Roe was masterful for Dayton all day long in the complete game performance. The junior allowed only six hits on the day. Roe on a ground out to end the scoring chance. In the bottom of the seventh inning it was the Eagles getting the first three hitters on with no one out to load the bases. Matthew Lyday then hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field to score Nathan Oliphant with the game winning run. Sowell lead the way offensively for the Broncos with two
hits. Dayton is now 14-4 on the season and 5-2 in district play. Last Tuesday night, the Broncos traveled to Humble and knocked off the Wildcats 14-4. Roe pitched five innings to get the win on the mound. He struck out six. Wehmeyer pitched the last two innings and struck out three. He also led Dayton at the plate with three hits and five RBI’s.

Tarkington wins in nine innings against Liberty 9-8 By Jerry Michalsky Sports Editor Tarkington- It took 3 1/2 hours to play and the game went nine innings, but in the end it was the Tarkington Longhorns coming away with a stunning 9-8 win over the Liberty Panthers on Tuesday night in district 22-3A play on the Prairie. Liberty would hold an 8-5 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before the Longhorns would strike for a three runs in the inning to send the
game into extra innings. Had it not been for the Panthers Taylor Rackstraw gunning down a runner in the seventh the game would not have gone into extra frames. Early on Liberty did not waste time jumping on the scoreboard first by getting two first inning runs. Colby Wilson would reach on an error and after moving to third base it was Andrew Fregia plating Wilson with a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0. Daniel Hebert would
then double and scored on a Blake Brown single to make it 2-0. In the second inning it was Luke Harris getting a double and then pinch runner Coy Draper would score on a Juan Saavedra hit to run the score to 3-0. Back would come the Longhorns in the bottom of the second inning to tie the score at 3-apiece thanks to a two-run double from Chance Evans. The Liberty bats would keep it going in the follow-
ing inning by putting up four runs. Fregia would start things off with a walk, Hebert then following with a double to score Fregia to make it 4-3, Brown continued his big night at the plate with a single to score pinch runner Blake Brown and it was 5-3. After a Luke Harris single it was Rackstraw with a two-run double to run the score to 7-3. Tarkington would chase Hebert off the mound in the bottom of the third inning with a run a and it was 7-4.
Hebert would finish with four strikeouts and was relieved by Brown. The Panthers would get that run back in the top of the fourth inning as Layne Reed would double and then scored on a RBI single by Brown to make it 8-4. Brown finished the day a perfect 4-4 at the plate and reached a fifth time on a walk. He also added three RBI’s. The Longhorns would get a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 8-5 and then with

More damage could have been done in the fifth inning if not for a diving catch by Saavedra who was playing centerfield, he then came to his feet and fired to first base for a double play. Still tied at 8-apiece heading into the bottom of the ninth inning it was Evans winning it for Tarkington with a single. Harris finished with three hits for Liberty while Hebert had a pair of doubles.
