Viu Family 3 generations
Viu Manent is a Chilean winery owned by the Viu family. It was founded in 1935 when Catalonian immigrant Miguel Viu García and his two sons Agustín and Miguel Viu Manent founded Bodegas Viu in Santiago de Chile, in those days bottling and selling wine to the domestic market under the brand “Vinos Viu”.
The winery has been in the hands of the Viu family ever since, and today is managed by the third generation, led by Managing Director - Co owner José Miguel Viu Bottini. He actively participated in generating wine tourism, for instance, he was one of the founders of the Colchagua Valley Wine Route, Chile’s most prestigious wine route.
Viu Manent has come a long way over the past 86 years. Years that have been marked by the family’s love for the trade and its ongoing commitment to the excellence and quality of its wines.
Today Viu Manent is distributed in 50 countries and has earned a reputation for producing the best Malbec from Chile and for being a pioneer in this variety, producing the first bottle of 100% Malbec coming from Chile in the earlies 90´s.
Renewable Energy
Since 2017, Viu Manent is 100% energy sourced by photovoltaic solar panels. The installment of these panels help cover 100% of Viu Manent’s needs.
Taking this initiative makes Viu Manent one of the leading wineries to take action in this important matter. The panels have already been installed in each of the three vineyards, the cellar, and the tourism facilities.
Certified Sustainable Wine of Chile
Viu Manent is certi ed “Sustainable Wine of Chile”. This certi cation covers sustainable practices and management in four areas: vineyards, winery and bottling plant, community, and wine tourism, all based on the Code of Sustainability for the Chilean Wine Industry, with controls for evaluating each area, including recommended practices.
As a participating winery in the pilot program of Wine Tourism, we were able to give witness to the development of our activities and suggest how other wine tourism companies could incorporate additional actions that add value.
COLCHAGUA VALLEY
Colchagua Valley is located on the southernmost portion of the Rapel Valley and its one of Chile’s most renown wine regions. Colchagua has earned recognition for its full-bodied Cabernet, Carménère, Syrah, and Malbec, and its wines regularly appear high on the world’s lists of leading wines. The majority of the wineries are concentrated in the center of the valley, although new plantations climb hillsides and explore the western frontier toward the sea.
VINEYARDS
Viu Manent wines are mainly made with grapes from its own properties throughout the Colchagua Valley, 130 km southeast of the capital city, Santiago. The winery’s 254 hectares are divided between 3 vineyards:
San Carlos
In Santa Cruz, heart of Colchagua Valley, this estate represents the “original one”, the rst of the three. Being one of the oldest in Chile, it was established in the mid-19th century with pre-phylloxera stock brought from France.

La Capilla
Located in Peralillo, the vineyard is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère of extraordinary quality. The soils are alluvial in origin with low fertility, medium depth, and a sandy texture with upper layers that mix with white volcanic ash, lending unique
El Olivar
Located at Peralillo, in a mountainous sector, this vineyard constitutes a new agro climatic condition with its unique climate, soil and topography. Vineyards were established on the piedmont and hills.

Viu 1 represents all of Viu Manent’s experience and specialization in Malbec. This unique limited edition wine in numbered bottles is made from a rigorous selection of our finest grapes.
The grapes come from old-vine Malbec situated in Block Nº 4 of the San Carlos vineyard, planted more than 100 years ago. These vines are naturally balanced due to their age and produce low yields of very small bunches with extraordinary fruit concentration.
This is a fitting tribute to the winery’s founder, Don Miguel Viu Manent.

El Incidente is a tribute to this accidental meeting that became a legend in Chilean wine. Carmenere emerged from an unexpected place, among the established Chilean vineyards in the 1990s. This wine brings with it the essence of that flying incident, when the unpredictable became the inspirational.

Single Vineyard VIU MANENT
Single Vineyard series of wines is an extraordinary example of the way the characteristics of variety and origin are expressed through the wine. Each reflects the very essence of the variety planted in a particular terroir.
They correspond to small productions made with Viu Manent’s best grapes from specific sectors of our three vineyards in the Colchagua Valley. Controlled yields, very ripe and concentrated handpicked fruit and 14–18 months of aging in French oak barrels result in these wines with outstanding characteristics.

Tiny Trials
Our “Tiny Trials” are the result of Viu Manent’s enthusiasm for innovating, exploring the most unique and radical spots, with soils and climatic influences that determine the style of the wine. This, together with small batch, careful vinifications, focuses on highlighting the grape variety and the pronounced influence of the origin, allowing us to produce these pure wines of outstanding character.

ViBo is a line of wines that originated from experimentation and innovation at Viu Manent.
Viñedo Centenario is made from grapes from old vineyards that were planted more than 100 years ago at San Carlos estate. This is a wine that speaks of our history, origins, and tradition in Colchagua.
Punta del Viento is the name of the hill where the vineyards that give rise to this wine are planted.
This assemblage wine is marked by the innovation on varieties which have good future in Colchagua; Grenache, Mourvedre y Syrah.

Gran Reserva
The Gran Reserva range is made from grapes grown in selected sectors of the vineyards and emphasize the fine aromas of the ripe varieties. The wines are generous in body, have greater volume and length on the palate, as well as soft and elegant tannins. In this category Viu Manent privileges barrel aging with a careful balance between the fruit and the oak.

Red Blend is an enchanting and expressive wine that seduces with its aromas of black fruit like blackberry and plum with graphite, and floral notes like violets. This blend has big personality and structure thanks to the base of Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec, and Carmenere, together with another 5 varieties that add complexity both on the nose and on the palate.

VIU MANENT
This wine is produced with grapes grown in an old Semillon vineyard planted more than 100 years ago, in our San Carlos vineyard.
The grapes have a high concentration of sugars at the time they are harvested as they are harvested late in order to encourage the growth of Botrytis cinerea, also known as noble rot.

Viu Manent has been one of the pioneering wineries in Wine Tourism in Chile. It offers various experiences around wine, gastronomy, the equestrian world and hospitality with the recent launch of Vibo Wine Lodge.
Today it is one of the most awarded and visited vineyards in the Colchagua Valley.
Viu Manent has been recognized for 5 consecutive years among the 50 best vineyards in the world (World’s Best Vineyards 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023) and awarded as the best visitor center by the British competition Wine Tourism Awards 2015 & 2018, by the Drinks International Magazine.
