La artista malagueña Susana Velasco muestra en la Casa Museo una selección de 20 obras pictóricas realizadas a base de acrílicos, óleos e ilustración digital. Los trabajos de esta creadora, que expone por segunda vez en Mijas, destacan por el tratamiento del color y el uso de la fantasía y la figura femenina como fuentes de inspiración. Susana se inició en la pintura de forma autodidacta en 2005, año desde el que ha realizado un total de ocho exposiciones.

Malaga artist, Susana Velasco is exhibiting a selection of 20 of her works at the Folk Museum. There are examples of acrylics, oils and digital illustration. The works of this creator, who is exhibiting for the second time in Mijas, stand out for the clever use of colour and fantasy and the feminine figure which are a source of inspiration. Susana began painting in an autodidactic form in 2005, and has had eight exhibitions to date.

El telón del Teatro Las Lagunas se abre para presentar su temporada otoñal. Dos representaciones catalogadas como teatro de siempre, exponentes del costumbrismo de carácter humorístico, harán vibrar durante el mes de septiembre el espacio escénico lagunero. El Colegio de Abogados de Fuengirola y el grupo de teatro Muñoz Seca serán los encargados de llevar hasta el público estas historias.

Two representations are catalogued at the theatre and as always; exponents of the typical regional humour, during the month of September on the Las lagunas stage. The Fuengirola lawyers college and the Muñoz theatre group will be presenting these stories to the public.

Los fondos recaudados con la venta de entradas irán destinados de manera íntegra a la Asociación de Familiares de Enfermos de Alzheimer y otras Demencias de Fuengirola y Mijas (AFA).

This theatrical project is one of the activities organised by the Commission of Training and Culture of the Lawyer’s College of the Delegation of Fuengirola. Under the guidance of Manuel España, the group takes the stage for the four sketches of the Brothers Alvarez Quintero. “Novios de Internet” y “Un palillo ‘pa’ el diente” son dos sainetes que pretenden hacer pasar al espectador un rato de risa inolvidable. Las situaciones a las que se puede llegar cuando se ‘liga’ a través internet y las desternillantes conversaciones entre variopintos personajes sentados en la terraza de un bar conducen al espectador hasta la reflexión, la crítica social y la ironía sobre la sociedad actual, siempre con el denominador común de la risa y el humor más desatado. “Novios de Internet” - “Internet Dating” and “Un Palillo “pa” el Diente” - “A Toothpick ‘for’ the Tooth” are two farces that will give the spectator much laughter. Los argentinos Jorge y Luciana Nevani muestran en la Casa Museo algunas de sus concepciones del arte en forma de obras pictóricas. Padre e hija, afincados en Mijas desde hace varios años, comparten su afición por esta disciplina. Jorge, arquitecto de profesión, se decanta por el mundo equino y los curtidos rostros de personas mayores como tema recurrente en sus lienzos. Luciana, por su parte, es licenciada en Bellas Artes y ha aprendido de su progenitor los secretos del pincel.

Father and Daughter, both Argentinians have resided in Mijas for several years, sharing their love of painting. In their exhibition at the Folk Museum, which can be seen until the 28th of September, they have illustrated their many facets of art and their vision at the same time. In the case of architect, Jorge, horses and the faces of older people are part of his canvas. For her part, Luciana studied Fine Art and she has inherited the mastery of the brush from her father.

One of the most recognised house festivals of the peninsula comes to Mijas. After two successful editions -Fuengirola and Seville-, the Costa del Sol Hipódromo will be converted to an arena for the Máxima FM Sun Coast Festival on the 12th of September, an event promoted by Dubplate Records in collaboration with the Mijas Town Hall.

Con la playa de La Cala como escenario de fondo, Vive Mijas entrevista a Caradefuego; María Rayo y Pepe Trueno nos cuentan los entresijos de su nuevo disco, ‘Déjame vivir con alegría’, que saldrá a la venta este mes. Entre risas y confidencias, ambos nos descubrieron, entre otras cosas, cómo nacen sus eclécticas melodías, temas que mezclan feminidad y electrónica a partes iguales. With La Cala beach as a backdrop, Vive Mijas interviews Caradefuego; Maria Rayo and Pepe Trueno tell us all about their new disc, ‘Dejame vivir con alegria’, that goes on sale this month. Between jokes and confidences, we discover them both. Besides other things, how their eclectic melodies came about and their themes that mix femininity and electronics in equal parts. Es el atardecer de un caluroso día de agosto. Sentados en el chiringuito Nané, lugar emblemático de La Cala de Mijas, y contemplando la puesta de sol frente a una cerveza fría, encontramos a María Rayo y Pepe Trueno, el alma de Caradefuego. El ambiente invita a la conversación y las reflexiones empiezan a fluir de manera natural entre recuerdos y comentarios de lo que ha sido su trayectoria. Fruto de la casualidad, comienzan a sonar las notas evocadoras de una canción de Bjork, referencia indiscutible en las melodías de Caradefuego. En ese momento, ambos recuerdan a Miguel Paredes, tercer componente del grupo que, por motivos de agenda, no pudo estar presente en la entrevista. El tiempo pasa volando en compañía de estos

artistas; sin embargo, antes de que se vaya la luz, aprovechamos para realizar una improvisada sesión fotográfica. Con las olas rompiendo a sus pies y un gran desparpajo frente a la cámara, Pepe y María nos hablan de sus comienzos y nos presentan su nuevo trabajo, siempre con una gran sonrisa y mirando con ilusión hacia el futuro.

¿Por qué habéis elegido este lugar para la entrevista? ¿Os inspira para componer? (María) Sí, de hecho incluimos el Mediterráneo como un componente más casi del grupo porque inspira toda nuestra música y además también hay canciones que se han compuesto aquí. Ya en el disco anterior y en éste hay temas que se han compuesto en La Cala de Mijas porque parte del grupo es de aquí.

It is the early evening of a warm day in August. Sat in the chiringuito Nane, an emblematic place of La Cala de Mijas, contemplating the waning sun whilst taking a cold beer, we find Maria Rayo and Pepe Trueno, the soul of Caradefuefo. The ambience invites conversation and

be able to do an impromtu photographic session. With the waves breaking at their feet and self-confidence in front of the camera, Pepe and Maria speak to us of their beginnings and present their new work to us, always with a smile and looking forward with hope at the future.

Caradefuego perform on September 18th at the Grill Festival. Their disc goes on sale in September in Europe, Japan and the United States. It is available on the homepage Irma Record and through www.myspace.com/caradefuego2 reflection to flow naturally amongst memories and comments of what has been their trajectory. Fruit of coincidence, they begin to hum the evocative notes of a song of Bjork, an indisputable reference in the melodies of Caradefuego. In this moment, both remember Miguel Paredes, the third component of the group who couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be present at the interview due to a prior engagement. Why have you chosen this place for the interview? Does it inspire you to compose? (Maria) Yes, in fact we include the Mediterranean like a component which is dear to the group because it inspires all our music and also, there are songs that we have composed here. Already on the previous disc and in the current one there are themes that have been formed in La Cala de Mijas because part of the group is from here.

¿Cómo llegó a constituirse Caradefuego? (Pepe) Teníamos una formación en la que tocábamos hace mucho tiempo, Los Supersónicos, y María vino con canciones que le gustaban pero que no encajaban mucho en la historia. A partir de ahí, empezamos a trabajar en otra línea. Después, Los Supersónicos se disolvió y ya continuamos con Caradefuego, que ha pasado por diferentes formaciones y ha ido creciendo sobre los temas de María. Finalmente, la formación se consolidó con Miguel Paredes, arreglista, productor, guitarra y programaciones; Pepe Trueno, guitarra, ruidos y logística; y María Rayo, compositora, cantante e ideóloga. ¿Qué podemos encontrar en ‘Déjame vivir con alegría’? (María) Yo creo que el primer disco de alguna manera buscaba conquistar y siempre cuando buscas conquistar te exhibes como un pavo real. En este disco estamos más seguros y entonces hemos sido más naturales. Es mucho más físico, más positivo, más luminoso. Además, hemos seguido una línea un poco más pop dentro de la electrónica. ¿En qué os inspiráis para componer? (María) En mi caso, cuando compongo una canción lo que pretendo es conmover a la gente, emocionar. Al principio, me inspiraba prácticamente todo, una conversación, una película. En este segundo disco, he trabajado también partiendo de textos, hay canciones en las que está un poco el alma de algunos escritores pululando, así como otros compositores que nosotros admiramos. En cuanto a referencias musicales, ¿por quién os

guiáis? (María) Nos gusta mucha música pero, así de cabecera, están los clásicos como Franco Battiato o Vainica Doble; luego, también tenemos un ojo puesto en los nuevos artistas noveles tipo Ceu, Moreno Veloso, Camile… Mezcláis la poesía con tendencias latinas y electrónicas, ¿que pretendéis con esta mezcla? (Pepe) El núcleo del grupo son tres individualidades. María se encarga más de componer y de las letras, le salen melodías latinas porque todos en general nos hemos criado desde pequeños oyendo música latina; después, ella lee mucho, le encanta la poesía y por eso tiene esa influencia. Por otra parte, Miguel es una persona que está muy a la última en todo tipo de tendencias, desde música experimental a otro tipo

de clásicos. Se trata de juntarlo todo y así surge Caradefuego. A la hora de la música, María tiene un tipo de inspiración, Miguel tira más hacia los clásicos contemporáneos, pero hay tantas influencias musicales que por eso quizá el disco sale tan ecléctico y termina convirtiéndose en un abanico que es muy difícil y a la vez muy fácil de catalogar. ¿Qué acogida está teniendo el disco entre la gente? (María) Bastante buena porque cada vez que lo ponemos la gente alucina. Con todas las personas que hemos hablado y con la gente que está viendo los conciertos sentimos algo bastante especial, sentimos que hay una conexión real con el público. El primero estaba dirigido a un público muy concreto y este disco tiene unas alas más grandes y puede abrazar a diferentes gustos.

How did you come to be Caradefuego? (Pepe) We had a group a long time ago, Los Supersonicos, and Maria came with songs that the group liked but that were not suitable to the frameowrk of the group. From there on, we began another line of work. Later, Los Supersonicos disbanded and we continued with this one, which has taken different formations and has been growing from Maria’s themes. What can we find in ‘Dejame vivir con alegria’-‘Allow me to Live with Happiness’? (Maria) I believe that the first disc somehow was searching about how to conquer and always when you think about how to conquer you exhibit yourself like a peacock. On this disc we are more sure and more natural. It is much more physical, more positive and more bright. We also followed more of a line in pop within the electronic. What inspires you to compose? (Maria) In my case, when I compose a song what I claim, is to move people, to thrill. At first, I was inspired by practically everything, a conversation, a movie. On this second disc, I have also worked on dividing texts, there are songs in which the soul of some of the writers have germinated, as well as other composers that we admire. As for musical references: who are your guides? (Maria) We like a lot of music but the most important is the outstanding classics such as Franco Battiato

and Vainica Doble; but then, we have an eye on new artists like Ceu, Moreno Veloso, Camile... You mix poetry with Latin and electronic tendencies: what do you aim for with this mix? (Pepe) At the heart of the group are three individuals. Maria is in charge of composing most of the lyrics, Latin melodies are there because we all in general, have grown up hearing Latin music; then Maria likes very much to read and loves poetry and that’s why the lyrics have this influence. On the other hand, Miguel is a person who likes the latest trends, from experimental music to other classics. We join all this together and hence we have Caradefuego. For the music Maria gives a certain type of inspiration, Miguel pulls more towards the contemporary classics, but there are so many musical influences that, that’s why perhaps the disc is so eclectic and ends up converting a difficult range and simultaneously is very easy to catalogue. What reception is the disc receiving from the public? Quite good (Maria) because whenever we play it people are captivated. With all the people we have spoken with and the people who have seen the concerts we feel something quite special, we feel that there is a real connection with the public. The first disc was directed at a very specific type of audience and this disc has great breadth and can embrace different tastes.

En este disco habéis tenido colaboraciones, ¿qué ha aportado cada uno de los colaboradores? (María) Pues su universo particular, como diría Marisa Montes. En el caso de Nacho Canút, aporta ser uno de los gurús de las pistas de baile a nivel nacional y de Suramérica. Martín Buscaglia es uno de los compositores revelación de principios de este siglo en Sudamérica y España. Conde es uno de los productores y remezcladores más interesantes de Andalucía. También hay cantantes femeninas, Helena Simandan y Laura Lunapark, y músicos de la escena del jazz actual como Carlos Pino. Además, hay que nombrar a Rafa Sala, Quique Asha y Alexandro Kassin. (Pepe) La verdad es que en todos los discos de Caradefuego siempre nos gusta que la gente colabore, porque cuando trabajas con gente de fuera al final aprendes mucho de los músicos. Nos encanta eso de aprender, nos encanta eso de hacer discos, contar con gente y disfrutarlo, y que ellos disfruten también porque la mayoría de las veces son gente que no son de la misma escena que nosotros pero se integran perfectamente.

On this disc there are collaborations: what have each of the collaborators contributed? (María) Well in this particular world, as Marisa Montes would say; in the case of Nacho Canút, he contributes as one of the gurus of the dance floors at national level and of south America. Martin Buscaglia is one of the revelation composers of the beginning of this century in South America and Spain. Conde is one of the producers and more interesting remixers of Andalucia. Also, there are female singers, Helena Simandan y Laura Lunapark, and musicians from the current jazz scene such as Carlos Pino. It is also important to name Rafa Sala, Quique Asha and Alexandro Kassin. (Pepe) The truth is that on all the Caradefuego discs we always like it when people collaborate because when you work with outside people you learn more about the music. We like to learn, to have contact with others on discs and to enjoy the experience and that they enjoy themselves is important and even though they are not from the same scene they integrate perfectly.
