DEAR Steven. I created this page as a tribute to you and the astounding, ongoing positive influence you have had on the lives of so many people. I feel that this could be a forum for those who miss you as you will always be in our hearts. – David Pridgeon On Tuesday evening Steven’s good friend David created the Facebook page Never Forget Steven Wessels. Steven’s body was found in Toronto Pan in Lakeview, Welkom. Steven had been missing since last Monday evening when he had left home after spending the Easter weekend with his father and family. Steven was a student in Mechanical Engineering at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein. His abandoned car was discovered by gardeners at the St Andrew’s School where he had left it in Limpopo Road. They reported the vehicle on Thursday morning, even though it had been parked there from Monday night. Extensive searches were launched which included friends on horseback, the police helicopters, the K-9 dog unit, quad bikes and even hikers on foot. The grounds around the area and the pan were scoured for clues, but to no avail. His sister, Nicola Wessels (32), fell from her horse during the search on Friday. Her elbow was fractured. She has since been operated on. All possible leads were followed up. The cell phone detective Leon Rossouw was consulted. He confirmed amongst others that the cell phone signal had been in the area of the pan until it died out last week. A Facebook Page, Finding Steven, was also created. On Monday a Johannesburg psychic, Diva, was approached to help with the mystery. She did a reading on Steven, and in an email to Sandy Pridgeon, a friend of the family, she says she saw a lot of depression in Steven’s life. “This is what I see, I’m sorry! Steven just needed someone to reach out to.” Other extracts from the reading include that he loved his grandmother very much and that he was very loyal to her. “If his dad’s gun is missing, it is definitely with Steven . . . I also believe Steven fully intended to take his own life, he just couldn’t face any more and had enough of his life. This was thought about for awhile. He knew exactly what he was doing . . . He abandoned his own car in that area as he

knew the area and there was a link between the area and his past. I don’t believe he is alive still. He is not very far from where his car is parked.” Steven’s body was found in Toronto Pan on Tuesday morning. It had been sighted by some fishermen who reported this to the police. The body had a gunshot wound to the chest. His backpack was packed with stones, and he was wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans. The police do not suspect foul play. Condolences for the bereaved family have flooded in across Facebook and other social media platforms. From the messages on Facebook Steven was much loved and respected by his peers and friends. He had made a deep impact during his life on earth.

Engo-kinder-en-jeugsorg (jeugsorgsentrums, vroeër bekend as die kinderhuise) is ’n nie-winsgewende instansie wat kinders heeltyds versorg wat deur die kinderhof van hul ouerhuise verwyder is omdat hulle ’n behoefte aan sorg en beskerming het. Die diens is reeds meer as 100 jaar oud en het ’n holistiese uitgangspunt van versorging wat alle fasette insluit. Sowat 800 kinders tussen 0 maande en 18 jaar word in 34 jeugsorgsentrums oor die Vrystaat heen versorg. Die sentrums skep ’n huislike atmosfeer vir kinders en is in die gemeenskap geleë. Die doel is om kinders in die gemeenskap te laat inpas. Bykomende hulp word aan ongeveer 2 500 kinders verleen wat in risiko-omstandighede leef. Die Engo-jeugsorgsentrums (kinderhuise) in die Vrystaat het dit moeilik. Die staatsubsidies het die afgelope jare weinig verhoog en dit word steeds van die kinderhuise verwag om die kinders met minder as R12 per kind drie keer per dag kos te gee. Dit het noodsaaklik geraak vir die gemeenskap om betrokke te raak. Verkeer is gevaarlik BEKOMMERD, Welkom: SEDERT 2006 rig inwoners van Jan Cellierspark skrywes oor die wanordelike verkeersituasie in Petrus Boschstraat aan die noordekant van die Goldfields-VOO-kollege. Van Januarie 2013 rig raadslid Van Schalkwyk (wyk 32) vertoë tot die kollege, die munisipale verkeersdepartement en munisipale bestuurder rakende probleme in genoemde straat en kollege. Enkele weke gelede het inwoners ook ’n versoekskrif aan genoemde partye oorhandig. Die hoofdirekteur van die kollege het ook ’n afskrif daarvan ontvang. Tot op hede is daar geen reaksie van hierdie partye nie. Taxi’s parkeer op sypaadjies en in die straat, smouse sit op sypaadjies, studente stroom oor die strate, oral word rommel gestrooi en die werkers van die aangrensende kerk moet maar opruim. Die toegangshek in Torontoweg is teen ’n hoë koste gebou en is vir ’n paar maande deur studente gebruik. Dit het die inwoners en motoriste se probleem verlig. Sonder konsultasie is die hek in Petrus Boschstraat egter heropen en die probleme woed voort. Tot op hede word daar geweier om enige verkeerstrepe of spoedwalle aan te bring

of enige verkeerstekens om motoriste van voetgangers bewus te maak. Daar word ook geweier om die hek in Torontoweg weer vir voetgangers te heropen. Die verkeersdepartement beweer dat spoedwalle in byvoorbeeld Torontoweg of Petrus Boschstraat ’n probleem vir ambulanse sal skep, maar vreemd genoeg skep spoedwalle in Longweg- en Unicorweg nie probleme nie. Lede van die verkeersdepartement het onlangs die terrein besoek. Toe die wyksraadslid egter daar opdaag om ook insette te lewer is hy gevra om die terrein te verlaat. Ook die Goldfields-VOO-kollege se kampusbestuurder is onlangs deur die raadslid besoek ten einde probleemoplossing te bespreek, maar die raadslid is baie vyandig ontvang. Dié ruimte moet ordelik deur alle belanghebbende partye gedeel word. Indien daar nie samewerking verkry word nie, sal verdere stappe gedoen moet word om die verkeerswette en munisipale reglemente ten minste af te dwing, of wil die owerhede hê dat daar eers ’n noodlottige ongeluk plaasvind voordat spoedwalle oorweeg word?

DIE provinsiale en nasionale verkiesings verskil van die munisipale verkiesings deurdat kiesers op 7 Mei slegs vir partye gaan stem en nie vir individuele kandidate nie. Kiesers sal op 7 Mei ’n stembrief vir die provinsiale wetgewer ontvang en een vir die Nasionale Vergadering in die parlement. Kiesers kan provinsiaal vir een party en nasionaal vir ’n ander party stem sou hulle wou. Nog ’n verskil is kiesers kan slegs in munisipale verkiesings by die stemlokaal stem waar die kieser geregistreer is. In provinsiale en nasionale verkiesings kan egter by enige stemlokaal gestem word. Kiesers kan nie sonder hul identiteitsdokumente stem nie en mag net een keer stem. Suid-Afrika gebruik ’n proporsionele kiesstelsel op nasionale en provinsiale vlak. Dit beteken die getal setels wat elke party wen, hang af van die getal stemme wat die party kry. ’n Formule word gebruik waarvolgens een setel vir ’n bepaalde getal stemme aan die onderskeie partye toegeken word. Nadat die setels volgens die formule toegeken is, bly daar ’n paar setels oor. Elke party het ook oorskotstemme (stemme behalwe die getal stemme per setel). Dié setels word dan toegeken op ’n grondslag van een setel vir die party met die meeste oorskotstemme, dan ’n setel vir die party met die tweede grootste getal oorskotstemme, en so voort totdat al die setels gevul is. Elke party het drie kandidatelyste. Een lys is vir die provinsiale wetgewer, een is ’n streeklys vir die Nasionale Vergadering en die derde lys is ’n nasionale lys vir die Nasionale Vergadering. As ’n party ses setels in die wetgewer wen, word dit deur die eerste ses kandidate op sy wetgewerlys gevul. Die provinsiale stembriewe word hiervoor gebruik. Die getal setels vir elke party word bepaal volgens sy getal stemme nasionaal, en die lede word aangewys volgens hul posisies op die partylyste. Die ander 200 lede word aangewys volgens die stemme wat die partye in die onderskeie provinsies behaal het deur die nasionale stembriewe te tel. Elke party het ’n lys per provinsie en elke provinsie het ’n getal setels in die Nasionale Vergadering. Kiesers stem nie regstreeks vir die Nasionale Raad van Provinsies nie. Die samestelling daarvan word deur die samestelling van elke wetgewer bepaal. As ’n party dus ’n derde van die wetgewersetels in ’n provinsie gewen het, kry hy ook ’n derde van die provinsie se setels in die Nasionale Raad van Provinsies.

Die program begin die Maandag om 08:00 met formele sangnommers in die NG kerk Welkom-Suid. Om 15:00 sal instrumentele nommers in die kerk en sangnommers in die skoolsaal van die Goudveld-Hoërskool gehoor word. Op Dinsdag 20 Mei word van 08:00 af instrumentele nommers in die NG kerk Welkom-Suid en van 09:00 informele sangnommers in die Goudveld-Hoërskool se saal gelewer. Op 21 Mei begin die instrumentele nommers weer om 08:00 in die Goudveld-Hoërskool-saak gevolg deur informele sangnommers van 09:00 af. Een van die hoogtepunte op die program gaan die dansnommers wees wat om 15:00 in die gimsaal van die Gouties begin. Verskeie kore tree om 18:00 in die kerk op. Kaartjies is teen R20 beskikbaar. Daar sal ook van die Maandag tot die Woensdag drama-, prosa- en poësienommers in die Goudveld-Hoërskool se lapa gelewer word. Die pryswennerskonsert, waaraan alle kategoriewenners gaan deelneem, word op Vrydag 23 Mei gehou. Die beoordelaars van die kunstefees is dosente van die Noordwes-universiteit en sal terugvoer aan die deelnemers gee. ’n Uitstalling van kunsprojekte sal ook op die fees in die voorportaal van die Goudveld-Hoërskool besigtig kan word. MATJHABENGâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S RESPONSE TO SAMWU DEMANDS Matjhabeng Local Municipality wishes to set the record straight regarding demands raised by SAMWU last week during their unprotected industrial action. Their march complied with legislative requirements regarding public gatherings but did not comply with the labour laws as regards to protected industrial actions. Therefore, the industrial action was not protected. The no work no pay rule applied to employees who were absent from work. The Municipal Manager Mr. German Ramathebane responds as follows: On immediate implementation of LLF resolutions: Personnel acting on higher position without relevant remuneration were not approved by MAYCO because the process did not follow HR procedures and policies. Labour declared dispute about the matter and the outcome was that the matter must be dealt with internally by both parties. The matter is currently before LLF where the report from Municipal Manager will be tabled in the next LLF meeting.

On contract workers: The representatives of both the employer and labour are currently engaged in discussions on the employment of contract workers. The discussions are at an advanced stage and we are on the verge of reaching an agreement. On organisational structure Matjhabeng is currently receiving support from COGTA (Cooperate Governance and Traditional Affairs) on development of credible Organisational Structure. According to the process plan the structure will be tabled at LLF in June 2014 for consultation. On health and Safety Departments are issuing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to employees but the unfortunate practice is that some employees are selling issued PPE and others refuse to wear it so that they are undetected when playing truant. Purging and harassment of SAMWU members: The employee in question continues refusing to report to Library Services where she was employed so that her salary payment can be activated. Disciplinary procedures

have been started against her for refusing to obey lawful instruction. Non-compliance with SALGBC Collective Agreements There are instances where rotation of staff to act is not feasible due to non availability of competent staff. Employees who have worked Shifts are compensated accordingly. HR will start consultation process with those employees whose contract states that there are shift workers but have since stopped working shifts, so that their conditions of service can be changed. Maternity leave for contract workers is dealt with in terms of BCEA. Use of lawyers: The Municipality has several law firms in its data base and we have no control of who they assign to our cases. Therefore, the individual in question is not employed by the municipality. On all other matters raised that are not labour related, the Municipality wants to set the record straight that we have not privatised any services but we are using private companies to assist in areas that we are unable to provide a service to the public.

Leer veghonde op skou ken DIE Welkom Pitbull Club hou op 3 Mei die eerste Unie- Amerikaanse veghondskou in Welkom by die Welkom-rugbyklub in die Griffons-stadion in Stateway. Die skou is oop vir die publiek en Amerikaanse veghond-eienaars word genooi om hul honde te kom vertoon. Net geregistreerde honde kan ingeskryf word. Amerikaanse veghond-eienaars moet seker maak hulle bring ’n afskrif van die hond se registrasiedokumente saam. Alle groot honde van ses maande oud af moet ’n nekband en wurgketting aanhê. Klein hondjies (jonger as ses maande) kan ’n lyfharnas aanhê. Daar sal ’n snoepwinkel wees en ook ’n

springkasteel om die kleinspan te vermaak. Die nommers op die skou sal hoogspring, lankhang, konformasie en gewigtrek insluit. Die Welkom Pitbull Club is in November 2012 gestig deur ’n paar vriende wat Sondae in die hoefie bymekaar begin kom het om mense meer van dié wonderlike honderas te leer en dat hulle nie net aggressief is soos almal dink nie, maar dat hulle ook liefdevolle gesinshonde is. “Ná die derde Sondag het die mense in ons groepie verdubbel en ons het toe begin met nommers soos hoogspring en lankhang. Mense het dit baie geniet. In Maart 2013 het ons aan skoue in Vereeniging, Heidelberg, Germiston, Pretoria, Rustenburg en Secunda begin deelneem. Ons was ’n nuwe klub en moes die jaar onder die vaandel van ander klubs skou om so ’n skou in Welkom te kry,” sê Caroline de Wet van die klub. De Wet sê dit was ’n baie opwindende jaar en in November 2013 was dit die beurt van die grootste skou van die jaar, die Suid-Afrikaanse kampioenskapbyeenkoms. “Hier het meer as 160 honde deelgeneem. Ons is trots om te sê baie van Welkom se honde het eerste, tweede en derde plekke behaal. “Op Saterdag se skou kom baie klubs van ver af om saam met ons deel te neem. WELKOM, here are your top 10 finalists for Welkom’s Got Talent 2014 which is hosted by the Goldfields Mall, Vista and Express Goldfields & NFS. The grand finale is on Friday evening and will be a spectacular show. Spectators will not be disappointed.

BARBARA GERALDES and her breathtaking sword dance.

Belly dance will enthrall Marti Will ON Friday, 9 May, the pupils of the Barbara’s School of Belly Dancing will take to the stage of the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre in Welkom to bedazzle and enthrall the audience with their production Fire and Isis. Fire and Isis is an hour-long show and will incorporate 14 dance sequences encompassing dance styles like candelabra, swords and fire dancing, a number which will include specially imported fire fans. One of the highlights of the show will be the majestic Wings of Isis, a number which is sure to have the audience in awe. “Treat the man in your life to an evening of glamour and intrigue,” says Barbara Geraldes of the Barbara’s School of Belly Dancing. “The two imposing pythons which have been used in previous shows will not again be incorporated,” she says. Pupils of this school range from housewives to pensioners, professional working women to moms and young students. The costumes are luxurious and exotically stunning, yet not revealing. The show incorporates most forms of belly dancing and is a celebration of a woman’s body and style. It has been a means

of expression for women for thousands of years and today women often do belly dancing because it is good exercise. This form of dancing helps the woman to be stronger and more flexible and the dancers develop a healthy posture and alignment. To repeat a famous quote: “Belly dancing is not about looking beautiful, it is about being beautiful”. Belly dancing associates with both religious and erotic elements. This ambiguity has caused it to be loved, scorned and disdained by many. It does wonders to confidence and self-esteem. The beauty of this dance type is that it is definitely a woman’s form of dance. According to Geraldes, the Middle Eastern Arab and Mediterranean countries each claim this dance form originated with them, but there is a belief that it started with the Celts. Popular and known styles include the traditional Baladi Sharki and Bedouin dance, the Egyptian cabaret, Arabic-Lebanese, Golf country, Turkish and Greek Ciftetelli. Prime Circle will give prime show

SINCE they first burst out of Witbank some 11 years ago, Prime Circle’s career has been an inspiration that has spawned hundreds of garage bands across South Africa, with starry-eyed young rockers hoping that one day, they might make it big the way Ross Learmonth, Dirk Bisschoff, Marco Gomes, Neil Breytenbach and Dale Schnettler did. Prime Circle will be performing in Welkom at the Ernest Oppenheimer Theatre on 16 May at 19:00. Their 2003 debut, Hello crazy world, rocketed to gold status in South Africa, with Live this life (their 2005 follow-up following suit). Singles such as Hello, Live this life and My inspiration are some

of their biggest hits. In 2008 Prime Circle released All or nothing, which raked in the first two Prime Circle South African Music Award nominations of their career, for Record of the Year and Best Rock Album (English). The community of Matjhabeng Local Municipality is over the moon following several multiple million rand projects that were launched in their towns last week. Executive Mayor Councillor Sebenzile Ngangelizwe accompanied by Deputy Minister of Roads and Transport, Me. Sindisiwe Chikunga, MEC for Police and Roads Hon Butana Komphela; SANRAL's CEO Mr. Nazir Alli; Executive Mayor of Lejweleputswa District Municipality, Cllr Mathabo Leeto; Matjhabeng Speaker Cllr. Charles Stofile, launched the N1 Ventersburg Intersection project near Mamahabane with the cost of R294 million. The project was done in conjunction with National Department of Roads, SANRAL, as well as the Free State Department of Roads, Police and Transport. The N1 is the main road transport corridor between the cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg, via Bloemfontein and passes between Mmamahabane Township on the eastern side of the N1, and Ventersburg on the western side. SANRAL's Incident Management Systems identified this area as a high incident zone due to the high volume of pedestrians crossing the national road as well as various vehicle conflicting points from the intersections that were present on the N1. Traffic volumes on the N1 through Ventersburg are

approximately 6 000 vehicles per day of which approximately 20% are heavy vehicles (1 200 trucks per day), mostly of the super-link type. Approximately 4 300 pedestrians cross the N1 on a daily basis between the Mmamahabane Township and Ventersburg. Additional to the project is the new truck stop which will also assist in eliminating the safety hazards by providing proper stop over facilities thereby improving the safety of motorists and pedestrians. The subcontract of the upgrade and construction of the buildings at the truck stops is underway. On Job Opportunities and Skills Training, a total of R65, 7 million was spent on 42 SMME's during construction while 309 local people were employed at a value of R31, 6 million. A total of 387 people were employed on the contract at a value of R36, 6 million. Various training providers were used for the training programmes ranging from skills development for construction operations (such as scaffolding and formwork and dismantling), personal management skills training (financial and business principles), safety awareness training (traffic control, flag-persons and first aid). More personnel were trained in engineering skills,

entrepreneurial skills and generic skills including basic first aid training. SANRAL also held road safety education workshops and a Career EXPO on this project Executive Mayor of Matjhabeng Local Municipality, Cllr. Sebenzile Ngangelizwe expressed the municipality's pride at being part of this initiative. â&#x20AC;&#x153;We are glad to be part of this huge project and to be providing much needed services which improve the living conditions of our peopleâ&#x20AC;?, he said. He further stated that this initiative will do much to boost Matjhabeng's local economy as a shopping complex is intended within the same vicinity that will cater for road users' various needs. Executive Mayor continued with the launch of Phomolong Taxi Rank and the construction of 1.0 km paved road in Phomolong. Both projects cost R25 million. He also attended the sod turning ceremonies for construction of Meloding Taxi Rank (R24 million); construction of 2, 56 km paved road in Bronville (R10 million); construction of Bronville taxi rank (R14 million); a storm water channel in ward 26 Losaba Canal (R14 million); Kopano Indoor Sports Center (R8 million) and a storm water channel in Thabong 12 (R6 million).

Jy is net so oud soos jy voel Elsona Steyn TOE ek 16 was, het ek gedink my ma is stokoud. Nou kyk ek op 50 na myself in die spieël en voel perdfris, maar ek is seker ’n kraai het gisteraand oor my gesig geloop en fyn spoortjies agtergelaat. Hoekom is dit so dramaties en soms selfs traumaties om ouer te word? Daar is iets aan die skoonheid van die jeug wat ons almal wil behou. Swaartekrag is ’n vrou se grootste vyand. Daar is die selluliet wat geen pil of room meer kan wegtoor nie. Die Koningin van Ewige Jeug het haar troepe se tassies gepak en laat my met die gebakte pere – of is dit geplooide pere? Daar is die vlekke van ure se kuier in die Upington-son en die eerste grys haar wat jy met kleur uit ’n boksie probeer wegtoor, maar wat keer op keer sy onwelkome verskyning maak. Trappeklim laat jou kort-asem en om net ver te kyk maak jou moeg. Jy soek die Huisgenoot net om dit dae later saam met die kaas in die yskas te vind. Jy en die apteker noem mekaar op die voornaam en die oogarts tel onder van jou beste vriende. Jy vergeet dikwels waar jy jou bril gebêre het en vind dit dan op jou kop. Die gym-kontrak lyk goed

en jy sluit aan net vir die gratis handdoek wat op die spel is. My eerste oefensessie was maklik . . . net om later uit te vind dit is omdat ek alles verkeerd gedoen het. Op 50 verdien ek: ) goeie koffie; ) tweelaagtoiletpapier; ) DStv; ) goeie leerskoene; ) duur parfuum; en ) rooifluweelkoek vir ontbyt (die instrukteur by die gym word betaal om my te help om van die kilojoules ontslae te raak); ) ’n ekstra paar rand in die bank om op myself te bestee; ) ’n wegbreek-naweek saam met my man sonder om skuldig te voel omdat die kinders moet tuisbly; en ) skaapvel-pantoffels vir my wintervoete. Op 50 is ek te oud vir: ) ’n besoek van die ooievaar; ) onderklere waarvan die rek probeer wegkom (omdat dit my deur die vet en die maer jare moes dra); ) bloese in kleure wat in die 80’s hoogmode was; ) die tekkies waarin ek in my matriekjaar netbal gespeel het, veral met die paar dienlike kerkkouse in dieselfde kleur; en ) Die Leeuloop (maar nie te oud vir die Kalfiewals nie). Op 50 het daar ’n bevryding oor my gekom, ek voel gemaklik met my lyf en my omstandighede. Oudword beteken nie oudwees nie. Dalk moet ek ’n Gryswordgids vir Mans skryf.

Littering big problem DOES it really matter if we litter? As we look around our beautiful country, we all too often see plastic bottles, cans, glass bottles, polystyrene containers and cups, plastic paper and rubbish littering our streets, our parks, our highways, our neighbourhoods, our shopping areas, our rivers and many other places in the environment. No waste company or service can keep a town or city clean when residents litter and dump illegally and randomly. If residents join in in cleaning up their environment and then keep it clean, we win because we have a cleaner, safer and more hygienic city or town. With so many other important issues such as crime and violent crime, Aids, child abuse and unemployment, should we care about whether we put our litter in the bin (or recycle where possible)? Should we care if South Africa and the environment in which we live are kept clean? A social issue Littering is an environmental and social issue: ) it is unsightly; ) it reduces the aeshetic appeal of public places;

) it costs the community huge sums of money and time to clean up; ) it causes blockages of the drainage system and flooding; ) when it gets into the waterways, it can kill aquatic life; ) it decreases oxygen levels when it decays in water; ) it can be dangerous to people; ) it harms birds and other animals; ) it creates a culture of lack of caring; ) it costs the council a lot more money to clean up the litter than it costs them to empty bins. ) it breeds rats that carry diseases and chew electrical and telephone cables. ) Source: www.greenworks.co.za

Community discuss issues at imbizo LAST WEEK Sunday the Phomolong Community Hall was packed to capacity as community members came out in numbers to hear about crime statistics in their town. This took place during an imbizo organised by the Hennenman police in partnership with the Hennenman Community Policing Forum (CPF). Mamello Mokhuoane, police spokesperson, said the purpose of the meeting was to give the community quarterly feedback on the performance of the station by releasing the latest statistics. “The aim was to make the community aware of

the crime trends that are prevalent in the precinct such as housebreaking and assaults. “We also encouraged the community to join CPF structures in the precinct. “The management of Hennenman, including the station commander Lt. Col Mmuso Ntobela, Vispol commander Capt. Rabusuntu Lesenyeho and the detective commander Capt. Karel Boshoff were also present at the event. “They addressed the community on crime issues and the community had the opportunity to ask them important questions. “Also present was the CPF committee who

addressed the community. “To ensure their safety community patrollers will be visible in the streets. “Some of the concerns raised by CPF members included the issue of groupings at schools and the fact that taverns closed too late at night. “The issue of knives amongst children was also raised and it was mentioned that many learners carried knives to school. “However, most of the community members praised the work of the police and gave advice on the way forward in terms of projects that could help in eliminating crime in the town,” said Mokhuoane.

DIE Titans-rugbyklub is in Oktober 2013 gestig en vorm deel van die Tikwe Sports Academy. Roelof Stoltz, eienaar van die Tikwe River Lodge, sê een van sy groot drome word nou bewaarheid. Dit is vir hom baie belangrik om sportontwikkeling in die plaaslike gemeenskap te bevorder en hy sê sodoende gaan die akademie nog baie uitgebrei word – groot sukses wink. Die sportterrein van die Harvinia-klub het nou die terrein van die Tikwe Sports Academy geword. “Hier is al kliphard gewerk om die sportterrein weer op peil te kry. Hoewel al die afgelope tyd baie tyd en energie aan die terrein toegewy is, word nog groot en mooi dinge beplan,” sê Stolz. Theo Pieterse, bestuurder van die akademie, is baie trots op hul sukses. Die Tikwe-Titans het op Donderdag 10 April hul derde ligawedstryd gespeel. “Al drie die wedstryde is deur die Titans gewen. “Donderdag se wedstryd was teen Parys en dié harde wedstryd teen een van die beste spanne in die liga is met 10-3 gewen,” sê Pieterse. “Dit was ook die manne in swart en groen se eerste tuiswedstryd,” sê hy. Pieterse wil die mense van die gemeenskap vir hul ondersteuning van dié wedstryd bedank. “Ek doen ook ’n beroep op die inwoners om al die wedstryde te ondersteun, veral wanneer ’n tuiswedstryd gespeel word,” sê hy. ’n Program sal hopelik al in die volgende uitgawe van Vista geplaas word.

The tournament is open to all players and schools are requested to encourage their players to participate. Entries close on Wednesday, 7 May, at 18:00. Players must ensure that they submit a complete entry form.
