Experience Abu Dhabi has launched limited-edition fashion apparel t-shirts bringing together the worlds of football, fashion, and culture, in a collaboration with Manchester City Football Club and sportswear brand PUMA. This is the latest activation, as part of Experience Abu Dhabi’s partnership with Manchester City, fusing culture and sport to produce this exclusive fashion drop designed to appeal to fans and fashion enthusiasts. The unique designs pay homage to the passion of football and act as a canvas for cultural expression, using fashion to harmoniously blend sport with Abu Dhabi's rich heritage. The apparel, designed by Emirati artist Thikra Alsuwaidi, was launched in the presence of star players Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Ederson and Mateo Kovacic from the Premier League team at the ‘City Store’ by PUMA in Abu Dhabi’s Yas Mall. The space is also home to “City Challenge”, an interactive experience, offering immersive, football-themed activities and challenges.

Artist Alsuwaidi, who is part of DCT Abu Dhabi’s Strategic Marketing & Communications department, works across various mediums, including digital art, illustration, sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, photography, and printmaking, and her work is often infused with the UAE's rich cultural references, as seen in this limited collection. The design of the shirt presents Abu Dhabi as an open door to the world, inspired by the traditional door designs prevalent in the UAE and wider region, enriched by a variety of cultural elements. These include the intricate patterns of Gahwa (Arabic coffee) cups; the traditional craft of Al-Sadu weaving; the distinctive handcrafted Burqa’a; the tranquil palm trees of Al Ain Oasis; and the mesmerising waves of the shoreline. Additionally, the design incorporates elements of Talli embroidery; traditional wall decorations. Each element is a nod to Abu Dhabi’s rich cultural heritage. It also features design elements meaningful to Manchester City, including the club’s formation date, the red rose of Lancaster, and one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history: Sergio Aguero's goal at 93 minutes and 20 seconds which clinched a historic League title for Manchester City on 13 May 2012.
