he Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Community Foundation of Orange County recently presented CASA of Orange County (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) with a check for nearly $30,000. Funds for this generous donation were raised during the company’s fourth annual charity golf tournament, held earlier this year at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club in Mission Viejo. CASA is a nonprofit organization that trains volunteers to serve as mentors and advocates for the community’s most severely abused and neglected children. Founded in 1985, CASA of Orange County is just one of over 900 CASA programs nationwide. More than 3,000 severely abused, neglected and abandoned children overfill the Orange County Foster Care system on any given day. CASA volunteers are recruited and trained to provide a stable adult relationship for an abused child, independently monitor the child’s circumstances, and advocate for a safe and permanent home for each child. CASA recently kicked off the school year with its annual back-to-school picnic and backpack program, funded largely with the money raised by Coldwell Banker. The event was held this year on August 2nd in Orange, where approximately 500 children and volunteers enjoyed an afternoon with games, a caricaturist, therapy dogs and a catered lunch. Each child received a brand new backpack loaded with school supplies, as well as a gift certificate to go shopping for new school clothes with their CASA mentor. The event was a great success, providing a strong start to the school year for these disadvantaged children. “Coldwell Banker is excited to be partnering with CASA to help positively impact the lives of vulnerable children and teens in Orange County,” said Tom Iovenitti, president and chief operating officer of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Orange County Company. The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Community Foundation is responsible for coordinating the company’s philanthropic and volunteer activities in the communities that Coldwell Banker serves. The golf tournament fundraiser for CASA is just one of the many local humanitarian efforts by Coldwell Banker Orange County. “As a significant presence in Orange County, it is Coldwell Banker’s mission to assist and contribute to the communities that CASA helps and we are committed to continuing this support,” said Iovenitti.
