Golf News Junior Golf Clinics This spring we had tremendous participation for our Junior Golf Clinic program. We had juniors from the ages of 4 1/2 - 14 years old engaged in golf games, on course play, golf course etiquette and core values. On Fridays alone we had 75 kids in our classes which ended up turning into a huge success with the organization of groupings and the transition between the classes coming in and leaving. Lots of kids enjoyed the clinics so much that they wanted their own clubs and bag to practice at home. The smiles and excitement these kids showed every week was nothing but priceless and we are extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to work with a wonderful group of kids each week. Golf Course Update A Note from the superintendent What a difference a year can make. Yesterday, during the member guest I heard lots of positive feedback. All of our new equipment has helped us to provide optimal playing conditions throughout the golf course. As we strive to provide these optimal playing conditions, the membership also needs to play their part by fixing ball marks, filling in divots when applicable and raking bunkers after they have disturbed them. Together we can return VCSP to its former glory and have a course we can all be proud to bring our guests and friends to play. July and August will hopefully bring us some warm sunny weather and we can put all this rain behind us. As the season progresses, we will continue to make improvements on the golf course. This will include more and frequent topdressing on Mondays alongside needle tine aerifications and/or verticutting. Sometimes these practices may seem to be a huge inconvenience to everyone but it what separates good golf courses from great ones. Ethan Johnson Superintendent

Racquet Sports Update . A Note from the Interim Director I would like to say an enormous thank you to all the members and staff that have welcomed me to this wonderful club. I am very grateful to have the opportunity to lead your tennis department and hope to make the clubs tennis program as robust as possible. I look forward to seeing you all on the courts throughout the summer. A little about me... I was born in Connecticut but grew up on the mean Country Club streets of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In junior tennis, I was ranked high enough to play most of the national tournaments. I received a scholarship to play D1 tennis at Miami University. I have represented the Cayman Islands and Ireland in International Competitions. I am a husband, a father of 4 and a dog owner! I have a passion for coaching tennis, which radiates through the lessons that I teach. I love working with each player’s unique game style and seeing how I may be able to help them get the most out of their tennis game. In my approach to teaching, I emphasis movement , mechanics and shot selection. I will be running the ladies morning practices, clinics, and some individuals as well. email tennis@villageclub.org to book a lesson See you on the courts! Jonathan Klampe Interim Director of Tennis

FOOD & BEVERAGE UPDATE We are experiencing some of the most unpredictable weather in June, which happens to typically to be our busiest month of the year. With the addition of our new members, and more member events, the Club has been setting club usage record numbers all around F&B. For the Grille we are now in the Full Summer schedule. Over the last few Friday nights , the Grille has seen staggering numbers, largely due to the successful junior golf clinics that ended this past weekend. We will be introducing Friday night dinners at the Mansion once a month with a limited menu from 6PM to 9PM, no children under the age of 12. The first dinner is June 21st, the Next Mansion dinner will be July 12th. Reservations for the Mansion Dinners will be taken at the Mansion, and Reservations for the Grille will continue to be taken at the Grille as usual. At the pool, the Bar and Snack Bar have also had record numbers, when mother nature has cooperated. The bar at the pool has picked up a lot of popularity with the addition of both, a drink menu, a smoothie list and special beers and wine. We have seen very strong numbers at our Member events. We had 350 in attendance for our traditional Memorial Day BBQ, the weather also cooperated, and it was an all-around fantastic day. The “Taste of Summer event had a record attendance, with raving complements still coming in. We are looking forward to a very active summer and cordially invite you to visit us at your club. Please help us by making your reservations for all areas and events as early as possible. Ben Barragan Assistant General Manager 16
