"Good morning, Little Stars!" Teacher Susan greeted her class. Today, she had something important to talk about.
But Billy had a problem— he said bad words. The other kids didn’t like it, and Teacher Susan knew she had to help.
"Billy, why do you say those bad words?" Teacher Susan asked. "My mommy and daddy say them all the time," Billy replied.
"Just because someone else says them doesn't make it okay," Teacher Susan explained. "It’s important to use kind words."
Billy thought about what Teacher Susan said. "But what should I do if my mommy or daddy says a bad word?" he thought to himself.
"But what should I do if my mommy or daddy says a bad word?, asked Billy,”
You can remind them by saying, ‘Mommy, Daddy, that’s not a good word,’" Teacher Susan suggested. "They might learn from you!"
That night, Billy’s dad said a bad word at dinner. Billy remembered what Teacher Susan told him.
"Daddy, that’s not a good word," he said.
Billy’s dad looked surprised but smiled. "You’re right, Billy. I’ll try not to say that again," he promised.
The next day, Billy’s mom said a bad word. "Mommy, that’s not a good word," Billy reminded her. "Oops, you’re right!" his mom said.
Billy stopped saying bad words, and soon, his friends liked playing with him even more.
Billy felt proud. He used good words, and even his mommy and daddy stopped using bad words.

Think About:

1. Why did Billy say bad words?

2. What did Teacher Susan tell Billy to do when he heard bad words?

3. How did Billy help his mommy and daddy?

Let's Work Together: When we use kind words, we make our homes and classrooms better places.

I Will: I will remind others to use good words, just like Billy did.

The Importance of Knowing: Words are powerful. Choosing kind words makes people feel happy and helps everyone get along!
