We are always moving. We go beyond. This year - in December that`s a worthy reflection - was very productive for us. Not taking the current Brazilian president`s slogan into consideration (the illegitimate "don`t think about the crises, work"), but we definitely worked hard and didn`t have much time to think about the crises. The result of our effort is in this Vista`s issue, but also expanded to different fields - far from the magazine itself, but always in search for the most improbabilidade do estilo. Os retratos de Rodrigo Branco não são limpos. É comum a tinta se derramar sobre os olhos que ele desenha, como num golpe. Exercício de abstração que não tira nada da humanidade das pinceladas dadas pelo paulistano nascido no Grajaú. A bem da verdade, cada mistura de cores e espessuras fala muito sobre o artista; ainda mais sobre a complexidade da megalópole da qual ele vem.
Portraits made by Rodrigo Branco are not clean. The colourful paint sometimes spills over the eyes he draws, like a clash. An exercise of abstraction that doesn`t takes any humanity out from the work produced by the guy born in Grajaú. This mix of colours, actually, says a lot about the artist; also about the complexity of the megalopolis where he comes from.
O bairro onde nasceu, no extremo sul de São Paulo, também é miscelânea de traços. Foi lá que Branco se viu influenciado pela pixação, pelo vaivém da vida cotidiana e pelo que existia ao lado da própria casa: um circo-escola que inspirou muitas das cores que hoje preenchem muros e papéis.
The neighbourhood where he was born, located in southern São Paulo, is a miscellany of rules too. That was where Branco was first influenced by graffiti, by the coming and going of everyday life and by a place just beside his house: a circus which inspired many of the tonalities that now fulfill walls and pieces of paper.
O olhar observador veio do pai baiano - e tem um tanto de fotografia. O gosto pelas artes veio do tio - que o ensinou a gostar de Candido Portinari. Face a face, vem construindo um álbum imaginado que carrega o seu lugar de origem por inúmeras estradas. Fora do Brasil, a lista de exposições inclui Alemanha, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra e Colômbia.
The observing eyes were inherited from his father - they got a certain photographic touch. His uncle taught him to love Candido Portinari, one of the most important Brazilian artists. Face to face, he builds an album of imagination that gathers Branco`s hometown through different roads. Due to his expositions, he has already been to places such as Germany, United States, England and Colombia.

Um tempo atrás ele me contou sobre o lindo sonho delirante de fazer um vídeo em que acordaria dentro de um aquário e andaria pelas ruas de skate e pé de pato. Na hora, pedi pra ver as imagens - não porque tenha duvidado dele, mas porque eu sou um dos que ama o Will. E não posso prometer, mas vou atrás dele pra gente contar melhor essa história. De qualquer maneira, você já é sortudo de compartilhar esse sonho com ele.
Everybody knows Will Dias, known as Dent. And everybody has a feeling about him: love or hate. Some time ago, he told me about a beautiful and delirious dream of making a video in which he would wake up inside an aquarium and would skate on the streets wearing flippers. Immediately I asked if I could see the images - not that I have doubted him, but I am one of those who loves him. And I can`t promise, but I will go get him to tell this story here. Anyway, you are already lucky to share this dream with him.

Essas fotos com o Akira Shiroma foram feitas pelo fotógrafo Remy Stratton durante as filmagens do vídeo Holy Stokes!, da Volcom. Akira não estava inicialmente escalado para fazer parte do tour que capturaria imagens pela América do Sul, mas a história mudou durante a passagem da equipe por Brasília, quando David Gonzalez se machucou e não pode seguir para o próximo destino. Shiroma estava junto nas sessões na capital e acabou chamando a atenção dos videomakers, que acabaram o recrutando para o restante das missões. O final dessa história todo mundo viu no Holy Stokes! É a tal da vida real acontecendo.
The following pictures with Akira Shiroma were taken by photographer Remy Stratton during the filming of Holy Stokes!` video to Volcom. Shiroma wasn`t initially casted to be part of the tour that would capture images through South America, but things changed when the team arrived in Brasilia: David Gonzalez got heart and couldn`t continue to the next destiny. Shiroma, who has been joining the sessions in the Brazilian capital, called the videomakers` attention and ended to be recruited to finish the mission. Everybody saw the end of this story at Holy Stokes! That`s real life happening, indeed.

Friday night, Sumaré Station. Three girls decide where to go in São Paulo and the highest place of a building seems to be the best choice
Acompanhei Lis e Jack, mais conhecidas como ARRASTAO e PARCEIROS, numa noite paulistana. Lis já tem experiência em pixar topos de edifícios e gosta dos mais altos: arranhacéus. "Me sinto melhor no topo da cidade”, explica a integrante do rolê Arrastão, turma criada em 1994. Jack, a mais nova das três, começou escrevendo seu nome em 2011 na turma Parceiros. Ela conta sobre a dificuldade de ser uma mulher num mundo ainda majoritariamente masculino: “Já começa quando saímos de casa. Nós, mulheres, estamos expostas a diversos perigos". Sorte que o perigo da altura nunca atrapalhou seu pixo: "Em um prédio, nada é tão extremo como quando você faz uma janela” (modalidade em que a escalada acontece por fora - especialidade dela). A noite não foi fácil, mas a cidade lá de cima fala mais alto.

I joined Lis and Jack, aka ARRASTAO and PARCEIROS for a night. Lis was already experienced on graffiti writing on very high buildings: she actually prefers skyscrapers. "I feel better on the top of the town", tells the member of the Arrastão crew, created in 1994. Jack, the youngest of the three girls, started writing her name in 2011, along with the Parceiros crew. She talks about being a woman in a still man`s world: "Difficulty starts everyday when we leave home. We, women, are always exposed to danger". Luckily, fear of heights has never blocked her writing: "In a building, nothing is so extreme as graffiting a window (modality that consist on hiking the outside of the construction - her speciality). That night was not easy, but when you are on the top of a building you can hear the city calling.

Certainly, there is nothing in this world that entertains an skater more than a good demo. Certainly, that was the reason why the adidas team decided to produce the Away Days Tour around the world, taking its team to skate with locals from different countries.
Depois de apresentar o primeiro vídeo longa metragem de skate da marca com nomes como Gonz, Lucas Puig e Rodrigo TX, sem contar a "surpresa" da presença de Marc Johnson e Daewon Song, era hora de voltar a andar livremente nas ruas.
After presenting the first skate full-length movie of the label - with guys like Gonz, Lucas Puig and Rodrigo TX, not to tell about the surprising presence of Marc Johnson e Daewon Song -, it was time to freely skate on the streets again.
No Brasil, o tour rolou na Estação da Luz, em São Paulo, também famosa por ser vizinha da crackolândia. Mas não foi um dia de temas pesados: rolou muita manobra e diversão, com direito a quatro obstáculos superdiferentes propostos pelas lojas Matriz, Maze, Ratus e Sense, construídos pela Insane Ramps e Arnoni Skate Park.
In Brazil, the tour took place at the Luz Station, in São Paulo, also famous for being near to crackolândia (known as the capital of crack in the country). But that was not a day for hard issues: there were tracks and fun all around, including four obstacles proposed by the shops Matriz, Maze, Ratus and Sense and built by Insane Ramps and Arnoni Skate Park.
