Young boys targeted SEVERAL incidents of rape involving young boys aged between 10 and 14 are being investigated by the Thabong police. Sgt. Mamello Mokhuoane says young boys living in Bronville who go to school in Thabong are increasingly becoming rape victims. A number of cases have been reported to the Thabong police. The boys are being raped in an open veld near Dismartising and HaMazibuko in Thabong. The rapist or rapists use the same modus operandi. The children use the isolated route to and from school. The boys, who mostly walk alone, are being targeted. “It is alleged that the rapist asks the victims to help look for lost money. When they are alone in the veld, the children are instructed to undress and they are then raped,” says Mokhuoane. On 27 July at about 14:30, a 12-year-old boy was raped in this manner. HENNENMAN verloor ’n staatmakerpolisieman. Kapt. Johan Boshoff, of Bossie soos hy alom bekend staan, het ná 38 jaar en agt maande sy laaste skof as speurderbevelvoerder op dié dorp gewerk. Boshoff, ’n Goudvelder in murg en been, het op Allanridge grootgeword. Hy het hom in 1977 by die polisiediens aangesluit en twee jaar later wonderbaarlik ’n ernstige kopbesering in ’n veldslag in die destydse Bosoorlog oorleef. Sy suster, Annette, ’n saalsuster by 1 Militêre Hospitaal, het haar erg gewonde broer nie herken toe hy in dié hospitaal opgeneem is nie. Sy het wel die ring aan sy vinger herken en besef dit is haar broer wat
sy verpleeg. Boshoff sê hy was ses maande lank in ’n koma en dokters het hom gewaarsku dat hy nooit sal kan studeer nie weens die breinbesering wat hy opgedoen het. Annette en hul pa, Carel, het hom tuis verpleeg. Ná ’n jaar is hy terug polisie toe, waar hy verskeie kursusse gevolg het. Hy het ook die dokters verkeerd bewys en vir ’n regsgraad gestudeer. Ao. Hy en Penelope, sy vrou, is baie lief vir potspel en nou is daar ook genoeg tyd vir dié sportbeoefening. Hy en Penelope het mekaar juis langs die groen tafel ontmoet. Hy hoop ook om met onafhanklike ondersoekwerk mense te kan help, sê hy.
