Two brutally shot THE front area of the house where the gruesome killings took place in Extension 15, near Bronville. Teboho Setena ANOTHER gruesome murder of two family members in Extension 15, a new residence adjacent to Bronville in Welkom, has caused panic and outrage in the community. Two family members, Teboho and Thato Dintsha, including a friend, became the latest victims of four trigger-happy gunmen who left a trail of blood, trauma and damage in their wake. The gunmen instantly shot and killed Teboho and Thato in the house in Extension 15, last Friday (16/10). Numerous traces of bullets on the kitchen floor and wall of the lounge depict the gruesome killing on the day. Sgt Mamello Mokhuoane, Thabong police spokesperson, said the deceased had been attacked at about 19:00. She said the assailants were still on the run and urged the public’s assistance in tracing them. “A case of two counts of murder and one case of attempted murder have been
registered at the Bronville police for further investigation,” said Mokhuoane. She said the motive for the killings was unknown. Mokhuoane said the gunmen stormed into the house, shot Teboho (owner of the house) six times in the head. They thereafter fired shots at his sister, Thato, and at Teboho’s girlfriend. Teboho’s girlfriend survived the onslaught and is still fighting for her life in hospital. In the event, Thato tried to flee, but the heartless gunmen killed her by firing at her again. Mokhuoane said Thato’s body had been found in the middle of the street by on-duty police members. She was surrounded by shocked members of the community. A grief-stricken Wali Dintsha, brother of the two deceased, said the family was shocked by the brutal incident. Teboho, who worked in Rustenburg in North-West, came home for a brief holiday. “Both Teboho and Thato were not troublesome people. They were not mixing with friends who would raise suspicions of wrongdoing. Thato was a dedicated church-

goer. We are seeking answers as to why they were killed,” said Wali. He said he was watching a programme on television in the time slot 18:30 to 19:00, when he received a phone call notifying him about the shooting. Shocked neighbours told Vista that the gunmen had fired shots randomly outside to scare off any potential eyewitnesses. “My daughter who was in the bathroom alerted me of the shooting. However, we could not go outside to investigate because we heard gunshots. Most residents came out to inspect when it was quiet and when the police were present. It is very scary around here because there are no high-mast lights. It is easy for criminals to kill and disappear,” said one of the residents, who did not want to be identified. The trio were seemingly also watching television and were about to have dinner when the attackers stormed in and opened fire.
