Ah, spring.

The sound of feathered robins and cardinals; the crack of a bat and roar of the crowd on opening day.

The sight and smell of budding trees and flowers. Butterflies ride the warm southerly breeze and pollinators do their important work.

Splashing mountain waters, gliding canoes, longer days, black bears emerge from hibernation.

Outdoor concerts at amphitheaters, public park stages, street parties ring in the seasonal promise of rebirth.

Then, of course, festivals galore celebrating everything from regional foods like she-crab soup, BBQ, seafood, springtime wines and craft beer of the lighter varieties to visual art, crafts, gardens, Pride, cultural heritage, and kite flying.

Spring marks the beginning of festival season, and in this issue of the magazine we have pulled together an extensive list of must-attend events region-by-region.

I know few people who love to attend festivals more than Jennifer and our fellow marketing consultant Brian Koski. Chances are you’ve seen them celebrating life one weekend after another.

Virginia is a diverse state with so many unique opportunities that I hope you’ll use our Festival Guide to plan day trips and weekend excursions to experience small town events, rural and mountain regions, the coastal, lake, and riverside communities, and fun downtowns from Charlottesville, Harrisonburg and Roanoke to Norfolk, Richmond, and Alexandria.

Festivals offer an opportunity to engage with locals over a beer while enjoying music and other entertaining activities. Get to know someone new and gain a greater appreciation of what it means to live in Virginia.

Benchtop’s Hopped Green Tea

How do you take your tea?

Why, hopped, of course.

Virginia craft breweries have been innovative in their approach in listening to customers, looking at trends in the marketplace, and making adjustments so that all who enter the tasting room have a beverage selection to their liking.

Eric Tennant recently unveiled a delightfully hopped green tea for those consumers who prefer a nonalcoholic, zero calorie, gluten-free, and yet flavorful menu item when visiting Benchtop Brewing Company’s Norfolk and Richmond locations.

“It is a sparking hopped tea brewed with hops and Gun Powder green tea so that people could have an alternative to beer while they’re here,” said Tennant.

At press time, the served-cold, carbonated beverage is likely to be called Hop Cha, though on the menu board it’ll be listed as Sparkling Hopped Tea.

The new tea will be a permanent, year-round item on draft as well as in 16-ounce cans for those seeking a to-go option and summer thirst quencher.

Tennant said the idea for the tea derived from observing families in the tasting room and patio spaces. Not everyone in the party of 4 or 6 wanted beer, so having a brewed tea with hops has been seen as a great way to have such guests purchase a beverage and introduce them to the flavor of hops, which surprisingly lingers when made with the green tea.

It’s tea time all the time.

Rising Tide for Water’s End

Water’s End Brewery, with locations in Lake Ridge, Potomac Mills, and historic Fredericksburg, announced it will open a fourth location — in Leesburg.

The brewery’s new location will be at Village at Leesburg within The Dell Food & Brew Hall, which will include Paulie’s Fresh Handmade Pasta, Lucky Dog (hotdogs), and Colombian’s Place. Among Water’s End’s popular brews are Damn Beer (Golden Ale), Don’t Hazy Me, Bro! (Juicy IPA), and Biergarten Hero (Kolsch).

Port City Season Winner

“We learned yesterday that we were the top selling independent local beer at Nationals Park in 2022,” posted Bill Butcher, founder and president of Port City Brewing Company in Alexandria, on social media.

Major League Baseball team Washington Nationals lost 107 games last season, making them the worst team in the entire league. Fans may have been screaming foul and crying the blues, but they apparently consumed a lot of Port City brews.

According to the Washingtonian magazine, the other independent craft beer brands — “District Drafts” — sold in 2022 at Nationals Park were from Old Ox, Solace, Fair Winds, City State, Right Proper, 3 Stars, DC Brau, Atlas, Denizens, Other Half, and Hellbender.

Beyond the independent brands, Budweiser and Devils Backbone have significant presence at the ballpark.

Gorgeous All Year ‘Round

The Virginia Beer Company, in Williamsburg, has moved forward with adding its award-winning Gorgeous Hazy IPA to its year-round port folio of flagship beers. The packaging/label design of its 16-oz cans is in keeping with its new brand refresh.

“We’ve been steadily introducing the market to the new look and feel of the packaging on our core beers since last spring,” said Chris Smith, co-founder of The Virginia Beer Company. “Brand refreshes take a lot of planning but have started to become a little more common in the industry. We thought timing the official announcement of the refresh around the new yearround status of Gorgeous would give our customers something to get excited about.”

Gorgeous joins Free Verse Hazy IPA, Elbow Patches (oatmeal stout), and Saving Daylight (American wheat) as the brewery’s core, widely distributed offerings. The popularity of these beers spoke volumes to the brewery’s team.

Pilsner Fest at Billsburg

Local breweries have started a trend of hosting thematic competitions featuring a particular beer style.

“We want people to really understand that when we get feedback, we listen,” said Robby Willey, co-founder of The Virginia Beer Company. “This was a collaborative effort that included feedback from everyone in our brewery’s family: our distributors, retailers, loyal customers, and the ‘VBC’ team all gave feedback on the brand refresh. We’re an incredibly community-conscious brewery, and we really treated this process like a community event. And, we are really excited how this new look and feel reflects not just the liquid in the cans, but our whole brand identity these 7 years after first opening our doors & taps in 2016.”

Keeping It Simple at Beale’s

Since its inception, Bedford-based Beale’s Beer has kept its beer names simple and straight-to-thepoint with brands such as Gold, Silver, and Peach Tea Blonde Ale.

With Session and Hazy, two new brews being distributed as flagships, the brewery is doubling-down on its effort.

Billsburg Brewery, located near the historic Jamestown Settlement, has been on the forefront with its annual Pilsner Invitational.

This year, Billsburg will host some 18-plus regional beer makers on Saturday, April 15 from noon to 5 PM.

“We’re returning to simplicity,” said Emily Sanfratella, Beale’s VP of Operations. “These days, it’s easy for consumers to feel overwhelmed with choices and confused by busy labels and lengthy descriptions. Beer should be fun! We want craft beer to feel approachable to everyone. Our beer is easy to understand. No fuss, just quality beer.”

Take 6 with Hawksbill Brewing

On Saturday, May 13, Hawksbill Brewing Company will celebrate its 6th anniversary since opening in Luray.

The town of Luray, as most know, is located just off of Skyline Drive in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and is famous for its namesake Caverns, an underground network of caves with stalactites and stalagmites.

For those venturing around the Commonwealth this spring and summer, Luray makes for an ideal overnight with accommodations like Mayneview B&B, Hotel Lawrence, The Inn of the Shenandoah, and Mimslynn Inn, as well as dining options Main Street Bakery, West Main Market Beer & Wine Garden, and The Valley Cork.

The key reason to stay for the night though is Hawksbill Brewing Company. Since Day One, Hawksbill has been devoted to working with local farmers and beekeepers to showcase the freshest ingredients and to support their community’s small agricultural businesses. Their motto: “Grown Here, Brewed Here.”

“Sometimes after a great weekend – one where we have lots of guests and great weather – we take a minute to realize how lucky

we are to be doing this,” shared Jim Turner, who along with brewer David Sours co-owns and operates the brewery. “Like everyone else in the brewing industry and hospitality as a whole, there have been some real challenges over the last couple of years. We’ve made it through and now we’re looking forward to strengthening our commitment to the Luray community and continued growth.” I recently caught up with Jim and David to learn more about Hawksbill’s success.

VCB: How has Hawksbill Brewing Co. evolved since opening in 2017?

Jim Turner: Our early days were focused on surviving as a startup brewery – we managed to survive all of that and Covid-19, too. Our focus has evolved. Now, part of what we concentrate on is adding to the downtown experience of Luray. We’ve evolved to be one of the hospitality anchor points in town and now our branding reflects a local feel and builds off of our firm roots in the community. We strive to be the brewery where anyone local or visitor can pull up a chair and enjoy a quality drinkable pint of

beer. Along with that, we’ve grown more comfortable with taking risks and releasing new recipes. Gone are the days when our brewer experimented with the pilot system. Now, we just roll out new beers straight from the main brew kitchen.

VCB: How does your business relationship with local farmers and beekeepers work regarding your sourcing of local ingredients? Do you request certain hop varieties, herbs, fruit, etc. and in specific quantities?

David Sours: Since Covid-19, we haven’t been able to maintain the local sourcing strategy as well as we had hoped. Before Covid-19, we brewed using local berries, honey, pumpkin, jalapeños, and even some foraged persimmon. Locally grown hops simply aren’t available in the quantities we need – we’d love to support that industry if we could, since our interest started with a hopyard, too. It’s something we’ll revisit as we all get past the lingering Covid-19 impacts.

VCB: What are your three most popular beers in regular rotation currently?

Jim Turner: Our three most popular beers are: Haymaker Cream Ale, Hooray for Luray IPA, and Runnin’ Red Lights. We try to keep them on tap year-round, along with our Brown Cow Stout.

VCB: Can you share some of the seasonal beers you have on tap that visitors will be able to enjoy exclusively at the brewery this spring and early summer?

David Sours: As we transition to the warmer weather, we’ll bring on some refreshing ales - these will be full-size, 5-barrel batches: Mile Marker 8 (a Belgian White), 7 Days a Wheat (watermelon wheat), and a farmhouse ale that we are still developing. We’re going to bring back a Mexican Lager around Memorial Day, and speaking of lagers, we currently have a Schwarzbier on called Bearfence Black Lager.

VCB: What percentage of customers would you estimate are locals compared to visitors either seeking out Luray Caverns/Skyline Drive or exploring breweries across the Commonwealth?

Jim Turner: It’s no mystery that we benefit from our proximity to Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park, and we get a lot of traffic from those visitors. Besides those destinations, the Luray and Page County area offers opportunities to enjoy the scenery and outdoor recreation. There is a strong destination wedding industry here, and we have several events related to the Luray Triathlon – so tourism is a foundation of the business. We have a strong connection to the community, too, and that keeps us going during the winter.

VCB: What is your busiest season of the year?

Jim Turner: When we first started out, we figured that the summer would be our busiest time. That’s definitely when we’re making hay at Hawksbill Brewing. But surprisingly, fall foliage season, October and November, have emerged over the last couple of years as our strongest months. We usually have beautiful weather then and there isn’t an open seat available outside in the beer garden!

Beltway U. Closes the Doors for the Last Time

Abrewery is not meant to be a quiet place. A brewery should be filled with a cacophony of sounds from forklifts moving pallets of grain to water hoses washing down floors, canning lines filling cans with beer, and kegs being moved into the cold room. Brewers and assistants yelling, laughing, cursing and cajoling. Supplies being delivered and product going out the door, day after day, until suddenly…it isn’t.

Reached by phone in his office at Beltway Brewing Company after that last weekend open and more than a decade in business, Sten Sellier seems to be really unsettled by the unnatural quiet of the brewery around him.

“Yeah, it kind of feels like that,” he said, when I asked if he was waiting for zombies to come running around a corner at any moment.

But the legacy of Beltway isn’t that unnatural quiet. The legacy of the place that has been kiddingly and seriously referred to as Beltway U., the Beltway Brewing University, is the folks who worked there and went on to continue to be big parts of the beer industry. You know their names. You recognize their faces. Especially in Northern Virginia, they continue to brew and sell good beer.

Whether a young person at the beginning of their beer career, like Bridgette Turner, who started as a bartender in the tasting room and later moved on to brew at breweries like Solace Brewing Company in Sterling,

VA, or an experienced brewer like Kristi Griner, who worked at Capitol City Brewing Company in Arlington and didn’t want to lug around bags of grain any more and was ready to do some sales and consulting. Old or young, grizzled veteran or eager whippersnapper, folks passed through to learn new skills while starting their careers in the industry or to simply earn a paycheck while putting in good work at a company known to feel like a family.

Sten welcomed them all and in the process impacted many people in a lot of positive ways, and that is why so many folks inside the industry and out will really miss Beltway.

In no particular order, the list of folks who worked at Beltway and the names of places they worked at before or after include Erik Peterson (Forge, House 6), Sasha Kingry Gregory (Solace, Mustang Sally), Jeremy Hunt (Dogfish Head, Deep Ellum, Wort Hog, Waters End), Jonathan Reeves (Port City, Jailbreak), Kenny Allen (Old Dominion, Old Ox, Mustang Sally, True Respite), Drew Perry (Double Nickel), Favio Garcia (Bardo, Richbrau,

Old Dominion, Lost Rhino, Dynasty), Michelle McHugh (Union), Ryan Murphy (Lagunitas, Mustang Sally), Brian Stanley (Weeping Radish), Drew Wiles (Solace), and more. So many folks that Sten has trouble remembering them all, especially in the aftermath of the last weekend ending in an emotionally charged Saturday night with many friends and industry folk on hand to say goodbye.

So, what now? First up a possible auction of the brewery’s equipment and supplies, although the potential exists for a deal on the entire brewery and its contents.

Sten himself? He doesn’t know beyond just wanting to take a break and have some time to process it all. The brewery has been a major part of his life for 12 years. Beforehand he worked in designing and selling material handling systems, a background that made getting into brewing feel like a fish jumping into water, a natural fit. Time will tell if the next transition will feel as natural, but with his skill set, confidence is high that Sten will do well, no matter what path he chooses.

Belgian Beers Are Here to Stay

Belgium’s array of classic styles have become mainstays in Virginia’s craft beer scene

The origins of beer have long been sought out and debated. Some beerstorians pinpoint ancient Mesopotamia as the original brewhouse of barley-based beer, while others claim earlier fermentations of different cereal grains around the world as beer’s true parentage. But in tracing the lineage of Virginia’s favorite beverage, one would be remiss to omit Belgium.

Belgium is responsible for a wealth of beer styles that have stood the test of time. From the Abbey ales brewed in monasteries to the farmhouse ales that hydrated field laborers, many styles that are now commonplace in the craft beer scene trace their roots back to the Northwestern European country.

“Belgian beers are some of the most complex beers out there,” said Brian Nelson, brewmaster at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery in Richmond. “When I think of Belgian beers, a lot of it is looking at the old Trappist ales – your Chimay, Duvel, Leffe, Rocquefort, those types of beers that are really complex. They put out their single, double, triple and quad; those amount to various levels of flavor and alcohol. Using the Belgian yeast is very exclusive to those beers and makes them what they are.”

From Trappist styles like the double and triple to farmhouse favorites like the saison, Nelson and his Hardywood team have produced nearly every style of Belgian beer popular today – and a few others from deeper in the history books. The Hardywood Singel was Hardywood’s first flagship brew and remains the brewery’s homage to the lesser-known member of the Trappist monk quartet. Other offerings such as Hardywood’s Peach Tripel, Virginia Blackberry White Ale and Cuvee Peach offer moderns spin on classic Belgian profiles. Recently, Hardywood bottled a barrel-aged Flander’s Red – a Belgian sour style that draws comparisons to red wine – that took five years from start to finish, a timeline typical for a style that dates back to the 19th century.

Even with such an array of styles, however, beer drinkers can expect commonalities across the Belgian beer spectrum. Most Belgians offer a range of signature esters and/or phenols, compounds that provide their unique flavor and aroma profiles. Driven by yeast native to the original brewers of those styles, esters can impart fruity qualities like apple, banana and pear, while phenols provide more spicy characteristics like clove. Navigating the spectrum between those flavor profiles is a study in both the art and science of brewing.

“You can’t fake a Belgian beer with a California ale strain,” Nelson added.

Through the manipulation of variables including fermentation temperature, tank pressure and treatment of the style-specific yeast, brewers can produce a range of different beers from a single Belgian yeast. Even older brewing techniques that were standard to the original Belgian breweries – like prolonged aging, wild fermentation and generational yeast propagation – are still in the repertoire of today’s brewers seeking to replicate those brews.

Luckily, seekers of quality Belgian-style beer in Virginia aren’t limited to the corked imports on store shelves. Belgian beers have become staple offerings for many of Virginia’s breweries, and with good reason. Ranging from light to dark, from sessionable to strong, from spicy to fruity, their versatility complements the array of IPAs and stouts that often dominate taproom lineups. Their complexity provides a rich beer-drinking experience in a single pint, and styles like saison and wit offer brewers a playground for experimentation.

“We do a process where we knock out the fermentation at a lower temperature and then let it free rise to bring out those esters slowly,” Nelson said of Hardywood’s Belgian brews. “You can’t do it all at once. It has to work up to that temperature so you hit those spots along the way during different portions of fermentation.”

Nelson also noted that, like the original Trappist breweries, Hardywood recycles the yeast from its Singel fermentations through generations, which can change the flavor profile over time as the yeast evolves. But, for all the evolutions to the craft beer scene and the trends that shape the market, Belgian beers have proven they are here to stay.

A Guide to Belgian Beer Styles

Single (aka singel):

Sessionable Trappist-style ale. Pale in color and low in alcohol. Light, crisp and dry, with fruity notes. Uncommon offering outside of Trappist monasteries.

Double (aka dubbel):

Medium-bodied Trappiststyle ale. Amber or dark in color with medium to high alcohol content. Wellcarbonated with notes of dark fruit such as raisins, figs and plum. Example: Blue Mountain Evil 8.

Triple (aka tripel):

Deceptively strong Trappiststyle ale. Pale in color and high in alcohol. Highly carbonated and light on the palate with spicy and/or fruit notes. Example: Lickinghole Creek Three Chopt Tripel.

Quad (aka Belgian dark strong ale):

Strong Trappist-style ale. Dark amber to brown in color, and high in alcohol. Full-bodied and malty with notes of dark fruit. ABV can climb into double digits.

Example: Adroit Theory All I

See is Carrion and Alewerks Brewing Company’s Jubilee.

Saison:

Farmhouse ale. Often pale in color but can range into amber. Alcohol content can range from sessionable to high. Highly carbonated and refreshing. May sometimes be brewed with adjuncts like fruit, herbs or spices.

Examples: The Veil Brewing Melancholia and Smartmouth Brewing Company Alter Ego Saison.

Belgian Blond Ale: Lighter golden ale with signature Belgian fruity-spicy complexity and medium ABV. Yeast and malt driven with a dry finish. Examples: Three Roads Brewing Lemongrass Blonde and Great Valley Farm Brewery and Winery’s Belgian Blonde

Belgian Pale Ale:

Balanced, easy-drinking and ranging in color from amber to copper. Hops are a noteworthy contributor to flavor and aroma, though not the star of the show. Example: Hardywood Singel.

Witbier (aka wit):

Wheat-based beer, translated as “white beer.” Pale in color and cloudy in appearance. Complex with herbal, spicy and sometimes peppery characteristics. May also impart orangey or citrus notes and may be brewed with spices like coriander.

Examples: Port City Optimal Wit and Ornery Beer Company Down Wit It.

Lambic: Sour wheat-based beer. Typically yellow to gold in appearance. Characterized by its acidity, Brettanomyces “funk” and low carbonation.

Example: The Veil Brewing Closer Glimpse.

Flanders (aka Flanders Red):

Sour beer. Characterized by its reddish-brown color and fruitiness, akin to red wine. Flavor characteristics include black cherries, oranges, plums and red currants.

Example: Triple Crossing Brewing Without End.

Studly Brewing Opens with Home Run

If you’re a baseball fan, chances are as good as the Astros winning another World Series you’re gonna love Chesapeake’s newest craft beer maker, Studly Brewing Company.

Since Studly’s opening day in midDecember, local residents have been streaming in for a beer as good as the Great American Pastime itself.

Everything inside and out of the brewery smacks of baseball. As you approach the opening gate (front door), you’ll notice a picnic table-like structure on the outdoor patio with three bases (1st, 2nd and 3rd), along with a home plate, serving as seats. The table top features a pitcher’s mound plate, balls and bats.

Once inside, you’ll notice a Locker Room setup for Studly Brewing merchandise such as shirts and caps. Directly ahead is an inning-by-inning scoreboard, plus a dugout section of seats and tables. Aesthetically speaking, it’s like

being at a ballpark sports pub.

As for the beers, Studly’s starting lineup of brews includes its At The Wall Red Ale (which seems to be batting 1000 with locals so far, 6.4% ABV), Pinch Runner Pale Ale (6.4% ABV), Crow Hop IPA (4.8% ABV), Pitcher’s Big Butt Stout (6.5% ABV), Blondie Peffercorn Blonde Ale (5.1% ABV), and The Great Vanilla Bean-O Vanilla Porter (8.5% ABV).

Studly team owner Blake Edmunds wears most of the hats: he brews the beers, oversees all the operations from the concession kitchen, manages the service staff, and merchandise. He’s also in the “front office” as general manager and brand manager. And does he ever know brand management. Studly won a national Crushie Award for its logo/brand design before the brewery even served its first beer.

Following a 15-year career in college and minor league sports promotions, Edmunds opted for a trade during the

pandemic, turning a homebrew hobby into a well-planned field of dreams in the beer business with his home field advantage being in Chesapeake, not too far from his Hickory High School alma mater.

Customer experience, for Blake Edmunds, is as important as the quality of the beer, pizza, and salads he serves.

“We’re all about selling the Studly experience,” he said. “When people who have family coming to town and want to go out to dinner, we want the first place that pops into their head to be Studly Brewing Company. It’s all about the experience, the service, and the theme.”

Edmunds put in the work to up his game as a legit brewer, studying with Tom Hennessey in Montrose, Colorado. Hennessey taught Edmunds the dos and don’ts on the business side as well.

“Being with him and training in Colorado gave me the confidence to come back here and open a brewery in Chesapeake,” Edmunds said.

His work history in minor league sports instilled the value of giving fans a memorable time.

“In sports, I really focused on the experience of a fan coming to a game,” he said. “It starts from when they get out of their car and walk up to the stadium; the ticket-takers and concessioners; the bathroom experience. The only thing I couldn’t control as a marketer was the performance on the field.”

From the start, Edmunds wanted to operate as a brewpub and serve food — his own. As he previously stated regarding the control of a fan’s experience, Edmunds didn’t want to rely on food trucks as his food service. What if a food truck couldn’t show up on a busy Saturday or if a food truck operator was having a bad day and cussed-out a loyal customer? That would have resulted in a negative experience, and that would not represent the Studly brand.

For food, Studly specializes in a delicious pizza and I was keen to try some.

On my visit, I enjoyed a zesty pepperoni made with whole milk mozzarella, organic tomato sauce from California, and lots of small spicy pepperonis. To add to the spice, a heated drizzle of honey is like icing on the pie, or a Cy Young winning pitcher in relief at the end of a game. I also like a crispy thin crust and crunchy outer/rim crust and this pizza was made perfectly to my preference.

Other pizza options include a cheese pizza and Margherita. From way out in Left Field, try the Rundown (with olive oil, sliced dill pickles, bacon crumbles and ranch dressing) or Figley Field (goat cheese, red onion, bacon, prosciutto, and a tasty fig spread).

It wouldn’t be baseball without hotdogs and Studly prefers Nathan’s. You can also order a Bavarian pretzel served with mustard and beer cheese for dipping.

Salads include a classic Caesar and wedge version with veggie additions.

In his first at-bat, Blake Edmunds has hit a home run to give Team Studly an early lead, and the hometown crowd is cheering.

Escape to Everleigh for Beer and Cider Too

In 2015, Barbara and Joe Evers planted vines on their vast land in beautiful Mineral, Virginia with eyes set on realizing their ambitions to produce top quality wine from grapes grown in Louisa County’s rich soil. Now, Everleigh Vineyards has expanded its homegrown family business to include the production of beer and cider.

While the boutique winery had already been offering beers from other local breweries in its own unique, newly constructed two-story tasting room, in December of 2022, they began serving their own brews produced by the couples’ son Ryan.

“We started exploring the idea of a brewery once we came to the realization that having beer would allow us to provide a quality beverage for most anyone who would walk through our doors,” said Barbara Evers.

Ryan had previously explored homebrewing beer with his father Joe and other siblings and also was afforded the opportunity to learn how to produce on a larger scale when making cider.

Since the brewery is fairly new, their flagship beers aren’t determined just yet,

but Barbara says that old world styles are a big part of their beer and cider production.

“Old world influences are fairly strong with what we plan on producing when it comes to the beer and cider. Traditional styles such as pilsners and brown ales that also have a bit of a new twist here and there. Newer styles that have come to prominence in recent years will, of course, also make appearances on our tap list so we’re hoping for a fun and refreshing mix of products here.”

So far the brewery has produced several beers and ciders including a Helles style lager, a dry cider made with Wickson crab apples, and a brown ale. They also plan to have seasonal beers.

The brewery and cidery sources some of their ingredients locally including apples from Silver Creek Orchards in Tyro, Virginia, but they also get malts and hops from suppliers such as BSG. They do have plans to eventually grow their own barley on their farm and are working on sourcing local malt as well.

If you want eats to go along with their craft brews, food trucks are regularly on hand to provide sustenance for sippers

and swillers, but they also offer some small plate options as well. Charcuterie boards, hummus plates, pretzels, and other small snacks are available in the tasting room.

Everleigh offers opportunities for hosting private events, but visitors can pop in for their organized public events as well, including the likes of oyster roasts and live music.

As for the name of the vineyard, cidery, and brewery that is a perfect rural escape, Barbara gave some insight.

“Everleigh is a sort of play on words here, my husband is a practicing physician who has also taken on the responsibility of opening a small business in what free time he has.
