Toda una aventura culinaria de la que podrás disfrutar todos los martes y jueves de julio y agosto de 8 de la tarde a 12 de la noche.

Cómo participar / How to participate Solicita de forma gratuita tu tapaporte en establecimientos asociados, hoteles de Mijas, Torreón de La Cala y Oficina de Turismo. Podrás disfrutar de una bebida acompañada de tapa por tan sólo 1,50 euros. Una vez que visites todos los establecimientos y completes tu tapaporte, entrarás en un sorteo en el que podrás conseguir fantásticos regalos.
You can request your free tapaporte from the associated establishments, hotels in Mijas, La Cala Torreón and the tourist office. You can enjoy a drink and a tapa for just 1.50 euros. Qué mejor para acompañar el aperitivo que un poco de música. Sonidos cubanos, ritmos flamencos, jazz o espectáculos infantiles. La animación tomará cada martes y jueves la plaza Virgen de Peña con shows para toda la familia. De ello se encargarán las diferentes agrupaciones artísticas del municipio.
What better to accompany an aperitif than with a little music. Cuban sounds, Flamenco rhythms, jazz and children’s shows. Entertainment will take every Tuesday and Thursday in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña with shows for the entire family. Different artistic groups from the municipality will be responsible for livening up the evenings.

Handicrafts Market
Al buen sabor de las tapas y al colorido de las actuaciones, se unirá la belleza de las obras expuestas en la plaza Virgen de la Peña. Este espacio se convertirá, durante los meses de verano, en un improvisado mercadillo en el que se podrán adquirir multitud de artículos artesanales, desde ropa y complementos pasando por juguetes y elementos decorativos.
The taste of the “tapas” and the colourful performances, unite with the beauty of the works exhibited in the plaza Virgen de la Peña. During the summer months, this area will be converted into a makeshift market where you can purchase many of the handicrafts, from clothing and accessories through to toys and decorative items.

Vive Mijas by night... in July. Your summer nights are about to be given a twist... La fiesta comenzará con animación para los más pequeños. Después, llega el momento aprender a bailar los ritmos latinos con la ayuda de varios monitores. Habrá regalos para todos y la actuación de la Banda del Robe.

La banda malagueña trae a la plaza Virgen de la Peña su nuevo proyecto de rock con clara influencia andalusí, deleitando a los presentes con los temas de su disco ‘Raíces’.
La diversión estará asegurada de la mano de Club Habana, especializada en el Son Cubano, con temas de los mejores soneros como Compay Segundo o la Vieja Troba Santiaguera.
Kiko, finalista de la 2ª edición del programa Fama, impartirá una ‘Master Class’ en la que los presentes aprenderán los pasos de una coreografía de baile moderno.

CONVERSACIONES CON UN BOLÍGRAFO
CONVERSATIONS WITH A BALLPOINT PEN Jesús nace en Benalmádena en el año 1983 y además de su pasión por la pintura y el dibujo, también ha hecho sus pinitos en el mundo de la moda, con diseños a nivel particular. Actualmente, el Ayuntamiento benalmadense y la Librería General de Zaragoza mantienen una exposición permanente de este joven malagueño. El próximo 2 de julio su trabajo llegará hasta la Casa Museo. Esta exposición estará basada en 12 dibujos realizados en bolígrafo sobre papel. Según explica el propio autor, cada obra “habla por sí misma de una historia pero todas confluyen en una misma idea: la vida, con sus conflictos y problemas, hasta llegar a descubrirse a uno mismo”.
Jesús was born in Benalmádena in 1983 and he has a passion for painting and drawing and has also made his debut in the fashion world with high quality designs. Currently the benalmadense Town Council and the General Library of Zaragoza have maintained a permanent exhibition of this young Malagueño’s work. On the 2nd of July his work will be displayed at the Folk Museum in Mijas village. This exhibition is based on twelve drawings in pen on paper. According to the author, every work “speaks for itself, a story, but all converge into the same idea: life with its conflicts and problems and arriving to discover oneself”.

En sus dibujos hay una ausencia prácticamente total de color, ya que tan sólo en algunos casos encontramos detalles realizados con otra técnica, pero pasan casi desapercibidos. La mayoría de trazos están hechos en bolígrafo negro. En su visita a la Casa Museo, el espectador encontrará una contraposición entre hieratismo y expresión, así como teatralidad, fuerza y pasión. Según Moreno, las composiciones que realiza parten de una perspectiva muy frontal en la que siempre hay un elemento que marca movimiento, llevando al público, en algunos casos, por un recorrido visual a lo largo del dibujo.
His drawings are almost absent of color only in some cases we find details made with another technique, but they go almost unnoticed. The majority of strokes are made in black pen. During a visit to the Folk Museum, the viewer will find a contrast between hieratic and expression, akin to theatricality, strength and passion. According to Moreno, the compositions carried out have a very frontal perspective in which there is always an element that makes movement, leading the public in some cases to a visual tour of the drawing.

La música será la propuesta cultural del Teatro Las Lagunas para el sábado 3 de julio. Mario Díaz llega al municipio para presentar su primer trabajo en solitario, al que ha titulado ‘Fusión’. Este cordobés comenzó en la música en el año 2001. Lo hizo junto a un grupo de amigos con los que dio vida a ‘Los Aslándticos’. Mario ha sido en
estos años el vocalista principal de la formación, así como compositor y letrista de muchas de las canciones. Pero ahora, ha querido dar un paso más en su carrera musical, atreviéndose a emprender este difícil camino en solitario, logrando en su primer álbum una mezcla única de acento andaluz, guitarras flamencas y reggae, todo
ello envuelto en unas letras de atmósferas, tierra y aires sureños. Y es que Díaz vive de lleno eso de ‘renovarse o morir’. De hecho, ya desde el año 2006, empezó a desvincularse de ‘Los Aslándticos’ y comenzó a ofrecer algunos conciertos en solitario. Ahora, reaparece con con nuevos títulos como ‘Disfruta del Momento’ o ‘Andar’.

Music will be the cultural offer at the Las Lagunas Theatre on Saturday the 3rd of July. Mario Diaz arrives in the municipality to present his first solo work, which is entitled ‘Fusion’. This Cordobes started in music in 2001. He did so alongside a group of friends that became the the Aslándticos. Mario has in recent years been
the principal vocalist in this group, as well as composer and lyricist for many of the songs. But now, he wants to go a step further in his career, and has taken the courage to undertake this difficult journey alone, making his first album which is a unique blend of Andalusian flavour, flamenco guitar, and reggae, all wrapped

in atmospheric words, land and southern air. And Diaz lives through the concept of ‘renew or die’. In fact, since 2006 he began to disassociate from the Aslándticos and began offering some solo concerts. Now he reappears with new titles such as ‘Disfruta del Momento’ and ‘Andar’.
El pasado mes de junio y tras un importante año de trabajo de composición y grabación, salía finalmente a la venta el nuevo disco de Mario Díaz, ‘Gloria Bendita’. Un regreso discográfico que se presenta como la continuación de la frescura y la madurez que caracterizan las letras y la música del artista cordobés. Con un total de 15 canciones, este trabajo viene rebosando esa musicalidad de la que sólo Mario sabe hacer gala, esa mezcla única del acento andaluz con la que le gusta impregnar sus temas. Acompañado de una nueva banda de músicos excepcionales, Díaz asegura que vuelve con toda la energía que le caracteriza sobre los escenarios y lo hace en una gira en la que el público podrá disfrutar de un espectáculo lleno de nuevas canciones y también recordar aquellas tan memorables y emocionantes que ya son un clásico en todas sus actuaciones.

In his canvases we often find music as well, as if the brushstrokes and notes have become entangled and result in a work that is open, and clear, without folds. Javier, however, moves more by thoughts, hidden in each of the strokes that give life to his work.

A Laura le gusta trabajar en piedra en el caso de los bustos femeninos y en hierro para la representación de instrumentos musicales.

Las actores de Teatro Mijas llegan al festival de este año con la obra ‘Las Brujas’, un drama rural influenciado por el siglo inhumano, áspero y sombrío de la fuerte dramaturgia siciliana. La superstición y el embrujamiento serán factores imperativos en la historia, en la que la protagonista, embarazada, luchará con todas sus fuerzas para defender el tesoro que guarda en su regazo, lanzándose sobre los que pretenden salvar su honra y destruir la huella de su pecado. Los versos, escritos por el extremeño Luis Chamizo, impregnan las frases de amor y fragancia campesina.
Mijas Theatre actors present the play ‘Las Brujas’ at this year’s festival. It is a rural drama influenced by the inhumane, rough and sombre Sicilian drama. Superstition and bewitching will be the imperative factors of the history, in which the pregnant protagonist will fight with all her force to defend the treasure which is in her lap, launching on those who claim to save her honour and destroy the footprint of her sin. The verses written by the Extremeduran, Luis Chamizo Extremaduran permeates the phrases of love and rural fragrance.

Kiti Manver, Nuria González, Aurora Sánchez y Octavi Pujades, bajo la dirección de Mutis Producciones, dan vida a ‘Tres’, la historia del reencuentro de unas amigas a las que la vida ha ido llevando por caminos dispares, aunque la soledad sea un sentimiento común. Para combatirla deciden quedarse embarazadas y formar una familia. Sus hijos serán hermanos y crecerán juntos, pero aún les queda por encontrar al hombre perfecto. El autor de la obra, Juan Carlos Rubio, pretende llevar un soplo de esperanza, alegría y buen humor a los escenarios españoles, en un momento de crisis en el sector teatral.

To combat this they decide to get pregnant and raise a family. Their children will be brothers and sisters and grow up together, but yet they still have to find the perfect man. The author of the work, Juan Carlos Rubio, aims to bring a breath of hope, joy and good humour to the Spanish stage in a moment of crisis in the theatre sector.

Este artista casi no necesita presentación. ‘El Brujo’ forma ya parte de la historia del Festival de Teatro Villa de Mijas. En esta ocasión, vuelve al escenario del Auditorio Municipal con su último trabajo, ‘El Testigo’, basado en un texto del gaditano Fernando Quiñones que, según asegura el propio actor, le enamoró al leerlo. Así que, a solas sobre las tablas, como de costumbre, Rafael Álvarez mueve en este espectáculo al personaje ficticio de Miguel Pantalón, artista que es compendio de diversos cantaores flamencos a los que el propio Quiñones admiraba. La cita con ‘El Brujo’ es el domingo 18 de julio a las 23:00 horas. Déjese llevar por su hechizo, porque no se arrepentirá.

This artist needs almost no introduction. ‘El Brujo’ is now part of the history of Mijas Pueblo Theatre Festival. On this occasion he returns to the municipal auditorium stage with his lastest work, ‘El Testigo’, ‘The Witness’, based on a text of the native Cádiz, Fernando Quiñones, which according to the actor, he fell in love with when reading it. So, alone on the stage, as usual, Rafael Álvarez appears in this show as the fictitious Miguel Pantalón, an artist who is a compendium of diverse Flamenco singers who Quiñones admires. Los amantes del slot en Mijas se preparan para despedir la temporada. Este mes, el club acoge la penúltima prueba del campeonato, todo un homenaje a los grandes nombres de la Fórmula 1, pues se correrá en la modalidad de clásicos, haciendo referencia a mitos como Ayrton Senna o Alain Prost. Como viene siendo habitual, las carreras comenzarán a las 10.30 h para los más pequeños, mientras que los adultos correrán a las 16 h. El día anterior, desde las 19 h, habrá entrenamientos libres.

La emoción de las carreras vuelve al Hipódromo Costa del Sol. El recinto turfístico de Mijas ha preparado la nueva temporada de verano con mucho mimo y esmero, por lo que esperan recibir a un gran número de visitantes. El pistoletazo de salida será el próximo sábado 3 de julio. Y las siguientes citas con el turf serán los días 10, 17, 24 y 30 de julio, así como 6 de agosto. En cuanto al horario de apertura de puertas, éstas se abrirán a las 21 horas y la primera carrera de la noche comenzará a las 22 horas.

The thrill of racing returns to the Racecourse of the Costa del Sol. The Mijas Racecourse has prepared for the new summer season with much love and care, so expect a large number of visitors. The first meet will be next Saturday, July the 3rd. And the following race meets are the 10th, 17th, 24th and 30th of July and August the 6th. Gates open at 9 p.m. and the first night race will start at 10 p.m.

El mes de julio es sinónimo de feria en el municipio de Mijas. Las Lagunas está siendo el primer núcleo que celebra sus fiestas. El pistoletazo de salida tuvo lugar el miércoles 30 con el Día del Niño y la cena homenaje a la tercera edad. Y entre los días 1 y 4 de julio continuarán las actividades. Pero esto no es todo, ya que la fiesta continua a pie de playa entre el 29 de julio y el 1 de agosto con la feria de La Cala. Actividades y juegos a la orilla del mar, actuaciones musicales y un ambiente muy marinero será el que se vivirá en el núcleo caleño durante estas fechas. Así que, ponte el traje de faralaes y... ¡a la feria!
The month of July is synonymous with the Feria in the municipality of Mijas. Las Lagunas is the first nucleus to celebrate its festival. The starting shot will take place on Wednesday the 30th with children’s day and the senior citizens honourary dinner. And between the 1st and the 4th of July activities will continue. But there is much more to enjoy, as the party continues by the sea between the 29th of July and the 1st of August with the Feria in La Cala. Activities and games by the sea shore, musical performances and a fishing village atmosphere at the caleño nucleus. So, put on your flamenco and dress and ....go to the feria!

Los vecinos de La Rosa tienen previsto celebrar sus fiestas a lo largo del mes de julio. Las actividades comenzarán el día 17 con el campeonato de tiro al plato y de golf. Y ya los días 23 y 24 los lugareños se reunirán para vivir su verbena, dos jornadas en las que la música en directo, los bailes y los juegos populares serán la nota dominante. También habrá una exhibición ecuestre. Y el domingo 25 celebrarán la tradicional comida de socios.
La Rosa residents are planning to celebrate their holidays in July. Activities will begin on the 17th with the clay pigeon shooting championship and golf. And on the 23rd and 24th locals will meet to make the most of this verbena, two days in which music live, dances and popular games will be the prevelant note. There will also be an equestrian exhibition. And on Sunday 25 there will be the traditional members meal.
Hasta 200 alumn@s de la Universidad Popular darán ritmo a la noche del 3 de julio en el Auditorio Municipal de Mijas Pueblo. En esta ocasión se unen bajo un mismo espectáculo los grupos de Víctor Rojas, Rafi Cuevas y Juan Jesús Leiva, una mezcla explosiva cargada de mucho arte. Para Rojas, éste es su primer año como profesor de la UP aunque con su grupo ‘Mijas Joven’ lleva ya más de 10 años trabajando en el municipio. Para su cita con el Auditorio, el bailaor mijeño ha preparado un espectáculo en el que el flamenco más puro será el protagonista. Después de años de fusiones, Rojas ha querido ser fiel a sus raíces. Su repertorio incluirá desde bulerías, a fandangos y alegrías, pasando por rumbas. En el caso de las alumnas de la UP de La Cala, este grupo, formado por una treintena de bailaoras de todas las edades y al frente de Rafi Cuevas, volverá a subirse sobre las tablas de este recinto para deleitar al público con su amplio abanico de bailes, en el que no faltarán las sevillanas ni las bulerías. Y los ritmos salseros y de salón correrán a cargo de las alumnas de Juan Jesús Leiva. En la edición de este año, y como novedad, el grupo se atreverá con el Foxtrot, un popular baile estadounidense de principios del siglo XX. Y como no podía ser de otra manera también se moverán al son de la bachata, el merengue, el chachachá, la salsa o el tango.

Up to 200 students from the Open University will set the rhythm on the eve of the 3rd of July in the Mijas village Municipal Auditorium. Victor Rojas, Rafi Cuevas and Juan Jesús Leiva, an explosive mixture from many art groups come together in the same show. For Rojas, this is his first year as UP Professor but he has already been working for more than 10 years in the municipality with his ‘Mijas Joven’ Group. For this appointment at the Auditorium, the mijeño dancer has prepared a show in which the purest flamenco will be the protagonist. After years of fusion, Rojas has wanted to be true to its roots. His repertoire includes bulerías, fandangos and alegrias and rumbas. In the case of the students from UP La Cala, they are a group, made up of all ages and form a group of 30 dancers under the leadership of Rafi Cuevas. They return to delight audiences with their wide range of dances including sevillanas and bulerías. Salsa rhythms and lounge dance will be the protagonists of the students of Juan Jesús Leiva. In this year’s Edition, and new to the show, this group will dare to do the Foxtrot, a popular early 20th century American dance. And how could it be otherwise, they will also move to the sound of the bachata, merengue, the chachachá, salsa and tango.

Malabares, juegos acrobáticos, equilibrios sobre el trapecio y un sinfín de espectáculos relacionados con las artes circenses se unirán el próximo día 9 de julio en el parque Andalucía para hacer vivir a los asistentes todo un torbellino de emociones. El glamour, la espectacularidad y el colorido del circo llega a Mijas de la mano del área de Juventud para mostrarnos su faceta más cabaretera. ‘Noches de Cabaret’ es un show diseñado para amenizar las noches de verano, divirtiendo e involucrando al público en cada número. Con el humor como pilar y la calle como escenario principal, cinco artistas y compañías circenses de la provincia se encargarán, a través de minishows de 10 minutos acompañados de música en vivo, de arrancar multitud de carcajadas entre el público. La cita, que está programada para todos los públicos, dará comienzo a las 21 horas y tendrá una duración de una hora y media.
Juggling, acrobatic games, balance acts on the trapeze and a myriad of events related to the circus arts will unite on July the 9th in the Andalucia Park to send the audience into a whirlwind of emotions. Glamour, spectacle and a colourful circus arrives in Mijas at the hands of the Youth Department who will show us their bent on cabaret. ‘Cabaret nights’ is a show designed to liven up the summer nights having fun and engaging the public in each series. With humour being the mainstay and the street, the principal scene, five artists, and circus companies will perform minishows of 10 minutes accompanied by live music and much laughter from the public. The event, scheduled will begin at 9 p.m. and will last for an hour and a half.
