Lykskouings gestaak Madli Grobbelaar en Alet van der Walt

Lykskouings in die Lejweleputswa-distriksmunisipaliteit is gestaak weens dokters in Welkom wat nie hernude of wettige kontrakte van die departement van gesondheid ontvang het nie. Sonder kontrakte is die betrokke dokters ook nie vir hul dienste die afgelope jaar vergoed nie. Die departement van gesondheid sê dat die dokters nie betaal is nie omdat hulle nie die nuwe kontrakte wou teken nie, maar die kontrakte is eensydig en sonder onderhandeling met die betrokke dokters deur die departement van gesondheid verander.

Kontrakte vir dokters onder verdenking Dr. Willie van Heusden, een van die dokters wat lykskouings in Welkom doen, sê die kontrakte wat vir hulle aangebied is, is onwettig volgens die Suid-Afrikaanse Mediese Vereniging (SAMV) se arbeidskonsultant en prokureurs. Van Heusden en dr. Flip Nieuwoudt doen onderskeidelik vanaf 1979 en 1986 die lykskouings vir die staat. Volgens Van Heusden het dr. Yusuf Vahed, streekhoof van forensiese dienste van die Vrystaatse gesondheidsdepartement, hulle verbied om te werk indien hulle nie

wettige kontrakte van die departement van gesondheid ontvang het nie. Dit verhoog druk vir die doen van lykskouings in Bloemfontein, want die lyke van Welkom moet na Bloemfontein hiervoor geneem word. Dié reëling veroorsaak ook chaos vir familielede wat begrafnisreëlings moet tref, dit belemmer die polisie met die ondersoek van sake en hofsake moet uitgestel word. Die 32 sessies per jaar moet deur drie dokters hanteer word en Van Heusden en Nieuwoudt se nuwe

kontrakte het bepaal dat hulle slegs 20 sessies mag doen. Van Heusden sê egter dat dit onmoontlik is vir twee dokters met 20 sessies om al die lykskouings in die Lejweleputswa-gebied te behartig. Al twee die dokters behartig gemiddeld 870 lykskouings per jaar. Die Bothaville-distrik is ook intussen by die Welkomstaatslykhuis se gebied gevoeg. Vista het Vahed gekontak. poste te vul. Die dokters wat nou daar is, is van die vorige bedeling. Dié poste sal gevul word,” sê Vahed. Op 15 Maart 2016 het Van Heusden en Nieuwoudt kontrakte vir 32 sessies ontvang wat deur die forensiese bestuurder van die Vrystaatse departement van gesondheid, dr. R.J. Khoali, onderteken is. Van Heusden en Nieuwoudt het in November 2016 ’n grief ingestel en dié saak is tans by die Arbeidshof. Die gemeenskap van die Lejwelputswa-distrik word deur dié gesloer benadeel.

Hy is op Dinsdag 11 April in die Life-Rosepark-hospitaal in Bloemfontein oorlede. Oom Jannie (79), soos hy alom bekend gestaan het, het in 1960 ’n Welkomiet geword. Hy het aanvanklik by Incledons begin werk. Hy was ook betrokke by Samkor en Buildersmarket. In die jare 90 het hy en ’n jarelange vriend, Leon Morgenrood, Buildmat begin. Toe oom Jannie in 2014 siek geword het, het hy uitgetree. Dié bekende sakeman, wie se hande vir niks verkeerd gestaan het nie, se stokperdjie was veteraanmotors. Hy was die trotse eienaar van ’n 1928-Chrysler en ’n 1957-John Deere-trekker. Hy en sy vrou, Rita, was 57 jaar lank getroud. Hulle het twee kinders, Johan (56) en Inri (50). Hy word ook deur vier kleinkinders en vier agterkleinkinders oorleef. Die roudiens is Vrydag (21/04) om 12:00 in die NG kerk Welkom-Suid en sal deur dr. Leon Foot gelei word.

Five to appear on a charge of murder to death on Sunday, 2 April, by the five suspects outside C-hostel in Thabong.

The deceased sustained stab wounds to his head and the left side of his chest.

The Thabong police and emergency services were called to the scene by eye-

witnesses. A case of murder was registered for further investigation. The investigations led to the arrest of the five suspects and they were charged with murder.

A case of house robbery is being investigated after three unknown men fell through the roof of a house in Dagbreek. The complainant (29) alleges that he was sleeping in his house on 15 April. At approximately 01:50 he was awakened by a noise coming from the roof. Soon after that three unknown men fell through the roof to the inside of the house. The complainant started to fight with one of them.

One pointed a firearm at him and another one took out a knife and they demanded money. The complainant showed them a shoesbox and told the robbers that it contained money. They took a black sports bag, containing clothes worth R5 000, and a cellphone worth R2 000, and fled the scene. The suspects are still at large. The police are requesting the public to assist them in tracing the robbers. The beautiful and warmhearted Lauralee Castle (35), a Welkomite who was born and bred in the Goldfields, is a semifinalist in the Mrs South-Africa pageant. She said she entered the pageant for three reasons. Firstly she wanted to show her daughter that it was fine to be a strong woman, to push your boundaries and to love and celebrate being a woman. Secondly she wanted to show her son that one should follow your dreams, irrespective of one’s age or looks. Thirdly, she had the support of her husband, who encouraged her to enter the pageant, knowing that it was not just a beauty pageant but a women’s empowerment programme as well. “If I won the Mrs SouthAfrica competition,” she said, “I would concentrate on doing motivational speeches against bullying and anti-girl behaviour. “I will motivate women and empower them to handle these situations.” Castle was born in Welkom. ’n Eienaar van ’n gastehuis in Welkom het snuf in die neus gekry en só verhoed dat sy bykans R40 000 in ’n bedrogspul verloor het. ’n Man het haar gebel en voorgegee dat R39 250 foutiewelik in haar bankrekening betaal is. Hy het selfs ’n bewys van betaling gestuur en haar versoek om die geld so gou as moontlik aan hom terug te

betaal. Die vrou, wat verkies om anoniem te bly, sê sy het onraad vermoed omdat sy nie ’n SMS van haar bank, wat ’n inbetaling bevestig, gekry het nie. Sy het die bank gebel en vasgestel daar is wel ’n tjek inbetaal. ’n Wagperiode van tien dae geld egter vir tjeks voordat die geld beskikbaar is. “Die man, ene John Langa, het my op 29 Maart om 16:31 gebel en vir van sy werkers

van 10 tot 12 April verblyf bespreek. Ek het ’n faktuur aan hom gestuur en vir ’n bewys van betaling vir R3 150 gevra alvorens die bespreking bevestig sal word.” Die vrou sê die volgende dag het hy om 09:46 gebel en gesê sy rekenmeester het ’n fout begaan en R39 250 in haar rekening inbetaal. Hy het gevra sy moet die geld aan hom terugbetaal en gesê sy moet die verblyfbetaling van R3 150 plus R60 vir bankkostes aftrek en die

res aan hom terugbetaal. “Ek het aan hom gesê ek het geen SMS van my bank ontvang dat daar geld in my rekening inbetaal is nie, en dat ek eers sal wag totdat die SMS deurkom voordat ek enige terugbetaling sou doen." Haar bank het gesê omdat daar ’n tjek van R39 250 in haar rekening inbetaal is en nie ’n elektroniese oorbetaling nie, die man van sy kant af die tjek moet stop of kanselleer.

Sy het die man twee keer daarna probeer bel, maar elke keer het hy die verbinding verbreek. Hierna was sy stempos aan en nog later was sy foon afgeskakel. Die vrou het verskeie ander gastehuise gewaarsku om nie in só ’n strik te trap nie. Kapt. Stephen Thakeng van die polisie sê verskeie soortgelyke gevalle is by die polisie aangemeld. Hy waarsku mense teen dié bedrogspul.

Die doel van die Padongelukkefonds is om te vergoed vir verlies of skade as gevolg van ligaamlike beserings weens die nalatige bestuur van 'n voertuig op Suid-Afrikaanse paaie.

Ná hoe lank moet ek 'n eis indien? Indien die identiteit van die oortrede bestuurder of eienaar van die voertuig bekend is, moet die eis binne drie jaar vavaf die datum van die ongeluk ingedien word. Dít is nie van toepassing by die eis van 'n minderjarige nie. Indien die identiteit van die persoon onbekend is, moet die eis binne twee jaar ingedien word.

Paartjie vier 62 jaar se geluk Sondag 2 April was ’n besonderse dag vir Pieter en Gerty Terblanche van Silwerbron in Wesselsbron. Op dié dag 62 jaar gelede het hulle in die huwelik getree. Pieter onthou ’n dag vroeg in 1950, toe hy as 17-jarige saam met vriende hul matriekuitslae en toekomsplanne op ’n sypaadjie staan en bespreek het. ’n Jong meisie en ’n vriend het op hul fietse by die jongklomp verbygery. Pieter het vir die meisie gesê haar fiets se agterwiel draai vorentoe. Sy het gestop om te kyk wat verkeerd was. Pieter het laggend na haar gestap en gesê dit was ’n grap. Dié meisie was Gerty Kruger. Hier het hulle verhouding begin en hulle is vyf jaar later getroud. Twee kinders is uit die huwelik

gebore. Pieter jr. is ’n opleidingsbeampte in Johannesburg en Marlise van Heerden is ’n onderwyser in Wesselsbron. Vroeër het Gerty by die Posspaarbank in Bloemfontein gewerk en Pieter as vakleerlingdrukker by The Friend. Die egpaar het later na Pretoria verhuis waar hy by die National Occupational Safety Association (Nosa) as dosent gewerk het. Later jare, in Durban, het hy by die Nataller gewerk en was hy deeltyds by die veiligheidspolisie betrokke. Hy was ook ’n dosent aan die Durbanse Tegniese Kollege. Vir 20 jaar het hy by ’n drukkery in Johannesburg gewerk. Op 80-jarige ouderdom het hy finaal ophou werk en die egpaar het in Wesselsbron afgetree. X1TG8QN5-VI200417

Home to host beenefit concert

The much anticipated creative writers’ workshop hosted by two renowned Sotho authors, Tsietsi Mohapi and Letshase Nakeli, will be held at the hall of the Leseding Technical School on Saturday, 22 April, from 09:00. The workshop is for both budding and established writers. Four literature genres will be dealt with. “Preparations are underway and limited space is available. “Only those who have booked their space will be accommodated. Attendees are expected to bring their manuscripts along, which will be read in their respective groups. “All the discussions at the workshop will be published in the journal Hlokwana la Tsela, which will be sent to all the attendees. That way, they will benefit from the presentations, regardless of which group they participated in,” said Nakeli, who will facilitate the presentations on essays and drama. Award winning author Mohapi will facilitate the novel and short story presentations. Prizes will be awarded for well-written manuscripts in the various genres. A special award for excellence will also be presented for a book that has been published in Sotho. This s concert, a specia al performance by the Odeion O String Quarttet from Bloemfonte ein, is supported by th he Department of Socia al Development. Afffectionately know wn to many as Hous se Emmanuel, the en is a place of have safe ety to 25 children who o vary in ages from m infancy to 12 years old. When the nee ed arises and the Dep partment of Social Dev velopment gives perrmission, the hou use is allowed to ope en its doors to eve en more kids. IIn the past it has be een able to ac ccommodate as many as 34 childrren at once. The house takes in n orphans and abandoned, a neglected, sexually and physically abused, or HIV infected children. Recently, the house has seen an increased number of malnourished children as well.

House Emmanuel receives a subsidy from the Department of Social Development. According to House Emmanuel’s manager, Fransie Strydom, the subsidy goes a long way – but sometimes the money runs low. For this reason, the Odeion String Quartet has joined hands with the house to showcase a fundraising benefit concert. According to Petro Reger of House Emmanuel, all proceeds will go towards funding the day-to-day expenses and the fixing of the house, as well as luxuries such as disposable nappies and specific dietary needs. House Emmanuel is classified as a section 18A charity organisation, meaning that businesses and people who donate money or property will be entitled to a deduction from their taxable income if the donation is supported by the necessary section 18A receipt issued by the organisation. ) The Odeion String Quartet will perform a variety of classical and contemporary music. The concert will take place on 18 May at 18:30 at the hall of the Merriespruit Primary School in Fern Road, Virginia. ) Tickets to the concert are available at the Concourt BP Garage and The Makarios AFM Church in Virginia. Prices range from R80 for adults, R50 for pensioners and R40 for children.

Vanjaar is ’n mylpaal in die bekende langasem Louis Massyn se Comradesloopbaan. Indien alles goed gaan, gaan hy op 4 Junie sy 45ste agtereenvolgende Comrades-marathon voltooi. Dié marathon is vanjaar opdraande van Durban na Pietermaritzburg en Massyn hoop om Dave Rogers van die Westville-klub se rekord te ewenaar. Massyn het vanjaar ’n borg bekom vir 45 spesiale T-hemde. Dié hemde simboliseer die 44 Comrades-marathons wat Massyn reeds voltooi het en die 45ste een wat hy nou gaan aanpak. Elke hemp

het ’n jaartal van 1973 tot 2017 op. “Ek gaan dié T-hemde aan atlete van oor die land heen uitdeel,” sê Massyn. Massyn neem ook vanjaar vir die 42ste keer aan die Twee Oseane-ultramarathon oor 56 km deel. Indien alles volgens plan verloop, sal hy die rekord verbeter vir die meeste Twee Oseane-ultramarathons wat nog voltooi is. “Ek is die enigste atleet wat albei hierdie ultramarathons 40 keer ná mekaar voltooi het.” Hy sê die volgende atleet wat so ’n prestasie behaal, sal dit eers oor nege jaar kan doen. Een van die atlete wat dit moontlik kan vermag, is Wietse van der Westhuizen van Bellville.
