Holes successfully drilled Marti Will WITS GOLD has successfully completed an initial three borehole geotechnical drilling programme for the positioning of shafts at its advanced DBM Project in the Southern Free State Goldfields.

Drilling commenced during October and was completed on time and budget, with a total of 1 918 metres of diamond core drilled at a cost of R2,4 million.

This drilling programme, as part of the DBM final Feasibility Study, aimed to obtain geotechnical data with respect to underground conditions through which the shafts would traverse, as well as to detect possible hazardous flammable gas and water occurrences.

All objectives of the drilling programme were achieved. The first borehole (DWN 35) intersected the Leader Reef within 12 metres of its subcrop against the Karoo Unconformity, accurately locating the position of the subcrop.

As a result of this the main

and ventilation shaft locations could be optimally positioned beyond the subcrop in order for the shaft pillar areas not to sterilise any of the shallow mineral reserve.

Two subsequent boreholes were then drilled at the proposed shaft positions to depths greater than the planned shaft bottoms of 660 metres below surface.

Independent specialist geotechnical studies conducted during this drilling found that rock conditions range from very good to fair, implying that normal shaft sinking rates can be applied.

“None of the boreholes drilled encountered flammable gas or a significant influx of water,” says Phillip Kotze, Wits Gold chief executive officer.

Drilling activities by Wits Gold at the DBM Project have been conducted under the supervision of Dirk Muntingh (M.Sc. Geology), the Company’s Qualified Person and Exploration Manager. He is a registered Pr.Sci.Nat with SACNASP and has over 20 years of experience in gold

exploration.

Surface geotechnical studies are currently underway for plant infrastructure establishment, while environmental studies continue on schedule in terms of the requirements of the Company’s accepted Mining Rights Application.

Detailed design on shafts and related infrastructure at the DBM Project is on track to take place towards mid2013, while mine development is expected to commence during the first half of 2014.

“The successful outcome of this current drilling programme continues to highlight the merits of developing a mine at DBM, where it is anticipated to create more than 1 000 new employment opportunities for people in the region.

“Our new development, along with the company’s anticipated social and labour plan commitments in terms of its Mining Right Application, will give a new lease of life to this renowned gold mining district,” says Kotze.

THE De Bron/Merriespruit Project (DBM) area comprises a block measuring 22 km², located between the main Welkom Goldfields to the north and the Beatrix and Joel gold mines to the south. These are operated by Gold Fields and Harmony.

The DBM Project area contains four gold bearing conglomerates.

These are the Beatrix, Kalkoenkrans, B and Leader Reefs, all of which occur at the relatively shallow depths of between 480 m and 1 250 m below surface.

Following the completion of the Pre-feasibility Study (PFS) in July 2012, Wits Gold announced that international consultant Royal Haskoning DHV (RHDHV) and MDM Engineering (MDM) were appointed to complete the final Feasibility Study for the DBM Project. RHDHV will be responsible for the detailed mine and associated infrastructure designs, while MDM will focus on the metallurgical plant and related design aspects. The detailed study is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2013. DBM will be a shallow underground mine comprising a vertical twin shaft system to 660 metres, with average gold production expected to be 200 000 oz per year over 18 years.

Sewage Briewe etters L problem continues EDDIE DE LANGE, Cactus Street, Welkom: I AM at my wits end. Just what must I do to get the municipality to come and pump the manholes in Cactus Street so that the sewage does not flow into my yard?

We are going to approach the Supreme Court and get a court order against the municipality and also going to charge them for all costs.

I cannot live like this. If you people would only make some concerted attempt to sort out this matter it would at least be some comfort, but I now really believe you do not give (excuse the pun!) a S**T! I will wait until 14:00 on 18 December 2012.

Then, no more talking or licking butt. . The problem in Cactus Street has been ongoing since the end of November 2010.

Preceding correspondence between De Lange and the municipality over the past two weeks started as follows: Dear Municipal Fathers, Provincial Authorities and Government Health Officials, the attached blocked manhole photos of my sewage system has been a problem for two years now.

At first, when reminded, you pumped regularly. Now even when I plea to three, four different people I get no response. Living under these conditions is no joke. Does anyone of you care? I cannot believe that you do. Must I now turn to the justice system to get any action out of you?

I demand a reply from you within 24 hours or else I must go ahead and do what must be done. I am not threatening anyone, I am making a promise.

Then followed various emails flying between the different municipal departments and De Lange, including: To Paul (Paul Ramalatso). Mr De Lange’s address is 19 Cactus

Street, Doorn, Welkom. The customer is complaining about sewage flooding on his stand.

Apparently this is an ongoing problem that has been attended to on several occasions without finding a permanent solution.

Photos are attached. The client is contemplating to take legal action. Could you please urgently attend to this problem and draw up a plan for a permanent solution to the problem.

This was followed by: A response from the Water Section regarding 19 Cactus Street is as follows. Pumping shall resume any minute from now to bypass sewerage from one manhole to the next one as the honey sucker is still not repaired at the workshop. Cactus shall be controlled this way until we receive the honey sucker back. Hope you find it in order.

Then De Lange was informed that his complaint had been escalated to the Technical Services Directorate for urgent attention, and: “I am glad to inform you that your complaint will be attended to soon. We have a problem with our honey sucker machine which was sent to the workshop for repairs. However, until it comes back we will bypass sewage from one manhole to another to reduce the levels. I trust that this will ameliorate the problem.

And so the correspondence continued, but to no avail. Even De Lange’s suggestion that an external civil engineer be approached, was met with red tape.

Answer: “You are welcome, Sir. Yes, there are ways and means to open the blockage which in fact include your suggestion of having it done externally if we do not have the internal capacities.

“However, the relevant department has to liaise with the Supply Chain Management on that. Your email will be forwarded to the Technical Services Department for consideration.”

– And now, two weeks later, still nothing has been done and De Lange will now turn to the courts for a satisfactory end to his dilemma – Ed.

Need help with garbage TEBOHO MOHLAKOANA, Phahameng, Mmamahabane, Ventersburg: I HAVE written to the office of the Public Protector to help me with the issue of a garbage container near my home which is constantly filled with garbage which is then subsequently set alight. The evidence is there day and night, even today as I write this letter.

I need Vista’s help. The dumping site is located inside Phahameng, Mmamahabane.

This matter is already in the hands of the office of the Public Protector in Bloemfontein for investigation. The municipality says the situation here is not as I have described it when the office of the Public Protector enquired about the situation.

To this day the municipality has done nothing to address my concern, there is no waste removal. The municipality has failed me. I have complained about the big municipal garbage container numerous times which has been turned into a dumping site near my residence.

Die wit Toyota Corolla voor my het oor die stuke hout gery, dit het opgeskiet en my Polo erg beskadig (sien foto). Niemand aanvaar verantwoordelikheid vir die skade nie behalwe my versekering. Daarom vra ek dat almal asseblief moet dubbel seker maak wanneer hul iets vervoer dat dit stewig vas is.

What prompted me to write this letter is the recent revelation by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF)’s study; about 22% of the youth in the Free State were having sex for the first time between the ages of 14 and 16, while 10% experienced sex before the age of 14, mostly without condoms.

It emerged from the study that 38% of the young people in the province learned about sex from friends, while 19% got information from television or other media.

SAPS celebrates Christmas MEMBERS of the Welkom Police recently gathered to celebrate Christmas with a Carols by Candlelight ceremony.

Hymns were sung and some members shared their testimonies as to how the Lord has helped them individually. Those present also said prayers for crime reduction and for the police men and women who would be fighting crime over the fes-

tive season.

“Joyful songs were sung and it was clear that the power of God was in the midst of the members,” said Capt Stephen Thakeng, programme director.

The reverend, WO Frans Vermaak, opened the event with a prayer. Both Capt Thakeng and Rev Vermaak delivered Scripture readings.

Matilda Motsoeneng prayed for cri-

me reduction during this festive season and WO Theressa Oberholzer prayed for police members and their families. “Many who attended were touched by the power of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord be praised for this wonderful service that was held at the Welkom Police Station,” says Thakeng.

“Teen die einde van September 2012 was daar 77 mynsterftes in vergelyking met 91 in die ooreenstemmende tyd verlede jaar, maar teen 22 November 2012 is ons meegedeel die sterftes in myne het al op sowat 95 gestaan.”

Arrested for fake horn A 46-year-old Malawian man was nabbed for possessing a fake rhino horn at Ventersburg.

The man was among the passengers of a commercial bus that was stopped during the roadblock that was conducted on the N1 by the SAPS Thabong Cluster and the Provincial Traffic Department.

Sgt Wessel Bernardo entered the bus and requested all passengers to alight the bus. He was standing on the driver’s seat when he noticed one of the male passengers sitting at the back hiding something underneath the seat.

He waited for him to come towards the door, stopped him and took him back to the seat.

They searched underneath the seat and found a parcel wrapped with brown paper.

The man said the parcel belonged to him.

The parcel was unwrapped and a rhino horn was found. The Organised Crime Unit and other experts were summoned to the scene and they discovered that the rhino horn was a fake. It was also discovered that the fake rhino horn was destined for Cape Town where it was going to be sold to a Chinese client.

The Malawian man was arrested on the scene and the fake horn was confiscated by the police. He will be charged for conspiracy to commit a crime. It was also discovered that his visum has expired which led the police to arrest him for being an illegal immigrant too.

ODENDAALSRUS se 100ste bestaansjaar is Donderdag luisterryk op dié dorp gevier.

Gedenkmure is onthul en 200 palmbome gaan geplant word om die woonbuurt Kutlwanong met die dorp te verbind. ’n Vliegvertoning, valskermspringers, dansgroepe en kore was deel van die feesviering.

Die uitvoerende burgemeester van Matjhabeng, Sebenzile Ngangelizwe, het ’n oorsig oor die geskiedenis van die dorp gegee. Hy het gesê ’n mylpaal was toe die Matjhabengmunisipaliteit tot stand gekom het wat al ses die Goudveldse dorpe in een munisipaliteit saamgesnoer het.

“Die plaaslike ekonomie het talle uitda-

gings oorbrug en lewer steeds ’n belangrike bydrae tot die ekonomiese welvaart van die Vrystaat,” het hy gesê.

Matjhabeng beoog om binne die volgende drie tot vier jaar groot verbeterings in Kutlwanong aan te bring.

Straatligte, plaveisel, die verbetering van paaie en die aanplant van bome sal voorkeur kry.

As deel van die eeufeesviering gaan die Nasional Mynwerkersunie (NMU) ’n monument ter nagedagtenis aan mynwerkers wat in mynongelukke dood is by die biblioteek op die dorp oprig.

Die munisipaliteit van Matjhabeng het die terrein aan die NMU geskenk.

Donderdag 20 Desember 2012 THE Kganya Youth Club entertained and gave gifts to the senior citizens of Ward 26, Thabong, from Mmat­ sa Street to Nkwane Road. The event is to bridge the intergene­ rational gap and in fu­ ture the group would like to cater to a total of 911 senior citizens.

THE South African Police and various stakeholders, including the residents, took part in the 16 Days of Activism celebrations in Odendaalsrus.

Guest speakers from Odendaalsrus Correctional Services, Kutloanong Rehabilitated Ex- Offender, Odendaalsrus Victim Empowerment, Odendaalsrus SAPS and People Living with Disability attended and addressed the residents.

Residents were encouraged to report incidents of crime to the Odendaalsrus SAPS for further investigation.

The event took place at Fun Park Block 1 in Sector 4 Kutloanong Odendaalsrus, which is led by Const. Nomthandazo Mtengwane.

Capt. Modisana Wa Semela addressed the residents about sexual offences and how women can protect themselves against the said crimes.

He emphasized that men are not put aside, but they must also report incidents of abuse against them to the SAPS. Semela concluded by appreciating residents who are reporting criminal activities as they have led to quite a number of arrests.

Isaac Vani, who is the deputy chairperson of the Odendaalsrus Community Policing Forum, encouraged residents to report crime to the SAPS and further says people must be witnesses at the court to ensure that perpetrators of crimes in society could be found guilty and that the perpetrators will face the might of the law.

“Whistle-blowing against crime must be

encouraged. Do not look away when crime is committed,” said Vani.

The junior station commander of Odendaalsrus, Andiswa Dikana, was the programme director and she discouraged young people from been involved in criminal activities. She said young people must use liquor responsibly this festive season.

Aaron Matsitsa from Kutloanong Rehabilitated Ex-Offender spoke about life in prison and continued to tell residents that crime does not pay. He advised the youth in particular not to be involved in criminal activities. Matsitsa spoke as a rehabilitated offender.

Mosele Nthako, who is living with disability, gave a brief motivation to residents and discouraged crimes committed to other people especially people living with a disability.

She further said residents had to be patient when a person living with a disability is boarding a taxi.

Johannes Mohapi, who is under Correctional Supervision, discouraged criminal activities.

So it was a common denominator among all the speakers that crime does not pay and residenst were discouraged about crime.

There were sporting codes like netball and soccer.

Const. Mtengwane, the Sector 4 manager, thanked everybody who attended and in particular the guest speakers from different departments.

DIE Dierebeskermingsvereniging (DBV) op Virginia het ’n oorvloed aan honde en katte.

“Dié tyd van die jaar is so onaangenaam. Mense versorg nie hul diere nie en ons hokke is tot oorlopens toe vol,“ sê Thea Smit van die DBV. Van die diere wat huise soek, is dié wit labrador (met ’n swart kol op die rug), die miniatuur­pincher en die wit malteser.

Die DBV het ’n groot verskeidenheid katte en klein katjies wat wag om iemand se maat­ jie te wees. Om een van die troeteldiere of een van die baie ander diere wat in die DBV­hokke is aan te neem bel die DBV op Virginia by 057­217­4473 (kantoor) en in nood­ gevalle 082­551­1163. EK staan in ’n bekende supermark in die ry om gehelp te word. Voor my staan twee omies en hulle is hard aan die gesels oor die gemors wat in ons land gebeur – net negatiewe dinge word bespreek.

Hulle is vol wrokke, haat en nyd teenoor alles wat gebeur. Die een omie bevraagteken God – hy sê hy wonder waar is God dan in krisistye. Ek wou so graag vir hom ’n antwoord hierop gegee het, maar ek was nie deel van hul gesprek nie – dankie tog daarvoor, want niemand mag God bevraagteken nie – God skuld ons nie ’n antwoord nie . . . Psalm115:3 – En dit terwyl ons God in die Hemel is, alles wat Hy wil, doen Hy. Uit ondervinding het ek geleer dat mense in krisistye lief is om God te bevraagteken. Baie mense vra: “Hoe kan God ’n God van liefde wees as Hy toelaat dat duisende mense van honger omkom, dat mense daagliks vermoor en verkrag word, dat onreg en haat, bitterheid en woede in ons land hoogty vier. Hoekom moet ons boet vir ’n swak regering waar daagliks bedrog gepleeg en onmin gesaai word?

Hoekom word ons deur ’n regering geregeer wat ons belastingbetalers se geld misbruik vir hul eie gewin? Waar is God dan? wonder baie mense. Hoekom doen Hy nie iets aan die toedrag van sake nie?

Ons kan God nie meet aan ons aardse standaarde van reg en regverdigheid nie. God is oneindig groot en wonderlik. Hy is in die hemel en alles wat Hy wil doen, doen Hy. Hy hoef aan niemand enige verduideliking te gee van Sy dade nie. In Sy wet stel Hy vir ons standaarde vir ons menslike gedrag, want Hy is ver daarbo verhewe.

Daar is op die oomblik in die gesprekke van baie Christene in ons land ’n ongekende moedeloosheid oor die toekoms. Mense wat die toekoms vrees, is ook vinnig om sommer te wil tou opgooi, om planne te beraam om ons pragtige vasteland te verlaat, om almal te vertel dat dit vorentoe net slegter kan gaan, dat ons vir altyd tot siens sal moet sê aan die besittings en die geriewe waaraan ons so gewoond geraak het. In die huidige landsituasie kan ons ons alte goed met die woorde van Paulus in 2 Korintiërs 1-8 vereenselwig. Soms gaan dit inderdaad met ons so moeilik dat dit regtig vir ons voel asof ons die hoop om te bly lewe kan

Foundation needs help TEBOHO MAHAMANE and her friends are running a non-profit foundation called the Disebo Cancer Foundation in honour of the late Disebo Mahamane and everyone that has lost their lives to cancer. They will be collecting old clothes, toys and non-perishable food to give out to the less fortunate on 25 December to celebrate Christmas. On Christmas Day they will be visiting the maternity and children’s ward of the Bongani Hospital and the Thabong location to give away toys, food and old clothes to the less privileged. More opportunities Marti Will THE MEC of Economic Development and Empowerment in the Free State held a Department of Public Enterprises interaction in Bloemfontein last week relating to pressing economic and development issues in Matjhabeng.

This platform was created by the MEC, Mamiki Qabathe, who brought the Deputy Minister of Public Enterprise, Bulelani Magwanishe, to interact with stakeholders such as women, youth and business in various sessions.

This interaction was attended

by Mirna de Hart (Free State Goldfields (FGF) Chamber of Business president) and Renay van der Berg (executive board member of the FGF Chamber of Business).

“The Department of Public En-

terprises operates a number of programmes to align, integrate and oversee related activities and to benefit from synergies between the State Owned Companies (SOC),” says De Hart. “A discussion ensued that the delegates were frank, based on the State Owned Enterprises, sharing their plans and opportunities for the Free State,” she says.

Eskom, Denel, Broadband Infraco, FDC, DETEA and Transnet were represented and the Deputy Minister indicated that his department will do an assessment on the commitments that were made to bring opportunities to Matjhabeng.

Other issues raised by the Matjhabeng Business community over the past few years were also raised again with positive responses.

“These include service delivery on local levels, infrastructure, railway sidings and capital investment in our area,” says De Hart.

She invited all the parties to come and meet the business community in Matjhabeng early in 2013, especially Eskom.

Van der Berg in turn invited the SOCs to use the chamber as an information point for their tenders, an initiative that was endorsed by the Deputy Minister. Denel and Transnet indicated that they need additional manufacturing output which they could possibly outsource to Matjhabeng.

“Eskom is looking for innovative designs to safeguard their assets in the area and companies who have high-tech security designs are encouraged to interact with the Chamber to facilitate the process,” says De Hart.

After three hours of discussions the MEC thanked the businesswomen for their contribution.

Die program het ondanks ligte reënbuie hope vermaak aan oud en jong verskaf.

Die gehoor was behoorlik warm gesing op die talentkom-

petisie met deelnemers van so ver soos Klerksdorp en Rustenburg.

Die Mnr. en Mej. Hottie-kompetisie het met ’n paar mooi lywe gespog en die laataand-laservertoning was beslis die hoogtepunt van die aand.

TINA TURTLE (Shaun Lynn) het die skare met die talentkompetisie in vervoering gehad. Sy voorstelling van die immergewilde poplegende het aan hom die titel as vermaaklikheidskunstenaar van die Vista & The Strip se Kersfees­fees besorg.

AL was hy nie ’n amptelike deelnemer aan die kunswedstryd nie het Osman Oone die skare met sy moves beïndruk en vermaak. Hy het van die deelnemers se optredes so baie geniet dat hy dit uit die gehoor nage­ boots het. Oone was effe kieskeurig en het net die bestes deelnemers nageaap.

Nuwe Fortuner die ‘outomatiese’ keuse AL meer en meer mense besef die waarde van ’n outomatiese voertuig – niks meer gekarring, koppelaar trap en jouself moeg maak nog voordat jy by jou bestemming is nie.

Toyota het hierby ingespring en ’n outomatiese “intreemodel” by sy alomteenwoordige Fortuner-reeks gevoeg. Die nuwe 2.5, D-4D-outo skuif net bokant die 2.5, D-4D-handrat in wat die bekostigbaarste intreepunt vir Fortuner-eienaarskap is. ’n Baie gekunstelde kragbron is die hartklop van die Fortuner 2.5, D-4D VNT-outo en kan die maksimum verrigting uit ’n suinige viersilinder-enjin tower.

Sy maksimum kraglewering is ’n stewige 106 kW terwyl die wringkragsyfer by dié van die 3.0, D-4D kan kers vashou – ’n allemintige 343 Nm. Die outomatiese viergang-ratkas is dieselfde as wat in die ander diesel-enjins in die reeks gebruik word, en bied soepel kragoordrag reg van laag onder in die toerestrek af. Die

Tyres can save fuel AS South Africans get set for six weeks of increased seasonal travel remember that correctly inflated tyres can save significantly at the pump and even more. It also promotes safety, even tyre wear, enhances ride comfort and it maximises fuel economy.

Lize Hayward, Goodyear Group brand communications manager, said running a tyre just 20% under-inflated could increase fuel consumption by as much as 10%.

“An under-inflated tyre uses more energy, increasing rolling resistance and robbing the vehicle of fuel efficiency. At today’s fuel prices and especially during this holiday season when people generally travel a lot further, 10% is a considerable and unnecessary expense that could be saved by a little more fresh air! As well as being heavy on your pocket, running under-inflated tyres also reduces their tread life which means they will need to be replaced sooner than should be necessary. Plus it can be dangerous. Studies show that up to 87% of all flat tyres have a history of underinflation,” Hayward said.

Statistics also reveal that one in every three cars has at least one under-inflated tyre and, while nearly seven in ten drivers say they wash their vehicles every month, barely more than half check tyre pressure in that period. The majority of drivers (71%) forget to check the pressure in their spare tyre at all.

According to Goodyear, motorists should have their vehicles and tyres inspected at professional tyre and service outlets.

This entails checking all four tyres plus the spare for tread depth and pressure, the front and rear shock absorbers, the brake pads, discs and fluid, the battery, exhaust and wiper blades. Cars to communicate in not too distant future

ENABLING vehicles to communicate with each other, and with the traffic environment, opens up fantastic possibilities.

Vital information can be shared and exchanged – creating a safer and more comfortable drive. This is why the Volvo Car Corporation joined the CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium together with other European automakers and suppliers.

The aim is to have a common platform for CAR 2 CAR communication ready within five years.

“In the future we’ll have advanced exchange of vital information between vehicles such as their position, speed and directi-

The Volvo Car Corporation recently signed a memorandum of understanding with the members of the CAR 2 CAR Communication Consortium regarding the implementation of standardised technology for communication between cars from 2016 onwards.

The aim is for inter-car communication to function between all cars, irrespective of make. Communication takes place via a wireless network (similar to WLAN) and utilises existing systems such as the GPS navigation system.

CAR 2 CAR has been granted a separate frequency so that cars within a given radius are automatically linked together and can exchange information about parameters such as their position, speed and direction.

The installation of transmitters in the road infrastructure, such as road signs and traffic lights, further extends the communication network.

Pannas was betrokke by die afrigting van verskeie sportsoorte en geldinsamelingsprojekte vir die gimnasiumfonds wat hy begin het. Die geld is aangewend om leerlinge se skoolgeld te help betaal. Hy het ’n volledige gimnasium by die skool ingerig.

Op die skool se helde-aande het hy Springbokke soos Gerrie Germishuizen, Breyton Paulse, Clive Ulytte, Toks van der Linde en die junior Bok Eric Herbert as gaste gehad.

Oor die jare heen het hy rugbyspelers geleer om onder meer reg te eet, regte aanvullings te gebruik en hoe om gerehabiliteer te word.

Pannas het verskeie Suid-Afrikaanse judokampioene, junior Springbokke en Springbokke van die Goudveld-Hoërskool afgerig.

PANNAS VOSLOO DIE agtste Bill Odendaal­gholf­ gedenktoernooi is op die Oppen­ heimerpark­ gholfbaan in Welkom aange­ bied. Bykans 40 spelers het aan die toernooi deelgeneem.

Garth Toss het as die algehele wenner uit die stryd getree.

Lerato does part for Celtic Moeti Molelekoa

TENIEL O’HARA, a learner of the St Dominic’s College in Welkom, and her two horses, Welsh Brass and Song Sung Blue, participated in the South African Junior Showjumping Championships held at Kyalami.

On Song Sung Blue she secured the 16th place out of 95 riders in the 1 m second­phase class and on Welsh Brass she received an individual 20th, 21st and 10th place in the 1 m showjumping. Teniel was also part of the Free State and Northern Cape equitation team who received a first place, and the 1 m showjumping team who came second overall. Here is Teniel on Welsh Brass.

LERATO “LOVERS” MANZINI, a Thabong-based Bloemfontein Celtic striker, was born and raised in Thabong and is holding the Matjhabeng flag high in the football fraternity.

Young Manzini has been an integral part of the newly-crowned Telkom Cup Knockout winners. Celtic lies in eight position on the PSL Absa Premier League. He cut his teeth at the Harmony High School. He contributed greatly to the success of Harmony in the Sanlam/Kay Motsepe Cup. The Sanlam/Kay Motsepe Schools Cup is an initiative cofounded by Sanlam and the UbuntuBotho Community and gives away the largest prize money in the history of South African schools soccer.

Any South African high school can take part in this tournament. Learners must be in possession of a green South African identity document and an original birth certificate.

Sanlam and the Motsepe Foundation invest in the growth of soccer because through development and enhancement of youth skills and life skills, it will contribute greatly to South Africa’s future. The prize money is R1 million for the winner.

The school team is coached by Pitso Lekone, former Free State Star’s

Both Abc and his wife, Kay, where teachers and owned several businesses. Patrice is the executive chairman of African Rainbow Minerals. He is also a non-executive chairman of the Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited as well as chairman of Naledi Mining and Future Mining.
