do we say this… “It’s more than just a Corvette, It’s a Lifestyle”, It’s much more than just a fabulous drive, it’s an adrenaline rush or a flashy look. It’s all about how it makes you feel. So, “Why should the boys have all the fun?” It’s about the journey, not the destination. For Corvette enthusiasts or for any other female motorsports lover, it’s the buzz of having so many people looking at your sleek ride, to feel their eyes following you and seeing their surprise when they realize a WOMAN is driving! The best feeling of all... is the absolute power of the engine. The car can represent the many milestones of our lives. From a kid’s dream come true, to a retiree’s return to freedom, from a family riding together on the road, to the thrill of the force effect when you put your foot down is both exhilarating and scary at the same time. It’s about the passion of the drivers and the soul of their corvette/motorsport. The pleasure of hearing the car’s reverberations as we go past a high wall. Fellows watch out! Your senses will heighten as the world rushes in, your heart will beat to the pulse of the engine, your mind will race and set you free. Most importantly it’s being recognized for our mileage, our sisterhood and our service. Once you let a Corvette into your life, it will change you forever. Drive on Ladies! First All-Women Racing Team To Compete In The 100th Running Of The Indy 500

12

The new Grace Autosport team will contest the 2016 Indianapolis 500, the 100th running of the famous race, with Katherine Legge confirmed as a driver. By: Anne Proffit, Special contributor

INDIANAPOLIS - Many attempts have been made to have women in essential positions in motor sport; some have succeeded, in the case of occasional engineers and those women that perform mechanical duties - along with the few winning female Indy car and sports car drivers that have come along since the dawn of the sport - but more have failed.

A corvette cannot /will not be without a female driver/audience. The fact that your keys are still in your hands ladies, will become apparent after you get into the driver seat. Women love fast cars too, if I wanted to go slow, I would have bought a Mustang! Neither friend, nor foe, nor even thy spouse may drive thy corvette without first showing proper reverence. Just when you thought, LOOKS weren’t everything! People thought we look good topless Thou shall not swear at Corvette – for it is very temperamental, JUST LIKE US. You will never suffer a punctured tire on the road until cruise on an unpaved road and you leave repair kit at home. Nothing is harder than to pass a fellow corvette owner in distress/fail to wave. THE FACT THAT YOUR CORVETTE SHOULD NEVER BE DIRTY. YOU SHALL NOT TAKE IT TO AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH. Who said corvettes are for men,, when it has all the curves as a W.O.M.A.N 20

Remember When Hope Solo Drove a Corvette Pace Car? Fun fact: U.S. women’s goalie Hope Solo has been stopping opponent goals for the United States since 1996 when she was a member of the U16 team. Another fun fact: she also likes to drive Corvettes on the race track. Fast. In honor of tonight’s big World Cup game vs Japan, we wanted to throwback to 2011 when she was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Corvette at the Brickyard 400. In 2011, officials called on Solo to hop behind the wheel of the Chevy pace car. The car in question was a 2011 Corvette Grand Sport and the race was the NASCAR Brickyard 400. Though she was limited to just 55 mph pacing the race, she did manage to open it up a little beforehand. 21

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 14, 2015) – As Danica Patrick and the No. 10 GoDaddy Chevrolet SS team for StewartHaas Racing (SHR) look to get their season back on solid footing, there’s no better place to make that happen than this weekend’s New Hampshire 301 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in the “Granite State” at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Patrick’s 2015 season got off to a solid start with two top-10s and five top-20 finishes in the first eight races of the season, but in recent weeks sub-par finishes have been out of her control.

After the drivers are announced the line up of cars begins. Then the START your engines and the famous checkered flag. Wow !!! What noise, but its sweet to race fans as they watch whose car takes the lead after the first lap. The first three laps are the most exciting. When accidents happen the race almost comes to a halt as the track is swept of dangerous debris. Each restart warrants a yellow flag for the first car passing the starter after an incident. The green flag is displayed at the start of the race and for restarts during the race. The restarts hold excitement as well, as everyone stands to see their driver fight for the lead again. After many restarts, accidents and close calls, 399 laps later the winner is announced as he zooms across the finish line and the flagman waves the famous checkered flag. He does his victory lap around the track and the famous burnout before claiming the Monster Mile trophy. When it’s all over the trash talking begins amongst the fans and the threats of next year fill the hot air. Of course my driver Jimmy Johnson wins as he has for the past nine years. He holds the record for the most wins all-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Dover. I'll be back next to see him FLY across the finish line once again. June Bartlett 24

1,600+ HP C7 Z06 Thanks To ProCharger’s Newest Design By Brent Davis

42

By now you have to be well versed on the C7 Z06, and its supercar capabilities. According to Chevrolet, the LT4 produces 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque at the crank thanks to a roots style supercharger and a 6.2-liter engine that highly resembles the LT1, though changes were made to both decrease compression and increase strength of the internals. ProCharger has been building superchargers for daily driven streetcars for years. Some of these kits have even added over 200 hp to people’s street machines without sacrificing durability or drivability. While they have satisfied an immense number of customers over the years, there has always been a select group of drivers that really want a lot more power. The issue has been that the engines lacked the internal designs and components to handle large amounts of boost and horsepower. Luckily, GM built the LT4 for the new Z06 in a manner that can handle a serious increase in power. 43

We spoke with ProCharger about their involvement with the LT4 and they had some interesting things to say, “With its fortified, forged-engine and relatively low compression, ProCharger knew people would be wanting to build the ultimate supercharged supercar, and would need a power adder that could deliver what this engine could handle. So we set out to create a simple way to remove the small factory roots blower, and bolt on (with no permanent modifications) a ProCharger headunit capable of supporting 1,600+ hp!” “Yes, we said 1, 600+ hp. But we know that over time customers of ours will very well push that number above that just as they have with ProCharger supercharged C6 Corvettes now in the 1,600 hp range, thanks to the super efficient boost and power created by the ProCharger centrifugal headunits. Packs of ultra-high horsepower street driven Corvettes have become mainstream on the internet these days.”

44

“When we first set out to perform this swap from roots to centrifugal, we wanted to see what the gains would be at the 100-percent stock boost level (10psi). Just to prove the concept of that gain in efficiency and power production. With simply removing the factory blower, and leaving the 100-percent factory tuning (same timing, same fuel, same boost) we were rewarded with a gain of 115 hp over stock!” “After testing at the stock boost level was complete, we upped the boost by just a few pounds to 13 psi, and were rewarded with 720 rwhp, or 827 crank hp, while still running the factory timing, and pump fuel. For this article, crank horsepower is based on drivetrain loss of 14.9-percent, i.e. the factory-rated crank horsepower of 650 produced 553 at the rear wheels. “Now with gains that large, and power levels that good on this 100-percent factory engine with a camshaft designed for a roots blower, you can tell that with a camshaft change and more boost that elusive “1,000 hp” number is easily obtainable for Z06 owners, more then ever before. Knowing the power levels of these cars was going to be crazy 45

out of the gate, we made sure everything in the system was ready for the task.”

INTAKE MANIFOLD

ProCharger initiated their project by building a completely custom LT4 intake manifold that simply bolts into place where the rootssytle supercharger previously sat. Their intake is constructed using a CNC billet intake runner and baseplate, and is completed with thick walled sheetmetal which can withstand incredibly high levels of boost.

ProCharger also added, “Spending lots of time in the design stages helped to not only optimize flow and power potential, but it also ensured the factory hood line was maintained.” Fortunately, for those of you that own a C7 Stingray, ProCharger has made this intake for your engines as well. BLOWER OPTIONS Additionally, several head units are available which allow you to choose just how much power you want your LT4 to make. The base level system comes with the incredibly efficient, P1SC-1, which is capable of producing 725 rwhp or 825 hp at the crank. If you should desire, you can step all the way up to the F-2 head unit which can support 1,600 hp! To top it off, each ProCharger is constructed from aircraft-grade billet aluminum, their gear cases are CNC billet for added strength, and each supercharger is self-contained, in that it is equipped with its own oiling system. No need to tap into the factory system.

AIR-TO-AIR INTERCOOLER

According the ProCharger, they have completed a rigorous schedule of road course testing, drag strip testing, lab testing, and even a series of stopand-go traffic testing. They filled us in further, “We put our intercooler system through its paces to make sure it would keep the air temps cool, engine temps cool, as well as leave

46

all the amazing aerodynamics of the C7’s design in place.”

ProCharger actually designed two different intercooler systems. The correct design for you is dependent upon how your car will be primarily used. Before you order your own unit, be sure to figure out which is the best option for you. The guys at ProCharger are happy to help! REVERSABILITY It is no secret that many Corvette owners can be hesitant to permanently alter their vehicle in a fashion that prevents it from ever going back to stock, and we frankly we can’t blame them. Luckily, ProCharger has you covered here as well, this kit is 100-percent reversible. Because the supplied intake manifold bolts in place of the factory supercharger, all of the original equipment can be unbolted and reinstalled at any point should you choose to do so. There is absolutely no cutting, bending, tweaking, or trimming of any sort. OPTIONS
