Hoje em dia, existem skatistas completos que andam em tudo. Mas também existem skatistas completos que, além de andarem em tudo, sabem muito de fotografia e vídeo. É o caso do Pedro Biagio. O Pedrinho anda muito, tem um skate moderno e técnico, fora o pop natural. Conheci ele aqui em São Paulo um pouco antes de sair sua primeira parte pra Rettaskateshop. Já deu pra sentir que é um cara que fala pouco e anda com facilidade, além de estar sempre atento ao que é lançado de vídeo no underground, vídeos de VX e 4/3 como os da Magenta, Polar, Bronze e Palace, fora os nacionais. Ele tem um gosto refinado e sabe caprichar quando aponta seu celular para um final de tarde sem ser clichê.
A LUZ QUE ILUMINA OS PÉS E A ALMA. Rafael Gomes viu de longe sua criatividade e já fizeram alguns vídeos juntos. Fala pra nóis Rafa, de qual bueiro ele surgiu: “Direto de Maringá. Desde quando conheci o Pedro, já dava pra ver que o talento e a visão que ele tem do skate vão além, sempre seleto e exigente na escolhas que faz. Com pouca idade, câmera emprestada e seu computador, ele encabeçou e editou o projeto de vídeo local chamado ‘Secret Tape’, com parte dele e de vários amigos aqui da região. O resultado final mostrou que a criatividade e o talento superam qualquer falta de equipamento. Autodidata, ele sempre se propõe a editar os vídeos e faz isso bem feito. Nas sessões, quando não está inspirando todos à sua volta com seu skate técnico e fluido, pode ser visto fotografando ou filmando com celular ou outra câmera, e os resultados são sempre impressionantes. Sou teu fã, Pedro!” Também virei fã depois de viajar com ele pro Chile esses dias. Sabe muito!

O Rio de Janeiro é a síntese das coisas boas e ruins do Brasil, mas as cores da cidade maravilhosa são universais. Um lugar onde o contraste brutal entre a natureza e as construções humanas geram uma festa de tonalidades e formas. Todas as cores estão presentes de alguma maneira em algum lugar. O preto e o branco também. Com dedicação total e um olhar aberto aos contrastes desta cidade que conta com uma luz incrível, Ronaldo Land produz fotos fantásticas. Nelas, as sombras falam mais do que qualquer iluminação de cinema, compondo silhuetas que mostram a cidade e o skatista como nenhuma gama de cores, com seus infinitos tons e volumes, poderia fazer. A fotografia em preto e branco pode ser muito mais do que conhecemos. E imaginação, sensibilidade e criatividade é o que não falta no trabalho do Ronaldo.

Existe um momento no tempo e no espaço em que uma conjunção de fatores aleatórios e outros provocados dá origem a um fenômeno raro que, no linguajar científico, se convencionou chamar de PUTA FESTA DO CARALHO! Assim foi o VISSS, festival que marcou o encerramento das comemorações de 10 anos desta revista que vos fala. Quem foi, foi. Quem festejou, festejou. Quem perdeu, só resta conferir as fotos e ficar olhando para as estrelas torcendo para que o destino trabalhe novamente a seu favor. No dia 9 de novembro, as imagens, sons, movimentos, personagens, formas e até os perfumes que passeiam pelas páginas da Vista se materializaram no interior de uma fábrica abandonada no centro de São Paulo. O lugar não poderia ser mais perfeito, uma espécie de parque arqueológico da arte urbana brasileira, com pinturas e ambientes que contam histórias muito parecidas com as que contamos por aqui.
Foram cerca de 10 horas de festa para celebrar a cultura e os amigos da Vista, sendo que ambos estavam muito bem representados por lá. Quem levou o skate pôde atacar o Monza que o Cusco Rebel transformou em objeto skatável, carinhosamente apelidado de “Mad Max”. Num outro canto da festa, o artista californiano Jimbo Pillips exibia suas obras, autografava posters e trocava uma ideia com todo mundo que passava. Numa dessas conversas, deu pra pescar um depoimento do cara dizendo que já tinha participado de vários eventos com a mesma pilha, mas que esse tava foda demais, o que elevou nossa moral à estratosfera. Enquanto a tarde de domingo transcorria na maior das elegâncias, no palco rolava uma sequência arrebatadora de shows. Os trabalhos começaram com os DJs Madruga e Naomi e seguiram em frente com O.C.L.A., Beatwise Recordings, Garage Fuzz, DJ Tamempi e o
australiano Dub FX, que fechou a noite dando o último pingo de certeza de que não havia lugar melhor para se estar naquele momento do espaço e tempo. Os astros sabem o que fazem. Depois desse ano memorável, só nos resta agradecer a todos que encheram os olhos e ouvidos de quem esteve presente no VISSS e nos previews que rolaram em São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Floripa e Curitiba. DESTROY AND CREATE Na vida existem bons momentos, maus momentos, momentos irrelevantes, momentos inesquecíveis, momentos cotidianos, momentos angustiantes, momentos para todos os gostos. The year is gone, actually 10 are gone, and we are moving forward without much money in our pockets, but with health and skate to spread on these pages. VISSS stayed behind (and with stay for the future). The marathon of celebrations that began in issue 53 ends here, but not before praising those who always buckled down and made us go on. You. And that other you that appears when you do not know who you are anymore. For you two (or more), we give our thanks.
Rio de Janeiro is the synthesis of all the good and bad things about Brazil, but the colors of this wonderful city are universal. It is a place where the brutal contrast between human settlements and nature create a feast of colors and shapes. All colors are present in some way somewhere. Black and white as well. With total dedication and open eyes to look at the contrasts of this city with amazing light, Ronaldo Land produces great pictures. In them, the shadows speak more than any film lighting, making silhouettes that show the city and the skateboarders. Black and white photography can be much more than we know, and imagination, sensitivity and creativity is not a problem in the work of Ronaldo.
We are slowly going back to our bi-monthly routine of celebrating what swirls around the four wheels. In this edition, we seek the colors (or lack thereof) of Rio de Janeiro through the eyes of Ronaldo Land. We also find the light that illuminates the feet and the soul of Pedro Biagio. Finally, a last look of 10 years with the Destroy and Create project. And that is it. New Year. Look ahead. Pointing to the horizon. As far as the eye can see. Or beyond. Destroy And Create In life there are good times, bad times, irrelevant moments, unforgettable moments, everyday moments, difficult moments, moments for everyone. But there are those which are single and magical, where the universe seems to conspire to carry everything with what you dream. It been 10 years, and we can say that this perfect cosmic alignment has happened at least once. The conjunction of skate, art, architecture, music, photography, video, street ownership and the boundaries between creation and destruction, intervention and transgression. This phenomenon we called Destroy And Create.

Today, there are “complete” skaters, who skate everything. There are also complete skaters who, in addition to skateboarding, know a lot of photography and video. This is the case of Pedro Biagio.
There is a moment in time and space in which a combination of random factors and other causes, gives rise to a rare phenomenon that, in scientific language, come to be called an AMAZING FUCKING PARTY! So it was, the VISSS festival that marked the end of 10 years worth of celebrations of this magazine that speaks to you. Who was there, was there. Who delighted, delighted. Who lost, it only remains to check out the photos and stare at the stars hoping that fate work again in your favor. On November 9th, the images, sounds, movements, characters, shapes and even scents fumes wandering through the pages of Vista materialized within an abandoned factory in downtown São Paulo. The place could not have been more perfect, a sort of archaeological park of Brazilian urban art, with paintings and environments that have experiences similar to those we have here.
“Pedrinho” as he is known, skates a lot, has a technical and modern flow, and natural pop. I met him here in São Paulo just before the release of his first part for Rettaskateshop. In the first few moments I could see that he is an introverted guy who doesn’t talk much but skates really well, and he is always aware of what is released on the underground, VX videos and 4/3 like Magenta, Polar, and Bronze Palace, in addition to the national stuff. He has a refined taste and knows how to perfectly point his phone for a late afternoon view without it being cliché. Rafael Gomes saw his creativity and they have made a few videos together. Tell us Rafael, which manhole he come from: "Direct from Maringa. Since I met Pedro, as you can see, the talent and vision he has for skateboarding go beyond the normal, he is specific in his selection and demanding in his choices. At an early age he borrowed a camera and a computer, spearheaded and edited the local video project called 'Secret Tape,' with his video part and several friends here from the region. The end result showed that creativity and talent outweigh any lack of equipment. Self-taught, he always aims to edit the videos and do it well. In the sessions, when not inspiring everyone around him with his technical and fluid skate, he can be seen photographing or filming with his mobile phone or other camera, and the results are always impressive. I am your fan, Pedro!" I also became a fan after traveling with him to Chile these days. He knows a lot!
There were about 10 hours worth of party to celebrate the culture and friends, both of which were very well represented there. Those who brought their skateboard could attack a Monza that Cusco Rebel turned into skateable object, affectionately dubbed by "Mad Max." In another corner of the party, the Californian artist Jimbo Phillips exhibited his works, autographed posters and exchanged some ideas with everyone that passed. In these conversations, I overheard him saying that he had already participated in several events with the same style, but VISSS was fucking awesome, bringing our moral to the stratosphere. While the Sunday afternoon was dressed in elegance, on stage rolled a sweeping sequence of shows. The sound began with DJs Madruga and Naomi, moved on to OCLA, Beatwise Recordings, Garage Fuzz, DJ Tamempi and the Australian Dub FX, who closed the night giving the last shred of visitors the certainty that there was no better place to be in that in that space and time. The stars know what they do.
After this memorable year, we can only thank everyone who filled the eyes and ears of those who attended VISSS and the previews that happened in São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Curitiba and Florianópolis. Thanks Jimbo Philips, Cusco Rebel, Rafael Chaves, SHN, Drão, Brian Rael, Xadalu and Mario de Alencar.
