"Today’s the day, Ralph Junior!" Ralph Senior exclaimed, gripping the steering wheel of their RV. "We’re heading to our first Cubs game on the road!"
Ralph Junior traced the route on the map. "Which stadium are we going to, Dad?"
"We’re headed to St. Louis to see the Cubs take on the Cardinals," Ralph Senior replied. "It’s going to be a great adventure."
When they stopped for gas, Ralph Junior couldn’t help but feel a thrill of excitement as they got closer to St. Louis. "Dad, do you think it’ll be different from Wrigley Field?"
"Every ballpark has its own unique charm," Ralph Senior said. "But the Cubs fans will make it feel like home."
They arrived in St. Louis and parked the RV at a nearby campsite. Ralph Junior could see the stadium in the distance. "We’re so close, Dad! I can’t wait to see the game."
"We’ll explore the stadium and learn all about the Cubs’ history here, too," Ralph Senior said, setting up their camp.
Before the game, over breakfast in the RV the two talked about the Cubs-Cardinals rivalry. "Did you know, Dad? The Cubs and Cardinals have been rivals for over a century!"
"That’s right, Junior. And we’re about to witness the next chapter in their story," Ralph Senior said, impressed by his son’s enthusiasm.
On game day, Ralph Junior and Ralph Senior walked toward the stadium, surrounded by fans. "Look, Dad!
There are Cubs fans here, too!"
"That’s the great thing about being a Cubs fan," Ralph Senior said. "No matter where we go, we’re always part of a bigger family."
They found their seats with a perfect view of the field. Ralph Junior couldn’t help but grin. "This is awesome, Dad! I feel like we’re part of something big."
"And we are," Ralph Senior replied. "This is more than just a game—it’s history in the making."
When the Cubs scored their first run, Ralph Junior jumped up and cheered. "Go Cubs!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the stands.
"That’s the spirit, son!" Ralph Senior cheered along, proud to share this moment with him.
After the game, they walked back to the RV, tired but filled with joy. "Dad, can we do this at every Cubs away game?" Ralph Junior asked, already planning their next adventure.
"We’ll see as many as we can, Junior," Ralph Senior replied, smiling. "This is just the beginning."
As they drove off into the night, Ralph Junior couldn’t stop talking about the game. "I can’t wait for our next Cubs adventure, Dad!"
"Neither can I, son," Ralph Senior said, already looking forward to their next stop. "This was just the first pitch."
The game was intense, and Ralph Senior and Junior had a great time cheering on the Cubs. "Dad, I can't wait to add all the exciting stuff we got at the game to my collection!" Ralph Junior exclaimed, holding up his new souvenirs.
"Every game is special, but this one’s our first on the road," Ralph Senior said, sharing in his son’s excitement.
Later that evening, Sally called to check in. "How was the game, boys?" she asked, smiling as she listened to their stories.
"Mom, it was amazing! We saw the Cubs win on the road!" Ralph Junior said, still buzzing with excitement.
"It sounds like you’re having a blast," Sally said warmly.
As the sun rose on a new day, Ralph Senior and Junior reflected on their first road game. "This was just the start of our summer adventure," Ralph Senior said.
